->''Just fear me. Love me. Do as I say, and I shall be your slave.''
-->-- '''Jareth the Goblin King''' to '''Sarah,''' ''Film/{{Labyrinth}}''

This trope applies whenever a villainous character has romantic and/or sexual feelings for a heroic one.

If this crush takes a turn for the perverse, this can lead to tropes like IHaveYouNowMyPretty, ForcefulKiss, BatheHerAndBringHerToMe, AndNowYouMustMarryMe, ScarpiaUltimatum, and GoGoEnslavement, although none of those ''require'' a Villainous Crush. Additionally, the villain may become a StalkerWithACrush. If the crush itself is a motivating factor in their StartOfDarkness, then it's LoveMakesYouEvil.

This trope isn't always negative, though. This trope can conversely be a very humanising trait for an AntiVillain. The heroic character may become a MoralityPet, and can be fairly certain that their villainous admirer will never harm them or allow harm to come to them, [[KickTheMoralityPet barring certain exceptions]]. They may even step in to protect them from other villains who have fewer compunctions. Taken all the way, it may become LoveRedeems.

If the feelings are mutual or an actual relationship develops, then it's DatingCatwoman instead. When this is purely subtextual, see FoeRomanceSubtext. The specific variant when the Evil Empress captures the hero to seduce him is VillainessesWantHeroes.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* Esdeath of ''Manga/AkameGaKiru'' sees the main protagonist Tatsumi as her perfect ideal man and is blindly in love with him. The problem is she is a completely insane sadist who massacres and tortures people with glee and Tatsumi is a member of a group trying to topple the country she is a leader of.
* In episode 4 of ''MeitanteiHolmes'', Professor Moriarty kidnaps Mrs. Hudson to get to Holmes, but she's so kind that he soon develops a serious crush on her himself. When the plan eventually fails, he releases her and promises never to involve her in one of his schemes again.
* ''Manga/InuYasha'':
** The whole deal in the series would have NOT started if the thief Onigumo didn't fall in love with Kikyou, then made a DealWithTheDevil that transformed him into none other than Naraku...
** Jakotsu towards InuYasha himself, and Mukotsu towards Kagome.
* Happens more than once in ''Franchise/SailorMoon'', where villains of both genders were attracted either to Usagi (FillerVillain Seijuuro/Alan, Prince Diamond) or to Mamoru (Queen Beryl, FillerVillain Natsumi/Anne, manga!Dark Lady, anime!Fish Eye, anime!Nehelenia).
* ''VampireHunterD''. Vampire lord Count Magnus Lee desires the [[DistressedDamsel human girl]] Doris Lang, but she only has eyes for the title {{hero}}.
* Everybody's got a crush on Elie in ''Manga/RaveMaster'' -- even the psycho Lucia, who stole her [[SacredFirstKiss first kiss, leaving her in tears]].
* Rido from ''VampireKnight'' was obsessed with his [[BrotherSisterIncest sister Juri]] and then subsequently with [[spoiler: her daughter, Yuuki.]]
* In ''Anime/GoLion'', Prince Sincline is obsessed with Princess Fala from the first time he sees her. This carries over to ''{{Voltron}}'', where they are Prince Lotor and Princess Allura.
** It continues in the American-produced SequelSeries, ''VoltronForce''.
* ''Manga/OutlawStar'': Ron had only ordered Harry to kidnap [[MacGuffinGirl Melfina]], since she's [[spoiler: the navigation system of the XGP]]. Instead, he fell in love with her -- by which we mean, went full-blown [[StalkerWithACrush stalker]]/{{yandere}}; especially when she rejected him. Harry spends the remainder of the series shifting from trying to coax her with heartfelt pleas, to [[MurderTheHypotenuse trying to murder Gene for being too close to her.]]
* ''Franchise/LupinIII'': As the series' resident MsFanservice and FemmeFatale, Fujiko's used to people [[LustObject wanting her]]; including villains.
** ''[[Anime/LupinIIITheColumbusFiles The Columbus Files]]'': Nazalov was only supposed to abduct Fujiko and make her divulge the secret of the Columbus File. But as the film progresses, he becomes increasingly infatuated with her instead, to the point of literally fighting Lupin over her.
** In ''Voyage to Danger'', it was [[ArmsDealer Todd]], who was so taken with her that he was willing to forget [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder both the times she betrayed him]], so long as she agreed to be his. By which he meant, as his "pet". Naturally, Fujiko [[EveryoneHasStandards wasn't about to let that happen.]]
** And in ''[[Recap/LupinIIIS2E145 Albatross: Wings of Death]]'', she gets abducted by [[AffablyEvil Professor Lumbach]] for stealing the plans for his [[spoiler: remote nuclear detonator]]. But while she's in his custody, he takes a romantic interest in her and proposes they get married, since she was having a lover's quarrel with Lupin at the time. She refuses.
* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ'': [[BigBad Haman Khan]] seems to have one of these on [[TheHero Judau Ashta]], while [[DragonWithAnAgenda Glemmy Toto]] has one on [[ActionGirl Roux]]. In each case the "relationship" is deeply messed up and [[spoiler: the heroic individual ends up being responsible in some way for their admirer's death.]]
* Creed from ''Manga/BlackCat'' owns this trope. His crazy rampaging crush on Train is so obvious that ''everyone'' notices it... [[ObliviousToLove except Train]].
* This is what Neil Regan ''actually'' feels for Candy White Andree in CandyCandy. [[spoiler: Near the end of the series we're briefly fooled into thinking this will lead to LoveRedeems... but he tries to pull a ScarpiaUltimatum instead.]]
** Also, Neil's sister Elisa has a brief one on Candy's second love interest Terry during the BoardingSchool arc. He couldn't care less and [[HumiliationConga humiliates her]] for being mean to Candy.
* In ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagicaTheMovieRebellion'', Homura retains her feelings for [[spoiler:Madoka]] even after she [[FaceHeelTurn goes insane]]. And by "retains" we mean that she literally reshaped the universe for the sole purpose of making [[spoiler:Madoka]] safe and happy. And by "insane" we mean that she wiped everyone's memories and depowered the goddess of hope.

