Men are usually bigger/taller than women, right? Well, most of the time, but there are cases in which a woman will be taller than her love interest, either because she's unusually tall or because he's unusually short. Sometimes it's both; sometimes the girl is a good deal wider than the guy as well. Generally the first example goes under StatuesqueStunner, while the second goes in BigBeautifulWoman, but either one could also be an AmazonianBeauty.

When this trope happens, the guy might feel [[NoGuyWantsAnAmazon self-conscious]] about dating a woman larger than him, or the girl might feel [[AllAmazonsWantHercules similarly insecure]] about dating a man much shorter/smaller than her (and let's not talk about if she wears ''heels''...). But in other cases, the guy will find a woman attractive not ''despite'' how tall she is, but partly [[StatuesqueStunner because of it]]. Of course, this particular height-contrast lends itself to what the boyfriend might call [[MarshmallowHell Marshmallow Heaven]].

Naturally, the CounterTrope of HugeGuyTinyGirl and OneHeadTaller. Can be related to UglyGuyHotWife if the man has cartoonish features while the woman is more realistically proportioned. It may overlap with AmazonianBeauty, StatuesqueStunner, BigBeautifulWoman, or ChubbyMamaSkinnyPapa. MasculineGirlFeminineBoy is a SisterTrope, and the two are often found together.

!!Examples:

[[folder:Advertising]]
* A series of British {{Public Service Announcement}}s during the 1960s featured a cartoon couple called Joe and Petunia, who would get into dangerous situations to show the viewer what not to do. Joe was drawn as a tiny little man while Petunia was obese and almost twice as tall.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'' - Yuri Zahard, who is two heads taller than her dwarfish guide Evan Edrok.
* In ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam0083StardustMemory'', the AmazonianBeauty DarkSkinnedRedhead WrenchWench Moira Bascht and the ButtMonkey pilot Chuck Keith end up becoming the BetaCouple (or at least are implied to do so). Moira stands head and shoulders over Keith, and is obviously more muscular then he is.
* ''Anime/DragonBallZ'': Krillin is noticeably shorter than his wife C-18 (who's the tallest female character in the show) and practically every other character of the series (Gohan was the same height as him when he was ''four years old''). Although this just might be inconsistent height, considering he's 5'0 and was as tall as Gohan when he was 9/10
* Cibo and Killy of the manga series ''Manga/{{Blame}}'', with Cibo being a good deal taller than Killy. [[spoiler:At least, at first.]]
* Lampshaded in ''Anime/LibraryWar'', in which Kasahara is noticeably taller than her love interest and superior Dojo, to his annoyance.
* The parrot in ''Anime/TimeBokan'' has a large domineering wife.
* In ''Manga/SuperDreadnoughtGirl4946'', short guy Makoto Tokida ends up befriending and forming a relationship with the nearly fifty-meter tall Mana Eimiya. She insists her height is 49 metres 46 centimetres; it's important to her because ''shorter girls are cuter, right?'' There's also Kotou Akemi and [[GenderBlenderName Isaac Montana]], who both tried to win him over Mana.
* In ''Manga/ShamanKing'', Oyamada Manta's father is about his height (in the neighborhood of 80 centimeters tall); his mother, on the other hand, is of normal height (and noticeably better-looking)
* ''Anime/GunXSword'': A mild antagonist version; Fasalina is clearly a head and few inches taller than Michael.
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'': Division 10's Vice Captain Rangiku Matsumoto (172 cm, or 5'7 3/4") and Captain Toushirou Hitsugaya (133 cm, or 4'4"), the woman being massive in at least one area... [[BuxomIsBetter More like two areas, though.]] Additionally, Hitsugaya with the otherwise normally-sized Momo Hinamori of Division 5 (151 cm, 4'11").
* ''Manga/{{Claymore}}'': Riful and Dauf (Awakened form), and Clare and Raki (pre-timeskip).
* The whole premise of ''Manga/LovelyComplex''. Koizumi (171 cm tall: HugeSchoolgirl) and Otani (158 cm tall: TheNapoleon) are often seen as a sort of comedic duo due to their height discrepancies and it becomes a popular game to imagine what kind of odd couple they'd make together. For better or worse, they start falling for each other...
** It's also hinted that [[spoiler: this is a case of GenerationXerox, as Koizumi's grandparents were also like this... and they faced LOTS of hardships. This ''may'' explain why Koizumi's now widowed grandfather hates Otani so much - he fears that he won't be able to make Koizumi happy if they stay together.]])
* ''VideoGame/ZoneOfTheEnders: Dolores, i'', in a non-romantic ([[PrecociousCrush sorta]]), platonic way: The old veteran pilot stuck together with a [[RidiculouslyHumanRobots sentient]] [[HumongousMecha mecha]] with a [[GenkiGirl little girl's personality]].
* ''Manga/OnePiece'': Monkey D. Luffy clocks in at just over five-foot-seven. His enthusiastic admirer, the pirate empress Boa Hancock, towers over him at a statuesque ''six-foot-three''. (For bonus amusement, she's also 12 years his senior, making them if not a MayDecemberRomance than at least a May August...Whatever The Heck Is Going On There.)
** [[spoiler:He's now befriended Shirahoshi, the biggest mermaid alive, whose size is comparable to their ship. It has yet to be seen whether she will develop romantic feelings for him, but it's safe to say that if she does, [[ChasteHero they won't be reciprocated]].]]
** [[spoiler: Miss Monday and Mr 9 became an OfficialCouple version of this trope during the time skip; they even have a baby to seal the deal.]]
* ''Manga/{{Trigun}}'':
** Millie and either Vash or Meryl is a platonic example.
*** Vash and Wolfwood are both rather average sized. But Wolfwood with Millie becomes this trope, while Vash becomes the [[HugeGuyTinyGirl Huge Guy with Meryl]].
** In the anime, the Nebraskas. Pa Nebraska is a tiny, ugly, ancient-looking man. His wife, Ma Nebraska, basically looks like Gofsef (the giant deformed cyborg who is so huge that Pa rides around in his pocket) with breasts and hair. Except she may be even bigger than her giant son, at least a head taller.
* ''Anime/MacrossFrontier'': Michel Blanc and Klan Klang (often a full-sized Zentraedi). That is, if Klan isn't Micloned. If she does, the trope is HugeGuyTinyGirl instead, as she looks [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld much]] [[{{Lolicon}} smaller and younger]] than her real age.
** Max and Myria Jenius from [[Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross the first series]], although they only encountered each other in her original size [[DefectingForLove once]]... [[RuleThirtyFour that we know of.]]
* Inoue Kazurou's short story ''Aoi Destruction'', where the titular character is a [[OlderThanTheyLook 38 year old]] pint-[[FunSize sized]] [[DudeLooksLikeALady Hot "Loli" Dad]] and his late wife was a [[TheBigGuy overwhelmingly hulking]] [[MightyGlacier pile of muscle]].
* Anime/{{Ponyo}}'s parents. Her mother, Granmammare, can hold her father Fujimoto in the palm of her hand, when she's at full size. He's not particularly tiny, though -- she's just ''really'' big.
** Just to make it clear, Granmammare is the personification of the OCEAN! Fujimoto used to be a regular human, and now at least still APPEARS human. Thus, it's extremely understandable that she'd be bigger than him.
* ''Manga/MagicKnightRayearth'': Tiny SpiritAdvisor Clef (who's ReallySevenHundredYearsOld) and either Umi Ryuzaki or Presea [[spoiler: (add Presea's BackupTwin Sierra, if you follow the anime)]], whether their affections for him are romantic or not (at least [[AllLoveIsUnrequited onesided]] from Presea [[spoiler: and Sierra]], Umi's case is a bit more debatable).
* ''Take On Me'' centers on Tomonori Tsuda (scrawny and about 5' 1" (156 cm)) and Oono Hikaru ([[HugeSchoolgirl just shy of 6' (182 cm) and capable of walking off with Tsuda tucked under her arm]]). Since it is ''that'' [[{{Hentai}} sort]] [[PornWithPlot of]] {{Manga}} there are a few amusingly awkward scenes that cannot be described here.
