Just like blue-haired girls are often introverted, pink-haired girls are often cheery and optimistic or sweet and romantic. There's a high chance that, if a series has a FiveManBand, a girl with pink hair is TheChick. It's also a popular hair color for protagonists of MagicalGirl series.

Bonus points if she has a blue-haired love interest.

This trope doesn't count just for general pink hair. Other shades like magenta or salmon also count, but purple certainly does not. Pink-haired boys can also be examples.

SubTrope of YouGottaHaveBlueHair and PinkMeansFeminine. For animals with pink fur, go see AmazingTechnicolorWildlife.

Sometimes in anime it can overlap with BitchInSheepsClothing. The pink-haired girl being designated as a YamatoNadeshiko may be a DeadUnicornTrope.

Compare HeroesWantRedheads, RedHeadedHero and FieryRedhead.

* Lacus Clyne from Anime/MobileSuitGundamSeed, a peace-loving IdolSinger and daughter to the chairman of [=ZAFT=] that is nicknamed the "Pink Princess". However, she's also a YamatoNadeshiko that intentionally allows people to mistake her gentle nature and idealism for weakness, prior to revealing herself to be a brilliant politician with an iron will and knack for winning people over to her side. By the conclusion of the sequel, she has become the new chairwoman of [=ZAFT=] and one of the few remaining political leaders in the world.
** Sisters Lunamaria and Meyrin Hawke, from Destiny. Both have magenta hair, though Lunamaria is TheChick among the [=ZAFT=] pilots while Meyrin is compassionate and kind.
%%** Feldt Grace from Gundam 00. WordOfGod claims she dyes it.
%%** Sarah Zabiarov of ZetaGundam... Noticing a theme?
%%** Lu Anon from GundamAGE.
* Haman Karn of Zeta and Double Zeta has pink hair, but is only cheerful and optimistic as a young girl in the Char's Deleted Affair manga set after the One Year War.
%%* Rose from Manga/FullmetalAlchemist, though it's actually just her bangs. The rest of her hair is dark brown.
%%* Kotoko-01 from DivergenceEve.
* Manga/ToLoveRu has all 3 (naturally they are sisters). Lala is cheerful and optimistic, Tsundere Nana is the FieryRedHead and Momo is the sweet and romantic one (although her idea of romantic is rather broad).
* Cheza from WolfsRain is the sweet, low-key romantic subtype. For bonus points, the guy who created her has blue hair, not to mention the more tomboyish ActionGirl Blue.
* Manga/MagicalPrincessMinkyMomo is a CuteWitch with pink hair.
%%* Princess Silver from CrayonKingdomOfDreams
%%* The titular character of Anime/ALittleSnowFairySugar.
%%* Mao from Anime/MaoChan.
* Himeno Awayuki in Pretear, the cheerful and optimistic heroine. Also a type B Tsundere to Hayate, the aloof blue haired knight.
* Momoko from Manga/WeddingPeach, one of the most upbeat characters and also the heroine.
* The Franchise/LyricalNanoha series plays this absolutely straight with Caro Ru Lushe, a gentle and kind-hearted WhiteMagicianGirl of the Riot Force 6's Forward team, yet inverts it to hell and back with Signum, a Stoic and no-nonsense swordswoman with an OldSoldier attitude. There is also Sette, the EmotionlessGirl among Dr. Scaglietti's twelve Combat Cyborgs by the virtue/misfortune of having been designed to have the least emotional capacity among the sisters.
