->Robot 1-X: How may I help you?\\
Bender: Save my friends! And Zoidberg!
-->-- , "Obsoletely Fabulous"

A standard comedy trope which, at its core, takes the form:

"Group A... and Bob."

It is often expanded to mention two or more groups that form a supergroup:

"Ladies, Gentlemen... Bob."

In either version, Bob is already expected to be among the group(s) in question, but is singled out as if he's not, usually at Bob's expense; "Bob" may be anyone, including the ButtMonkey or an s. In extreme cases, the group will be received with cheers, and the name of Bob will be received by ChirpingCrickets.

This can be PlayedForLaughs in cases where it's literally impossible for Bob not to be a member of the groups mentioned.

It can also be used to deliver a StealthInsult: "We welcome members of all benevolent professions, as well as lawyers." Or, inverted, it can even deliver a compliment: "You morons, and Bob."

ProtagonistAndFriends is a SubTrope, in which this and CharacterTitle collide. Compare: AndTheRest, SnubByOmission, BaitAndSwitchComparison, ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne, GuiltByAssociationGag, LadiesAndGerms, and InsultToRocks. Compare and Contrast EspeciallyZoidberg.

* An incident in Manga/LuckyStar, where Konata greets the Hiiragi twins with "Tsukasa-tachi", leading Kagami to complain about not being mentioned by name. (It should be noted that Konata and Kagami being best friends (for a given value of 'best'), or more according to many fans, this snub will have been entirely intentional on Konata's part.)
* Anime/MazingerZ: Hilariously inverted every time the villains told a sentence along the lines of "Go ahead! Finish with Mazinger-Z... and the other two robots!". The other two robots being Aphrodite-A (or Diana-A) and Boss Borot.
* The Battle City arc of Anime/YuGiOh features a scene with Seto Kaiba in a single turn summoning all three of his Blue-Eyes White Dragons...and Hyozanryu.

* Natsu of Manga/FairyTail and anyone who doesn't go on missions with him likes to say either "It's Natsu's group...plus Happy" or "Fairy Tail's strongest team...and Lucy" Lucy and Happy even do it. Only Gray seems kind enough not to.
* LightNovel/BakaToTestToShoukanjuu: At the bathhouse, there are three changing rooms: men's, women's, and Hideyoshi's.
* In the character Izaya Orihara claims to love all human beings. Except Shizuo Heiwajima.

-->Garterbelt: Ladies and Panty...
* Anime/AngelBeats has Naoi, who insists on calling the entire SSS a group of idiots. Except for the wise and benevolent Otonashi, of course!
* Manga/OnePiece
** Inverted in Sanji's case. Whenever he gets separated from the others, he worries only about the ladies of the crew, and always wants to assist them first. And cares little to not about the other guys.
--->Sanji: Hello! Nami, and Vivi! And the rest...
** When Usopp left the crew during the Waters Seven arc, addressing members of the crew tended to be tailed with something along the lines of "And Usopp, I guess".
* Manga/SgtFrog has a variation when Fuyuki sees a UFO crash into his house.
-->Fuyuki: Mom! Sis! And to lesser degree, Sarge!
* In the anime version of Manga/MagicKnightRayearth, as the Magic Knights reflect on the foes they have faced, none of them mention Innouva even once, despite his defeat in the previous episode.
* The non-Cure main characters are usually referred as extra characters: "Pretty Cure and Shiny Luminous." "[[Anime/YesPrettyCure5GoGo Pretty Cure [5] and Milky Rose]]."
* :
** Kyoutarou, TheOneGuy of the Kiyosumi mahjong club and by far its worst player, tends to get this from time to time. In the anime, Hisa tells Mako that she locked the three first-years out of the mahjong club room so that Yuuki would be able to study for her exam retake. Mako reminds Hisa that there are four first-years, and Hisa mentions that Kyoutarou is, as usual, doing the heavy lifting for the club.
** The trope is lampshaded to an extent when Tsuruga talks about being invited, along with Kazekoshi and Ryuumonbuchi, to help Kiyosumi prepare for the nationals after their victory in the prefectural tournament. Yumi suspects that Kiyosumi's team wants to practice against Kazekoshi and Ryuumonbuchi, both of whom have been to the nationals before, more than they want to practice against the relative underdog Tsuruga, but sees it as a mutually beneficial arrangement.
--->Yumi: I can understand wanting to play strong opponents in preparation for going up against the monsters at the nationals. Ryuumonbuchi and Kazekoshi from the prefectural finals at least are national-level teams.\\
Satomi: Wa-ha-ha. So we're just the extra?\\
Yumi: [smiles] Kiyosumi isn't trying to be mean. And it doesn't sound half bad to me.

It's really more of his way of un-subtly insulting Owlman (his universe's version of Batman) as having little purpose in the Crime Syndicate. Ultraman and Owlman tend to make remarks like this all the time.
-->"Say your goodbyes. Only a few seconds left before the strongest among you- and Batman- find yourselves on our world. We'll kill the others slowly."

Dad: And you.
* The French movie Les Garçons et Guillaume, à table! has one right in the title ("Boys! William! Dinner's ready!"). The main character (Guillaume) spent most of his childhood acting like a girl, due to his mother acting as the title implies.
* Film/TheFaultInOurStars: Mr. Lancaster's airport sign reads MY BEAUTIFUL FAMILY (AND GUS).
* A comical variant in the OpeningChorus of Film/TheGreatMuppetCaper:
-->Chorus: "There's going to be a movie, starring everybody..."
-->Fozzie: "...And me!"
* Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2014:
** The film's tagline is: "The Leader. The Brains. The Attitude. And Mikey."
** Also in the movie, Mikey keeps forgetting Vernon's name and keeps calling him "Other guy."
--> Michelangelo: "They're gone... Leo... April... that other guy..."

