IC (Identity Codes) Numbers are codes used by the British police to describe a person's apparent ethnicity.

The codes are:
*[=IC1=]- White European
*[=IC2=]- Dark European (e.g. Latino)
*[=IC3=]- Afro-Caribbean
*[=IC4=]- Asian (South Asian)
*[=IC5=]- Oriental (East Asian)
*[=IC6=]- Arab/North African
*[=IC7=] or 0- Unknown

Used in many a PoliceProcedural, especially ''TheBill''.

* Now rarely used outside London, where its continued unofficial use was explained to this Troper, by a Non-Met copper, as the Met trying to be too Hollywood and US TV. Officially the English words are supposed to be used.