* Madoka Kaname from Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica, showcasing her innocent nature.
%%* Subaru from HoukagoNoPleiades.
* Hinagiku Katsura from Manga/HayateTheCombatButler. She fits the cheery subtype and the romantic one, and she has a blue-haired (clueless) love interest.
* Louise from LightNovel/TheFamiliarOfZero. She's closer to a FieryRedhead, but over time she becomes Tsundere less tsun-tsun and more dere-dere to Saito and comes to fit the romantic subtype better.
* Manga/LuckyStar:
** Pink-haired meganekko Miyuki Takara is the nicest and sweetest character in the main cast.
** Akira Kogami, who can act cheery until something angers her, at which point, it doesn't take a whole lot for the fiery aspect of her personality to surface.
%%* Nagisa in RaveMaster.
* Manga/SoulEater: There's also Crona, whose hair was pink in the manga but was changed to lavender in the anime, but s/he's more of a ShrinkingViolet.
* Moka Akashiya's outer self in RosarioToVampire, who is kind, naive and romantic in direct contrast to her cold inner self.
* Princess Euphemia li Britannia and Anya Alstreim from Anime/CodeGeass. Euphy's personality fits with what's expected for this trope, being a WideEyedIdealist in a series known for its BlackAndGrayMorality. Conversely, Anya is an EmotionlessGirl...although she wasn't always like that.
%%* Mao/Mariah from Beyblade.
%%* Miwako from ParadiseKiss, fittingly enough.
%%* Haramura Nodoka from Manga/Saki' '.
%%* Ringo Yukimori from HimeChenOtogiChikkuIdolLilpri. Oddly enough, she is the reincarnation of Snow White, and the most well-known versions of Snow White all have black hair.
%%* The titular PrincessComet has pink hair.
%%* Hikaru from HyperSpeedGranDoll.
%%* Wilhelmina Carmel from ShakuganNoShana.
%%* Noriko Nakajima from HellTeacherNube.
%%* Miharu Sena Kanaka from Manga/GirlsBravo.
* Manga/FairyTail:
** Sherry, a total LoveFreak. Bonus points for her love interest Lyon, who has light-blue hair.
** There's also the docile and kind Stellar Spirits Virgo and Aries.
** Meredy is a cute little girl, but is very much TheStoic. She becomes a full-blown example after the timeskip.
** Chelia, Sherry's cousin, who is also a LoveFreak and very cheerful and friendly.
%%* The titular character of SteelAngelKurumi.
%%* Washu Hakubi from TenchiMuyo, though it varies from light pink to dark pink to red, depending on the official artwork.
%%** A male example would be Seiryo Tennan from Tenchi OAV 2 and TenchiMuyoGXP.
%%* Kanon Nakagawa from Manga/TheWorldGodOnlyKnows.
* Kiko from DarkerThanBlack certainly fits the GenkiGirl stereotype. However, considering that most of the cast have realistic hair colors and she's a CosplayOtakuGirl, it's quite possible she dyed it to fit this trope.
* A rare male example: Shuichi from Gravitation. He fulfils the optimistic side of the trope, doubling as a Keet.
%%* Another male example: Shun from HereIsGreenwood.
* Mizuki Himeji from LightNovel/BakaToTestToShoukanjuu. Pretty, nice and a mishmash of Yandere wacko.
* Manga/YuYuHakusho: Genkai, at least, IWasQuiteALooker in her younger days, is an example of the "fiery" sort. It grayed over time, though. However, in the manga, her hair was strawberry-blonde.