* Rather infamously in ''{{Spider-Man}} Sins Past'', NormanOsborn took a shine to Gwen Stacy. And by that it means he [[spoiler:impregnated her, then murdered her to get the super-fast aging children.]]
** [[spoiler: Actually, the Green Goblin didn't murder her to get the children. Remember, he didn't hunt down Gwen and kidnap her, he captured her simply because she was at Peter Parker's apartment, and wanted to use her as leverage against Spider-Man. Had Gwen been his actual target, he would have gone to ''her'' residence.]]
** The Jackal's entire motivation was that he was in love with Gwen Stacy.
* In Marvel comics, the villain Whirlwind has a huge crush on TheWasp. He even [[NotMyDriver posed as her limo driver]] once.
* Umar, Comicbook/DoctorStrange villainess and sister to [[GodOfEvil Dormammu]] has a huge crush on [[Comicbook/IncredibleHulk The Hulk]]. She actually kept him as her love-slave for a while, but whether that counts as DatingCatwoman or BlackComedyRape is debated. [[http://www.comicbookresources.com/prev_img.php?pid=9307&pg=3 They've been reunited since.]]
* In his short lived series in the 70s, SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker fell in love with one [[ComicBook/BlackCanary Dinah Lance]] [[note]] This was during a period she was depowered however[[/note]]. [[InsaneTrollLogic He realizes]] he only has two choices, [[AndNowYouMustMarryMe force her to marry him]] or [[DisproportionateRetribution kill her]] because he won't be able focus on his crimes if he's thinking about her.
** Also in Batman, ComicBook/TwoFace had a long-standing obsession with Renee Montoya. While it did lead to her being able to act as his MoralityPet on a few occasions, it didn't end well, partially because of IncompatibleOrientation - Renee is very firmly a lesbian.
** The few times they do interact, Catwoman has a massive crush on Superman. It's completely one-sided and mostly played for laughs however.
* In her early appearance, poor [[Comicbook/TheFlash Iris Allen]] had the misfortune of being the object of [[AnIcePerson Captain Cold]] and [[EvilCounterpart Professor Zoom's]] affection. Both had nearly [[AndNowYouMustMarryMe forced her into marriage.]]