* The [[OfficialCouple main couple]] of HugeSchoolgirl, Ayako, and Mamoru, in ''LightNovel/MamoruKunNiMegamiNoShukufukuWo'' is this trope. He comes a bit short of her shoulders.
* Kaoru of ''Manga/NanaToKaoru'' is really short and skinny, while Nana is a statuesque brunette who's two/three inches taller. One chapter shows he has to stand on tiptoe to whisper into her ear.
* From ''LightNovel/{{Katanagatari}}'' we have Chouchou, who is roughly the size of a child, and Oshidori, who is the tallest female character.
* In ''Manga/SoulEater'', Tsubaki is noticeably taller than her meister Black Star, and Liz is taller than Death the Kid. The girls are also quite a bit older. Between the beginning and end of the manga, Kid seems to grow by a ridiculous degree, going from two heads shorter than Liz to her equal in height. How much is supposed to be an actual change in height (there appears to be an unspecified Time Skip after the Baba Yaga arc) rather than ArtEvolution is hard to say.
* In ''Anime/YuGiOh'', we have Tea, who is somewhat tall, and Yugi, who is pretty much a midget. In the PoolEpisode, Joey realizes how odd a ship of them would be.
** She's also taller than Yami Yugi/[[spoiler:Atemu]]. Mai is even taller than both of them.
* Pietro's parents in ''Popolocrois''. Doubles as InterspeciesRomance, since his mom is a dragon.
* [[NobleDemon Hiei]] from ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'' is significantly smaller than his prospective LoveInterest [[DarkActionGirl Mukuro]] with whom the BelligerentSexualTension is very present.
* Makken and Leyte in ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann''.
* Mizuki and Akira from ''Manga/AiOreLoveMe''.
* Haruyuki and Kuroyukihime from ''LightNovel/AccelWorld''.
* Yui and Kei from ''Manga/HououGakuenMisoragumi''.
* Koichi and Yukako from ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure''.
* More-or-less every straight Edward Elric pairing is this in ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist''. For most of the manga he's 4'11 - 5'2, though he outgrows it.
** Major Alex Louis Armstrong's parent also count. Mrs. Armstrong is as tall as Alex, but with a very graceful figure. Mr. Armstrong is only half as tall as his wife and son, but has a muscular build that HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THE ARMSTRONG LINE FOR GENERATIONS!
* Luchino from ''LightNovel/{{Baccano}}'' is a smallish teenage boy. [[CoolBigSis Aging]], on the other hand, stands well over two meters and is described as having a build like Michelangelo's David, but with breasts and 50% more muscle. Luchino barely reaches up to her chest.
* ''Anime/SteelAngelKurumi'' and the 12-year old protagonist Nakahito.
* The protagonists of ''Manga/HoukagoPlay'''s first volume.
* In ''Manga/{{Ratman}}'' [[ObliviousToLove Shuto Katsuragi]] and both of his... well, kind-of-LoveInterest, Mirea Mizushima and Rio Kizaki.
* Downplayed in ''Manga/AhMyGoddess'', where it's only an issue because Keichii is insecure about his height, whereas Belldandy doesn't care and is only slightly taller than he is anyway.
* In the ''Anime/MazingerZ'' SpinOff ''Manga/NewMazinger'', this is taken UpToEleven with Major Kabuto (human-sized) and Princess Krishna (Mazinger-sized... around eighteen-meters tall). He understandably complains she is the most beautiful woman he has found, but they are the wrong size.
* While at this point more of a platonic couple, Yuriko and Dai'chi in ''Manga/{{Kotoura-san}}'' are also an example.
* In ''Manga/GekkanShoujoNozakiKun'' there's [[{{Bifauxnen}} Kashima]] (176cm) and Hori (164cm). The former will tease the latter about being too short to play lead roles in the drama club but she's still his {{Fangirl}}.
* Natsuru from ''Kamisama Ga Uo O Tsuku'' is a normal height for eleven but the girl he falls for, Suzumura, is tall for her age.
* A given for [[Manga/SoredemoSekaiWaUtsukushii the 12-year-old Livius and the older Nike]]. The height difference is even greater in the anime where Nike seems to have aged up.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* ''ComicBook/{{Asterix}}'': Geriatrix, being in his 90s, would be pretty short even if he wasn't always hunched over. His [[UglyGuyHotWife drop-dead-gorgeous wife]] is one of the tallest gauls in the village (and most of that height is ''leg'').
* Creator/DCComics:
** [[ComicBook/NewGods Scott Free]] and Big Barda. [[http://katiecandraw.deviantart.com/art/big-barda-and-mr-miracle-95109646 Awww, so cute.]]
** Also with Scott Free's Manager Oberon and Fire.
** Post-''ComicBook/ZeroHour'' ''ComicBook/{{Legion Of Super-Heroes}}'' had Monstress and Element Lad, which might also count as BeastAndBeauty except for the fact that Monstress doesn't have a "Beast" personality.
** Nightwing and Starfire of ''[[ComicBook/TeenTitans Titans]]'' fame. He's only short relative to other superheroes, but ''she'' is almost two meters tall. ''More'', counting her hair.
*** They stay like this even in the animated version, where she's somewhat shorter and has normal hair.
** {{Sizeshifter}}s Giganta and ComicBook/TheAtom ([[AffirmativeActionLegacy Ryan Choi]]) used to be an item. Even with both at normal size, she has several inches on him.
** Similarly, Andromeda and Brainiac 5 of ''ComicBook/{{Legion of Super-Heroes}}''.
* Creator/MarvelComics
** From the ''ComicBook/AlphaFlight'' series, the towering [[NighInvulnerability Diamond Lil]] and average-height [[{{Technopath}} Madison Jeffries]].
** Also from ''Alpha Flight'', when Heather Hudson briefly dated Puck, a dwarf.
** Technically, when Ant-Man shrinks down to use his PowerPerversionPotential.
** ComicBook/{{She-Hulk}} and Wyatt Wingfoot, when they were dating. Note that Wyatt Wingfoot is actually a pretty large fellow (he's taller than say, Reed Richards or Johnny Storm). Really, she has ended up being taller than every man she dated seriously.
** ComicBook/{{Wolverine}} and almost any woman he dates. At 5'3", even his teenage "sidekicks" Jubilee and Kitty Pryde are taller.
* Creator/HarveyComics:
** Long-running character Little Lotta, a large BigEater with near super strength, has Gerald, a stereotypical puny bookworm, for a guy pal.
* Creator/AvatarPress:
** Christos Gage's ''Absolution'' has Alpha, a female [[NighInvulnerability Brick]], well over six feet tall and happily married to a non-metahuman man of considerably more average proportions.
* ''ComicBook/{{Agent 327}}'': Agent 327 and Olga Lawina.
* ''Creator/TangentComics'' has the MisterBig Doll Man and his moll, the tall, muscular Big Barda
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* A nonromantic example with allies Xenilla (a.k.a Spacegodzilla) and Destroyah in ''FanFic/TheBridge'', once they are transferred to Equestria. Xenilla isn't exactly small, being a hair taller than Princess Luna and fairly well built. But put him next to the gargantuan Destroyah, who is a full head taller than Princess Celestia and a good deal bulkier; anyone would look small.
* A number of ''Franchise/{{Bionicle}}'' fans were hoping that Kiina and Berix would become a couple. Jossed by [[WordOfGod Greg Farshtey]], since they're from [[InterspeciesRomance different species]].
* Since Princess Celestia and Princess Luna from FriendshipIsMagic are Alicorns which are much taller than the average pony, humanized works involving them will invoke this trope. (Especially when flirting with their gruff, but shorter guards)
* C'ren Bieber of the ''WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarePants'' fanfic ''Fanfic/OneLessLonelyGurl'' is 5'10, while Music/JustinBieber is 5'7. Also, her alleged second love interest is implied to be Plankton, who is short both in canon and the fic.
* [[http://nullpony-exception.deviantart.com/art/I-think-I-m-ok-with-this-327964057?q=gallery%3Aplumpponies%2F30830361&qo=2 This]] DeviantArt drawing.
