!!Tropes Used:
* AcquiredPoisonImmunity: One of Dee Dee's concoctions gives you this.
* BoardingSchoolOfHorrors- In the second book, Ananka's parents threaten to send her to one if she doesn't get her grades up. But, [[spoiler: it's a lie to scare her into doing it.]]. Similarly, in the third book, Amelia Beauregard's Institute is notorious for destroying a girl's individuality.
* BeneathTheEarth: The Shadow City, of course. The website demonstrates all the research that went into making it viable. The third book moves to the catacombs of Paris.
* BeautifulAllAlong
* BigAppleSauce
* BrilliantButLazy: Ananka.
* BrutalHonesty: Why the girls think Oona is rude.
* CuteBruiser: Kiki herself.
* CuteClumsyGirl: Dee Dee Morlock.
* DeadpanSnarker: Oona Wong.
* DefrostingIceQueen: Luz Lopez.
* {{Delinquents}}: Luz makes illegal weapons, Oona forges and is a master computer hacker, and Kiki is a thief. And they're Girl Scouts.
* EverythingsBetterWithPrincesses : In both the literal and figurative, highschool social stature sense. The book notes that there are so many deposed Eastern European princesses that no New York high class social circle would be complete without one.
* {{Evil Prince}}ss: Sidonia.
* FieryRedhead: Luz Lopez.
* [[GirlScoutsAreEvil Girl Scouts are Morally Ambiguous]]: Or at least too fond of illegal or questionable activities to fit in well, which is why Kiki seeks them out at the beginning of ''Shadow City''.
* HandsOffParenting: Ananka's parents.
* HeroicAlbino: Kiki Strike.
* HotBlooded: Luz Lopez.
* LesYay: Kiki and Ananka, oh boy. Ananka is "spellbound" by Kiki, and takes care to discuss her appearance in great detail. It goes both ways: Ananka is special to Kiki as well, being the only one of the irregulars who sought Kiki out instead of being recuited by her. All of the other Irregulars are there for some sort of reason-- master chemist, inventor, master of disguise, forger-- but Ananka is there because of her library, which is a flimsy excuse by Kiki for "I like her".
* MadScientistLaboratory: Dee Dee has one.
* MasterOfDisguise: Betty Bent.
* MineralMacGuffin: The ring Kiki has to steal.
* MysteriousPast: It's hard for Ananka to tell who or what Kiki is because she won't let on.
* {{Nerd}}: Ananka
* NewTransferStudent: Kiki Strike.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Oona pretends to not understand English so she can spy on her salon-goers' secrets.
* TheObiWan: Verushka, Kiki's royal bodyguard.
* OrphansPlotTrinket: The inscribed ring.
* PennyAmongDiamonds: Subverted, see ScholarshipStudent down below.
* PerfectPoison: Death by allergy... almost.
* ThePlan: Sidonia... and then Kiki pulls one on her.
* {{Ruritania}}: Pokrovia.
* ScholarshipStudent: Subverted; At her school, where there are a lot of scholarship girls, Ananka is the outsider because one of her relatives left the family money that can ''only'' be spent on education and nothing else. Ananka is neither rich nor a good student (though her low grades are because [[BrilliantButLazy she's bored]].)
* SecondaryCharacterTitle: Kiki Strike is the WaifFu-practicing leader of the Irregulars, but protagonist Ananka narrates.
* SixthRanger: Iris.
* TheSnarkKnight: Oona switches on and off with Ananka for this.
* TalkativeLoon: the captives.
* TruthSerum: [[InvertedTrope Inverted]] in that the said chemical actually is worn to make you seem trustworthy, not make the wearer of it tell the truth.
* TheStoic: Kiki Strike.
* WaifFu: Kiki is practically the size of a small child and can take out grown men.
* WhiteHairedPrettyGirl: Kiki. Although many characters, both good and bad, find her looks bizarre or unnerving.
* WrenchWench: Luz Lopez.
