{{Parody Episode}}s or {{Whole Plot Reference}}s of ''Film/TheWizardOfOz''. The parodies are usually of the Creator/JudyGarland film, not [[Literature/TheWonderfulWizardOfOz the original books]], mainly because of SmallReferencePools, but also due to that film's conceit of Dorothy's companions being portrayed by recognisable human actors in costume (as opposed to an actual lion, scarecrow, and tinman), thus allowing for [[AndYouWereThere existing characters to be easily slotted into those roles]]. If it's a FormulaBreakingEpisode in a series, it will almost certainly be based on the film sufficiently to take advantage of the pre-existing ButYouWereThereAndYouAndYou concept.

A handy way to abbreviate the story that has been used with this trope repeatedly is to have the main character travel to see the Wizard, probably meeting the equivalents of Dorothy's companions on the way, and then jump straight to the final confrontation with the Wizard.

As an interesting footnote, while the original book is in the PublicDomain in the U.S., the movie is not. So you may run into a LawyerFriendlyCameo standing in for elements that come only from the film, such as the ruby slippers[[note]]in the book they're silver shoes[[/note]], the Lollipop Guild, or the song "Over the Rainbow".

Compare to DystopianOz for dark references and adaptations of the ''Oz'' series.

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* ''Franchise/CodeGeass'': ''Oz the Reflection'', a photostory and manga spinoff set between the first and second seasons. It contains analogs of Dorothy, Toto, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion as part of a unit called the Glinda Knights. Oddly, the HumongousMecha aspect of the show remains.
* ''Manga/TotoTheWonderfulAdventure'' is a more action-focused interpretation of ''The Wizard of Oz'' aimed at the ShonenDemographic. Among the many changes made: the setting is more of a modern-day UrbanFantasy world, the main character is basically Scarecrow reimagined as a human StockShonenHero, Dorothy is an ActionGirl, and Toto has magical shapeshifting powers.
* ''Anime/TheWonderfulGalaxyOfOz''. Yes, such a thing exists. Dorothy is a native of New Kansas; the Tin Man is (what else?) a robot; the Scarecrow is some kind of mutant plant hybrid wossname; and the Lion is a humanoid lion. The Wicked Witch is basically [[WesternAnimation/{{ThunderCats|1985}} Mumm-Ra]], and plots to take over the galaxy.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* "The Long Road Home"; a ''ComicBook/LegionOfSuperHeroes'' {{Elseworld}} with Lightning Lass as Dorothy; Brainiac 5 as the Scarecrow; Wildfire as the Tin Man; Timber Wolf as the Cowardly Lion; Starfinger as the Wicked Witch; White Witch as the Good Witch (duh!); and Mon-El as the Wizard. Actually included some elements of [[Literature/LandOfOz the later books]], such as Ayla's friends being transformed into ornaments (as happened in the Nome King's castle).
* "Ellie Dee in the Land of Wuz" from '' Cherry Comics''.
* Yorick from ''ComicBook/YTheLastMan'' has a DreamSequence where he's [[WholesomeCrossdresser Dorothy]], ActionGirl Agent 355 is the Scarecrow, and the no-nonsense Dr Mann is Tin Man. The Cowardly Lion's face is never shown, but it's implied to be [[spoiler:Hero, his sister, who was part of a murderous cult that tried to kill him the last time they met.]] And [[FromBadToWorse it all goes downhill from there...]]
* One non-canon Fantastic Four story had Susan Storm being knocked out on their rocket ride and dreaming of the Land of Fuzz. Greeted by the Micro-Nuts, she was informed that her ship crashed on Galactic Cuss the Fairly Malicious, whose invisible sneakers were comically oversized on her. Accompanied by HERBIE on her way to Captain Know-More, she met Jolly, cursed to set alight whenever someone said fire, Thang, whose dry skin was like brick and mortar, and Wreck, who had trouble holding his elastic body to one form. Naturally the obvious parallels come into play when she wakes up and [[AndYouWereThere finds their real life counterparts having developed more or less the same powers]], to which she screamed.
* ComicBook/ArchieComics did a couple of these:
** One story featured Betty as Dorothy, wearing a pair of ruby sneakers coveted by Veronica as the Wicked Witch of the West. Archie, Reggie and Jughead played the roles of the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion, Mr. Lodge was the Wizard and the Good Witches of various compass points were played by characters like Big Ethel, Midge and Nancy.
** Another story featured Veronica as Dorothy, carrying the "ruby credit card" and pursued by Cheryl Blossom, who took over the Wicked Witch of the West role. The male characters all reprised their roles, while Betty became the Good Witch of the North.

[[folder:Fan Works]]
* [[http://www.gamejag.net/forum/index.php?/topic/17223-the-wizard-of-obligatory/ "The Wizard of Obligatory"]] is a cynical [[ParodiedTrope parody of the idea]] that puts ''VideoGame/BaldursGate'' characters in Oz for no reason, because "everyone always does this parody crossover."
* The Smurflings do this in the ''Fanfic/EmpathTheLuckiestSmurf'' story "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Sassette is Dorothy, Nat is the Scarecrow, Slouchy is the Tin Woodsmurf, Snappy is the Cowardly Lion, Puppy who is shrunk to Smurf-size is Toto, Empath using Papa Smurf's face as a HugeHolographicHead is the Wizard, Smurfette is Glinda the Good Witch, and a female version of Gargamel is the Wicked Witch of the West. A few other Smurf characters play parts as well, such as Hefty and Duncan [=McSmurf=] being the Emerald Village guards, Vanity being its tour guide, and Brainy being the custodian of the Wizard.
* The cast of ''Series/GilligansIsland'' do this in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10160778/1/Gilligan-in-Oz Gilligan in Oz.]]'' Gilligan is Dorothy (and gets a pair of ruby shoes), Mrs. Howell is Glinda, Kinkaid the hunter is the Wicked Wizard of the West, the Professor is the Scarecrow, Mary Ann is Elleree (an OriginalCharacter who's the last of [[Film/OzTheGreatAndPowerful the Porcelain People]]), Ginger is the Tin Woman, the Skipper is the Cowardly Lion and Mr. Howell is the Wizard. Ironically enough, Mary Ann of the original show is herself meant to be a parody of Dorothy Gale. Being Trapped in a Strange Land ain't helping her case with the show's premise, but she does often mention living with her aunt and uncle back in Kansas...as well as occasionally donning ubiquitous pigtails and a gingham dress.