* In the Literature/Animorphs books, all of the blurbs on the back cover described the adventures of "X (the main character of that particular installment), the Animorphs, and Ax," with the subtle implication that, being an alien (and a SixthRanger), Ax didn't really count. It may be a reference to the fact that they came up with the term "Animorph" to refer to each other before Ax joined, but still...
** The reasoning may be that Ax didn't join the team when he first showed up--first they were all trying to get him back with the Andalites, and then there were a few books that sort of played with the fact that neither he nor the others really trusted each other completely. Still, even WordOfGod once noted that they should have changed it at some point. (They do near the very end of the series, IIRC.)
** The comedic version was also done, where Rachel demanded the Helmacrons free "my friends...and Marco, too..."
* In Literature/TheGunsOfTheSouth by Creator/HarryTurtledove, UsefulNotes/AbrahamLincoln sends three negotiators to a meeting with the Confederate States, including Ben Butler - incredibly unpopular in the DeepSouth for his actions in New Orleans, so a calculated insult. Robert E Lee refers to them as "the gentlemen and Mr. Butler".
* In "Pretty in Pink" by Rachel Maude, Seedy Moon is about to give a speech at his engagement party to "friends, family, and Tila Tequila" .
* From Literature/HarryPotterAndThePrisonerOfAzkaban, Oliver Wood does it to himself, when he lists the members of the Quidditch team: "We've got three superb Chasers. We've got two unbeatable Beaters. And we've got a Seeker who has never failed to win us a match! (after long pause in which he realizes he's forgotten someone) And me." In an tedTropesion to this trope, the other players are quick to tell Wood that they think he's very good, too.
** Professors Vector and Sinistra who only ever get briefly mentioned in passing; which is quite funny considering every other teacher at Hogwarts either has a critical role in the war against Voldemort or is otherwise given at least a couple of prominent scenes. The former barely appears due to Harry not taking her class, while the only important scene featuring Sinistra's class takes place during a standardized exam that she is not involved in.
* In , it's mentioned that the Watch "appears to include at least one of every known bipedal sapient species, plus one Nobby Nobbs".
** There's a running joke in the series that Nobby carries a certificate from the Patrician to prove that he's human. He's the only member of the Watch who carries one; he's the only member of the Watch who needs to, everyone else being either obviously human (including some who aren't, either biologically (Angua, who is a werewolf) or culturally (Carrot, who insists that he is a six-foot-something dwarf)) or obviously not human (various dwarfs, trolls, at least one gnome/pictsie, etc.).
* Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog)?
* Literature/TheDevilsDictionary defines man as an animal that "infests most of the habitable Earth and Canada".
* In Creator/Daniel Pinkwater's The Last Guru, protagonist Harold Blatz at once point mails a certificate to "every man, woman, and child in the civilized world and Iceland."
* The protagonist in one of the books in the Literature/KarlssonOnTheRoof" series adresses his audience repeatedly as "my friends - and Kirre" - the latter being the greedy one.
* In Literature/ASongOFIceAndFire, the people in the Riverlands are of nominal importance, the Riverlands aren't even considered one of the Seven realms, it was fought over by the realms, till it was conquered by the Ironborn of the Iron Islands. House Tully barely gets mentioned in Roberts Rebellion, as they joined by two political marriages from House Stark and House Arryn.

* In Series/DowntonAbbey, every time all of the servants are called up to the main hall, Daisy asks, "and me?" or prepares to go up, to which the response is invariably some version of "No Daisy, not you." This was dropped in Season 3, as Daisy
* In Series/CougarTown: "I thought it wouldn't be so bad to spend this day with a few friends. Plus, Ellie is here."
* Series/TheBasilBrushShow Has this comic line whilst Basil is reading a goodbye note from his Cousin Mortimer, his arch enemy.

-->Freddie: Hello, ladies. Or should I say lady and Sam.\\

** Brain Guy does a backpedaling variation of this trope during the episode when he yells at Pearls and Bobo.
--->Brain Guy:"Listen, you IDIOTS! ...And, Pearl, you, of course, too.
** On another episode, Tom Servo takes the joke to the logical extreme, naming everyone present, including himself.
--->Servo: Gentlemen and Gypsy. And Mike. And Crow. And Servo...
** One of the fan letters read on the air starts with "Dear Gentlemen and Gypsy..." This is justified, because Gypsy has a female personality.
* In an episode of Music/SClub7 in Miami (aka Miami 7), Rachel reports the death of many people during a hurricane, including several talented artists and Bradley [=MacIntosh=].
* Josh from Series/MyParentsAreAliens is a victim of this. One example being in the Series 6 episode, "The Alienist", where Brian gives a speech on alien rights.
-->Brian: "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, carbon and silicon-based organisms, Josh."
* Series/TheBigBangTheory:
** Leslie has done this several times in reference to her nemesis Sheldon: "Hello, fellow scientists. Sheldon."
** Howard gets this a lot because he doesn't have a Ph.D unlike the others. Usually from Sheldon.
--->Sheldon: And then one day, she meets a group of geniuses, and their friend Howard.
** The dean of the university isn't much better.
--->Dr. Gabelhauser: Hello, Doctor Hofstadter ... Doctor Cooper ... Doctor Koothrappali ... and [smirks] Mister Wolowitz.
** They also like to conveniently ignore him when he brings up the fact that as an engineer he doesn't really need a doctorate to go as far as he can in his chosen profession. Case in point: Of the main cast he gets to build and operate Mars rovers, work with science icons like StephenHawking, and even go into space as an astronaut. It's because his skills are far more in demand on an everyday basis.
** One episode Sheldon even goes as far as to refer to the main cast as his three best friends and a "treasured acquaintance". They were unsure which of them was the acquaintance until he returned at the end of the episodeIt was Howard, though other episodes has him acknowledge that all four are his friends..
* Series/HowIMetYourMother: "Ladies. Gentlemen. Ted."
* Series/AllInTheFamily used a variant in "California, Here We Are." Visiting Mike and Gloria over the holidays, Archie and Edith discover the Stivics are separated and that Gloria has been seeing another married man:
-->Archie: How could you do a thing like this to your family? [points at Mike] And him...
* Series/Wings: An episode wherein Fay, gathered with the whole group to console and help someone, assures the person that he is surrounded by nice, compassionate friends who care for his well-being. And Roy.
* Series/TheMaryTylerMooreShow: After a disastrous poker game, Lou Grant informs Mary, "Well Mary, there's something you have to remember about poker. It doesn't matter if you win or lose. It's being involved in a group activity with people you like. And Baxter."
* Series/TheYoungOnes:
-->Vyvyan: Mum, this is a friend of mine called Mike, this is a friend of mine called Neil, and this is a total bastard I know named Rik.'
* :
** Dr. Cox makes use of this trope in the episode "My Last Day" while listing things he cares as little about as his and JD's last week together:
--->Dr. Cox: ...everything on the planet, everything in the solar system, everything everything everything everything everything everything everything that exists - past, present and future, in all discovered and undiscovered dimensions. Oh! And Creator/Jackman Jackman.
** Highlighting Dr. Kelso's increasing laziness, he didn't bother learning interns' names.
---> Kelso: Listen up, faces, in order to save us all some time time I will call all the males "Daves" and all the females "Debbies".\\
Debbie: "Debbie"'s actually my name!\\
Kelso: Then out of fairness to the others you will be "Slagathor". Daves, Debbies, Slagathor, I will be in my office; if you need anything feel free to bother Dorian.
* From the phone book episode of Series/MythBusters.
-->Narrator: Nine muscled Mythbusters, and Adam.

