->''"I call this tale, in deference to another, longer story... 'Literature/ATaleOfTwoCities'."''
-->-- '''Gaheris''', ''ComicBook/TheSandman1989''

A common way to name works:

# Pick some reasonably apropos quote from something famous. Creator/WilliamShakespeare and Literature/TheBible are as always the most common.
# Either use that as your title, or take some reasonably indicative noun phrase from it.
# Optionally, mess with the phrasing slightly to make it work better as a title or fit the setting.
# If all this sounds like too much work, pick any three or four consecutive words from Creator/WilliamButlerYeats' poem "Literature/TheSecondComing".
# Bonus points if a character [[TitleDrop quotes the title in the work itself]].

Despite the name, the quote need not come from literature ''per se''. Common non-literary sources for titles include political speeches, movies, and songs (but see TitledAfterTheSong for examples of the latter). Many of these quotes will be StockQuotes. A subtrope of ShoutOut, and often accompanied by an InspirationNod.

See also CompleteTheQuoteTitle and PopCulturePunEpisodeTitle for other examples of a ShoutOut in a title.

Compare [[ReferencedBy/WilliamShakespeare [=ReferencedBy/WilliamShakespeare=]]], AsTheGoodBookSays, and SpeaksInShoutOuts for when this occurs in the main text rather than the title. See also TerminologyTitle and OminousLegalPhraseTitle.
