Space Ace: No. This trope refers to shows where the limelight, so to speak, rotates through the cast, and in specific to those episodes where one member of the cast who generally provides poor episodes provides for a good one (for a change). To keep with the ''StarTrek'' referencing, a ADayInThelimeLight episode for ''StarTrekTheNextGeneration'' would be the one that starred Lt. Barclay, a minor support character who was later set up for a larger role in a SpinOff.

The main difference between the two tropes is that a GoodTroiEpisode implies a change in quality from the usual as the deviation from the norm, while a ADayInTheLimeLight episode implies a shift in attention from the show's set-in-stone main character as the deviation from the norm, but ''not'' the quality of the episode.

Personally, I've never had a thing against Troi, BTW.

**I'd seriously dispute this belonging here. Armin Shimmerman's performances are pretty strong across the board, and the episodes centered around him (with the exception of "Profit and Lace") were all rather strong IMHO.

This troper firmly believes that most Quark-centric episodes were [[SoBadItsHorrible pure undiluted crap]] but places the blame squarely on the swarm of horrible [[AlienScrappy Alien Scrappies]] that were his supporting characters, or indeed any Ferengi in StarTrek not played by Armin Shimeran.
**** The Ferengi Episodes in general are terrible. These all feature Quark as the main character (since he's the main Ferengi in the show), but Quark himself is otherwise a well-liked and interesting character. Maybe the ''StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'' example should be "good Rom episode" or "good Zek episode" instead? The problem there, of course, is that there aren't any of those...

{{Po8}}: Most of the examples of this trope don't seem to be examples of the actual described trope at all. The description seems to imply that it's when a hated character has the lead role in one (or two?) good episodes, so examples like "Quark" make no sense. Shall I cut all the examples that don't refer to a specific episode as well as a specific hated character?

BigT: Almost. The character need not be hated. It's just that all but one (or two) episodes featuring them should be bad.

Still, I'm not sure if you should fix the examples or the description.

Addy the PawnSlayer: I've removed the James Bond example, as a die hard Bond fan I've yet to see anyone seriously suggesting For Your Eyes Only is the best of the Moore films. The reality is that it's The Spy Who Loved Me that is considered the best (and one of the best Bonds overall) but in any case the whole Bond canon is far too YMMV to qualify for this page.