* [[http://www.fimfiction.net/story/7350/1/mothers/mothers Mothers]] and ''Fanfic/WakingNightmares'', both by the same author [=KnightMysterio=] mentions that Fluttershy's mother Barricade is a massive but loving brute, while her father TL Care is meek and quiet.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Film - Animated]]
* The couple in [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=4PTjT4U7Fsk&feature=endscreen Dodudindon]]. The woman is a BigBeautifulWoman and the man is small, short and scrawny in comparison to her (and he wants her oh, so badly).
* In ''WesternAnimation/MonstersVsAliens'', Susan was still engaged to a normal man when she grew to (almost!) 50 feet tall.
* From ''WesternAnimation/MonstersInc'', Mike Wazowski and his girfriend Celia Mae. She's roughly the height of a human adult, whereas he's basically a basketball-sized eyeball on legs.
* Donkey and the Dragon from ''WesternAnimation/{{Shrek}}''.
** Also Farquaad and Fiona, for the brief time that they're together.
* ''Disney/OliverAndCompany'' has Tito the chihuahua and Georgette the poodle, though it's mostly an unrequited crush from Tito to Georgette until the end. [[spoiler:At which point Tito wants to get away from Georgette.]]
* Hyacinth Hippo and Ben Ali Gator on the "Dance of the Hours" segment of ''Disney/{{Fantasia}}''.
* Ted and Audrey from ''WesternAnimation/TheLorax.''
* In ''WesternAnimation/AGoofyMovie'', a couple like this show up in the "On the Open Road" musical number, with the husband even having a high-pitched voice and the wife having a low-pitched voice.
* [[MasculineGirlFeminineBoy Fix-It Felix Jr. and Sgt. Tamora Jean Calhoun]] of ''Disney/WreckItRalph'' take it to an extreme. The top of his head reaches to perhaps her hip, if that. (To make it even more visually hilarious, they don't even belong to the same aesthetic. He's a cartoony, Mario-like character, and she's a more realistically-proportioned ([[ImpossibleHourglassFigure for a given value of "realistic"]]) FPS character.)
* ''WesternAnimation/MonsterHouse'': Mr. Nebbercracker and Constance the Giantess.
* The Disney ''Disney/AliceInWonderland'' has the King and Queen of Hearts. The Queen of Hearts is a huge, overbearing figure. The King of Hearts is miniscule in comparison. It is lampshaded in the introductions:
--> '''White Rabbit:''' Her imperial highness, he... her grace, her excellency, her royal majesty, the Queen of Hearts!
--> '''Crowd:''' ''(wild cheers)''
--> '''The King:''' ''(clears his throat expectantly)''
--> '''White Rabbit:''' [[MyFriendsAndZoidberg And the King.]]
--> '''Random voice:''' Hooray!
* A double-feature from Planes: Dusty Crophopper, the protagonist, is significantly smaller than his love interest Ishani, but their size difference is nothing compared to that between Rochelle and El Chupacabra.
* In ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory2'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/ToyStory3 3]]'' Buzz is noticeably shorter then Jessie. It helps that they're both toys from different times and companies.
* Both sets of parents in ''WesternAnimation/CorpseBride'' in different ways. William and Nell Van Dort are the roughly the same height but William is skinny whereas Nell is wide enough to have trouble to fit through the carriage. Finis and Maudeline Everglot appear to be the same height when we first see them but then it is revealed Finis was standing on a stepladder and was only about half as tall as his wife.
* In the opening sequence of ''WesternAnimation/TheTripletsOfBelleville'', the audience consists ''entirely'' of tiny men and their enormous wives.
* Xibalba and La Muerte in ''WesternAnimation/TheBookOfLife''. Downplayed, both are Gods, which makes them incredibly tall, and La Muerte is just a few inches taller than Xibalba. [[spoiler:Played more straight with their human forms in the framing story.]]
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Film - Live Action]]
* [[Film/WhoFramedRogerRabbit Roger and Jessica Rabbit]]. He doesn't reach her ''waist''.
** Also, Dolores and Eddie Valiant. Far from as drastic and so much less noticable, but still she has several inches on him.
* Being the titular [[Film/AttackOfThe50FootWoman 50-foot woman]], Nancy Archer towers over her husband, Harry.
* ''Film/JulieAndJulia'': Julia Child (MerylStreep) and her sister ([[Series/{{Glee}} Jane Lynch]]) are both about 6'2" (in TheFifties, where the average ''man'' ls around 5'8") and both fall for guys who are a head shorter, despite Julia's attempt at setting her sister up with a guy who's taller ("What's he like?" "He's... [[DamningWithFaintPraise tall]]"). Based on RealLife.
* ''Film/{{Avatar}}''. Its only actually seen once but Jake is considerably shorter than his 9 foot tall eventual spouse Neytiri, though in all but one scene, he interacts with her through his equally tall Avatar which he eventually permanently uploads into.
* Jason Melon and his squeeze Valerie from ''Film/BackToSchool''. She's about three inches taller than average and he's about three inches shorter than average; he practically needed to stand on his toes to kiss her.
* Lux (the barbarian) and Nim (the halfling) in ''Film/DungeonsAndDragonsWrathOfTheDragonGod''. They're not exactly an item, per se, but they do get several instances of [[ShipTease Ship Teasing]].
* ''Film/EllaEnchanted'' has Slannen the elf falling in love with Brumhilda the giantess.
* Seymour and Audrey, from ''Film/LittleShopOfHorrors''.
* Referenced in ''Film/OceansEleven'', in which Saul objects to Tess being Benedict's girlfriend on the grounds that she's too tall for him. Presumably Saul finds this trope disagreeable.
* Long Duk Dong and Marlene in ''Film/SixteenCandles''.
* Kurd and Big Girl in ''Film/TakeTheLead''.
%%* ''Film/{{Norbit}}''.
* Mr. and Mrs. Turnblad in ''Film/{{Hairspray}}''. Admittedly, the mother is played by a man in drag, but it's played straight in both movies and the theatre adaptation.
** Penny is noticeably taller than Seaweed in the 2007 film.
* The short gaunt Kyle and amazonian BBW Rhonda in ''Film/RoadTrip''.
* Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood in ''Film/{{Matilda}}''.
* ''Film/TheHungerGames'' has Katniss Everdeen, played by 5'9" Creator/JenniferLawrence and Peeta Mellark, played by 5'7"(and not exactly broadly built) JoshHutcherson. It almost looks like she could bench-press him.
* In ''Film/TheHobbitTheDesolationOfSmaug'', Kili finds the captain of Thranduil's guard, Tauriel, to be quite attractive. She does not appear to mind the attention.
* Relatively speaking in ''Film/{{Godzilla 2014}}''. The male MUTO is perhaps 25% the size of the female it mates with. A case of ShownTheirWork, given that many arthopods, arachnids and insects display [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_dimorphism#Species_with_larger_females_than_males sexual dimorphism in favor of the female]] (read: the female of the species is normally larger than the male.)
* Dylan and Lily in ''Film/{{WeBoughtaZoo}}''.
* In ''Film/NapoleonDynamite'', Kip falls in love with a girl named Lafawnduh, who is one...maybe two heads taller than him.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* [[Literature/HarryPotter Hagrid's]] parents are a normal-sized wizard and a giant woman. How, you ask? [[IncrediblyLamePun A Wizard Did It!]]
* [[LoisMcMasterBujold Miles Vorkosigan]] and... okay, the only adult woman in his life that was not at least OneHeadTaller than his own four-foot-ten-on-a-good-day (147cm) height was [[TheVamp more interested in his foster brother than him]]. The two most notable examples are his first crush Elena Bothari (around 5'10" (178cm)) and the experimental SuperSoldier he rescued and named Taura (around 8' (2.4m)). Speaking of Taura, in the short story ''[[Literature/VorkosiganSaga Winterfair Gifts]]'' a member of House Vorkosigan's personal guard (Armsman Roic, a rather tall and powerfully built fellow by ordinary standards) has an epiphany after coming face to bustline with her and nearly dislocating his arm helping with her luggage when she arrived to attend Miles' wedding.
---> This must be what it's like for M'lord... ''all the time''.
** Cavilo might also count, but she was more of an EnemyMine than a love interest. She tried a few times to use her FemmeFatale wiles on him, but he was too wary (rightfully so) to be truly interested. In their parting exchange, Cavilo remarks that Miles was one of the only men she'd ever met who didn't immediately underestimate her due to her height/gender/beauty.
* ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'s'' rather skinny Vimes and his not quite obese but extremely well-built wife Lady Sybil.
** Also, in ''Thud!'', pipsqueak Nobby Nobbs dates six-foot stripper Tawneee.
** Casanunda, TheCasanova dwarf who dates human women, has "[[GettingCrapPastTheRadar Stepladders Repaired]]" as one of the claims on MyCard.
** In the ''Literature/{{Discworld}}'', we meet greengrocer Arthur Winkling and his wife, a man suffering from late-onset vampirism who is a HenpeckedHusband to his domineering human wife, who expressly forbids him from doing all that business with flighty young women in underwired nightdresses who are no better than they should be. A subversion and a ShoutOut to Gomez and Morticia Addams.
** In ''Guards Guards'' the hero of the climax ends up with a lady considerably larger than him. [[spoiler:The swamp dragon Error, think lap cat size, ends up wooing the huge Noble Dragon who was terrorizing the city.]]
* From ''Literature/HonorHarrington'':
** Honor is 6'2" (188cm) and Paul Tankersley was about 5'6" (168cm), but powerfully built. He spent a lot of time teasing her and giving her sexually laden grief about it before he had a bridge dropped on him. Later she got a more equal match, as [[spoiler:Hamish Alexander]] is about the same height.
** Anton Zilwicki and Cathy Montaigne just keeps the proportion. He is about 5'6" (168cm) tall and just as broad, she's about 6' (183m) tall and ''extremely'' lanky.
** Victor Cachat is described as average in size, slim and wiry. His girlfriend is the product of generations of selective breeding for size and strength and described as an 'ogress' by people first meeting her.
* The ''Garrett, P.I.'' novels' Amazonian Winger and "the Remora", her shrimp of a boyfriend/biographer.
* Mr. and Mrs. Wormwood of ''Literature/{{Matilda}}'': Mr. Wormwood is illustrated as very thin while Mrs. Wormwood is at least twice his size (but the same height).
* ''ASongOfIceAndFire'': Jaime's aunt Genna, who is huge in every way, and her husband Emmon Frey, a little wisp of a man.
** [[BrawnHilda Brienne]] is in love with Renly, and is taller than most men (though equal in height to Jaime, with whom she has plenty of [[ShipTease Ship Teasing]]. She suffers a lot of NoGuyWantsAnAmazon within the books, though her main problem with Renly was their IncompatibleOrientation.
*** She's actually taller than both of them. Jaime's about 6' 2" and Renly about 6' 3", while Brienne is 6' 5". (Martin's precise words when asked how tall she is are "Obviously much shorter than the Mountain and significantly shorter than Hodor or Sandor, but taller than Jaime, Stannis, and Renly. Maybe a little shorter than Robert but much thinner, even when he was young.)
** Since Tyrion Lannister is a dwarf (of the real life variety, not the fantasy race), this trope applies to him and his love interests all the time. Not PlayedForLaughs when Tyrion is forced to marry Sansa Stark for political reasons, and she refuses to bow down to allow him to remove her cloak at the marriage ceremony; Tyrion has to be picked up so he can reach her, to the derision of the witnesses.
*** Especially in the show, as Book Sansa is a fairly normal sized twelve year old while Show Sansa is 5' 10". Of course, Show Tyrion is taller than Book Tyrion, but not enough to make up the difference.
* The children's book ''Tiny and Mister Bigman'', Tiny is the definition of AmazonianBeauty, 6'5" strong as an ox Jamaican woman with a voice like a hurricane that [[NoGuyWantsAnAmazon unintentionally frightens all the men on the island]] and Mister Bigman is a 5'4" scrawny almost deaf white man on vacation from somewhere. They fall in love almost the moment they meet.
* In John Crowley's ''Little, Big'', Smoky Barnable, height unspecified but described as short, marries Daily Alice Drinkwater (over 6 feet). Toward the end of the story, though, the size disparity becomes ... much larger.
* In ''Literature/SewerGasAndElectric'', Harry Gant's mother is a tall, husky construction forewoman, while his father is a short, rather frail history buff.
* Sera Vorder and Francis Love Skelbrooke from ''Goblin Moon'' and ''The Gnome's Engine''. She's so tall and sturdy that she's embarassed about it, he's petite [[spoiler: due to faerie blood]] and (deceptively) delicate-looking.
* The MythAdventures books imply that Aahz and Tananda had a fling in the past. Tananda is tall enough to have subjected Skeeve to MarshmallowHell in the graphic novel of ''Another Fine Myth'', and Aahz is shorter than Skeeve.
* In the ''Series/DoctorWho'' Literature/EighthDoctorAdventures book ''Vanishing Point'', Fitz's GirlOfTheWeek is at least 6'6" (and extremely {{Moe}} -- she has an odd, asymmetrical face and badly mismatched legs that give her a limp, and is [[TheIngenue extremely sheltered]] thanks to a benevolent variant of MadwomanInTheAttic). It's never quite clear how tall ''he'' is, and he sometimes seems to feel he's {{egregious}}ly tall, but in this book he's implied to be shorter than the 5'8" Doctor. They're both skinny, though.
* Physically, Henry and Eva {{Wilt}} also fit the Tiny Guy Huge Girl trope: in line with author TomSharpe's female leads, Eva is an EarthMother, a very much larger-than-life woman who does everything to excess, including motherhood - she is mother to quad girls, also to Henry's discomfort. And they all take after Mum...
* ''Literature/AnonymousRex'' - Vincent, a velociraptor, is naturally much smaller than his friend and colleague, Glenda, a hadrosaur. At one point, Vincent steps onto Glenda's shoulders to reach a high drainpipe, noting that he felt "like a young son sitting on his mother's shoulders to watch a parade."
* [[spoiler:Kring and Mirtai, when she finally accepts his advances]], in ''Literature/TheElenium''. Mirtai is described as a giantess. So are all the Atans, due to selective breeding because they discovered that bigger people win more fights.
* In ''Literature/RallyRoundTheFlagBoys'', Laura Beauchamp is taller and far more energetic than her husband Willard.
* In ''Literature/BrimstoneAngels'', [[TheHeart Brin]] is visibly shorter than [[spoiler: his girlfriend]] [[CuteBruiser Havilar]]... even when you don't take her [[HornedHumanoid horns]] into account. WordOfGod notes that they genderflip a lot of other stereotypes; Brin is a NonActionGuy and Havi's a highly skilled fighter, and he's a ShelteredAristocrat incognito while she's a sharp-tongued commoner.
* In MotherGoose nursery rhymes, there's Jack Sprat and his wife[[note]]Jack Sprat could eat no fat/His wife could eat no lean...[[/note]]. Jack is usually depicted as small and very thin, while his wife is not only OneHeadTaller but three or four times ''wider'' than him.
* In the ''Literature/ProtectorOfTheSmall'' quartet, Keladry's father is about five foot four, while her mother is a good several inches taller. Kel inherited her mother's height, but [[MaybeEverAfter it looks like]] she doesn't hook up with any guy that's shorter than her.
* Two thirds of ''{{Literature/Dinoverse}}'' has a girl in the body of a big, vaguely TyrannosaurusRex-ish dinosaur and the boy interested in her in something smaller. [[{{Tomboy}} Patience]] becomes a thirty-foot Acrocanthosaurus while Will is a ten-foot Deinonychus; Claire becomes a forty-foot Carcharodontosaurus while [[SurferDude Aaron]] is a twenty-foot and more lightly built Dilophosaur.
* Creator/StephenKing's story "The Wedding Gig" features a 300-pound woman marrying a 90-pound man.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live Action TV]]
* ''[[Series/{{Survivor}} Survivor: Gabon]]'': Ken is the shortest, skinniest guy on the show, while his chief ally, Crystal, stands 6'3" (191cm) tall.
* ''Series/{{NCIS}}'': When Abby dates a fellow scientist who is a little person. Abby being Abby, there's no indication she even notices his height until he dumps her for being too tall (an unfortunate development due to the death of the actor).
* On ''Series/TheAddamsFamily'', Morticia is way taller than Gomez.