[[folder:Fan Fic]]
* ''FanFic/UltimateSpiderWoman'': When teenage misfit Ronald Hilliard went to a party and saw Spider-Woman fighting to protect the partygoers from the psychopathic [[ArchEnemy Jack O'Lantern]], he became convinced that [[ItsAllAboutMe Spider-Woman was fighting specifically to protect him.]] When he sees people criticizing her in the media, he uses his trust fund to turn himself into [[PsychoElectro an eletrically-charged monstrosity]] and starts murdering Spider-Woman's critics as a way of proving his "love" for her. Spider-Woman is horrified at what he's done, and bluntly tells him so. This causes Ronald, now calling himself Supercharger, to go into full-on {{Yandere}} mode and trying to kill Spider-Woman herself for "humiliating" him. Now, he's torn between his crush on her and his [[IfICantHaveYou obsession with killing her for "rejecting" him.]]
* In the ''Manga/DeathNote'' fic ''Fanfic/IWontSay'' Light/Kira towards L. [[DatingCatwoman He decides even though L is Kira's enemy there's no reason he still can't be his boyfriend]] especially since Light feels that he has already "won", having discovered L and Watari's [[IKnowYourTrueName true names]] and so [[HilarityEnsues he tries to persuade L that getting together would be the best thing for both of them.]] Though Light starts out kind of scary like a {{Yandere}}-ish StalkerWithACrush, a dose of LimaSyndrome later he becomes more of a DoggedNiceGuy as he works to earn L's affections.
* In the ''FanFic/MyHostageNotYours'' series, second BigBad [[spoiler: Iggins']] obsession with Gaz starts out as wanting revenge, but in the end it seems he's got a thing for her as well, judging by his jealousy of Zim and his actions after [[spoiler: he manages to brainwash Gaz into his slave]].
* In the ''[[VideoGame.TeamFortress2 Team Fortress 2]]'' fic ''Paternal,'' Bane, a purple Spy working for the Administrator, holds a villainous lust for the BLU Scout, [[IHaveYouNowMyPretty tying him up and forcefully kissing him on multiple occasions.]]
* In the ''FanFic/PonyPOVSeries'', [[spoiler: Discord's sister]] Rancor develops a thing for [[BadFuture Dark World!]][[BadassBookworm Spike]], constantly flirting with him during her presence in that StoryArc (much to Rarity's annoyance, as she and Spike are an OfficialCouple by that point).
** Also in Dark World, [[EvilOverlord Discord]] seems to have developed feelings for Pinkie Pie, as after [[spoiler: her [[HeelFaceTurn redemption]]]], he actually proposes to her [[spoiler: to get her back on his side. She politely, but strongly, refuses.]]
* ''[[Fanfic/AFutureOfFriendshipAHistoryOfHate A Future of Friendship, A History of Hate]]'': [[VillainWithGoodPublicity Megalos]] [[EvilPrince Tyrant]] -- one of [[BigBad Ruinate]]'s [[CoDragons heralds]] -- takes a(n obsessive) shine to Rarity, viewing her as the perfect mate to complete his "[[{{Narcissist}} perfect]]" lifestyle. As such, he[[spoiler:, in his [[BitchInSheepsClothing public]] [[SecretIdentity guise]] as [[PrinceCharming Regal Rule]], woos her and lures her away from her friends]] before trying to convince her to return to his kingdom and be his queen... and then [[AndNowYouMustMarryMe tries to abduct her when she refuses]]. And even though he's beaten, he swears [[WeWillMeetAgain to return for her]].
* In ''FanFic/ImperfectMetamorphosis'', [[HumanoidAbomination Yuuka]] has barely disguised lust towards Wriggle, and to a lesser extent the rest of Team 9. Predictably, Wriggle is horrified.
* ''Fanfic/ChildrenOfTime'': Professor Moriarty towards Beth Lestrade.
** The original pulls something of an IHaveYouNowMyPretty before his LastVillainStand, abusing Beth and petting her like a sex slave. (He leaves her virginity intact as a matter of chilling practicality: he doesn't have time before the heroes arrive.)
** The clone behaves more like a StalkerWithACrush, outright admitting to Beth's ''husband'', '''Literature/SherlockHolmes''', that he's been keeping an eye on her to ensure that she'll remain a WorthyOpponent. On the whole, he tends to address Beth more than he does Sherlock, apparently as part of his mind games.
* ''FanFic/MegaManRecut'' has Snake Man having a crush on Roll, though he doesn't realize it.
* In the ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'' fanfic [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10156375/1/My-Child My Child]], the [[FauxAffablyEvil demon]] [[OriginalCharacter Xaphan]] appears to find Levi attractive, speaking to him suggestively and calling him [[TermsOfEndangerment "my dear" and "my darling"]]. More frighteningly, Levi's thoughts all but state that [[spoiler: once Xaphan took Levi's soul and dragged him to hell, he [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil raped Levi]] [[NightmareFuel countless times]], among other tortures.]]
--> '''Xaphan''': Come now, we both know you don't mean it when you say you don't want me.

[[folder:Films -- Animated]]
* Pictured above: Frollo to Esmeralda in ''Disney/TheHunchbackOfNotreDame''. The VillainSong "Hellfire" is about his conflict over him lusting after her when she's a gypsy and he's a "righteous" man of the church.
* Gaston to Belle from ''Disney/BeautyAndTheBeast'', developing from a simple {{Jerkass}} PrinceCharmingWannabe to a {{Yandere}} out to MurderTheHypotenuse and throw her father in the asylum if she won't submit to him.
* Eris to Sinbad in ''WesternAnimation/SinbadLegendOfTheSevenSeas''.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Megamind}}'':
** The title character towards Roxanne since before the events of the film, as confirmed by the filmmakers' commentary. Neither of them realize until he [[spoiler: starts dating her as his alter-ego Bernard]] and everybody had assumed she and Metroman were an item (turns out they were JustFriends).
** [[spoiler:Hal/Titan]], who only wanted to be a superhero to get Roxanne's attention. When she rejects him, he turns into a villain.
* Maynott for [[HeroesWantRedheads Lucille]] in ''WesternAnimation/AMonsterInParis''. It's obvious he's eager to have her as a TrophyWife.
* In ''WesternAnimation/StrangeMagic'' Roland wants fairy princess Marianne as it would make him king. She nearly fell for it until he cheated on her on their wedding day. Now, he's still pursuing her despite her aversion to him.
** To a lesser extent, the Bog King is [[AntiHero painted as evil]] and [[CardCarryingVillain takes pride in his villainous title]], and is obviously impressed by Marianne from their first meeting. Unlike with Roland, however, Marianne realizes Bog's feelings are genuine, and ends up returning them.