--> Donna: This photo's just with friends...friends...and Nerys.
* Series/RulesOfEngagement:
** Audrey has been known to do this.
---> Audrey: I'd like to share it with all my friends. And Russell.
** The second time, Audrey got mad at Jeff for not supporting her in front of her friends. And Russell.

* During the Dean Martin Roast of Michael Landon, Lorne Greene delivered the following line: "Ladies, gentlemen...and DonRickles..."
* Series/StarTrekVoyager: The Doctor makes a lot of these types of jokes at Tom Paris's expense.
** In the opening of "Year of Hell Part 1", the Doctor is moved to a speech that delivers one of these from out of nowhere.
--->"Who would have thought this group of voyagers could actually become a family: Starfleet, Maquis, Klingon, Tallaxian, Hologram, Borg, even Mr. Paris."Being a dishonorably discharged convict at the beginning of the series, it's true that Tom Paris technically isn't with Starfleet...but that's sure not what the Doctor's delivery is implying.
** In another early episode, the Doctor was discussing with Kes his problems: he was built as an emergency software for special cases and now has to be available 24 hours a day, everyone treats him as he did not even exist, nobody tells him what's going on, nobody remembers to shut hm when leaving, he has nobody to assist him... Kes pointed that Paris was assigned to be his nurse. "Like I said, nobody to assist me".
** In "Living Witness", the Doctor wakes up in the future to find that the historians of that era have painted a rather unflattering picture of their ancestors' run-in with the Voyager crew, and depicted them all like evil, violent lunatics. When he protests this, he follows it up by singling out Paris as not having been that different in real life from the way he's portrayed in the recreation (which is more cocky than evil).
* Series/Glee 2x13:
--> Will: All right, guys and gals! And Sue.

* In Music/TheBeatles fandom and lore, Music/RingoStarr often is treated this way -- sometimes seriously, sometimes jokingly, depending on the period. Part of this is Ringo's own doing: unlike Music/JohnLennon and Music/PaulMcCartney, who had, let's say, healthy egos, and Music/GeorgeHarrison, who was TheQuietOne, Ringo loved Self-Deprecating Humor. He liked to joke that he was actually an awful drummer who was riding the others' coattails; his bandmates, on the other hand, have all said his skills are second to none. Well, or something like that. Also, Ringo was the last Beatle to get his own Wiki/TVTropes page.
** Being a drummer doesn't help, either. Drummers in general are often the butt of a lot of jokes about musicians. For example: "What do you call a guy who hangs out with musicians all day?"
** Pete Best's lack of desire to be friends with the group offstage is a big part of the reason he was replaced by Ringo.
** [=McCartney=] carried this into his post-Beatles career: the liner notes of Band on the Run state that "Paul would like to thank Linda/And Linda would like to thank Paul/And thanx Denny" (that being Laine, the only non-[=McCartney=] member of Wings on the album).
* In the Music/TheyMightBeGiants song, The Mesopotamians, the fictional band is made up of Sargon, Hammurabi, Ashurbanipal and Gilgamesh. Poor old Gilgamesh's name is covered by the chorus nearly every time by the end of the song. Oddly, the song was supposed to be a parallel of The Might Be Giant's start. Make of that what you will.
* Machine Head had a pretty lulzy one at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards where they thanked all the awesome bands on Roadrunner...and .
* On Showbread's tour supporting their album No Sir, Nihilism Is Not Practical, they were the headlining band, with two metal bands opening for them. Showbread's frontman, Josh Dies, referred to the tour several times as "the Monsters of Metal Tour...and Showbread".
* The Axis of Awesome sometimes introduce themselves in this manner:
-->Jordan: Good evening everyone, I'm Jordan.\\
Lee: I'm Lee.\\
Benny: And I'm...\\
Jordan & Lee: We are the Axis of Awesome.\\
Benny: ...And I'm Benny.
* Music/TenaciousD manage to pull it off constantly ...in a duo! They are Creator/JackBlack. And K.G.
* This is how Music/TheB52s have been since the Cosmic Thing period, where the core four members (and on Good Stuff, three) are always considered the group, and the rest of the backing band (bassist, drummer and keyboardist) are rarely mentioned, except live when its necessary to introduce them. This backing band doesn't have an input into the songwriting process by all accounts.
* The Music/VelvetUnderground managed to pull this off with their first album which featured singer Music/Nico on some tracks. The album's title: Music/TheVelvetUndergroundAndNico.
* The new Music/StoneTemplePilots line-up is now officially referred to as Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington.
* This is how Music/Nile has treated almost every bassist since Jon Vesano. Todd Ellis has at least been made a full-time member, but promo photos still show only Karl, Dallas, and George, and the former two have recorded the bass tracks on every album since Annihilation of the Wicked. Most of the bassists they've had since Vesano have been live session players, and most of them wind up joining Lecherous Nocturne when they're finished.

