Farmboy becomes world savior, fights Dark Lords up to and including a [[CrystalDragonJesus Crystal Dragon Satan]], develops magical powers... all things that are deemphasized in the heroic fantasy genre. I wouldn't be surprised if a few HeroicFantasy elements were still floating around, though; RobertJordan got his start writing Conan sequels, after all.