* [[WesternAnimation/InvaderZim Dib]] gets stuck in one in ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/762017/1/The-Wizard-of-Ak The Wizard of Ak.]]'' He plays the role of Dorothy (complete with ruby slippers!), a random dog is Toto, the Almighty Tallest are the Warlock of the North and the Warlock of the South, Mrs. Bitters is the Wicked Witch of the West, Gir is the Scarecrow, Gaz is the Tin Girl, Zim is the Cowardly Lion and Professor Membrane is the Wizard.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9763422/1/Wonderful-Wizard-Of-Nick Wonderful Wizard Of Nick]]'' is a MegaCrossover version of the story, with [[WesternAnimation/HeyArnold Lila]] as Dorothy, [[WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius Jimmy Neutron]] as the Scarecrow, [[WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot Jenny Wakeman]] as the Tin Man and [[WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}} Chuckie Finster]] as the Cowardly Lion. Unlike most versions of the trope, the story is based more on the original book than the movie.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12469926/1/The-Time-Lords-Of-Oz The Time Lords Of Oz]]'' by theAdventurer0815 is a retelling of ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' - starring Sarah Jane as [[PluckyGirl Dorothy]], K9 as Toto, Harry as the Scarecrow, Brigadier as the Tin Man and more Time Lords than you'd expect. It's really funny.
* Charlie Duval's ''Doctor Who in The Land of Oz'' has Sarah Jane as Dorothy and K9 as Toto but posits the fourth Doctor in the Scarecrow position, a cowardly Dalek ("Please do not exterminate me!") and an amnesiac Cyberman. When the TARDIS first lands in Munchkinland and the Doctor sees the Wicked Witch of the East underneath, he turns to Sarah Jane and asks "Are we a good witch or a bad witch?" Has a twist ending.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6226956/1/The-Witch-of-Washu The Witch of Washu]]'' is a version with the characters from ''Anime/TenchiMuyo''. Sasami fills in for Dorothy, Ryo-Ohki is Toto, [[TheDitz Mihoshi]] is the Scarecrow, Tenchi is "Tinchi," [[SpacePirate Ryoko]] is "The Cowardly Highwaywoman," Washu is the Witch of Oz, and Ayeka is the Wicked Witch of the West.

[[folder:Films -- Animated]]
* The 2011 direct-to-video movie ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerryAndTheWizardOfOz'' depicts the characters and elements from the classic film, only in animated form and with the cat and mouse added into the story. It received a sequel, ''Tom and Jerry: Back to Oz'', in 2016.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Live-Action TV]]
* ''Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer'' has never done a whole plot reference, but it does make several references to ''The Wizard of Oz''.
** Possibly a coincidence, but there is a character named Oz.
** Buffy refers to the hyena-possessed bullies in "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS1E6ThePack The Pack]]" as the "winged monkeys".
** In "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS6E4Flooded Flooded]]", Andrew boasts that he trained flying demon monkeys to disrupt a school play.
** In "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS1E10Nightmares Nightmares]]", Billy Palmer awakens from his coma and, seeing the Scoobies around his bed, says, "I had the strangest dream. And you were in it, and you..."
** In "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS4E20TheYokoFactor The Yoko Factor]]", Willow says, "If ever a whiz there was."
** In "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS7E19EmptyPlaces Empty Places]]", Rona says, "Ding, dong, the witch is dead" when Buffy is ousted from the house.
** In "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS6E22Grave Grave]]", Dark!Willow gleefully says, "Fly, my pretty, fly!" when she sends her ball of fire to seek Andrew and Jonathan. Anya refers to her as the most powerful witch in the Western Hemisphere, which would make DW the Wicked Witch of the West.
** The book "Halloween Rain" makes more than a few comparisons of Cordelia to the Wicked Witch of the West. Willow also calls her BetaBitch Aphrodesia a winged monkey.
** The episode "[[Recap/BuffyTheVampireSlayerS5E5NoPlaceLikeHome No Place Like Home]]" takes its name from the movie, obviously. A similar reference is made in the ''Angel'' episodes "[[Recap/AngelS02E20OverTheRainbow Over the Rainbow]]" and "[[Recap/AngelS02E22TheresNoPlaceLikePlrtzGlrb There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb]]". In that former, Cordelia clicks her heels three times (as Dorothy does in the film) and grumbles, "Worth a shot."
* The ''Series/{{Scrubs}}'' episode "My Way Home" is a slightly more subtle version of this trope, being an ordinary episode laced with {{ShoutOut}}s and parallels to the classic story. It starts with J.D. listening to Music/{{Toto}}; When he arrives at the hospital, the Janitor has painted different routes on the hallways, with yellow leading to the exit, and spray paints J.D.'s sneakers ruby red; J.D.'s only goal is to get back home and enjoy his day off; Elliot needs brains to give a lecture; Turk needs a heart for surgery; Carla needs courage to become a new parent; Drs. Cox and Kelso act as the Wizard at a time; Jordan has a one-off "I'm melting"; and at the end, [[http://youtu.be/KCeQuqMS9Ww?t=25s Ted's band does a beautiful cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow (ukulele included)"]].
* One of the many parodies in the 200th episode of ''Series/StargateSG1''. Vala as Dorothy; Mitchell as the Scarecrow; Teal'c as the Tin Man; Daniel as the Lion; Carter as the Good Witch, and Landry as the Wizard.
** For extra fun, other than the plot itself no overt references to ''Wizard of Oz'' are made until the end, either in dialog or in aesthetics (the house is replaced by a spaceship, the Witch of the East and Wizard expires are only ever referred to as the "Evil Ruler" and the "Supreme Being" and the munchkins analogs look like typical ''Stargate'' transplanted ancient human peasants, and the similarity between Vala's outfit and Dorothy's IconicOutfit are subtle enough that it can easily be mistaken for just a new outfit) so inattentive viewers might not realize it's an Off To See The Wizard plot until Michell, Teal'c and Daniel suddenly pop out from BehindTheBlack in full costume.
* There was a DreamSequence of this on ''Series/{{Fame}}'' (the first TV series version) once.
* ''Series/{{MADtv}}'', where Dorothy beats up Glinda because she didn't tell Dorothy how the Ruby Slippers worked in her first scene in Oz.
** ''[=MADtv=]'' had another ''Wizard of Oz'' parody where Dorothy (Nicole Parker) is caught in a hurricane (as she's now living in Florida) and ends up in Oz. She clicks her heels to return home and not have to go through the plot again -- until hurricanes keep bringing her back to Oz and crushing members of the Lollipop Guild.