* Wrestling/MickFoley did this all the time to prank his friend Wrestling/AlSnow. When he "retired", he was presented with the original WWF Hardcore Championship by a lot of the other extreme wrestlers. In his farewell speech, he said "It's an honor to be in the ring with so many hardcore legends. And Al Snow!" On another occasion, he managed to convince a pilot to announce after a landing "Welcome to all the WWF Superstars...and Al Snow."
** Mick also used a non-insulting version in his book, about one of his indy matches. "I was busted wide open in fromt of 25 hardcore wrestling fans and my wife's sister"
* On the October 29, 2012 edition of Raw, Wrestling/PaulHeyman addressed the crowd as, "Ladies, gentlemen, and the people of Charlotte."
* Then there's the fact that, for legal reasons concerning its (mostly) scripted nature, pro wrestling isn't actually a sport. Also, wrestlers aren't allowed to join SAG-AFTRAthe union formed by the 2012 merger of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists for similar reasonsunless they act in non-wrestling productions, with the most notable example being Wrestling/DwayneJohnson, so they get this from two sides. Japanese pro wrestling famously toys with the ordeal, as while it is not widely considered a kakutogi (combat sport), most of the Japanese media which covers combat sports inevitably has pro wrestling among them and sometimes presented as the main one. And finally, Mexico prefers to consider pro wrestling as pro wrestling, separated both from sport and acting.

* If the trope had been used straight at the time, these biblical examples would have been inversions:
** In Mark 16:7, an angel tells the ladies visiting Jesus' (empty) tomb to "tell his disciples and Peter" to meet up in Galilee. This is an inversion of the trope: Peter had denied Jesus three times a couple days before, so the angel is specifying that he should be included among the Disciples.
** In the Old Testament, the Bible mentions that Solomon had seven hundred wives, "and Pharaoh's daughter." This acts as an tedTropesion according to many commentators, who note that she's singled out because Solomon loved her much more than the others.
** Played straight in Luke 7:29: "When all the people and the tax collectors heard this..."
* In Literature/TheQuran, the verse 98 of the second surat says " Whosoever is an enemy unto Allah and His angels and His apostles and Jibril and Mikail arab names of Gabriel and Michael, then verily Allah is an enemy unto the infidels." According to commentators, Jibril and Mikail are apart because they are the most important angels.

