A duo of comic books by JhonenVasquez, [[HeAlsoDid the guy who did]] ''InvaderZim''. It's a spin off of ''JohnnyTheHomicidalManiac'', exploring Devi's life after the main series and the start of her own mental sickness at the hands of a deranged painting of hers known as Sickness, as well as the start of serious anti-social behaviors as a result of stress from her work for a publishing company.

[[WMG: Tropes in this work include:]]
* ArtInitiatesLife: With demonic assistance feeding off your brain.
* AtomicFBomb: Devi [[ClusterFBomb curses]] a lot throughout the comic, but the biggest one of all is when she [[spoiler:realizes Sickness tricked her into shredding her own hands on a broken jar, thereby preventing her from painting.]]
* BadBoss: Devi's is both stupid and... um... [[UnfortunateImplications well.]] Good thing [[spoiler: she quits]].
--> '''[[CreatorCameo Jhonen Vasquez]]:''' You wanted to see me, Mr. Nevers?
--> '''[[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity Mr. Nevers]]:''' I'm going to rape you up the butt and then throw you out the window!
* BlackBestFriend: Tenna, who goes above and beyond as Devi's only friend.
* CallBack: [[JohnnyTheHomicidalManiac "He shit in his fucking pants! It was practically shooting out of every orifice! It was like watching an outhouse explode! It ruined dinner!"]]
** Also, to Devi's date with Johnny. We get to see (via flashback) Devi and Johnny's conversation on the hill immediately preceding the part we see at the start of ''Johnny'' volume 2.
** And Sickness appears to be [[spoiler: Psychodoughboy and Mr. Fuck]] brought back in a new form to do to Devi what they once did to Johnny. One has to wonder about what happens after the series ends with that in mind...
* TheCameo: Eric the vampire (pre [[AscendedFanboy becoming an actual vampire]]) shows up as the impetus for one of the unfortunate social incidents in Devi's flashbacks in the first issue.
* CantGetInTroubleForNuthin: Sickness offers this ability to Devi in exchange for her mind.
* CharacterBlog: In-universe, as each volume starts with Devi's journal writings charting the events that lead up to the comic proper. Doubles as an InfoDump.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Tenna.
* CrapsackWorld: Shared with Johnny and Squee.
** This version actually starts out as fairly normal by comparison. Then you get stuff like the [[SurroundedByIdiots wonderful world of retail]] and Devi's [[BadBoss boss]].
* CreatorCameo: Jhonen Vasquez appears briefly in the second issue, then suffers DeathByCameo when Devi's boss throws him out a window.
* CreepyDoll: Sickness.
* {{Determinator}}: Devi will not give up her mind to Sickness. Period. Even if she has to [[spoiler: quit her job and nearly be smothered by a morbidly obese fat lady]]. Also, [[WeirdnessMagnet her]] [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption dating]] [[CrowningMomentOfFunny attempts]].
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Look what Devi caught from her one-time date!
* ExecutiveMeddling: In-universe. Devi finally quits in protest.
* {{Filler}}: Fillerbunny, and to a lesser extent the bad date flashbacks. (The word "[[JohnnyTheHomicidalManiac Mean]][[{{ComicBook/Squee}} while]]" even pops up in reference to the latter.)
* FateWorseThanDeath: At the climax of the comic, [[spoiler:Devi impales Sickness on a paintbrush and tears their eyes out. She then drops them in the bottom of her backpack, implying that Sickness is stuck there. ''Forever''.]]
--> Devi: Because you're mine now, you fuckin' idiot.
* GoodParents: [[JhonenVasquez Shockingly enough]], a flashback reveals that Devi's dad actually cared about her and was nervous about his little girl dating. [[CrapsackWorld Around here]], that probably makes him Parent of the Year.
* ImagineSpotting: "That's bullshit! And why the fuck am I wearing a bear suit?!"
* MeaningfulName: Sickness.
* MeanwhileInTheFuture: Devi's flashback to her youth is labeled "meanwhile some years back."
* MrExposition: Sickness is this entirely against her will. No matter how hard she tries, she just can't stop. The exposition tends to double as a MotiveRant, making things worse.
* MythologyGag: "Meanwhile some years back" nods to the filler stories Vasquez would pepper issues of ''JTHM'' and ''Squee'' with, all of which had titles invariably starting with the word "meanwhile" (and are even grouped as Meanwhiles in the ''Squee'' anthology.)
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Sickness accidentally reveals too much to Devi via [[MrExposition their inability to stop talking]], leading to [[spoiler:her realizing what her fate will be if she doesn't fight back. She's in the middle of a meeting with her BadBoss when she figures everything out out.]]
--> Sickness: [[ComicBook/JohnnyTheHomicidalManiac Your friend]] thought he could fight it too.
* OnlySaneMan: [[SnarkKnight Devi]], the character who spends the story fighting off a mental breakdown at the hands of a demonic brain parasite and a job specializing in ExecutiveMeddling. [[{{Irony}} Yeah.]]
* PinocchioSyndrome: Sickness.
* TouchedByVorlons: Apparently, Sickness was introduced to Devi through her interaction with [[JohnnyTheHomicidalManiac Nny]].
* VampireVannabe: Eric the Vampire. Since this is a flashback, we know he gets his wish granted in one of the Meanwhiles.
* WeirdnessMagnet: Devi is one. Tenna lampshades this.
* YourAnswerToEverything: "You need to get out more" is Tenna's.