*** And another, where Dorothy wakes up to find that her Auntie Em and her family are replaced by M&M's and that the whole ending is being shamelessly used for a commercial.
*** There was another one before that, where Dorothy meets a black slave with one leg in Oz -- she ends up having sex with him in the bushes.
* ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'' parodies:
** The Season 5 episode hosted by Elliot Gould has a Canadian version (''The Incredible Man'') where Dorothy follows yellow snow instead of a yellow brick road and befriends a hockey player, a Mountie, etc. (This sketch became notorious when Garrett Morris {''SNL'''s token black cast member at the time} had a nervous breakdown backstage after being cast as a flying [[UnfortunateImplications monkey]].)
** Seasons 20 and 29 have similar parodies involving Dorothy's arrival in Munchkinland. In Season 20, the Munchkins aren't impressed by her accidental killing of the Wicked Witch of the East and want her to go away. In Season 29, it turns out that her house landed on not just the Wicked Witch, but also several Munchkins -- and the latter aren't quite dead yet. (This sketch ends with an announcer entering the scene and recommending the viewer to rewatch it while stoned and listening to Music/PinkFloyd's ''The Dark Side of the Moon''.)
** Season 36 has the movie as the focus of an episode of Turner Classic Movie channel's show "The Essentials". The episode shows deleted scenes featuring a nerdy weather vane (played by Fred Armisen) joining Dorothy (Creator/AnneHathaway), The Tin Man (Taran Killam), The Scarecrow (Andy Samberg), and the Cowardly Lion (Bill Hader) on their trip to Oz.
** Season 41 has two references to ''Theatre/TheWiz'' in the episode hosted by Creator/RyanGosling, which aired two days after NBC premiered their own version of the musical, ''The Wiz Live!'':
*** ''Weekend Update'' co-anchor Michael Che reports, "On Thursday, a gang of Black people, who were allegedly under the influence of narcotics, murdered two high-ranking community leaders on live television..." then reveals that he was reading the Fox News Channel recap of ''The Wiz''.
*** A crossover between ''The Wiz Live!'' and 1939's ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' features Ryan Gosling as the '39 Scarecrow, who awakens from a train ride to find himself in "East Oz", the setting of ''The Wiz Live!'' A culture clash ensues when the "West Oz" denizen meets a 2015-minded Dorothy (Sasheer Zamata), her similarly modern friends (Michael Che as the Scarecrow, Jay Pharoah as the Tin Man, and Kenan Thompson as the Cowardly Lion), and the sassy Wiz herself (Leslie Jones, following the lead of ''The Wiz Live!'' by casting a female performer in the role of the Wiz).
* ''Series/TheLatestBuzz'': "The Wonderful Wizard of Buzz Issue" with Rebecca as Dorothy, Michael as the Scarecrow, Noah as the Tin Man, Wilder as the Cowardly Lion, and Amanda as the Wicked Witch.
* The ''Series/DonnyAndMarie'' variety show had a famous sketch, viewable at paullynde.info, in which Creator/PattyMaloney wants to sell her house and Creator/PaulLynde is the real estate agent. The latter half of the sketch is packed with shout-outs to ''The Wizard of Oz''.
* On ''Series/{{Sliders}}'', the group once went to see The Sorcerer.
* On ''Series/TheSuiteLifeOnDeck'', when Bailey is knocked unconscious in the basement of her home after an argument with [[BettyAndVeronica Cody and Moose]] in Kettlecorn, Kansas after a tornado in, well, "[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Twister, Part 2]]", she has a brief ''Wizard of Oz''-style dream, with Moose as the the Scarecrow, Cody as the Tin Man, Woody as the Cowardly Lion (Though he wants to be called [[Franchise/StarWars Chewbacca]]), etc.
* An episode of ''Series/McGeeAndMe'', "Twister and Shout", did it with the animated [=McGee=] character as a gender-flipped Dorothy. There was a part about searching for 'the eye of the storm', which had a literal eye in this case.
* ''Series/{{SCTV}}'' did a ''Series/FantasyIsland'' parody that took the guests into a Hope/Crosby ''Film/RoadTo'' movie, ''Film/{{Casablanca}}'', and a Creator/FredAstaire musical before it wrapped up into a ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' ending with Catherine O'Hara as Glinda and Andrea Martin as the Witch of the West.
* ''Rolling Stone'' magazine had the cast of ''Series/{{Seinfeld}}'' on the cover dressed up as Dorothy (Julia), Tin Man (Jerry), Cowardly Lion (Jason) and Scarecrow (Michael).
* ''Series/AllThat'' had a sketch titled "The Wizard of Cos". In it, Dorothy journeys through the Land of Cos to Creator/BillCosby's house, in hopes that he could help her go home and take a shower. Along the way, she befriends Mr. Toad, who wants a way to keep his face from accidentally scaring children, and Pasta Man, who wants some sauce to go along with the noodles that adorn him. This was All That's longest sketch, and took up two acts.
* Sketch comedy show ''Series/{{Roundhouse}}'' based a whole episode on this concept, as the Anyfamily daughter ends up in Hollywood and the plot plays out with a lot of mid-1990's-specific gags: Luncheon Land, The Wicked Witch of the West Coast (aka Creator/ShannenDoherty), The Horse of ''Series/InLivingColor'', etc.
* A second-season episode of ''Series/{{Lexx}}'' called "Woz".
* The ''Series/DoctorWho'' story "The Three Doctors." Evidence: the tornado is now a black hole; the Doctor, Jo, and UNIT get transported through it and meet the First and Second Doctors (as well as Dr. Tyler and Mr. Ollis); Omega is a hybrid of the Wizard and Wicked Witch of the West, who uses Gel Guards and an anti-matter organism (read: Winged Monkeys).
* ''Series/{{Farscape}}'' often references ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' (along with Franchise/AliceInWonderland) with its human protagonist unexpectedly picked up and thrown into the midst of a universe of bizarre and often insane alien lifeforms. The first two times John Crichton thinks he's returned to Earth use the ButYouWereThereAndYouAndYou to reveal he hasn't, whereas the episode where he does return for real is called "Kansas" (even though he's actually in Florida for most of it). This trope is also a FourthWall gag on how the episodes were filmed in Australia, the "Land of Oz".
* ''Series/{{Apocalypse}}'' is [[WordOfGod officially]] "[[http://derrenbrown.co.uk/post-apocalypse/ the Wizard of Oz with zombies]]". Only played out in real time, featuring a real man who doesn't know it's a set-up.