* Several NASCAR examples:
** Before a NASCAR race in the mid-90s, the person giving the command at the start of the race did it as "Gentlemen, and Jimmy Spencer, start your engines!"
** Matt Martin before the 2nd race of the 2005 Gatorade Duel: "Gentlemen, and Dad (Mark Martin), start your engines!"
** The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is comprised of common men...and Danica Patrick.
* UsefulNotes/Pittsburgh has become known in recent years as "the city of Champions...and the Pirates" in light of their baseball team setting a record for consecutive losing seasons, while the Penguins and Steelers have won multiple championships.
* It is sometimes said that UsefulNotes/NewYorkCity is home to six professional sports teams... and the Mets (some version of this joke replace them with the Knicks, depending on how the teams are doing at any given time).
* In UsefulNotes/Basketball:
** The 1992 Dream Team is remembered for being composed of 11 Hall of Famers... and Christian Laettner.
** During the 2010 NBA Basketball Hall of Fame induction, Larry Bird came to the pedestal and said that the team was "a cast of characters and different personalities...then Charles Barkley"
*** Even one of the Hall of Famers, John Stockton got this. There is home video of Stockton, getting off the team bus in the middle of traffic, and walking into the crowd with nary a person realizing who he was. He even talked to a woman who had a picture of his face on her shirt (it was a team picture printed on a t-shirt) and had no idea who she was talking to until his son flat out told her.
** What was originally supposed to be a respected Miami Heat trio ended up being more known as the ultimate Miami duo of Dwyane Wade and [=LeBron=] James...and Chris Bosh.
* There seems to be an inverted version of this when it comes to stereotypes of nations "apathetic" to soccer, in the saying that, "The only people that hate TheBeautifulGame are HateTingle...and Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, and some Irish." This is also true when it comes to stereotypes of nations referring the sport as soccer.
* Happens in UsefulNotes/IceHockey quite a bit:
** The UsefulNotes/NationalHockeyLeague, or rather, the entire sport of UsefulNotes/IceHockey, considering it is the least popular of the "Big Four" American and Canadian Team Sports Due to among other things, the sport’s difficulty in appealing to the Southern United States considering that there is little to no snow in those areas and hockey is obviously popular in places where it snows in the winter., gets this quite a bit as some detractors will even omit Hockey from its major league status. Here, the group of leagues would be referred to as: "The Big Three Sports...and Hockey."\\
\\
This happens more frequently the more south you go (in which Hockey is cropped out entirely or replaced with NASCAR). Don't say this the farther north you go though, especially in Canada.
*** In markets where hockey has a huge following (Canada, Michigan, Minnesota, New England, etc) basketball usually fits this trope. For a while, the Minnesota Timberwolves could only be heard on a 9,100K watt station that only reached the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities. The Minnesota Wild on the other hand, were on 50,000 watt WCCO.
*** When Hockey is not getting this, it's usually Canadian Football Due to the (at least perceived) skill and popularity disparity between the Canadian and American counterparts. or Soccer For those familiar with the above example, this is unsurprising, although some would argue that being a "Zoidberg" is at least progress for Soccer in North America, as really obscure and unpopular sports would not even be considered.
** In Canada the line that opens a CBC hockey broadcast is: "Hello Canada and hockey fans in the United States and Newfoundland...". This is not exactly an example, as when the line was recorded (the 1930's) Newfoundland wasn't a Canadian province, but another of the self-governing dominions of the British Empire.
** Conn Smythe began many a public speech with, "Ladies, gentlemen... and Frenchmen."
* During 2011 and the first half of the 2012 Tennis season, it was common for pundits to say that the greatest players were unquestionably Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal...and Andy Murray, "the other guy" who was unquestionably better than anyone who wasn't Djokovic, Federer, or Nadal but unquestionably overshadowed by them nonetheless. It wasn't until the latter half of 2012 that Murray began breaking out of his "that Tennis player most likely to fill the last spot of a semifinals after Djokovic, Federer and Nadal show up for their reservations" role.
** However, at the end of 2012, Andy Murray took a level in badass and became the first Brit to win a Grand Slam in 75 years. However, Rafael Nadal dropped out of the 2013 Australian Open and thus out of the top 4 for the first time since 2005. The Top 5 players in Men's Tennis is therefore composed of: The Big Four...and David Ferrer.
** The 36 men's Grand Slam singles titles between the 2005 French Open and 2013 US Open were won by the Big Four...and Juan Martín del Potro (US Open, 2009).2014 may or may not have signaled a changing of the guard. While Nadal won the French Open and Djoker won Wimbledon, the Aussie Open was won by Stan Wawrinka and the US Open by Marin Čilić.
* The National Collegiate Athletic Association is the primary college-level in the US, comprising of nearly every major and minor college and university in the United States... and Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
* Examples abound in NCAA Division I conferences. (All affiliations are current for the 2014–15 school year.)
** The current Big East Conferencenot to be confused with the original Big East, founded in 1979 and split in 2013 along football lines, with the seven schools that didn't play top-level football leaving to form a new Big East and the football schools reorganizing as the American Athletic Conference has 10 full members, consisting of nine Catholic institutions and Butler University, a private but nonsectarian school.
** Several conferences consist entirely of public schools except for one private institution (counting only full members):
*** Big Ten Conference: 13 public schools and Northwestern.
*** Southeastern Conference: 13 public schools and Vanderbilt.
*** Conference USA: 13 public schools and Rice.Charlotte (public) is a full member, but its recently launched football team won't join until 2015.
*** Ohio Valley Conference (which plays football in the second-level FCS): 11 public schools and Belmont. Only nine of the 12 members play football in the OVC. Belmont has no football team.
*** America East Conference (a non-football conference): 9 public schools and Hartford.
** Conversely, two conferences, both of which play FCS football, would consist entirely of private institutions but for one public school:
*** Northeast Conference: 9 private schools and Central Connecticut State.
*** Pioneer Football League (a football-only league): 10 private schools and Morehead State. The PFL is made up of schools that offer scholarships in sports other than football, but wish to avoid the expense of scholarships for a football program. Morehead State is a member of the aforementioned Ohio Valley Conference.
** The Big West Conference, which began as a football-sponsoring league but dropped the sport after the 2000 season, demonstrates this trope in two different ways:
*** The conference's current membership consists of eight California schools and the University of Hawaii.
*** More than 20 schools have been members of the conference, either in all sports or for football only, since it was founded as the Pacific Coast Athletic Association in 1969. Every one is a public institution except for the University of the Pacific, a historically Methodist school but now officially nonsectarian. It was a founding member for football only and joined in other sports in 1971, but left in 2013 to return to its former home of the West Coast Conference.
** The Horizon League (also a non-football conference) consists of eight schools that were once in The Summit League... and Detroit.
** The West Coast Conference (also non-football):
*** For over 30 years (1980–2011), it consisted of seven Catholic institutions and Pepperdine University, affiliated with the Churches of Christ.
*** Then averted when BYU joined.
*** Returned in a slightly different form in 2013, when the aforementioned Pacific rejoined—the WCC now has nine faith-based institutions and one officially nonsectarian school.
** There are 24 [=HBCUs=] (historically black colleges and universities) in Division I; all of them are full members of FCS conferences (two don't have varsity football teams). All of these schools are members of one of two conferences whose membership consists entirely of [=HBCUs=]the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and Southwestern Athletic Conference... except Tennessee State.in the Ohio Valley Conference

* VideoGame/RatchetAndClankUpYourArsenal: "Ladies and gentlemen...oh, and Helga." This is not exactly an insult, however, as Helga seems much cheerier after the addendum.
** It's because Helga IS neither. She's a robot, and hence, genderless, even if she's modeled after a female.
** It's likely that this is an objection on her part to Qwark's usage of "ladies" (as Helga is hardly lady material) rather than a reference to her being a robot. She identifies as female and is referred to as a female. Note that, despite being present at the time, Clank wasn't excluded like she was.