[[folder:Films -- Live-Action]]
* Jareth to Sarah in ''Film/{{Labyrinth}}.'' Foreshadowed in Sarah's story to Toby at the beginning: "But the Goblin King had fallen in love with the girl..." He sends her into a dreamlike state featuring a DanceOfRomance between them, and at the end, he (albeit slightly ambiguously) offers her the chance to [[WeCanRuleTogether stay with him and be loved by him]] if she gives up her quest.
* Ming the Merciless seemed pretty hung up on Dale Arden in ''Film/FlashGordon''.
* Mr. Barnaby (the Crooked Little Man) for Contrary Mary (or Mary Contrary, in the Creator/{{Disney}} version) in Victor Herbert's ''Theatre/BabesInToyland'' and the analogous Little Bo-Peep in ''Film/MarchOfTheWoodenSoldiers'', the Creator/LaurelAndHardy version
* {{Subverted}} in ''Film/ThePrincessBride''. It appears that Prince Humperdinck is in love with Buttercup, but it turns out that he just wants to marry her so he can arrange for her to be killed and then use her death to justify a war with the scapegoats.
* Dark Helmet for Princess Vespa in ''Film/{{Spaceballs}}'', from what you can tell in the scene where he plays with his action figures.
* Rippner to Lisa in ''Film/RedEye''.
* Joker for Vicki Vale in ''Film/{{Batman}}''.
** While we're at it, the Riddler seems to have a bit of one on Chase Meridian in ''Film/BatmanForever'' - when he's not crushing on Bruce Wayne, that is.
* Blue for Baby Doll in ''Film/SuckerPunch''.
* Tod to Marge in ''Film/MomAndDadSaveTheWorld''.
* J.D. in ''Film/{{Heathers}}''. After Veronica breaks up with him after he starts murdering other teenagers for fun, J.D. is still very much in love with her.
* ''Film/SchindlersList''. Nazi Camp Kommandant Amon Goeth has one on Helen Hirsch, his Jewish maid. This leaves him conflicted because he believes her to be inferior to him.
* Aldrich Killian for Pepper Potts in ''Film/IronMan3''.
* In TwelveYearsASlave, slave owner Edwin Epps has one on his slave Patsey. WordOfGod says he's deeply in love with her but he has an odd and ''very abusive'' way of showing it.
* Cal has one on Rose in ''Film/{{Titanic 1997}}''.
* Ned to Julie in ''[[TheKarateKid The Next Karate Kid]]''. [[NotGoodWithRejection He punishes her if she rejects his advances]].
* In ''Film/CabinByTheLake'', VillainProtagonist Stanley seems to develop some sort of odd fixation on his victim Mallory for standing up to him and escaping him once before. There's a WindowLove scene with a two-way mirror [[IKnowYoureWatchingMe which she punches when she realizes what he's doing]], and when he tries to drown her once again near the end he also starts to lean in for a kiss as she's terrified out of her mind.