* ''Series/That70sShow'' has an ImagineSpot in which Jackie visits Oz to seek advice from the Wizard. Unfortunately, the rest of the gang expresses dissatisfaction with the roles Jackie assigns them,[[note]]Kelso as a brainless Sarecrow, Hyde as a cold-hearted Tin Woodsman, Fez as a Cowardly Lion that [[InformedSpecies looks more like a bear]], Donna as the Wicked Witch, and Eric as Donna's flying monkey[[/note]] and they chase her down the yellow brick road instead of performing a traditional spoof. When Jackie finally reaches the Wizard, played by Pamela Sue Martin, she helps Jackie realize, "[[SecondPlaceIsForLosers Winning titles and being a good person are the same thing!]]" This is a rare example of the parody being based on the books rather than the Judy Garland film; the costumes are straight out of W.W. Denslow's original 1900 illustrations.
* ''Series/OnceUponATime'''s third season features the Wicked Witch of the West as an arc villain, gathering the heart, brain, and courage of three characters for her ultimate plan. Two episodes' flashbacks are set in Oz:
** "It's Not Easy Being Green" casts Zelena in the Dorothy role, brought to Oz by a tornado and eventually headed to the Emerald City to see the Wizard so he can help her return to her home realm. When she feels rejected there, she returns to Oz and turns the Wizard into her first flying monkey, completing her transformation into the Wicked Witch.
** "Kansas" brings Dorothy herself to Oz, where she eventually throws water on Zelena, causing her to melt, then goes to see the Wizard. The Wizard gives Dorothy the silver slippers, allowing her to return to Kansas. [[spoiler:The Wizard, in this instance, is revealed to be Zelena, who faked her death.]]
* ''Series/BillNyeTheScienceGuy'' had a segment on probability called "The Wizard of Odds", which parodies the scene where Toto reveals who the Wizard is. In the parody, Dorothy asks him about her odds of getting home. He teaches her that it doesn't take a wizard to know about probability.
* ''Series/TheAmandaShow'' had a Blockblister {{mockbuster}} of ''The Wizard of Oz'', titled ''The Wizard of Voz''. Blini and Biscotti played Dorothy and the Scarecrow, respectively, and basically recited dialogue similar to quotes from the movie until Dorothy tapped her fuzzy red "ruby" slippers to return home.
* ''Series/AsTheWorldTurns'' once did a Storybook Episode as a St. Valentine's Day Special, with the FramingDevice of all the characters reading fairy tales to one of the show's little kids, and the final story being a ''Wizard of Oz'' parody. Being a soap opera, Dorothy's companions all fall in love with her, explaining why she wants to get back to Kansas. Hilariously, the reader points out the whole story is too long to finish in one night, especially as the last sketch, only for another character to tell her not to skip the part with the WickedWitch, since that's everyone's favorite part, and finishes off the story.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Literature]]
* The {{gamebook}}, ''Literature/IntoTheTwisterOfTerror'', is a borderline parody of ''Wizard'', with the adventure kicking off with a tornado attack while you're visiting your aunt and uncle in their Kansas farm. You then befriend a [[TalkingAnimal talking dog]] named Yoyo (a spoof to Toto), goes on a bunch of outlandish adventures, and in one of the good endings you even name-drop the "there's no place like home" line from the movie!
* Creator/LarryNiven has written that he did this unintentionally when writing his novel ''Literature/{{Ringworld}}''.
* ''Literature/{{Wicked}}'' is a {{deconstruction}} of the series.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Manhwa]]
* ''Manhwa/DorothyOfOz'' is basically a manwha-ized retelling, starring an [[OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent ordinary Korean girl]] who can see the Yellow Brick Road, which leads her to Oz... which gets her mistaken as the great and powerful "Dorothy". Oh, and the Wicked Witch of the West uses bio-weapons, the Tin Man is a [[HollywoodCyborg cyborg]], the lion is genetically engineered...
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music]]
* Tom "T-Bone" Stankus's novelty song "Existential Blues" is a stream-of-consciousness... thing... inspired by the movie version. Particularly the part about the "poppies poppies poppies!"
* In "The Wonderful Kingdom of Claus" by Music/BobRivers and Twisted Radio on their album ''I Am Santa Claus'', Dorothy and Toto visit the mall to meet SantaClaus, only to be at first turned away by his elves. Dorothy says that she has a gold card and the elf comments "That's a card of a different color!" and lets her in. She and Toto are met by a booming voice declaring himself to be Santa Claus, but it is eventually revealed to be a skinny guy. He explains that Mrs. Claus put him on the [=SlimFast=] diet. "I used to have a belly that shakes like a bowl-ful of jelly. Now I just have shakes. One for breakfast, one for lunch, and a sensible skim milk and cookie for dinner. I can't stand it." He reveals that he and the elves no longer make toys at his workshop at the North Pole because they got undercut by the malls, and so he's just a middle-man who delivers toys now. He and his elves then launch into a parody of "If I only had a brain." "We thought we made it all, from Barbie dolls to rubber balls / But Betsy-Wetsy took a fall. / They marked her down! / She's at the mall!" After the song ends, Dorothy laments his fate, but just then a savior shows up, hooking Santa up with a fax machine and pager (yeah, it's pretty dated). Santa and his operation are saved, and Dorothy and Toto are left to lament how now he'll easily be able to check up on who's naughty and who's nice.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Music Videos]]
* The De La Soul music video for "Oooh" (from their 2000 album, "AOI: Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump") was a ghetto version of ''The Wizard of Oz''. In the video, a woman with a chihuahua in her purse is denied access to a club (by Dave Chappelle, using the voice he uses for his crackhead characters on ''Film/HalfBaked'' and ''Series/ChappellesShow''). When she tries to sneak in, the woman falls and finds herself in the land of "Oooh" dressed as Dorothy with the three members of De La Soul as the Lion, The Scarecrow, and the Tin Man heading off to Brick City to see the Great Wiz (played by Wu Tang Clan member Redman). The difference between this parody and all other ''Wizard of Oz'' parodies is that: (1) The shoes "Dorothy" has on are silver platform heels (which is a reference to the ''Wizard of Oz'' book, which had Dorothy's shoes as silver rather than ruby like in the popular film version), and (2) The whole thing turns out to be a thought in the woman's head as she's being insulted by the bouncer, averting the ButYouWereThereAndYouAndYou trope (and referencing "An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge"'s ending in which everything the protagonist did was just an extended fantasy), and the woman enters the club unnoticed.
* Music/BluesTraveler parodied this story in the video for "Runaround": The Dorothy stand-in and her buddies can't get into the club where the band is performing, and when they manage to sneak in backstage they discover that John Popper is in the Wizard role, performing offstage while a younger, slimmer performer lip-syncs to his work onstage.