* WesternAnimation/Futurama:
** The s, Bender's plea to Robot 1-X that he "Save my friends! And Zoidberg!" Over the course of the show, the writers have been trying to develop Zoidberg to have occasional bouts of heroic moments, in which he averts his own trope!
** Zoidberg later returned the insult, referring to Leela, Fry, and Bender as "my friends and the robot."
** Zoidberg even Zoidbergs himself:
--->Fry: Everyone we invited is here.\\
Zoidberg: Also Zoidberg!
** Zoidberg even did it in the midst of a monologue.
--->Zoidberg: So all over the world, couples stood together in joy. And me, Zoidberg!
** In "The Deep South", folk singer Donovan talks about how all the quality people (like Creator/JeffFoxworthy and the inventor of Coca-Cola) evacuated the sinking city of UsefulNotes/Atlanta. As the boat pulls away and in the middle of his narration, Creator/JaneFonda charges through the crowd, shoving people aside and leaps into the boat at the last second, prompting Donovan to add "And Jane Fonda was there too" mid-sentence.
** A stealth subversion in "Proposition Infinity": (a justified example because Bender really isn't part of humanity).
--->The Professor: OhTheHumanity! Also Bender.
** Also achieved twice in quick succession (both being acknowledged by the potential Zoidberg in question) in "Into The Wild Green Yonder", when the gorilla hole is being tested:
---> Lead Tester: Stand by, men! ...and manly aliens.\\
Lead Tester: [after hole is successfully completed] Good work, men! ..and manly aliens.
** In "Mobius Dick" there is a flashback to fifty years earlier when Zoidberg was popular enough to use this joke on the captain of the first Planet Express Crew.
---> Zoidberg: Hey, it's all my favourite patients, and also Captain Tucker! Pow!\\
[general laughter, high fives exchanged]\\
Captain Tucker: You totally got me, Dr. John. You're hilarious.\\
Hermes: [back in the present] Zoidberg was popular!?!
** Used again in "Fry Am the Egg Man", where Fry gets a monster (Mr. Peppy) as a pet:
---> Fry: Mr. Peppy is not like Zoidberg. He's my friend.\\
Zoidberg: Awww!
** Used in "Less Than Hero", insulting Fry. Fry is the only member of the team left - but he's still "all the rest".
--->Go, go, go, New Justice Team! \\
Fighting justice is their quest!\\
Super King, Clobberella, and all the rest!
** Subverted in "Spanish Fry" when the primary crew goes on a mission to .
---> Fry: Who's with me?\\
Leela: Me, Bender and Zoidberg if he feels like it.\\
Zoidberg: No, I'm good.
** Used in "Zapp Dingbat"
---> Zapp: Honored guests... and Kiff.
** Featured in "Brannigan, Begin Again" when Bender begs Leela to take command again.
---> Bender: "Leela, save me! ...And yourself, I guess. ...And my banjo!"
---> Fry: gestures to himself
---> Bender: "...And Fry!"
** Of course, being "And Zoidberg"'d isn't always bad. In the evil robot SantaClaus'who attempts to kill anybody who's on his "naughty" list, which is everybody, because his standards are impossibly high first appearance:
---> Robot Santa: You have all been very naughty, very naughty indeed! Except you, Dr. Zoidberg, this is for you. (Hands Zoidberg a pogo stick.)
** Inverted in "Bender's Big Score":
---> Lars: Hello to everyone who isn't Leela. And a very special hello to everyone else.
* WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons
** "Deep Space Homer" includes this, when a NASA guy starts a press conference with: "Ladies and gentlemen and members of the press..."
** "Margical History Tour" had the story of Lewis and Clark retold with Carl and Lenny.
--->Homer (as Chief): "We have always known of the coming of the white-man, and Carl"
* WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents
** Used to open a Chip Skylark concert
--->Timmy: Ladies! And Timmy Turner's dad!
--->Timmy's Dad: Hey, that's me!
** The above example is a played-with variation. Timmy was going to say "Ladies and Gentlemen", but since his dad was the only gentleman in the room, he had to address him by "name". Also, what Timmy actually says is something like "Hey all you screaming women...and Timmy Turner's Dad", making it more a joke about Timmy's dad's masculinity.
** In another episode:
--->Timmy: Everyone I know and love (and Mr. Crocker) are headed...!
** In "Timmy's Secret Wish", Timmy risked his life to save other characters. A member of the Fairy Council described them as Timmy's friends and Foop. (Crocker and Dark Laser were among the 'friends')
** Jorgen inverted it twice with "The reunion with the weakling fairies, AND ME, is going to begin." and in "Abracatastrophe": "This emergency meeting of every puny fairy in the universe, AND ME, will now come to order!"
* :
** In the episode "A Taste of Marzipan":
--->Mung: You see, Chowder, there is enough room in this festival for two good chefs...and Endive.
** Mung can't resist this trope, it seems. He also did the more obvious variant:
--->Mung: Ladies and gentlemen! ...And Endive.
* In WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfJimmyNeutronBoyGenius, Jimmy pulls this: "Ladies and Gentlemen!...And Cindy."
** When the group gets superpowers, Sheen decides to name their group the Fantastic League of Justice-Bringing Avenging Men. Libby objects, prompting Sheen to append, "And two girls!" Thereafter, whenever Sheen mentions the teams, it's the Fantastic League of Justice-Bringing Avenging Men and Two Girls. (Everyone else calls them the N Men.)
* In Literature/HorridHenry, Horrid Henry and the Lost Dog, Peter finds a dog's hair and analyses in his "lab", where he finds that it isn't a human hair, "and it isn't one of Henry's either".
* In WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender, "It's three on three plus Sokka." Due to Sokka being a warrior, but not a Bender.
** Since 2 of the 3 opponents weren't Benders either, that was still quite Zoidbergish.
** The Avatar Extras re-airings get into it too. In the end of "The Chase," when the Gaang plus Zuko attack Azula, it notes this is the first time in the series all four elements are seen attacking at once. Plus Sokka.
* WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures:
** In one episode:
--->Buster Bunny: Ladies and gentlemen...\\
Montana Max: [in audience] BOOOOOO! BOOOOOOOO!\\
Buster Bunny: ...and Monty.
** In the same episode, Bugs Bunny addresses the group of veteran cartoon characters:
--->WesternAnimation/BugsBunny: Distinguished friends, honored colleagues, beloved cartoon-stars...and uh, you too Daffy.\\
WesternAnimation/DaffyDuck: ...Oh, har har, it is to laugh.
* There's a Swedish cartoon centered around this, called .
* WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan: "Now gentlemen...and Rhino..."
* WesternAnimation/KingOfTheHill
** They used this trope at least once.
--->Hank: Hey guys...and Kahn.\\
Kahn: Hello!
** Dale does it in "The Honeymooners" episode.
--->Hank You guys don't have to come.\\
Dale Of course we're coming. We're the three amigos! ...And Bill.
* A visual variant on the same style gag is done in, of all places, the darkest episode of WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom, "The Ultimate Enemy". In a CrapsackWorld future, Jack, Maddie, Jazz, Tucker, Sam, and Mr. Lancer are dead. The first five get a statue that says "Gone, but Not Forgotten". The last? Just plain "Gone".
* In the last episode of WesternAnimation/AmericanDragonJakeLong, the presence of Jake's father gives Grandpa pause when he greets the family.
-->Grandpa: Welcome to Hong Kong, beloved family and...daughter's husband.
* WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb
** From the episode "What Do It Do?":
--->Phineas: Friends, bullies, Irving...
** In "The Lizard Whisperer", during :
--->: And we few, we happy few, we small band of brothers--and girl from across the street--
** In PhineasAndFerbMissionMarvel:
--->Phineas: Gentlemen...and Hulk, Welcome to S.H.E.D.
* WesternAnimation/AsToldByGinger:
-->Mrs. Gordon: Ladies. Gentlemen. Hoodsey.
* WesternAnimation/HeyArnold, from the episode "Wheezin' Ed."
-->Sid: AAAAAAAH!! It's Wheezin' Ed! And...and some other guy!
* WesternAnimation/AquaTeenHungerForce: "Friends...relations...whatever the hell Meatwad is..."
* In season 4 of WesternAnimation/WinxClub, we follow the adventures of the Winx Club and Roxy.
** Subverted, since she did become a Winx.
* WesternAnimation/TeenTitans:
-->Cyborg: Ladies and Gentlemen...and whatever Beast Boy is...
** In this case, Beast Boy had turned into a ring-tailed lemur just then, and Cyborg probably didn't know what he was.
* In the WesternAnimation/TimonAndPumbaa episode "The Laughing Hyenas: TV Dinner", this is done visually. Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed sit in directors chairs. Shenzi has the megaphone of Director 1, Banzai has the megaphone of Director 2, but Ed has a megaphone labeled simply Ed.
* In WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy, when Hey Nanny Nanny arrives to put Mandy in her place, Grim says the following.
-->Grim: She travels all over the world...and Burbank...
* In Disney's animated version of Disney/AliceInWonderland, the King of Hearts always seems to be referred to after everyone else, even Alice.
* From WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown:
-->Omi: Xiaolin Warriors, double your efforts! Raimundo, triple yours.
* WesternAnimation/AmericanDad: Klaus the fish is often a victim of this, such as after Francine comes home to the aftermath of a housefire:
--> Francine: Is everyone okay? Steve? Hayley? Roger?\\
Stan: Everyone's fine.\\
Francine: [sees Klaus glaring at her] Oh, and... and Klaus. Is Klaus okay? He's the only one I really care about.\\
Klaus: Too late, Francine. Too fucking late.
* "Actually, we're two genetically-altered lab mice dressed as wallpaper hangers in an attempt to TakeOverTheWorld! Oh, and he's Larry."
* A variant occurs in Kim Possible: So The Drama, wherein Kim responds to being asked if it's guy trouble, "It's not a guy, it's Ron."
* From Total Drama Revenge of the Island:
-->Brick: Men, and Dawn...
** Later in the season, when Chris dissolves the teams, he says that it'll now be "every man, woman and Cameron for himself."
** In an earlier season:
-->Owen: (talking about the other contestants) Duncan and Harold and Lindsay and Beth are my friends! Oh... and Courtney's okay, I guess.
* Played straight in WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy when one episode's opening is done in the style of WesternAnimation/SuperFriends with the cast of the Griffins playing as each super hero. Each one gets introduced...and Meg.
* WesternAnimation/DanVS: "Good news friends ... and Elise."
* In the WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012 episode "Metalhead", Donatello says "Gentlemen, and Raphael" before unveiling the eponymous attack drone. Raph is not amused by this, but Mikey seems to be.
* In one episode of WesternAnimation/GravityFalls, Grunkle Stan addresses his staff as "Party people... and Dipper."
* WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooMysteryIncorporated: Daphne's father delivers one when he is hosting a dinner for a visiting Chinese delegate in "The Dragon's Secret":
-->"Mr. Wang, friends... Fred".
* On WesternAnimation/SouthPark, Cartman is a frequent target of this. For example, in one early episode Kyle comments that he thinks of the group as his family--"except for Cartman."
** Weirdly inverted in the "Coon and Friends" Trilogy, when the superhero team continues to use Cartman's egocentric name even after they kick him out. Mysterion notes that it "pisses him off beyond belief (giggles) and I find that extremely funny."
* WesternAnimation/GeneratorRex: Rex delivers one regarding his RoguesGallery in "Enemies Mine":
-->Rex: My four worst enemies are still on the loose! Well, my three worst enemies and Valve.
* The intro for WesternAnimation/TazMania lists every member of the regular cast before tossing in, at the end, "...Oh yeah, don't forget Taz."