* ''Series/That70sShow'' has two couples like this: Eric and Donna (who are also a subversion: they're actually about the same height, but Donna is ''way'' stronger), then Fez and [[HugeSchoolgirl Big Rhonda]]. In a WhatIf episode, Eric's Guardian Angel(played by Wayne Knight) shows Eric what his future would be like if he had never dated Donna. In said future, he actually ends up losing his virginity to Big Rhonda.
* ''Series/{{Firefly}}'': Through the use of camera angles, Wash is portrayed as being a few inches shorter than his wife Zoe. On the DVD commentaries people actually express surpirse at how this comes out, since in real life Alan Tudyk (Wash) is a few inches ''taller'' than Gina Torres (Zoe), and there was never anything blatant like [[ScullyBox standing on a box]] to change the height for the screen.
* C.J. Cregg (played by the ridiculously tall Creator/AllisonJanney) and Danny Concannon (who's just about normal height) on ''Series/TheWestWing''. {{Lampshade|Hanging}}d with C.J. and her TemporaryLoveInterest Agent Simon Donovan (played by [[Series/{{NCIS}} Mark Harmon]]) when C.J. remarks that she really likes how tall Donovan is because "it makes [her] feel more feminine."
* ''Series/WhoseLineIsItAnyway''
** There was one episode with Wayne Brady [[note]]the shortest of the players but highly agile[[/note]] singing to... [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCIak-w0DOc a female bodybuilder.]] They're actually about the same height, and she IS wearing heels but... she's a BODYBUILDER.
** In another episode, during a playing of Greatest Hits about ''Series/XenaWarriorPrincess'', Wayne and Chip Esten have to sing a song called "Huge Women, Puny Men."
* In ''Series/TrustUsWithYourLife'', Wayne gets paired with Serena Williams. [[MythologyGag The guy can't catch a break...]]
* Played straight on ''Series/HannahMontana'', when Miley ends up on a date with Oliver's friend Connor, who is noticeably shorter.
* For a short time there on ''Series/TheWonderYears'', thanks to the vagaries of puberty, Winnie was significantly taller than Kevin.
* Charlie and Amita in ''Series/{{Numb3rs}}''.
* In ''Series/LALaw'' Stuart Markowitz and Ann Kelsey became a couple and eventually got married. Stuart was short and chubby, while she was much taller. This could also be added to real life examples since the actors were married in real life.
* ''Series/GetSmart'' tried to avert this: In close-up shots, Barbara Feldon always had to scrunch down to avoid towering over Don Adams. It couldn't be avoided in wide shots.
* [[TheMuppetShow Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy]] exaggerate the trope by playing on her temper (made scarier by her size) and his meekness (made funnier by his size). Piggy's actually karate-chopped Kermit on occasion, thus bringing up [[AbuseIsOkayWhenItsFemaleOnMale another trope]].
* Davy and the beautiful, tall laundromat owner in ''TheMonkees'' episode "Monkees Get Out More Dirt".
* In ''Series/WorkingClass'', Carli (played by Melissa Peterman, 5'10") gets an internet date (played by David Faustino, 5'3") to go to her boss's housewarming party with her. Numerous height jokes ensue. And then it turns out his ex-wife (played by Senta Moses, 4'11") was invited to the same party.
* Gaius Baltar and Six in the re-imagined ''Series/{{Battlestar Galactica|Reimagined}}'' - Tricia Helfer is several inches taller than James Callis, and it doesn't hurt that she often wears heels.
* ''Series/LastOfTheSummerWine'': Wally and Nora Batty. Wally is short and very skinny and Nora is a couple inches taller, but substantially broader and deeper. Not to mention [[ApronMatron considerably more forceful]].
* On a 2007 episode of ''LawAndOrder: Criminal Intent'', a murder case featured as potential suspects NoCelebritiesWereHarmed versions of Anna Nicole Smith and Howard K. Stern: a washed-up stripper named Lorelei Mailer [[BigBeautifulWoman (obviously meant to represent Smith during her "fat" years)]], and her common-law husband, who's a little shrimp.
* An episode of ''Series/HappyDays'' had Richie going to a Halloween party with a girl who was several inches taller than he was.
* On {{Seinfeld}}, George has said he'd love to date a "giantess".
* Chummy and Peter on ''Series/CallTheMidwife''.

[[folder:Music]]
* Ragtime-era songs like "Can You Tame Wild Wimmen" (Sterling/Von Tilzer, 1918) tend to feature little guys terrified of their huge girlfriends/wives who, in classic slapstick tradition, usually use rolling pins as weapons.
* The 1930s song "Everyone Has Sex Appeal for Someone" by Ronald Frankau contains the lines: "There's the little chap who married someone statuesque and grand / He's worn himself to ribbons, at least I understand / Through climbing up to kiss her and sliding back to land / so she must have had some sex appeal for him."
* In the animation in the video for "Fritz, Fritz, Love My Tits".
* The 1958 Bill Haley & His Comets classic "Skinny Minnie" is from the point of view of a shorter man dating a gal who is "6 ft. high and 1 ft. thick."
* Joan Armatrading's "I Love It When You Call Me Names" is about a "big woman and a short, short man."

[[folder:Pinball]]
* Boris and Natasha from ''Pinball/TheAdventuresOfRockyAndBullwinkleAndFriends'', appropriately enough.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Professional Wrestling]]
* Somewhat with former Intergendered Tagteam/Power Couple Glamarella. Although not taller, Wrestling/BethPhoenix is clearly [[AmazonianBeauty more muscular]] (and more dangerous) than her partner/boyfriend [[PluckyComicRelief Santino Marella.]] The irony goes on as Beth's real live husband at the time All Knighters' Joey Knight is ALSO less muscular than she is.
** Nowadays, Beth is with Edge (they have a child together) who, like the others, is very fit but doesn't have the biceps she does.
* During the early years of D-Generation X, {{Chyna}} was not as tall as faction leader ShawnMichaels, but, relative to size, she looked a lot more muscular than the lightly muscled Michaels. Just to drive the point home, she was also his bodyguard.
* Puny manager Harvey Wippleman and his huge "girlfriend", Bertha Faye, from the WWF in the mid-90's.
* In Wrestling/{{TNA}}, 8-time X-division (read: small) champion Chris Sabin with the huge [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Alpha Female]].

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros:''
** Peach is visibly (at least) a head taller than Mario, even with a Super Mushroom, mostly because Mario is shorter than average. Perhaps one of the most famous examples in all media aside from Boris and Natasha. But this is a somewhat played-with trope in this case since in overall size, Mario is much bigger due to his stocky build and strong enough to throw heavy objects and enemies with ease, while Peach is slim, dainty, and feminine. Not to mention the ''MarioKart'' series classifies Peach as a lightweight, while Mario is classified as a mediumweight. However, it's still this trope at the core since anytime they're together, she puts her arm around him and when they kiss, she bends down to kiss her heroic plumber.
** Sometimes with his brother Luigi, he alternates between being her size or shorter.
** Sometimes they like to [[http://gtsmoonworld.ta-host.com/where/embeds/super_mario_issunboshi.htm exaggerate their size difference]].
** Princess Daisy is more or less the same height as Peach. Rosalina on the other hand, is much taller (she is approximately the same height as Waluigi). Even more so with Rosalina, who was seen as a giant at the end of both ''Galaxy'' games, and the ''MarioKart'' series games classes her as a heavyweight despite her slender PrincessClassic type delicate build.
* In ''Metal Combat'' (the sequel to ''BattleClash''), the alien Zephyr has a huge and hideous wife named Pamela who is a good deal taller and wider then him. Even her mech is huge!
* [[TheNapoleon Shoma]] and [[HugeSchoolgirl Natsu]] from ''VideoGame/RivalSchools'', though both have trouble [[CanNotSpitItOut expressing those feelings]] and spend their time [[TheMasochismTango arguing with each other]] [[SlapSlapKiss instead]].
* Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog and [[DamselInDistress Princess Elise]] from ''[[VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006 Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)]]'', though any semblance of a romantic relationship [[{{Starboarding}} is primarily one-sided on Elise's part]].