* Appropriate for a singer with an album called ''Music/GoodbyeYellowBrickRoad'', Music/EltonJohn's video for "Original Sin" has Music/MandyMoore as a girl who dreams she's attending a 1970's Elton show, after meeting a Glinda-like Good Witch.
* Music/InsaneClownPosse's [[Music/CarnivalOfCarnage "Wizard of the Hood"]] has Violent J in the Dorothy role, Shaggy 2 Dope as The Scarecrow, Shaggy's brother John [=Kickjazz=] as The Tin Man, and Kid Villain as The Cowardly Lion. They shoot the Wizard and steal his car. J wakes up from drinking at a party.

* A HilariousInHindsight moment in the "Endless Bummer" episode of Podcast/NerdyShow's ''Dungeons and Doritos''.
-->'''Vimak:''' Oh God! There's three of us and we have a small animal.\\
'''Jen'Ifer:''' And I have [[TokenEvilTeammate no heart]]. And Vimak has [[TokenGoodTeammate no brain]].\\
'''Jamela:''' ''[confused]'' I'm Dorothy.\\
'''[[TheCasanova Barty]]:''' Wait, I'm the cowardly lion?

[[folder:Print Media]]
* ''Magazine/{{MAD}}'''s 300th issue in 1990 included "The Wizard of Odds", which sends Dorothy "Somewhere Into the Nineties" (actually, the end of UsefulNotes/TheEighties culturally), and gives her "$300 ruby-red Reeboks" for her journey to meet Creator/DonaldTrump.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Puppet Shows]]
* Before ''The Muppets' Wizard of Oz'', there was a ''Wizard of Oz'' medley in ''The Muppets Go to the Movies'' with Miss Piggy as Dorothy, Scooter as the Scarecrow, Gonzo as the Tin Man, and Fozzie as the Lion. (The last two reprised the roles in ''Muppets' Wizard of Oz'', which had Kermit as the Scarecrow and [[LionsAndTigersAndHumansOhMy human star]] Ashanti as Dorothy. Piggy played all the witches.) The segment starts in black and white, which leads to a confused Rowlf interrupting Piggy's performance of "Over the Rainbow". When Piggy explains that it will turn to color in a minute, he tells the viewers, "Don't adjust your sets, folks!"
** Before that, on the Creator/BrookeShields episode of ''Series/TheMuppetShow'', they did an entire episode based on ''Literature/AlicesAdventuresInWonderland'', but Fozzie is confused about what book they're parodying because he wants to portray the Tin Woodman. In the end, everyone sings "We're Off to See the Wizard".
* ''Series/SesameStreet'':
** Cookie's Crumby Pictures segments once did a Wizard of Oz spoof called "The Cookie of Oz" where the Good Witch of the parody teaches Cookie Monster about following directions.
** There was also an episode in the 1970s in which Margaret Hamiliton reprised her role as the Wicked Witch of the West. Unfortunately, [[BannedEpisode it was pulled from circulation because it scared too many children]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Radio]]
* The ''Radio/RevoltingPeople'' episode "Somewhere over the Rainbow" had Mary as Dorothy, Joshua as the Scarecrow, [=McGurk=] as the Tin Man, and Sam as the Lion.
* A two-part episode of the Christian radio series ''Radio/AdventuresInOdyssey'' was a [=KYDS=] Radio presentation that reinterpreted the Wizard Of Oz story as an allegory to how Jesus described the paths people take to get to happiness. The story involved a girl named Dottie winding up in an Oz-like land after a tornado, and the scarecrow and tin man were a department store mannequin and robot, respectively (the lion was still a lion, except he talked like Yoda), and they set off to meet the "Wonderful Wishy Woz" as directed by the Fairy Odd Mother. (No relation to [[WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddparents Cosmo and Wanda]].) [[spoiler:In a twist on the usual formula of these Wizard Of Oz parodies, the Wishy Woz is just a neurotic and stupid little man who is no help at all; the Yellow Brick Road, er, Big Fat Road, leads to nowhere, and the Fairy Odd Mother and the Wicked Witch of the West analogue are [[EvilAllAlong one and the same]]. In the end, it turns out that Dottie had needed to speak to a seemingly unimportant fisherman (who is subtly implied to be either God or Jesus, if the fact that he calls himself "I AM" is any indication) that the Fairy Odd Mother had told her to avoid in order to get home.]]

* In "Old World Blues" DLC of ''VideoGame/FalloutNewVegas'', you start off with your brain, your heart and your spine removed and your main goal is to find a way to get them back into your body. Doctor Mobius is a combination of the Wizard of Oz and the Wicked Witch, being the primary antagonist and as it turns out a much less intimidating figure than he first appears [[spoiler:since as it turns out, he's a senile AntiVillain who bears you no ill-will and is attempting to stop his former colleagues from turning the world outside into their testing grounds]]. Similarly, Mobius reveals that the [[MacGuffin the three pieces of technology you you had to collect before facing him]] can serve as the organs needed by the Think Tank (the Stealth Suit represents the heart, the X-2 Antenna represents the brain, and the Sonic Emitter represents the spine), so in a way, you basically have what you need all along. He then recounts how this is similar to a story he remembers of a [[TakeThat gang of murderous thugs who continued massacring all in their way despite this]].
* ''VideoGame/FlowerKnightGirl'': The story event "The Mysterious Wizard of Eda" is a StorybookEpisode where several Flower Knights find themselves in the country of Doulily, subsequently going on a journey across the land to find their way back home, meeting the equivalent story characters in the form of [[AlternateSelf alternate versions of pre-existing knights]], and {{lampshad|eHanging}}ing various story moments. The Flower Knights introduced in the event are even [[FairytaleMotifs based on several of the lead characters]]: Peristrophe's a young girl accompanied by a dog named Toto; Reed's a scarecrow-looking girl who believes themselves to be an idiot; and Screw Flower's a TinMan in [[EmotionlessGirl another sense.]]
* [[WordSaladTitle RIZ-ZOAWD]] (or, as known elsewhere, ''The Wizard of Oz: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road''), retells the 1939 film in a JRPG setting.
* ''VideoGame/EmeraldCityConfidential'' is a "retelling" of sorts through a FilmNoir lens, as a detective is hired by Dorothy (who prefers 'Dee') to find her missing fiance. It plays with the canon from both the film and books: The Lion's now a sleazy lawyer, the Tin Man is an ineffectual ruler who allows crime to run rampant, the Scarecrow is a jaded advisor to Queen Ozma, and Toto can speak.