* At the 2008 Literature/Discworld convention, the convention chairman made a speech beginning: "My lord Patrician. Honoured Guild leaders. Ladies and gentlemen. Members of the Watch. Nobby. And Bernard Pearson."
* An old joke -- "Three musicians and a drummer"
** Vocal variation -- "Three men and a tenor"
** And inverted for "Three reporters and a gentleman from the Times".
* Frequently used when writing the Acknowledgments section of a doctoral thesis, as you will probably have to thank several people for political reasons, even if they don't actually merit mentioning. "I'd like to thank everybody who contributed to this project, and also this pet student my professor has". In extreme cases, your advisor is Zoidberg!
* Former German federal president Heinrich Luebke may or may not once have given a speech in Africa, opening with the words "Meine Damen und Herren, liebe Neger, ..." (Ladies and gentlemen, dear negroes...)
* Before he became a senator, Al Franken performed at a Clear Channel pro-Iraq-War rally. (He admits it's not his proudest moment, since he was against the Iraq War, just as he is now.) He opened with: "Ladies, Gentlemen, [=SportsRadio=] 640 WGST contest winners, and Lee Greenwood..." This incident is referenced in his book, Lies and The Lying Liars Who Tell Them.
* One of Creator/NeilGaiman's earlier books, Ghastly Beyond Belief (co-written with Creator/KimNewman) is dedicated "To all intelligent lifeforms everywhere...and to my sister Claire."
* Doug Demuro, Jalopnik columnist, invoked this trope with the passage:
** "For proof, I start with my own experience owning German cars. I've owned eight, in total: one from every important German automaker, and also Volkswagen. And they were all complete pieces of crap."
* At the 2006 Academy Awards, Jon Stewart (who was hosting) opened with "Good evening everybody, ladies, gentlemen...Felicity." (Felicity Huffman, who was nominated for playing a transsexual in Transamerica.)
* The solar system consists of eight planets... and IsExpendable, which along with other bodies is a dwarf planet.
* From a community-driven appliance drive: "We accept all appliances...and microwaves."
* Any speech that opens in the style of "Friends, Romans, countrymen..." risks sounding like this, especially if the listener perversely insists on interpreting the list as non-intersecting groups. The U.S. President's annual State of the Union address traditionally begins with something along the lines of "Ladies, gentlemen, members of Congress, distinguished guests..." In England, the proper way to greet a crowd is "Ladies, gentlemen, and officers of the Royal Navy", due to a decree by Queen Victoria stating that officers of the Royal Navy are not considered gentlemen.
* In Argentina, after a train accident, this immortal line was given: "Murieron tres personas y un boliviano.", or if you prefer: "Casualties are three persons and a Bolivian.", you can just get yourself an idea of how racist our country is from that alone. And it still managed to be freaking hilarious.