* Manga/HunterXHunter: Machi is a Kunoichi and a member of the murderous thief-band, Genei Ryodan. She's stoic, cold, ruthless, snarky, delivers Death Glares, and she's deadly as any other member. She also happens to be the CombatMedic. However, Machi has only pink hair in the manga and in the 2011 anime version, while in the 1999 version she has purple hair.
* Manga/Bleach: Pink-haired, hyperactive, Yachiru is the cheerful and optimistic version, always smiling, especially when Kenpachi is enjoying his fights.
%%* Anemone from Anime/EurekaSeven.
%%** Elena Peoples from Anime/EurekaSevenAO.
%%* Yuna Miyama from Maburaho.
* Cheerful and energetic - that definitely describes Haruko Haruhara from FLCL.
* From Manga/MahouSenseiNegima, Makie Sasaki and the Narutaki twins have all been depicted with either pink or red hair. The first anime switches them all from pink to red hair about halfway through. They also all fit the "cheery girl" stereotype.
%%* Kuniko Hojo from LightNovel/ShangriLa
* Coby from OnePiece. However, he is a rare male ShrinkingViolet, and in direct contrast to the usual Pink-Haired teenager, he often has a nervous outlook on life - even after taking a small level in Badass.
%%* Viola from Anime/KiddyGrade.
%%* Ascoeur from Anime/KiddyGirlAnd.
* Nono of Diebuster has long pink hair and is optimistic, cheerful, strong, and passionate.
* Cosette, Ropponmatsu II (partially), and Excel's good conscience in Anime/ExcelSaga.
%%* The titular character of PuniPuniPoemi.
* Toa from DragonautTheResonance with CurtainsMatchTheWindow set of pink eyes as well. Akira has hot pink hair.
* Marika from LightNovel/BodaciousSpacePirates has pink hair with the cheery and optimistic personality.
* Inori from GuiltyCrown has pale pink hair. While she's not at all a GenkiGirl, she does share the "pure" personality shown by many other characters on this page; she's one of the most loyal and caring characters in GuiltyCrown . She also becomes more passionate near the end of the show.
* One of the two protagonists of Go! Go! Ichigo is a Transsexual trans girl named Ichigo who has pink hair. She's quite bubbly and perky, though not a GenkiGirl.
%%* Komoe Tsukuyomi from LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex.
%%* Amanda Werner from Anime/Blassreiter.
%%* The unnamed protagonist of JinruiWaSuitaiShimashita.
%%* Myuu from Anime/HagureYuushaNoEstetica.
* Yuno Gasai from Manga/FutureDiary has some pretty pink hair and is very cheerful and romantic around her beloved Yukki, but she's definitely Yandere not as sweet when it comes to anyone else...
* Manga/ElfenLied: Nyuu, Lucy's SplitPersonality. Her hair has a more reddish tint in the anime whereas the manga has it as bright pink. Either way, Nyuu is cheerful (and dumb as a post). This is in direct contrast to Lucy's psychotic personality.
* The titular pink-haired Utena from Anime/RevolutionaryGirlUtena is a passionate and optimistic ActionGirl.
* When alone with her few confidantes, Mina Tepes from Manga/DanceInTheVampireBund often qualifies. The problem is that being a 400 year old VampireMonarch with vicious political rivals obliges her to take other IDidWhatIHadToDo roles.