* ''VideoGame/RipenedTinglesBalloonTripOfLove'' has Tingle in the Dorothy role, trying to escape a picture book world with the help of a scarecrow, a heartless {{Fembot}} and a cowardly Lion.
* ''VideoGame/RingFitAdventure'' features World 11, the Valley of Wishes, as the ''Wizard of Oz''' analog. The player character and Ring have to venture through the level to find three companions (fittingly named Scarecruel, the Cowardly Strongman, and the ''Toned'' Man) in order to get their wish granted.

[[folder:Web Animation]]
* ''WebAnimation/HowItShouldHaveEnded'' showed an alternate scenario, in which one of the Munchkins shoots the Wicked Witch of the West dead as she threatens Dorothy. Glinda comments that this feat puts a damper on her plan to make Dorothy kill the Witch, accidentally letting a darker side of herself show through. Embarassed, she quickly teleports Dorothy back to Kansas.
* ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'':
** Several of the teachers and mentors are based on Wizard of Oz characters. Ozpin is the Wizard, as TheChessmaster behind several events, and [[spoiler:whereas the Wizard is an ordinary man pretending to be a mage, he's a mage pretending to be ordinary]]. Qrow is the Scarecrow, going by his childishness and heavy drinking habits to shut down his brain. Ironwood is the Tin Man, as a cyborg with a notable LackOfEmpathy. Leonardo Lionheart is the Cowardly Lion, being a leonine [[LittleBitBeastly faunus]] who [[spoiler:betrays the heroes to save his own skin]]. And Glynda Goodwitch is... [[CaptainObvious well]]. She uses a riding crop like a magic wand, and despite her stern personality, is rather compassionate.
** Main characters Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang, while being respectively based on Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Beauty from Beauty and the Beast and Goldilocks, also have elements of characters from the Wizard of Oz. Ruby is Dorothy, a NaiveNewcomer who loves her pet dog, and her name is a reference to the ruby slippers. Weiss is the Tin Man, outwardly cold and unemotional, yet grows more in touch with her feelings. Blake is the Cowardly Lion, as a CatGirl who laments her tendency to run away from problems. And Yang is the Scarecrow, as she acts like a shonen hero and rushes headlong into situations without thinking.

[[folder:Web Comics]]
* ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'' has a character state that he's "[[http://www.egscomics.com/index.php?id=1030 here to see the wizard]]", which promptly earns a reference joke.
* ''Webcomic/FruitIncest'' had one of these as a story arc centered in its own [[LevelAte Fridgeland]].
* The ''Oz arc'' of ''Webcomic/{{Roommates}}'' will also make you pity the Wizard a lot.
-->'''Jareth:''' Well, come along, Dorothy. We're off to see the Wizard and all that jazz.\\
'''James:''' ...Which one of us is Dorothy?\\
'''Erik:''' O.o\\
'''Javert:''' Not it.
* ''Webcomic/TheBlackBrickRoadOfOZ'''s story is based on ''Literature/TheWonderfulWizardOfOz'' and other books about Oz, with Dorothy arriving in her house being carried by a hurricane and going to the Good Witch of the West to return home.
* In one strip from ''Webcomic/ThePetriDish'', Thaddeus shrinks down to microscopic size and he and several microbes go to see "the great and powerful AWZ" who turns out to be another shrunken scientist whose initials are A.W.Z.
* ''Webcomic/{{Erfworld}}'' has the whole prequel book filled with characters straight from the Wizard of Oz. One of them becomes one of the most important characters in the main comic, [[spoiler: Charlie, who was literally the Wizard of Oz in that setting]].
* ''WebComic/SluggyFreelance'': Erica Henderson's GuestStrip story starts with a story about her trying to draw a different guest story and being accosted by ''Sluggy'' cultists, but the conclusion suddenly turns into an ''Oz'' parody with ''Sluggy'' creator Pete Abrams playing the role of the Wizard. More specifically, Pete pretends to be a PhysicalGod in a play of some of his previous FillerStrip appearances, but turns out to be TheManBehindTheCurtain.

* Parodied in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWgCRbRw4Fo this]] ''WebVideo/HardlyWorking'' sketch, with Sarah having this sort of dream with herself as Dorothy. Everyone else, however, complains about the characters they were cast as; David (as the Tin Man) and Pat (as the Cowardly Lion) both wanted to be the Scarecrow, while Streeter (as the Scarecrow) thinks he should be the Lion. It takes Amir (as the Wizard) to get them to accept their roles in Sarah’s dream.

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'':
** In "I Never Met the Dead Man", after accidentally knocking out the TV satellite, Peter has a dream parodying the cyclone sequence where he replaces Dorothy and the characters floating out the window are replaced by TV characters such as Series/{{ALF}}, [[Series/GilligansIsland Gilligan]], [[Series/LostInSpace the Robot]], [[Series/IDreamOfJeannie Jeannie]], and [[Series/{{Bewitched}} Samantha Stephens]].
** In "Fast Times at Buddy Cianci, Jr. High", Lois confuses the prison series ''Series/{{Oz}}'' with the film.
--->''Scrub scrub here, scrub scrub there''
--->''Whether you're white or bronze''
--->''A man can wash another man''
--->''In the merry old land of Oz''
** "And, Dorothy, you wanted herpes. But it turns out you had herpes all along!"
** Brian watches an episode of ''Series/ScarecrowAndMrsKing'', in which Scarecrow is actually the Scarecrow from the film.
** In one cutaway gag, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion are not thrilled after Dorothy says she'll miss the Scarecrow most of all.
** In a Thanksgiving episode, Peter sets up a gag calling [[spoiler:Kevin Swanson]] a UsefulNotes/BenedictArnold [[Series/DiffrentStrokes Drummond]]. The guys at the control center don't have a gag for that, so instead they show an unrelated gag in which the Cowardly Lion is Creator/LindsayLohan's gynecologist.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'' "Anthology of Interest II": Leela -- who wants to find a place where she truly belongs -- is accidentally knocked out. In the resultant dream she's Dorothy, with Fry as the Scarecrow, Bender as the Tin Man, Zoidberg as the Other Guy ("Courage, not enough of it. Need some from Whatshisname."), Mom as the Wicked Witch, Amy as the Good Witch, and the Professor as the Wizard. Funnily, it's as much a parody of the original as it is of how much of a stock plot it is. At one point, upon seeing the "Munchkins", Leela asks, "Haven't I seen you before in some copyrighted movie?"