* Creator/EdgarRiceBurroughs has a few:
** In ''[[Literature/JohnCarterOfMars Thuvia, Maid of Mars]]''. Carthoris is in love with the title character, who is also desired by the {{Villain}}, Prince Astok of Dusar.
** ''Literature/AtTheEarthsCore'', in which Hooja the Sly One lusts after David Innes's beloved Dian the Beautiful.
* The Phantom's obsessive infatuation with Christine in ''Literature/ThePhantomOfTheOpera''. Leads to StockholmSyndrome on Christine's side and ends with IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy on the Phantom's side. The narrator pities him more than condemns him.
* William Hamleigh for Aliena in ''Literature/ThePillarsOfTheEarth'', although that's more of a Perverse Villainous Obsession variant.
* Billy "Boil" seems to have one on the titular heroine of the ''Literature/CatRoyal'' series of books, although how much of a villain he is varies from book to book.
* Played with in ''Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire'' with [[MagnificentBastard Littlefinger's]] affection for his childhood friend Catelyn Stark, and later on [[spoiler: [[ReplacementGoldfish her daughter]] [[BreakTheCutie Sansa]].]] He was an [[UsedToBeASweetKid idealistic and rather adorable kid]] when he fell in love with Cat, but the ensuing [[TraumaCongaLine line of events]] that put an end to that matter led to his [[StartOfDarkness moral backsliding]] into a schemer and a scoundrel (or as much a scoundrel a prominent public figure can be). However, it never really ended his feelings towards those ladies, and much of his development came from the offense of falling for a lady who was above his social status.
* Burgo Fitzgerald for Glencora M'Cluskie and George for Alice Vavasor in [[Creator/AnthonyTrollope Trollope's]] ''Can You Forgive Her?''.
* In Literature/PhoenixRising by Creator/RykESpoor, by [[spoiler:Aran aka Condor]] for Kyri.
* ''Franchise/HarryPotter'': [[spoiler: Snape]]'s unrequited love for Lily Evans. [[spoiler:Though it's somewhat debatable that he even counts as a villain, seeing as everything he's done in life after Lily's death was to protect her son, Harry Potter. Even if he [[JerkAss treated him like shit]] because of [[CrazyJealousGuy petty jealousy]] over him being the son of James, who was TheRival to him.]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* Spike from ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' has this trope down to a tee. When he first (canonically) falls for Buffy, he's still in total opposition to her and the Scoobies' goals, and yet is blatantly head over heels for her. Buffy's mom asks if she might have lead him on unintentionally, to which Buffy replies that she beats him up a lot. [[CombatSadomasochist Which for Spike is pretty much the same thing.]]
* Unfortunately for [[CampGay Kurt]] on ''{{Glee}}'', [[spoiler:[[JerkJock David Karofsky]], his main [[ArmouredClosetGay homophobic]] [[YouAreWhatYouHate bully]], has one on him, and he only finds out when he's given a ForcefulKiss]].
** Yet again to Kurt's misfortune, Season 3 introduces Sebastian Smythe, who is adamant on taking Blaine, Kurt's boyfriend, for himself.
* On ''Series/{{Heroes}}'', even though he already taken her power, Sylar appears to have a creepy thing for Claire.
* On ''Series/{{Luther}}'' the eponymous detective has to deal with the uncomfortable fact that his closest friend and confidante, and most reliable source of help is NietzscheWannabe ManipulativeBastard and [[TheSociopath thorough psychopath]] Alice Morgan. That alone would be bad enough, but as many of Alice's lines suggest, she may well have a thing for Luther.
* There were indications in Season Two that how Lord Zedd felt about Kimberly in ''Series/MightyMorphinPowerRangers'' was not just FoeYay subtext, especially with the episode he tried to make her his queen.
** A filler episode of ''Series/PowerRangersNinjaStorm'' suggests comic relief villain Choobo had one on Tori, the only female ranger on that team.
* ''Series/MurdochMysteries'': It's implied that the young psychopath James Gillies is attracted to Detective William Murdoch after the former kisses the latter on the mouth for a full three seconds in "Midnight Train to Kingston." It has been hinted throughout the series that Gillies is gay, and it seems natural that he would be drawn to a handsome, intelligent man like Murdoch. Robert Perry, who was presumably James' boyfriend in an earlier episode, is somewhat similar to the detective in that he was also dark-haired, comely, mild-mannered and smart.
* ''{{Smallville}}''
** Meteor freaks on [[CreatorsPet Lana]]. Oh so many times. Even lampshaded once.
-->'''Random student''': Lana Lang. How original.
** [[SerialKiller Davis Bloome]] on Chloe in Season 8 [[spoiler:although it is later revealed to be part of {{Brainiac}}'s programming]].
** Sometimes [[CorruptCorporateExecutive Tess]] [[DarkActionGirl Mercer]] seems to have one on [[{{Superman}} Clark]]. It is a lot more explicit in some deleted scenes.
-->'''Tess''': You have to stop thinking me as ''just'' your boss.
** And then there was the whole [[ManipulativeBastard Lex]] / [[DamselScrappy Lana]] mess in Seasons 5 & 6.
*** Not to mention his noticable obsession with [[{{Supergirl}} Kara]].
** [[MagnificentBastard Lionel's]] unrequited crush on Martha which ran for most of the show.
* Appears to be the case with Michael in ''Series/StargateAtlantis''. Since Teyla was the only person to treat him nicely during his introductory episode, Michael becomes attached to her and, even after she has betrayed him repeatedly (in his own words), he still hopes he can convince her to come away with him.
* On ''Series/TheVampireDiaries'', [[BigBad Klaus Mikaelson]] has one on [[TheCutie Caroline]] [[FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Forbes]].
** Damon for Elena.
** Katherine for Stefan and also Matt, although she never does more than talk about how hot he is.
* Ares has it bad for ''XenaWarriorPrincess'', to the point where his motivation throughout the show is to win her love.
* ''Series/DoctorWho'': Fans had long speculated about the UnresolvedSexualTension between the Doctor and his arch-enemy, the Master. Over the years, the writers decided more and more often to have a bit of fun with it, eventually developing the storyline into a narrative full of FoeYay. It took a couple of decades, but the Master [[spoiler:(now a woman)]] eventually pushed the Doctor up against the nearest wall and got in a nice long proper snog.
* [[spoiler: Grant Ward]] from ''Series/AgentsOfShield'' has a pretty obsessive one on Skye, especially in season 2.