* Megan Gwynn (Pixie) from ComicBook/NewXMen fit the definition for a good while, until Magik (or Magik's demonic clone) got to her. Depending on the artist, her hair's now either mostly black with pink streaks or mostly pink with black streaks, but either way, she was heavily affected by having bits of her soul ripped out and is suffering some serious overall disillusionment with the X-Adults.
* Devi from IFeelSick definitely fits 'passionate and strong' and wishes she fit 'romantic'.

.
%%* Shinju Miwa (Cure Pearl) from FanFic/ShiningPrettyCure, in both forms.
%%* Sakura Tsuitei from FanFic/PrettyCureFullColor.
* In the Manga/DeathNote fic FanFic/PointOfSuccession Matt is a Rose-Haired Boy-right before Mello was abducted by a SerialKiller he had caused Matt to have a hair dye "accident" dying his hair an embarassing shade of bright pink. Matt has resolved he's not going to dye it back until they've got Mello back.

%%
%% * Blink from Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast.
%%

* Literature/TrappedOnDraconica: Daniar is the strong and passionate type.
* Effie Trinket from TheHungerGames, who can be optimistic and effervescent to an almost manic degree. Her wig is pink in the first book (and in her first scenes in the movie), so it's the one she's most associated with, along with the color pink in general.

* TheOjou Princess Micaiah in VideoGame/MicaApoptosis has very pale pink/purple hair, and is kind and feminine.
* Franchise/FinalFantasy:
** Lenna in VideoGame/FinalFantasyV (in her sprites, at least; Amano artwork has her as blonde). Her element is water, which signifies devotion, and she's a FriendToAllLivingThings princess who treats everyone with kindness and worries very much over the world's welfare.
** VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII has Serah Farron, a cheerful and big-hearted girl who's a Foil to her stoic soldier sister. Vanille (who veers more into a salmon-shade) comes as bubbly and optimistic as they come [[spoiler:until it's revealed she's faking it]]. But even after this, she's still the most upbeat of everyone. Lightning herself is a subversion; while her hair is pink, she is not a sweetie, even though she does level up in kindness during the game.
* Yuyuko Saigyouji from the VideoGame/Touhou series, due to her cherry blossom theme and her cheerful and optimistic personality.
* The Standard Branch of the TokimekiMemorial series has a good number of Rose-Haired Girls. Tokimemo 2 has the Shirayuki twins, Miho and Maho, as well as EnsembleDarkHorse Kaori Yae (who happened to be a GenkiGirl before the events that made her the BrokenBird she is at the start of the game, ).
* Serra from FireEmblem: The Blazing Blade and Ethlin from Geneaology of the Holy War are GenkiGirl examples, while Linoan from Thracia 776 is the docile ProperLady variety.
** Olivia in Awakening, except she's a ShrinkingViolet. And though you really have to push it, she can marry the blue-haired Chrom. Cherche, too, as a ProperLady variant. (Though she can't marry Chrom due to appearing after the TimeSkip).
** Also, when Similarly,
* Mayu Uzaka from VideoGame/LightningLegendDaigoNoDaibouken. She's of the cheery, strong, and passionnate type, being a Tomboy fighting for justice.
* Liebea from VideoGame/Rosenkreuzstilette. Bonus points for being a ProperLady who's prone to crying.
* Imoen in BaldursGate. Somehow, she dyed her hair pink in the sequel. She's a mage and is very cheerful despite all the bad things that happened to her.

* Kohaku and Hisui from Tsukihime. Kohaku is cheery, while Hisui is docile.
* Misha from VisualNovel/KatawaShoujo is of the cheery, energetic type. [[spoiler:Except she actually dyes her hair and she's not as cheery as you'd think.]]
* Rose Haibara, protagonist of RoseGunsDays, is of a generally kind and understanding nature, making everyone love her. However she can speak strongly when there is something she cannot accept.
* Elodie from VisualNovel/LongLiveTheQueen, who starts out as a sweet, innocent, and somewhat naive fourteen-year old princess who just inherited the throne on her mother's death. Depending on how you play (and whether she survives), she can continue to play out the stereotype, or turn into one hell of a subversion.
* Kendall Flowers from Series/DontTakeItPersonallyBabeItJustAintYourStory, a charismatic, outspoken, terrifyingly intelligent and occasionally rather insensitive teenage girl.

* Princess Bubblegum of AdventureTime has many of these traits, except for the romantic part.
* Molly of WesternAnimation/BubbleGuppies is most often the cheery and optimistic kind. She also has a blue-haired love interest.
* Many characters from Franchise/MyLittlePony.
** Patch, Clover and Sweetheart from WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyTales; Patch and Clover are GenkiGirl examples while Sweetheart is the docile version.
** Fluttershy from WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic is the docile version, while Pinkie Pie is both the "cheery and optimistic" version and an extreme GenkiGirl. In both cases however, you don't want to mess with their friends. Celestia is also depicted with rose hair 1000 years ago, though speculation about what her personality was like back then is just that.
** Sweetie Belle as well- the "sweetie" part is even in her name!
%%* Miss Naughty from TheMrMenShow.
* Dolce from AngelsFriends is of the cheery and optimistic type.
* Starfire from WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo is usually very optimistic and cheerful.
* Kimber Benton from WesternAnimation/Jem has shockingly pink EightiesHair, and is the most friendly and cheerful of their group, easily befriending Stormer from their rival band The Misfits. She also has the most romantic entanglements aside from Jem herself.