-->'''Leela:''' There's no place like ... I wanna be a witch!
%% This is a Zero Contex example. Please do not unhide until further context has been added. * An episode of the ''Series/{{ALF}}'' cartoon show.
* ''The World's Greatest WesternAnimation/SuperFriends'' episode "The Planet of Oz": A tornado transports the Hall of Justice to Oz, where Mr. Mxyzptlk, who has once again escaped from the 5th Dimension, informs the Super Friends that they must find The Wizard to get home. Along the way they encounter the Wicked Witch of the Worst Kind in a gingerbread house. The witch turns Franchise/{{Superman}} into the Tin Man, Franchise/WonderWoman into the Cowardly Lion and ComicBook/{{Aquaman}} into the Scarecrow, since straw can't float.
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'' had a WholePlotReference to ''The Wizard of Oz'' without being an out-and-out parody, when the boys went to see the Prime Minister of Canada to get Kyle's baby brother, Ike, back.
* ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb'' did one in which Candace read the book and fell asleep, having an Oz-based dream in which (in order of appearance):
** Perry is Toto.
** The Fireside Girls are the Munchkins.
** Suzy is the Wicked Witch of the East.
** Isabella is the Good Witch.
** Doofenshmirtz is the Wicked Witch--er, Warlock of the West [[RunningGag ("It's a robe, not a dress.")]]
** Baljeet is a Scarecrow who wants to be cool.
** The (rusted) Tin Man [[DemotedToExtra is replaced]] by [[AscendedExtra Jeremy as a talking tree]].
** Buford is a cross between a Lion/Tiger/Bear ("Oh my!") and doesn't want anything in particular (though he gets a sandwich).
** The Wizard is Linda.
** Phineas and Ferb have no real role from the story, but pop up occasionally to try to [[{{Anvilicious}} show Candace how to have fun by deviating from the Yellow Sidewalk]].
* One of the ''Franchise/ScoobyDoo'' shorts from the early 1980s had a DreamSequence in which Shaggy was the Scarecrow, Scrappy was the Tin Man and Scooby was the Cowardly Lion. Daphne was absent in this period, so Dorothy wasn't represented.
* Occurs in an episode of ''WesternAnimation/{{Beetlejuice}}'' with BJ as the Scarecrow, Jacques as the Tin Man, The Monster From Down The Street as the Cowardly Lion, and Lydia as Dorothy.
* ''WesternAnimation/EarthwormJim'' did this in "Wizard of Ooze", casting Jim and Peter Puppy in the roles of Dorothy and Toto. In the Scarecrow's place, Walter plays the Fat Lad (who wants dental floss to alleviate his horrible tooth hygiene); the Tin Man is the Grim Reaper (he wants frozen yogurt, as the humans he takes get to try it and he doesn't); and Hamstinator plays the Brave Hamster in lieu of the Cowardly Lion (he is so brave he cannot resist putting himself in danger, so he wants "a reasonable dose of fear"). The Wicked Witch of the West, predictably enough, is Queen Slug-for-a-Butt, while Princess What's-Her-Name is the Good Witch, Mrs. Bleveredge is the Wicked Witch of the East (from whom Jim swipes a pair of sapphire toe socks instead of ruby slippers) and Professor Monkey-for-a-Head plays one of the Flying Monkeys (in fact, he's the only one). The episode even sneaks in a parody of ''Film/TheSeventhSeal'' when the Professor invokes ChessWithDeath. And the Wizard? [[spoiler:a suitless Jim!]]
* WesternAnimation/BugsBunny, of all people, likes to do Wizard impressions in ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures''. He's got a giant talking head set up in his office in at least two episodes. The second of these, "The Learning Principal" (part of "[[Recap/TinyToonAdventuresS1E42LooniversityDaze Looniversity Daze]]"), has Bugs copping to his inspiration when Buster (who didn't know Bugs was the principal) unmasks him. "Well, it worked in ''The Wizard of Oz''."
** Also from ''Tiny Toon Adventures'', in "[[BirthdayEpisode Happy Birthday Hamton]]" (part of "[[Recap/TinyToonAdventuresS2E5PlaytimeToons Playtime Toons]]"), Buster, Babs, and Plucky sing a parody of "We're off to See the Wizard" on their way to the toy store to buy presents for Hamton.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Arthur}}'' had one in which D.W. had a dream in which Arthur was more-or-less the wicked witch and the Tibble twins were the cowardly lion. Arthur teased her, shouting her full name as a chanting taunt: "Dora Winifred! Dora Winifred!" (This was after they had had an argument in real life and he sent her off crying to bed by declaring, "Well, you know what you are? You wanna know what you ''really'' are? You're such a... you're such a... Dora Winifred!")
* This appears in the ''WesternAnimation/MuppetBabies1984'' episode "By the Book" along with parodies of Myth/RobinHood and ''Literature/PeterPan''. Piggy and Rowlf get the Dorothy and Toto roles, Scooter is Glinda [[note]] yes, Scooter, since Skeeter is not interested in books and doesn't play along with this [[/note]], Kermit is the Scarecrow, Fozzie is the Cowardly Lion, and Gonzo is the Tin Man (again, presaging how these three characters were used in ''Film/TheMuppetsWizardOfOz''). Bunsen plays the Wizard, with Beaker as his assistant, and tries to send everyone home in a hot-air balloon, only for it to be attacked by Animal as the (unseen) Wicked Witch's flying monkey.
* ''WesternAnimation/MagicAdventuresOfMumfie'' has a few similarities to The Wizard of Oz-first off, there is a scarecrow, a character who wants to return home like Dorothy did (Pinkey), a powerful ruler, a scary villain, and a magic item the character has to keep safe like the ruby slippers (in this case, it was a jewel).
* ''WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButtHead'': A tornado blows away a pair of trailer park girls B&B were maybe almost going to score with, and they end up in Oz, where the Munchkins react with "Uhh, huh huh!" laughter.
* ''WesternAnimation/BlackDynamite'''s special hour-long musical episode ''"The Wizard of Watts" or "Oz Ain't Got S&@# On The Wiz"'' does this with Film/TheWiz. Black Dynamite is Dorothy, Creamcorn is the Scarecrow, Honey Bee is a [[Film/{{Spaceballs}} Dot Matrix]] inspired Tin Woman, and Bullhorn is the Cowardly Lion. Additionally, Basehead appears as a "Flying Junkie", the Witch role is fulfilled by CorruptCop "The Wicked Bitch of the West Side" [[note]]His police brutality being caught on tape taking the place of a bucket of water[[/note]], and the Wizard role is given to Magic Johnson, though the man behind the curtain is actually Donald Sterling.