* Presumably unintentional example from an advert broadcast in the UK: "Get all these hilarious comedies, and Film/GrownUps and Film/TheOtherGuys, on Blu-Ray or DVD"
* Due to ColdWar, in a number of historical and fictional works about World War II, the Western Allied Powers are often shorted to simply Allied Powers, although the latter also included Soviet Union and its allies (such as Polish Armia Ludowa). "Allied Powers... and the Soviet Union" sounds just like the trope.
* When Khruschev came to power in USSR, the opposition in Central Committee was labeled "factionary anti-party group which included Molotov, Kaganovich [...] and Shepilov who adjoined them", mostly to "discount" at least one -- 8 members of the Communist Party top rung in "anti-party group" was too much. "Shepilov" immediately became memetic alias for any extra joining an established group, and it has become a joke that the longest last name in Russia is Andshepilovwhoadjoinedthem. Shepilov even wrote memoirs later, titled "The Unadjoined".
* Outside of Spain, the Spanish vosotros pronoun is often given this treatment, probably because Spain is the only country to use it.

* The G8 is often referred to by the press as "The 7 most developed countries... and Russia." The actual ranking of Russia on the "most developed countries" list varies with the metric used. For example, as of 2012, Russia ranks 9th on gross domestic product, behind Italy, the UK and Brazil, however Russia ranks 4th on nuclear energy production and 1st on oil production (second behind the Arab League if the latter is taken as a whole country).

* The full name of the UK can come across as this: The United Kingdom of Great Britain(The proper name of the island that is composed of England, Scotland, and Wales) and Northern Ireland.
* Rice University has a residential college system. When Martel was built, it was founded as a dormitory instead of a college, receiving 60 freshmen from the other colleges. The other colleges then decided to agree that Martel doesn't properly qualify as a college. Although Duncan and [=McMurtry=] have been built since then and are considered colleges, the running joke that "Martel is not a college" still remains, making common such statements as, "Remember, there are nine other colleges and Martel."
* In the state of Georgia, Dade County, located in the extreme northwestern corner of the state. Until 1939, there was no access road to Dade County from the rest of the state, meaning one had to drive through Alabama or Tennessee to get to Dade County. More controversially, Dade County was omitted from the state outline on the Georgia State QuarterConversely, it could be considered a reference to Dade's 1860 secession not only from the Union, but from Georgia as well.

* It's rather common to hear U.S. media say something along the lines of "X states and the District of Columbia", due to D.C.'s weird status in regards to statehood. It has 3 electoral votes in the Electoral College, but does not have a voting representative in the House or Senate.
* Played for laughs in the Website/GiantBomb video game community. At first it use to be the Jeff, Ryan, Vinny, and Brad Shoemaker. Mainly because Brad was known for playing pretty bad during video game quick looks, much to the entertainment of the community. A saying was even coined called: "Pulling a Brad," as well as jokes about Brad getting fired and leaving the website. However, in recent years, Brad Shoemaker became decent enough to show off games properly during quick looks to where the ButtMonkey effect wore off and "Team Brad" replaced it. Now Patrick Klepek is considered the "and" guy among the Giantbomb cast. Especially after his controversial articles about sexism in the video game industry among other things that upset the community; a community that's use to jokes and sarcasm from the main staff, not serious articles about discrimination. He's also been included in almost every quick look since he joined the video game website.
* A common joke: Members of the IvyLeague and Brown.
* In South America, Suriname (a former Dutch colony), Guyana (former British colony) and French Guiana (still a part of France) are often forgotten amidst 10 former Portugal and Spainish colonies.
** Especially so in football (soccer)—these are the only three South American countries that are not members of CONMEBOL, which governs the sport in South America. They're instead members of CONCACAF, the continental governing body for the rest of the Americas and the Caribbean.
