'''''LEGO Adventurers''''' (later called Orient Expedition) is one of the many themes of {{LEGO}} toys out there, focusing around adventurers [[AdventurerArchaeologist Johnny Thunder]], [[IntrepidReporter Pippin Reed]] (formerly Gail Storm), and [[AbsentMindedProfessor Dr. Charles Kilroy]] (formerly Charles Lightning) as they travel the world in search of ancient artefacts (with one exception). They had one recurring villain, Sam Sinister (who forms a micro-ContinuitySnarl) and many single-subtheme villains.

The theme itself was divided into four smaller themes, with [[SerialEscalation the last one itself split into three]]:
* '''Egypt''': Based around AncientEgypt, where the main setpiece was a pyramid and the primary {{MacGuffin}} was Re-Gou, the largest ruby in the world. Sam Sinister and Baron von Barron were the villains.
* '''Amazon''': Set in South America, the Adventurers search for {{Mayincatec}} treasures this time, especially the "Sun Disk", opposed by the villainous Señor Palomar. Sam Sinister is oddly absent.
* '''Dino Island''': Johnny and co. investigate a LostWorld. Sam Sinister (formerly Baron von Barron), [[DistaffCounterpart his sister]], Alexis Sanister, and Mr. Cunningham are the antagonists this time.
* '''Orient Expedition''': As the name implies, all three are set in the East. The main goal is to find a golden dragon given to Creator/MarcoPolo by Kublai Khan, which in turn needs three PlotCoupons to find. Sam Sinister figures in all three subthemes.
** '''India''': The Golden Shield as well as the Sunstone is found here, the latter being needed to overthrow a tyrannical maharajah.
** '''Mt. Everest''': The Golden Sword is to be found near its peak. Yetis, sherpas and poachers are abound here.
** '''China''': The Golden Helmet and the Golden Dragon are to be found here. Opposing the crew is the evil Emperor Chang Wu.

* BigfootSasquatchAndYeti: The last of these appears - where else? - in [[ShamgriLa the Himalayas]], where it chases Pippin Reed and later pursues the Adventurers to the Temple of Mount Everest.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: The PowerTrio used to have a pilot, Harry Cane. He disappears after the jungle theme.
* ContinuitySnarl: At first, there were two main villains, called Sam Sinister (or [[DubNameChange Slyboots]]) and Baron von Barron (or [[DubNameChange Mr. Hates]]). When Dino Island rolled around, Baron von Barron/Mr. Hates was renamed Sam Sinister, while the original Sam Sinister became more commonly known by his European name Slyboots. It gets particularly confusing [[http://www.miniland.nl/LEGOclub/lego%20mania%20magazine%20sep%20oct%202000/2.jpg here]], where the hook-handed villain is introduced as "Sam Sinister (aka Baron von Barron)", which surely must have confused anyone who knew beforehand that Sam Sinister and Baron von Barron were originally separate characters.
** This got so notorious that even LEGO [[AscendedMeme got into the act]], putting a joke about it in their Minifig line.
* CoolBoat: The Adventurers get a pair of Cool Boats between the River Expedition and the T-Rex Transport sets.
** Emperor Chang Wu has an entire fleet of ships, one of which gets captained by Lord Sam Sinister.
* {{Crossover}}: With ''LEGO Studios''. Johnny Thunder also appears in LEGORacers and LEGOUniverse.
* DastardlyWhiplash: Slyboots (the original Sam Sinister) has this appearance.
* DieselPunk / TwoFistedTales : It's basically a Lego IndianaJones series (years before there were official licensed Indy sets and minifigs), so this is to be expected.
* DubNameChange: Perhaps the most infamous and confusing instance of this in LEGO history comes from the Egypt line:
** In America, the PowerTrio consisted of Johnny Thunder, Gail Storm, and Charles Kilroy. The top hat-wearing villain was named Sam Sinister, and his hook-handed accomplice was named Baron von Barron.
** In Europe, the PowerTrio consisted of Sam Grant (although he was sometimes referred to as Johnny Thunder), Pippin Reed, and Dr. Kilroy. The top hat-wearing villain was named Slyboots, and his hook-handed accomplice was named Mr. Hates.
** In the later Amazon line, the villains were named Señor Palomar and Rudo Villano in America, while they were known as Señor Gomez and Max Villano in Europe.
** Additionally, much like LEGOPirates, the names of some of the early sets differed greatly between America and Europe. For example, Pharaoh Hotep III's temple was known as the Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins in America and the Temple of Anubis in Europe.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The Egypt line had the worst cases of {{Dub Name Change}}s. By the Dino Island line, most character and set names were international rather than region-specific.
* EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs: The ''Dino Island'' sub-theme.
* {{Expy}}: As mentioned above, of ''Franchise/IndianaJones'', with elements of ''Franchise/JurassicPark'' and A. C. Doyle's ''Literature/TheLostWorld''.
* GdayMate: Johnny Thunder is officially an Aussie.
* ImprovisedWeapon: In a comic based on Orient Expedition on the LEGO Website. After helping Pippin escape from of their prison cell, she asks how she's meant to get the others out. Johnny just hands her a part of the bed through the bars and tells her "You're a smart girl, see what you can do with this."
* LimitedWardrobe / UnlimitedWardrobe: The Adventurers get about three different outfits each, and Sam Sinister has two, each with minor variations.
* LostWorld: Dino Island.
* {{Mayincatec}}: The entire Amazon theme.
* MultinationalTeam: Johnny Thunder is Australian, Dr. Kilroy is British, and Pippin Reed is American.
* PaletteSwap: In the Orient Expedition line, Johnny Thunder's personal bi-plane during the China StoryArc, the Thunder Blazer, is a Palette Swap of the bi-plane flown by Lord Sinister during the Mount Everest StoryArc.
* PredatorsAreMean: While this may be, the heroes put a lot of effort into saving even tyrannosaurs from the villains.
* ShamgriLa: The second StoryArc of Orient Expedition takes place in the Himalayas as the Adventurers search for the Temple of Mount Everest.
* ShownTheirWork: Each instruction booklet in the ''Dino Island'' line included a brief science section dedicated to the four StockDinosaurs.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: In the Egypt line, the name "Baron von Barron" was sometimes written as "Baron von Baron".
** In the Dino Island line, the surname "Sinister" was sometimes written as "Sanister", and "Reed" was sometimes written as "Read".
* StockDinosaurs: ''TyrannosaurusRex'', ''Triceratops'', ''Stegosaurus'' and ''Pteranodon'', although the latter was actually based on the ''Pteranodon'' species that nowadays goes under the name ''Geosternbergia''.
