[[DescribeTopicHere Don't you think you've described enough tropes already?]]

''[[DescribeTopicHere Hey, I'll TELL you when I've described too many!]]''

A character is having a lot to drink, induced [[DrowningMySorrows by sorrow]] or otherwise, and TheBartender tries to gently get this character to stop. This character will then react angrily. Often, the bartender asks "Don't you think you've had enough?", and the character snaps "I'll ''tell'' you when I've had enough!", hence the name.

Nowadays, it's almost a DiscreditedTrope due to having as many parodies, usually involving someone DrunkOnMilk or drinking an [[CantHoldHisLiquor absurdly small amount]], as straight uses.

Also, even though people in RealLife are prone to do this, bartenders don't stop at asking. A bar can lose its license to serve alcohol by serving overly intoxicated customers in most jurisdictions, and the bartender may face legal repercussions, too. They will simply refuse to serve a seriously intoxicated customer any more alcohol, and if the customer makes a fuss, well, that's why bars have {{Bouncer}}s.

Some bartenders want to use a customer's intoxicated state to coax more money out of them, but don't want them to get any more drunk, so they will water down the drinks or replace alcoholic components of cocktails with non-alcoholic substitutes (which is very easy with fruity cocktails or "bitch drinks", as the fruit flavors traditionally overpower the alcohol anyways), with the drunk none the wiser due to the body's inability to detect alcohol past a certain intoxication threshold.

Almost the mantra of TheAlcoholic.