* ''Franchise/FireEmblem'':
** ''[[FireEmblemElibe The Blazing Sword]]'': [[spoiler:Ninian]] and either [[spoiler:Hawkeye]] (platonic) or [[spoiler:Eliwood]] (romantic), as she's a ''[[OurDragonsAreDifferent literal dragon]]'' (okay, [[HalfHumanHybrid half-dragon]]). It only happens once, however, and involuntarily at that.
*** Also, [[spoiler: Ninian (and Nils)'s parents. The mom was Aenir, a dragon woman; the dad was... Nergal, then a normal human shaman, and later the ArchnemesisDad.]]
** ''[[FireEmblemElibe The Sword of Seals]]'': Fa and almost any male, but specially Elphin and Roy. Again, when she's in Dragon form.
** ''[[VideoGame/FireEmblemTheSacredStones The Sacred Stones]]'': Myrrh and either Saleh or Ephraim when she's in her real Dragon form. If she's not, she's the TokenMiniMoe instead.
** ''FireEmblemAwakening'': the ChildMage Ricken, who is noted to be shorter than the standard [[TheNapoleon and not very happy about it]], and several of his possible brides... including a [[PlayerCharacter Female Avatar]] with either "late teens" or "young adult woman" builds. The trick might also work if you pair up CountryMouse Donnel with taller women, again including a tall Female Avatar.\\
\\
You can also customize a [[PlayerCharacter male Avatar]] to look as if he's around Ricken's height (via the "early teens" build), then pair him up with a taller lady like Panne, Miriel, Cordelia or [[spoiler: a HeelFaceTurn-ned Aversa]]. \\
\\
Might happen in the [[spoiler: Second Generation group]] if Kjelle, the tallest of the girls ''and'' a GlacierWaif, is paired up with Morgan, the smallest of the boys.
* ''VideoGame/{{Warcraft}}'':
** Handsome stag/centaur Zaetar had relations with the four armed, three faced, giant stoney monster that is Princess Theradras. This also counts as an inversion of UglyGuyHotWife.
** Alexstrasza and Korialstrasz/Krasus. Although they're pretty close in height in humanoid form (him being about a head taller), in dragon form she's at least twice his size.
** The Wobblesprockets: Marvin, a gnome, and Tamara, a human.
* Taupy from ''VideoGame/SandsOfDestruction'' is a midget bearfolk who looks like an adorable pirate teddy bear. His wife Muffy also looks like a teddy bear, but is nearly two stories tall and gets summoned to ''[[FastballSpecial throw]]'' her husband at the enemy for his LimitBreak.
* The entire Zuul species from ''VideoGame/SwordOfTheStars''. The top end of average height for male Zuul is 25 cm shorter than the bottom end of average height for female Zuul, and the difference in weight is even greater (45-70 vs. 175 kilos).
** Also, the Morrigi, as the males are small eastern dragon creatures with psychic glamour and the ladies are huge western dragons with the ability to terrorize foes with their version of psychic powers.
* In ''VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins'', romancing Leliana or Morrigan with a dwarf. Though in the romance scenes, the dwarf [[ScullyBox is taller]].
** Dragons in this setting also follow this. Male dragons are wingless and grow to be about the size of a large drafthorse. Females will eventually become massive High Dragons.
** A female PC romancing Zevran also accounts, seeing as elves are shorter than humans. Even in the sequel, where elves are generally taller, Fenris seems smaller than a female Hawke (and Isabela, his potential sex-buddy), perhaps because he's both skinny and slouches a lot.
* An odd example between [[JakAndDaxter Daxter and Tess]], considering that Daxter's not human. Although he [[BalefulPolymorph used to be]]. [[spoiler:[[JerkassGenie Creative wish-granting]] on behalf of some [[SufficientlyAdvancedAliens Sufficiently Advanced]] {{Precursors}} evened things out, though.]]
* Torahime and Kisuke from ''[[VideoGame/MuramasaTheDemonBlade Muramasa]]'', though this might just be because of the art style, since human enemies can be absolutely enormous for no reason. Kisuke is tiny no matter what, though. [[BrawnHilda Raijin]] and Fujin even moreso.
* The LoveInterest of ''VideoGame/{{Alundra 2}}'', Princess Alexei is 2 times the height of the main character, Flint. Shes standing on a lower elevation in the kiss scene at the games end.
* Nehema and Zee Tee in the good ending of ''VideoGame/{{Eversion}}''.
* [[VideoGame/RatchetAndClank Ratchet]] is shorter than each of his [[GirlOfTheWeek Girls of the Week]] (by variable amounts: maybe an inch or two shorter than Sasha, [[OneHeadTaller One Head Shorter]] than Talwyn, and ''at least'' a foot shorter than Angela) -- This has less to do with InterspeciesRomance than it does with Ratchet being just plain short (Angela is the same species as Ratchet, though whether this just means Ratchet is short for his kind, or that female Lombaxes are naturally bigger than males is unknown, given Angela is the only one that's actually been seen in the series). Additionally Dr. Nefarious [[UnholyMatrimony gets into a fling with the utterly massive Cassiopeia.]]
* While most of the Princesses in ''VideoGame/LittleKingsStory'' are taller then Corobo, two take it to ridiculous extrtemes. The Busty Princess Ferne is as tall as 4 Corobos. The obese Princess Spumoni is simply just far, far wider and taller then the poor little King.
* The protagonist of ''VideoGame/MenaceBeach'' and his girlfriend.
* Ayla and Kino in ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger''. Ayla is over six feet tall, ridiculously strong to the point of outperforming even advanced robots, and towers over basically everybody except Robo (who is a lot taller and larger than he looks in-game in official art). Kino is about the same height as Marle (second shortest character after Frog), not to mention a complete wimp.
* The [[OurElvesAreBetter wood elves]] in ''Franchise/TheElderScrolls''.
** Seeing as ''[[VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim Skyrim]]'' introduced romance options, you can now have this, mostly if you player as a taller race (especially a female High Elf) and marry someone from a smaller race (such as a Breton).
* The Harvest Goddess in ''HarvestMoon'' animal parade [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ESevObTPbU towers over the protagonist]]. In Harvest Moon Island of Happiness, the extremly short chef Pierre is able to [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qiv8ca03s4A be married by female players]].
* From ''ArTonelicoQoga: Knell of Ar Ciel'', there's the diminutive scientist Katene and [[spoiler:Mute]], who towers over him in terms of both height and muscularity... well, [[VoluntaryShapeshifting most of the time]], anyway. They're embarassingly and hillariously lovey-dovey together.
* Nythera's parents in ''VideoGame/DragonFable''. Her father is a human wizard and her mother is a ''dragon''.
* Flonne at 5'2" from the ''Franchise/{{Disgaea}}'' series towers above the 4'3" Laharl, according to the supplementary artbook; Etna is also about five inches taller than him. This doesn't really come across in the game proper very well, because almost all the cutscene portraits and character sprites are the same size. [[http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/956928/absurdres-angel-blonde_hair-blue_hair-demon-disgae Some official art]] does show this though.
* ''VideoGame/{{Fable}}''. In the [[VideoGame/FableII second game]] investing in Strength will give you muscles, while investing in Skill gives you height, meaning than a female character can potentially end up much taller and more burly than a husband. There is also a far bit of fan art with [[BrawnHilda Hammer]] and [[SquishyWizard Garth]] that strongly features this trope. In the third game, the Princess is taller than almost everyone else from the outset, possibly because of her Heroic bloodlines).
* ''VideoGame/DragonsDogma''. Due to the the game's main feature of Pawns (you create a main Pawn to be your constant battle partner/follower) you can create a tall/muscular/plump woman as your main character, and then make a short/skinny man as your main Pawn (or vice versa).
* In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess'', [[spoiler:Midna's true form]] is quite the StatuesqueStunner. Combine this with the fact that Link is not exactly tall, and you get this.
* ''RuneScape'' quest "Gunnar's Ground" has you assisting a dwarf poet in wooing a barbarian princess.
* Thanks to the almost infinite customization of its avatars, it's not uncommon to see wide disparity in height between male and female "partners" in the online world SecondLife.
* Though the height difference is not as pronounced as other examples on this page, Omid from ''VideoGame/TheWalkingDead'' is noticably shorter than his girlfriend Christa.
