Love is a many-splendored thing. It can cause those who are in the throes of it to do amazing things. Go into war against a nigh-insurmountable foe, climb the tallest mountain you can find, [[ArsonMurderandJaywalking put down the toilet seat after they're finished]], lots of stuff. Many people like to say that true love gives them a feeling like they're walking on air. In some forms of fiction, this is taken literally.

A man and a woman are shown in an embrace, they are both smiling, happy and content. As the camera backs away, we see that their feet are a few inches above the ground, but they are both so enraptured, they don't even notice their sudden lack of gravity. This is what is known as a Lovitation ([[DontExplainTheJoke a portmanteau of love and levitation]]). This is usually shown in fantasies, science fiction stories and occasionally romantic comedies to show that there is an overall magical quality to ThePowerOfLove. [[Music/CelineDion No not that one]]. [[Film/BackToTheFuture1 Or that one]].

* In the ''Manga/BloomIntoYou Anthology'' story, "Free Floating Maidens", Toukjo finds Yuu reading a romance manga, and floating a few inches above the ground, apparently while Yuu is reading a particularly romantic moment. Touko points this out, and Yuu, oblivious, comes back to earth. When Yuu goes back to reading, she floats even higher, while still oblivious. After she lands this time, Touko joins her and they both float near the ceiling just as Sayaka walks in. She has the same shocked face Touko had at the start, and the narrative box notes that later, she floats too.

** "[[Recap/InterviewWithTheVampire2022S1E6LikeAngelsPutInHellByGod Like Angels Put in Hell by God]]": It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but while Lestat is making love to Louis on their bed, their bodies hover just above the mattress.
* On ''Series/LoisAndClark'', Lois and Superman floated several times together. Once while making love, and at least twice while in a vertical embrace. In fact, a famous scene of Lois and Clark kissing while wrapped in Clark's cape and floating in front of a large full moon became part of the credits sequence. This imagery starts in the pilot, where it's a little more prurient: When Lois dramatically appears on the stairs at Lex's ball and confronts him in front of the entire assembly ("Lex Luthor! Why aren't you returning my calls?" [''thunderclap'']), Clark, standing the crowd behind Jimmy, [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything rises a few feet off the ground]] before settling back down again, in all senses of the expression. The DVD commentary implies it means exactly what you think it means.

* ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'': The [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkc8CyuoGjo Love at First Sight]] sketch has Chance the Rapper and Cecily Strong experiencing true love and begin to fly.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Theatre]]