* ''WesternAnimation/HelloKittysFurryTaleTheater'' did this with the story "Wizard of Paws."
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'' does this with the episode "No Place Like Home" with Susie falling asleep before her tonsillectomy and having a dream with her as Dorothy and Spike as Toto.
** Three years later, they released a video game, "Rugrats Munchin Land", with Kimi in the role of Dorothy, Dil in the role of gatekeeper and Susie in the role of Glinda.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheJackson5ive'' cartoon show of the 1970s did an episode like this. Michael was Dorothy, Tito was the Scarecrow, Marlon was the Tin Man, Jermaine was the Cowardly Lion (who's afraid of his own bass) and Jackie was the Wizard.
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddysBigPictureShow'' is partially a send up of the Wizard of Oz. The titular trio travel to the city to see a man that will solve their problems and along the way they gain the things they needed; for Ed, a brain (he uses a door to beat [[spoiler:Eddy's brother]] instead of his own strength), for Double D, a spine (he stands up to Eddy's cruel joke and [[spoiler:Eddy's brother for beating on Eddy]]), and for Eddy, a heart (he finally admits his guilt and takes the blame for his actions and attitude). By doing this, they earn a happy ending for themselves.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePinkPanther'' had an episode titled: ''The Detective of Oz''. The episode involves the Pink Panther as a private eye in the Emerald City helping a wicked witch retrieve the Ruby Slippers from Dorothy. Towards the end of the episode, [[spoiler:it is revealed that the Dorothy we have seen was actually an impostor, and the wicked witch was the real Dorothy]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheCompletelyMentalMisadventuresOfEdGrimley'' had an episode called ''Blowin' in the Wind'' which [[PlayedWith plays]] with this trope. While the episode has Ed getting sucked up by a tornado, he winds up in Kansas instead of Oz. From there, Ed meets Aunt Em, Uncle Henry, Hunk, Zeke, Hickory, and Miss Gulch. [[spoiler:Ed does meet Dorothy at the end, though.]]
* An episode of ''WesternAnimation/YogisSpaceRace'' involves the Space Racers winding up in the land of Oz after they were swept up by a space tornado.
* There was an episode of ''WesternAnimation/TheJetsons'' called ''Elroy in Wonderland''. [[note]] Despite the name of episode, this has more in common with ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' than ''WesternAnimation/AliceInWonderland''. [[/note]] The episode involves Elroy and Astro winding up in an Oz-like world inhabited by antique robots. During their journey, Elroy and Astro meet three robots who sound a lot like [[AndYouWereThere George, Jane and Judy]].
* An episode of ''ComicBook/WalterMelon'' has Walter and his friend Bitterbug take on the roles of the Tin Man and Scarecrow after the latter duo had a house land on top of them by the Wicked Witch of the West.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Animaniacs}}'' had an episode called ''Buttons in Ows'', which has Buttons, Mindy and Toto having an adventure in Oz. Once they meet the Wizard himself, [[spoiler:[[TheManBehindTheCurtain it turns out that he was actually]] [[WesternAnimation/PinkyAndTheBrain The Brain]] [[TheManBehindTheCurtain in disguise]]]].
* ''[[ComicStrip/{{Popeye}} The All-New Popeye Hour]]'' had an episode where Popeye, Olive Oyl and Eugene the Jeep end up in the Land of Odd. In order to get back home, the trio must find the Ruby Slippers, before the Wicked Warlock of the West [Bluto] catches them.
* In one ''WesternAnimation/RobotChicken'' sketch the Nerd ends up dreaming that he's in the Wizard of Oz. Soon he realizes that this is ''his'' dream and he can make it as awesome as he wants, and turns the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion into Comicbook/TheCrow, [[Franchise/{{Transformers}} Optimus Prime]], and [[WesternAnimation/{{ThunderCats|1985}} Lion-O]] respectively. They end up going to beat up the witch themselves, culminating on all of them ([[ArtisticLicenseBiology yes, even the robot]]) peeing on her to melt her. The Nerd then manipulates the dream one last time to get them all on a beach with topless French models.
-->'''Everyone:''' French boobies!
* In the ''WesternAnimation/DennisTheMenace'' episode "The Wizzer of Odd", after being read the story of ''The Wizard of Oz'' on a stormy night, Dennis has a dream where a tornado sends him and Ruff to "Munchville". There, Dennis meets the Scaredy Cat ([=PeeBee=]), the Tin Kid (Gina), and the Cowardly Lion (Joey). Margaret takes on the role of the Wicked Witch, who imprisons Dennis and his friends for eating her gingerbread castle, [[NotHisSled which melts during a rainstorm rather than her]]. Mr. Wilson takes on the role of The Wizzer, who grants Dennis and his friends their wishes.
* The aptly-named "We're Off to See the Lizard" episode of ''WesternAnimation/{{Dinosaucers}}'', wherein Secret Scout Sarah has a dream about going to see the Dinosorceror of Reptilon, with Allo as Scarecrow, Tricero as the Tin-Man, Stego as Cowardly Lion, and one of the little furball aliens as Toto. Princess Dei opposes them as the Witch.
* ''WesternAnimation/VeggieTales'' brings us ''The Wonderful Wizard of Ha's'', combining the Wizard of Oz with the parable of The Prodigal Son. Junior Asparagus (or rather, [[Film/DarbyOGillAndTheLittlePeople Darby O'Gill]] for some reason) and his dog Tutu leave his father's Kansas farm in search of adventure in the Land of Ha's, by following Old Yellow [=McToad=]. It turns out that the Wizard of Ha's is a con man who is just out to take people's money for his amusement park, and Junior was better off at his father's home.
* The ''WesternAnimation/GarbagePailKidsCartoon'' episode "The Land of Odd" had Split Kit, Patty Putty and Clogged Duane sent to another world by a twister, afterwards they journey with a girl named Dotty and her friends Fraidy Cat, Tin Kid and Scarecrow to defeat Haggy Maggie and ask the Wizard of Odd to help them find their way home.
* ''WesternAnimation/MickeyMouseClubhouse'' has the "Wizard of Dizz" episode, wherein Minnie plays the role of Dorothy, Pluto as Toto, Clarabelle as the Good Witch, Goofy as the Scarecrow, Mickey as the Tin Man, Donald as the Cowardly Lion, Pete as the Wicked Witch of the West (though he isn't called a warlock, oddly enough) and Ludwig von Drake as the titular Wizard.