* ''VideoGame/ConkersBadFurDay''. Conker seems to have a thing for taller women, given that he stands maybe up to his girlfriend Berri's kneecaps. But it truly becomes Huge Girl Tiny Guy when he meets Jugga, an enormous cavewoman. However, it doesn't work out between them.
* The protagonist of NES game ''VideoGame/MenaceBeach'' is considerably smaller than his girlfriend.
* ''VideoGame/EuropaUniversalis: TheMusical'', were it not an AprilFoolsJoke, would have involved a romance between a male Ulm and a female France.
* ''VisualNovel/HatofulBoyfriend'', due to the InterspeciesRomance. One event near the end of Shuu's route suggests a size increase in the sapient birds, but it's still made clear that the human girl is much larger than her love interests.
* Promo material for ''Videogame/SuperSmashBros'' has repeatedly emphasized [[Videogame/PunchOut Little Mac]]'s lack of height (he's 5'7) by standing him next to the 6'3 [[{{Videogame/Metroid}} Samus Aran]]. Any romance is strictly in the eyes of fans, though.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Web Comics]]
* In the {{DrowTales}} universe, Drow are this by their very nature, as female Drow are both taller and physically stronger then the males of their race in general.
* ''Webcomic/DanAndMabsFurryAdventures'': Jyrras' parents: His father (a kangaroo rat) is about a third the size of his mother (a kangaroo). They met after the agency they had placed personals with [[http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_328.php got the species mixed up.]]
* ''Webcomic/{{Sinfest}}''
** Crimeny and Fuschia. He's barely up to her waist.
** Slick and 'Nique, too. Actually, [[ManChild most of the male characters]] would end up fitting this trope if they had love interests...
* ''Webcomic/HaruSari'': June is quite tall, while Chi-Min is short due to being an elf, which means he is permanently stuck in a prepubescent body.
* Chris Morrison's ''[[http://www.polymer-city.com/ Polymer City Chronicles]]''. Dr. Otto Bonn, [=PhD=] is a scrawny man at 5 feet, 8 inches and 135lbs. ** Also, we have [[http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=861 Lindsey]] and [[http://www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=908 Bud]].
* ''WapsiSquare'' has [[http://wapsisquare.com/comic/05262003/ Owen and Lakshmi.]]
* The eponymous character Of ''TheChallengesOfZona'' makes her reasonably normal-sized boyfriend Mentl look like a freaky little midget by comparison.
* ''RubysWorld'' has Jiro ( 6'2" ) and Ruby ( 9'1" ), providing a unique case of "Huge Guy, Huge-er Girl"
* In ''Webcomic/TheOrderOfTheStick'', 3'2" halfling Belkar has sex with normal-sized human Jenny, and neither seems at all bothered by the size difference.
* The hyenas in ''Webcomic/{{Digger}}'' are all like this; hyena females are bigger and more aggressive than the males, like their RealLife counterparts. Most noticeable during Ed's backstory.
* In ''Law of Purple'' you have Memphis, who is a notably short human man, paired up with Sabre, the much taller than him Caligulan elf chick.
* [[ALoonaticsTale Jeff Nobelium]] and his wife. WordOfGod is that Mrs. Nobelium is about three Terbiums...and Terbium himself is worth around two or three Jeffs.
* ''SweetBroAndHellaJeff'': The beautiful wonan whom they both once dated at Subway is double their height and doesn't even completely fit into the panel size ([[StylisticSuck intentionally of course]]).
* ''{{Homestuck}}'' has two such couples: [[DatingCatwoman Spades Slick/Snowman]] and WV/PM, whose height difference only gets larger after [[spoiler:PM [[ChessMotif becomes a queen]].]]
* In webcomic ''Webcomic/TheMeek'', Luca is [[TheNapoleon a Napoleon]] with StoutStrength, while his wife Phe is fairly tall woman. Guessing from the art, his forehead is about level with her nose.
* Taken to extremes in ''Webcomic/{{Chimneyspeak}}'' where Elgie, who's under three feet, has had relationships, sort of, with the normal-sized Chelsea (when she wasn't trying to kill him) and Alice.
* [[AmazonianBeauty Gogo]] and Andy from ''Webcomic/{{Bomango}}'', especially since Andy is younger than her.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy. Lee Kanker (tallest female character) has a massive crush on Eddy (shortest male character next to Jimmy and Plank). This relationship is one-sided, by the way.
* Whenever Brian from ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'' dates a woman, expect this trope to happens. Justified due to Brian being a dog.
* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'': In the original series period, Aang is shorter than Katara. However, Katara is 2 years older than he is ([[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld kinda]] [[HumanPopsicle sorta]]). However, by the time they're both adults in ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'', Aang is much taller than Katara. Even just [[ComicBook/AvatarTheLastAirbenderThePromise a year after]] the first series he's already as tall as her.
** SequelSeries ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'' has [[UnholyMatrimony P'Li and Zaheer]]. Zaheer is of moderate height and compactly built; P'Li is [[StatuesqueStunner 6'8"]].
* In ''WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck'', the main character is significantly shorter than his girlfriend [[HotWitch Morgana]] [[ClassyCatBurglar Macawber.]]
* On ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'', Trixie is the tallest of the kids, invoking this trope with Timmy or whoever else you want to ship her with.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones''' Betty and Barney Rubble.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'' features the short, dumpy Hermes Conrad, and his statuesque, nearly-Amazonian wife [=LaBarbara=].
* One ''Franchise/{{DCAU}}'' episode featured Franchise/WonderWoman and Steve Trevor, and another had the previously mentioned Scott Free and Big Barda.
* ''WesternAnimation/JackieChanAdventures'' has one episode where Jade becomes really big and it is ''[[TheBigGuy Tohru]]'' who looks small to her.
* Princess Bula and Specky from ''WesternAnimation/{{Reboot}}'', but the contrast is jarring: he's as tall as her leg!
* ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'': Skulker and Ember as Ember is really the huge one; Skulker's real form is a tiny green ghost, but he uses a MonsterSuit, thus they appear to be HugeGuyTinyGirl.
* ''WesternAnimation/BeastMachines'' in the case of Obsidian and Strika, and also Rattrap and Botanica.
** Played disturbingly straight in the Beast Machines toyline where basic-sized figures of Silverbolt can barely reach Blackaracnia's stomach.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Animaniacs}}'':
** We occasionally see Dr. Scratchansniff with his girlfriend, who is much taller and at least three times his weight.
** For a more extreme example, there's WesternAnimation/{{Pinky|AndTheBrain}} and Pharfignewton - he's a mouse, [[InterspeciesRomance she's a horse]].
* Sierra from ''[[WesternAnimation/TotalDramaIsland Total Drama World Tour]]'' is the tallest female contestant and has a FanGirl crush on Cody, the shortest male contestant.
** Also [[SassyBlackWoman LeShawna]], one of the heaviest female contestants, and [[{{Otaku}} Harold]], the thinnest male contestant. He's taller, but the contrast between BigBeautifulWoman and [[NoodlePeople Noodle Person]] is still striking.
** In ''Pahkitew Island,'' [[{{Doomsayer}} Shawn]] and [[AwesomeAussie Jasmine]] are more like Normal Guy, Huge Girl, since she towers over just about everyone.
* ''WesternAnimation/RockyAndBullwinkle'': Boris and Natasha. One of the most famous examples in all media along with Mario and Princess Peach.
* The Scotsman and his wife from ''WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack''. It's not that the Scotsman is tiny - in fact he's big, ugly, and strong - it's just that his wife is bigger, uglier, and far stronger!
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Tutenstein}}'': Tut himself and Cleo Carter. Like Aang and Katara, it's because Cleo is two years older (again, kinda sorta), not to mention Tut is a shriveled mummy.
* Riff Raff and his girlfriend Cleo from ''WesternAnimation/HeathcliffAndTheCatillacCats''.
* [[TheNapoleon Lucius Heinous VII]] and [[GoldDigger Jez]] from ''WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes''.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheAngryBeavers'', the twist of episode 12 is that the legendary [[TheCatfish giant river fish]], Old Gramps, turns out be a shrivelled old fish who is maybe half the size of the beavers. The legends are actually due to his ''wife'', Old Grams, who ''is'' big enough to swallow the beavers' dam whole.
* ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'': Numbuh 3/Kuki Sanban and Numbuh 4/Wally Beatles. While Kuki is actually the youngest Operative in Sector V, Wally is the shortest, being around a head shorter than Kuki.
* Ernie Potts, the diminutive demolitions man from ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'', gets involved with his crush - a tall, full-figured (a.k.a. "Large and Lovely") model named Lola.
** [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Harold]] is about half the height of his possible girlfriend [[HugeSchoolgirl "Big" Patty]].
** One episode has a paper fortunteller predict that [[{{Geek}} Sheena]] and [[BornUnlucky Eugene]] will get married one day. He wouldn't even reach her shoulder if his head wasn't so weirdly shaped!
* Polish animated series ''WesternAnimation/HipHipAndHurra'' loves this trope, in the main protagonists' case anyway. Hip-Hip is a Hippopotamus and his love intrest is "neck taller" Giraffe, while Hura is an weasel but his girlfriend is a three times bigger Kangaroo.
* ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDragonJakeLong'': Jake and Rose.
* Mr. and Mrs. Brinks from ''WesternAnimation/AngelaAnaconda''
* Most of Rocko's LoveInterests and dates from ''WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife'', with the exception of Claudette (also a wallaby). In fact, the most we ever see of Rocko's primary crush Melba is her legs.
* ''WesternAnimation/EekTheCat'': Eek and Annabelle fit this trope to a tee. She's an obese pink southern belle of a cat who's as tall as a human (in fact, her owner is only heard once as TheVoice welcoming her to her new home when she's let out of her cat carrier). In fact, a running gag is others telling him that his girlfriend is fat, but he doesn't see it; to him, she's a beautiful goddess.
* Mac and Molly Mange, the Metallikats in ''WesternAnimation/SWATKats''.
* From ''WesternAnimation/AladdinTheSeries'', Iago and Thundra.
* Leo and Panthera in ''WesternAnimation/ThunderCats2011''. Even by the standards of their species Panthera is a StatuesqueStunner, and towers over her love interest Leo, who (being almost identical to his descendant and main character Lion-O) is relatively short for an adult Cat.
* In ''{{Catdog}}'': [[spoiler:Their adoptive parents are revealed to be [[InterspeciesRomance a male frog and a female yeti]].]]
* In ''[[Disney/OneHundredAndOneDalmatians 101 Dalmatians: The Series]]'', Two-Tone is rumored to be larger than Lucky (who were potential mates in one episode) partially because of her chubby figure as opposed to Lucky who is slim and slender. This later inspired a lot of fan art of Two-Tone giving Lucky shoulder rides and such.
* In ''WesternAnimation/PoundPuppies2010'', Lucky and Cookie are about the same size, but in the earlier episodes, Cookie was a bit larger than Lucky (which seems appropriate seeing that she's a Boxer, which is a notably large breed of dog).
* Even though they're not really love partners, Spike and Twilight Sparkle of ''MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' fit into this trope.
** If you want to look at more of a couple, you could look at Spike and Rarity.
** The comics reveal that Celestia had a relationship with an alternate universe Sombra, who's noticeably shorter than her.
* Wander and Sylvia from ''WanderOverYonder'' are a perfect example of this.
* Itchiano "Itchy" and Gnat in the ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'' episode "Flea for Your Life."
* Miss Spider and Holley in ''WsternAnimation/MissSpidersSunnyPatchFriends''. Miss Spider is twice the size of her husband. [[JustifiedTrope They are spiders, after all]]...
* ''WesternAnimation/BrandyAndMrWhiskers'' are a perfect example!
* ''WesternAnimation/LittlestPetShop2012'': Vinnie and Russell are the two smallest pets in Littlest Pet Shop. All four of the girl pets (Zoe, Pepper, Minka and Penny Ling) are larger than them, with Penny Ling being the biggest of the seven.
** It also kind of helps that some fans like to ship Vinnie and Penny Ling together due to their fairly-close friendship bonds.

* This is, as you might expect, FetishFuel for some people. [[IThoughtItMeant This is not related to]] (but still can cross over with) gigantism related fetishes. Even if the girl's not bigger, many of these guys like it when a girl can kick their butts.
** There's also an interesting variation. Some men and women like to have ONLY the height and things related to height (such as who puts their arm around who) defy stereotypes and gender roles while preserving traditional dimorphism aspects otherwise, such as a 6'0" 260 lb strongman and martial arts type guy with a 6'3" 160 lb woman. It's almost like a DoubleSubversion in a way.
* Sophie Dahl and Jamie Cullum.
* TomCruise and either Creator/NicoleKidman or Katie Holmes. Both are taller than ''he'' is. Of course, being taller than Tom Cruise isn't exactly that impressive, but still.
** Arguably anyone in a relationship with Tom Cruise.
** Nicole appearing on ''LateNight With DavidLetterman'' right after their divorce:
-->''Well I can wear heels now!''
** The 5'11" Kidman now averts this with her current husband, Music/KeithUrban, who is only one inch shorter.
* CountryMusic singer Justin Moore, who is 5'6" and on the skinny side, seems to be a few inches shorter than his wife, Kate.
* Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
* Frequently happens in middle schools, because girls start puberty earlier on average, while most boys haven't.
* Dennis Kucinich is only 5'7'' (practically a midget for a politician), while his wife is 6'. She's also [[MayDecemberRomance 31 years younger]], for good measure.
* The large and [[AdiposeRex fat]] Queen Isabella II of Spain had been married to the small, thin and ugly Prince [[http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4f/Isabella_II_and_Consort.png Francisco de Borbon, Duke of Cadiz]].
* In Europe apparently they don't care as much. Silvio Berlusconi (Prime Minister of Italy), Nicholas Sarkozy (President of France), Dmitry Medvedev (Prime Minister of the Russian Federation) and Vladimir Putin (President of the Russian Federation) are around 5'4"/5'5". For Sarkozy his height is a BerserkButton.
* While the female anglerfish is the one that typifies the species in terms of size and appearance, the male is a shrimp of a fish less than one-tenth of her size that ends up fusing with the female to become a mere sperm-producing appendage.
** TruthInTelevision for most arthropods, reptiles, and birds. However, for mammals, it's reversed, so we're a weird exception to the rule. The reason for this is that the number of eggs a female can produce depends on her own body size; males are usually smaller so they need less food. The rule is reversed, however, in species where males have to physically fight for territory/females/food/etc.
* TimRoth is definitely shorter than his wife (he's 5'7)
* Creator/MartinScorsese (5'3") and ex-wife Isabella Rossellini (5'8")
* Creator/HarlanEllison, a rather short man, was rumoured to "go around with gigantic showgirl types" before meeting and marrying his wife, who was closer to his height.
* Christine Fox, the [[http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=943941 real-life model for Kelly MacGillis' character in ''Film/TopGun'']]. is over 6 feet tall and is married to a much shorter man.
* There are many non-human examples, including most birds of prey, spiders (particularly Black Widows), and many snakes; a female python or viper is usually longer and heavier than a male of the same species.
* Sonny and Music/{{Cher}}
* Limbless Nick Vujicic married his fianc, Kanae Miyahara on February 10th!
* Bernie Ecclestone (5'2") and his former wife Slavica (6'2")
* As noted in the Film section above: Julia Child (6'2") and her husband Paul Child (under 6 feet). Paul was apparently a PintsizedPowerhouse, as he was a black belt in judo and looks extremely buff in old photos.
* Eighteenth-century housebreaker Jack Sheppard (who stood around 5'4'') and his longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Lyon.
* Creator/PeterDinklage is a dwarf. His wife, Erica Schimdt, is...not.
* Kunal Nayyar, who act as Raj from The Big Bang Theory, is married to a former Miss India, Neha Kapur. He's 5'7. She's 5'10.
* Mick Jagger (5'10) and late girlfriend L'Wren Scott (6'4)
* Rod Stewart (5'10) and wife Penny Lancaster (6'1)
* Jeff Gordon (5'7") and wife Ingrid Vandebosch (5'9")
* Black Widows are prone to this trope. The females have a notably-large abdomen, while the less common males are actually smaller than the females.