[[folder:Professional Wrestling]]
* In Wrestling/RingOfHonor, Wrestling/JimmyJacobs has it ''bad'' for good guy Adam Cole. He's open-mouthed kissed Cole on at least one occasion, and taking this to an unusually meta level, has propositioned Cole for sex on Twitter.

[[folder:Tabletop Games]]
* ''TabletopGame/{{Shadowrun}}'' adventure ''Harlequin's Back''. In the {{backstory}}, a Horror fell in love with Queen Thayla and refused to leave her, even though his presence was destroying her land. She eventually decided to leave with him to save her people from destruction.

* Judge Turpin of ''Theatre/SweeneyToddTheDemonBarberOfFleetStreet'' developed two of these. The first was on Sweeney's wife, Lucy Barker, which ultimately led him to kick off the plot by having Sweeney transported for life, followed by luring her to a masked ball and raping her. The second was on Sweeney and Lucy's daughter Johanna, who he adopted out of remorse for what he did to Lucy but [[WifeHusbandry came to desire as more than a daughter]] as she grew older.
** Mrs. Lovett has one for Sweeney Todd himself, though they're both more VillainProtagonist than heroes.
* Jud for Laurey in ''{{Oklahoma}}'', though how much one considers Jud to be a villain is up for debate.
* Count Gregor for Sophia in ''{{Fools}}''.
* [[ManipulativeBitch Abigail Williams]] has one on John Proctor in ''Theater/TheCrucible''.

* ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'' is the longest-running and best known example in gaming, due to the sheer number of times [[OurDragonsAreDifferent Bowser]] has kidnapped [[PrincessClassic Princess Peach]], to try to force her to marry him. It's the reason why they're the ones providing the page image for the DamselInDistress trope.
* Darth Sion of ''KnightsOfTheOldRepublic II'' developed an interest in the female Exile immediately after seeing her; his crush was so intense, it was threatening his connection to the Dark Side, and therefore his life.
* ''[[VideoGame/SkiesOfArcadia Skies of Arcadia: Legends]]'' invokes it in the form of BlackComedy, by having [[CasanovaWannabe Admiral Vigoro]] attempt to rape [[PirateGirl Aika]] in her prison cell, when he first lays eyes on her. Despite being foiled by Vyse and Gilder, he remains persistent and convices himself that he can win her over by defeating Vyse[[note]]who Vigoro [[MistakenForRomance mistakenly assumes]] to be Aika's boyfriend[[/note]]. You'll have to fight him over her in [[RecurringBoss three separate boss battles]] (including one ship battle), though [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_8JwmnN0pg he finally relents]] after being defeated for the third time.
-->'''Vigoro:''' "You win, Vyse. The strongest man has the right to be with the finest woman."
* Combined with LesYay in ''{{Shantae}}''. BigBad Risky keeps oscillating between threatening our heroine and trying to flirt with her.
* ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV'': Kain is jealous of his best friend Cecil for winning the heart of Rosa, the apple of his eye. Does he MurderTheHypotenuse? Thankfully, no. Kain is ultimately accepting of his status as the UnluckyChildhoodFriend and [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy hides his feelings for Rosa out of respect for the trio's deep friendship.]] Unfortunately, [[EnemyWithout Dark Kain]] [[LoveMakesYouEvil does not value his better half's reservations]], even going as far as to pull an IHaveYouNowMyPretty moment [[http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110201201215/finalfantasy/images/c/c9/FF4PSPDarkKainFMV.jpg when he captures Rosa]] in ''[[VideoGame/FinalFantasyIVTheAfterYears The After Years]]''.
* ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII'': When you have an encounter with the [[QuirkyMinibossSquad Turks]] outside of Gongaga on the second continent, you bump into them gossiping like schoolgirls about who likes who. Turns out Rude has a crush on Tifa (which can be exploited to the player's advantage - he holds back against her in boss battles), and Tseng likes Aerith.
* ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'': Seymour Guado has one on Yuna, resulting in a ForcefulKiss. Made squickier by the fact that Yuna [[ActingForTwo shares a voice actress]] [[LikeParentLikeSpouse with Seymour's]] ''[[OedipusComplex mother]]''.
* ''VideoGame/LightningReturnsFinalFantasyXIII'': It's clearer in the Japanese version, but the FinalBoss and overall BiggerBad, [[spoiler:Bhunivelze]], has some very suggestive dialogue towards Lightning. When you take into account his [[spoiler:possession of [[ImpliedLoveInterest Hope]]]], the implication is that he [[spoiler:was influenced by Hope's own feelings to be obsessed with her.]]
* In ''[[FinalFight Final Fight Revenge]]'', Mad Gears member Poison develops a crush on Cody, and visits him in jail (despite the fact it's her fault he's there because she framed him). Note that this was [[AmbiguousGender before the official confirmation]] that Poison was a post-op transsexual, but it was still rather bizarre. (She acts very feminine in this particular game.)
* ''VideoGame/FireEmblemJugdral'': Apparently, King Travant had some feelings for Sigurd's younger sister Ethlyn. Too bad she was already HappilyMarried to Duke Quan. [[spoiler: And even worse: Travant later ''killed them both'' in the war and took their daughter Altenna into his household so she would use Quan's signature weapon, the Gae Bolg, for him.]]
** ''VideoGame/FireEmblemTheSacredStones'': Mix this with {{Yandere}}, IHaveYouNowMyPretty and DragonRider, and you have Valter the Moonstone's thoughts towards Princess Eirika. Her reaction when she finds out can be summed in a simple and ''very'' understandable "WTF?!".
*** Some speculate that Valter's [[LightNovel/FullMetalPanic Gauron-esque]] obsession with [[HoYay Eirika's brother Prince Ephraim]] might count as well.
** Averted in ''VideoGame/FireEmblemAwakening''. While [[spoiler: [[DarkActionGirl Aversa]], [[TheEmperor Walhart]], and [[TheCaligula Gangrel]] can develop romantic feelings for the Avatar of their opposite genders if the player so desires... but they only do so ''after'' their {{Heel Face Turn}}s and recruitments.]]
* ''ValkyrieProfile'': [[StalkerWithACrush Lezard]] is fascinated by Lenneth and would do [[LoveMakesYouEvil anything]] to get her for himself. [[MisaimedFandom The fans]] [[DracoInLeatherPants don't mind though]].
* In ''VideoGame/ImmortalSouls'', the crazy vampire the Black Witch is very much into the hero John, openly flirting with him every time they meet. It's implied the attraction is why she turned him into a vampire, and [[BigGood Isis]] [[MegaCorp Corporation]] also "recruited" John mainly so they could use her attraction to their advantage. John is pretty {{squick}}ed out by the whole deal (mostly [[IHateYouVampireDad understandably pissed off she turned him]]), but does take (non-sexual) advantage of the matter sometimes.
* Ghosts are typically the most common antagonist in ''PacMan'' but that doesn't stop Pinky from having a crush on Pac.
* Cia of ''Videogame/HyruleWarriors'' is driven by her obsession with Link and jealousy towards Zelda for being the one that he'll always save. Most notably, her personal Temple of Souls is essentially a StalkerShrine covered with portraits and sculptures of various incarnations of Link, with her personal room being completely covered with portraits of him.
* Eliza of ''Videogame/SkullGirls'' is very keen on the Parasite Samson. Her pre-battle opening dialogue is marked by disdain for his current host Filia and asking him to [[WeCanRuleTogether join her]] [[IfICantHaveYou or else]]. In her story path, she ultimately [[spoiler:seals up Filia and Samson with blood to keep Samson alive until she can find another host for him.]] The feeling is ''not'' [[ArchEnemy reciprocated]].
* ''VideoGame/FirstEncounterAssaultRecon'' ''2: Project Origin'' has one of the most utterly horrific examples of this trope you'll ever see. Over the course of the second game, Alma winds up falling madly in love with Sergeant Beckett, which is bad because Alma is an AxCrazy ghost girl who appears as a stark naked zombie-like corpse, spends most of her free time {{Mind Rap|e}}ing and liquefying people, and is far too psychologically damaged to fully understand her feelings. You know all those [[PressXToNotDie times you have to fend her off]] in hand-to-hand throughout the game? She's not trying to ''hurt'' Beckett, she's trying to ''rape'' him. [[spoiler:It gets worse in the ending, where he's strapped down to a chair and Alma walks over with this smug "I've finally got you right where I want you" body language and slowly leans in for a kiss...]]

* ''Webcomic/{{Sinfest}}'''s [[HornyDevil Fuchsia]] / [[CuteBookworm Criminy]] romantic subplot [[http://www.sinfest.net/view.php?date=2009-01-07 started out]] when the [[DepravedBisexual seductive succubus Fuchsia]] took an interest in [[IncorruptiblePurePureness Criminy]] for the purpose of corrupting his innocence. When he [[GoodFeelsGood treated her kindly]], she was reminded of her humanity and [[http://www.sinfest.net/view.php?date=2009-03-15 developed a crush on him]]. They gradually started spending more time together, leading to positive CharacterDevelopment for both of them, as Fuchsia genuinely tried to become the good girl she thought Criminy would like, while Criminy came out of his shell, matured, and arguably TookALevelInBadass for her sake.
* Galgarion from ''RPGWorld'' apparently has some crush on Cherry.
* A spoileriffic but amusing one from ''Webcomic/{{Homestuck}}'': [[spoiler:Jack Noir, the sort-of BigBad, has developed a crush on PM, who [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge wants nothing more than his horrible, bloody demise]]. Given [[AllergicToLove Jack's previous reaction to the entire idea of affection]], his response to this realization is to run away.]]
** Caliborn seems to have a little bit of a crush on Dirk, though it ''might'' just be a platonic bro-crush. He also has a hatecrush on his [[SplitPersonality "sister"]], but that's [[BizarreAlienReproduction normal for cherubs]].
* In ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'', maybe Zola was faking weakness every time Gil had to rescue her, but her love for him remains after she revealed being way more dangerous than she looks.
** Depending how you interpret him, Tarvek may be this (crush undisputed, villainy not certain). And Gil, but he's rather an AntiHero. Given that all four characters thus mentioned are very powerful and not strictly aligned players in European politics, FriendOrFoe becomes a complicated question.
* Dinah Might from ''Webcomic/EverydayHeroes'' seems to be a [[http://www.webcomicsnation.com/eddurd/everydayheroes/series.php?view=single&ID=214512 fan of Mr. Mighty.]] At first it looks like this is just a distraction to help her and her boss escape; later, though, it looks as if there is some [[http://www.webcomicsnation.com/eddurd/everydayheroes/series.php?view=single&ID=215052 genuine attraction.]]
* Peridot from ''Webcomic/CucumberQuest'' has a pretty blatant crush on Almond (If you don't believe it, [[WordOfGay ask Gigi Digi]]). Being the little brat that she is, she mostly shows it through being {{Tsundere}}. Almond is ''very'' aware and [[TheGadfly likes to toy with her about it.]]
-->'''Almond''': You just can't stay away, can you?
-->'''Peridot''': Sh-''SHUT UP!''

[[folder:Web Originals]]
* [[AntiVillain Dr. Horrible]], of ''WebVideo/DoctorHorriblesSingAlongBlog'', has a crush on a local do-gooder, but his arch-nemesis [[AntiHero hero]] beats him to the punch. Unusually, Dr. Horrible is more of a WellIntentionedExtremist, while the so-called hero is an [[SmugSuper arrogant]] [[{{Jerkass}} bully]] who only dates the girl to make the protagonist jealous.
* In ''[[DNAKpts4tv Death Note: The Abridged Series (kpts4tv)]]'' Light has an obvious crush on L. [[ManipulativeBastard L, for his part, takes full advantage of this and agrees to go out with him for the investigation.]]
-->'''Light:''' Well, we've been outside talking for awhile and we've decided to make it official. '''''I LOVE L! AND HE LOVES ME!''''' I'm going to dump Misa so I can be with L!
-->'''Everyone:''' ''Gasp''
-->'''L:''' [[HilarityEnsues No, I think you've misinterpreted the situation...]]
* In keeping with her role as MemeticSexGoddess of TGWTG, WebVideo/AskThatGuyWithTheGlasses is implied to have a crush on Creator/AllisonPregler. (Not so much since he fired her IRL.) He's also slept with AntiHero champion of the universe Linkara.

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'': [[PerkyFemaleMinion Ty Lee's]] one-sided crush on Sokka was an amicable example, since he was flattered by it in ''"The Drill"'' episode. Though he later tells her that he was already seeing Suki, in ''"The Crossroads of Destiny"''.
* In the "Super Powers Team" incarnation of ''{{Superfriends}}'', Darkseid had a crush on WonderWoman and constantly tried to make her his bride.
* One time on ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' Marge got a job at the nuclear plant and Mr. Burns developed a thing for her.
* A 1935 [[WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes Merrie Melodies]] short, "[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cWTEwpGsc8 The Little Dutch Plate]]'', where it is rather creepily subverted.
* PlayedForLaughs on ''WesternAnimation/WordGirl,'' with [[GadgeteerGenius Tobey McCallister]]'s crush on the titular character. She almost always rebuffs him, but there are some cases of legitimate ShipTease between them.
* Martian Queen towards ''WesternAnimation/DuckDodgers''. Seriously, the woman veers between wanting to destroy him and wanting to marry him.
* Princess Attea towards Ben [[spoiler:in his Inkursian form Bullfrag]] in ''WesternAnimation/Ben10Omniverse''. To Ben's chagrin, the feeling is mutual [[spoiler:as Bullfrag]].
* Agent Bishop is ''very'' affectionate towards Karai when he has her captured in ''WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2003'', spending half the episode kicking the asses of Hun and the Turtles, and the other half admiring Karai and going on about how lovely she is.
** While we're talking about the Turtles, in ''WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1987'', [[BigBad the Shredder]] seemed to have a thing for [[HotScoop April]].
* In one episode of ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'', Red X flirted with Starfire after pinning her to the wall with one of his gadgets, calling her "cutie" and remarking that the "only crime" between them was that they hadn't gone on a date. (Her only response was to blast him with her starbolts through her eyes.)
