Usually a PowerTrio of secondary characters, if there are three of them chances are one will be large and/or fat, one will be skinny, and one will be short. The big one will generally be [[GentleGiant good-natured]], and the short one will generally be [[TheNapoleon grumpy]].

The tall, thin guy will usually be the leader. The short one will be the brains, unless he's TheNapoleon. The big guy will be either TheDragon or TheBrute. Compare BeautyBrainsAndBrawn.

SisterTrope to FatAndSkinny and BigGuyLittleGuy. Compare with TerribleTrio, which is usually composed of two "skinny" members and one "short" one.

* Count Chocula (thin), Frankenberry (big), and Boo Berry (short) of [[UsefulNotes/GeneralMills the Monster Cereals]].

[[folder:Anime & Manga]]
* The three other kids in the "Boy Detectives" in ''Manga/DetectiveConan''. Big/Fat kid, skinny kid, short kid who is also the girl.
* Arguably, the three sister goddesses, Urd, Belldandy, and Skuld, from ''[[Manga/AhMyGoddess Ah! My Goddess!]]'' Skuld is short, Belldandy is skinny, and while Urd is only slightly taller than Belldandy, she has a '''much''' more voluptuous figure.
* Somewhat averted in ''RODTheTV'': Michelle is buxom and bubbly, Maggie is quiet and thin, and [[ShortTank Anita]] is small, young, and grumpy.
* Warera, Konda, and Rori respectively, from ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross'', aka Bron, Konda, and Rico from ''Anime/{{Robotech}}''
* ''{{Eyeshield 21}}'' has a few:
** Hakkai, Gojyo, and Goku.
** Kurita, Hiruma, and Sena.
** Yamabushi, Unsui/Agon, and Ikkyu to an extent.
* ''Anime/YuGiOh'''s Zygor, Sid, and Bonz definitely qualify for this.
* Jose (big), Placido (skinny) and Lucciano (short) from ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds''. Although the usual personalities for the short and big ones are inverted here as Jose is the grumpy one, and [[TheHyena sort of]] good-natured Lucciano.
* Foxy (short), Porche (skinny) and Hamburg (big) from ''Manga/OnePiece''. Foxy isn't that much shorter than Porche, but still he is about the height of Luffy which makes him VERY short for a grown-up male (Porche is female) One Piece character.
** The 3 Captains: Eustass Kidd (big & muscular), Trafalgar Law (lean) and Monkey D. Luffy (short..even shorter after he used his Gear)
* Ed, Al and Winry from ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' are this for the bulk of the story. Al is obviously big, while Winry, due to only being a teenager, still has a rather slight figure, and Ed is TheNapoleon.
* ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'' has the [[spoiler:Titan Shifters sent to infiltrate the military. [[BruiserWithASoftCenter Reiner]] is built like a linebacker, [[TheQuietOne Bertolt]] is tall and thin, and [[DarkActionGirl Annie]] is [[BrokenBird surly]] and pint-sized]].

[[folder:Comic Books]]
* Big Figure, Lawrence and Michael from ''Comicbook/{{Watchmen}}''. Big Figure is short, Lawrence is fat and Michael is thin, or at least not short or fat...
* MarvelComics' Enforcers: Big (Ox), skinny (Montana), short (Fancy Dan)
* [[CasperTheFriendlyGhost Casper]]'s three uncles Stretch (thin), Stinky (short), and Fatso (big) from the comics/movie.
* Patience, Prudence and Plenty, the ladies-in-waiting of ''ComicBook/CastleWaiting''.
* Mac, Tony and Tim in ''ComicBook/LesInnommables''.
* The Badd Lads, Boss (short), Knuck (big) and Fingers (thin) from now-defunct UK comic ''TheBeezer''.

* Shakey (short), Salty (thin) and Mooch (big) from ''WesternAnimation/AlphaAndOmega'' are a heroic comic relief version of the trope.
* Perhaps stretching the trope too far, but Sabretooth (big), Mystique (thin), and Toad (short) from ''Film/XMen1''.
* From the film version of ''[[Film/TheHobbit The Hobbit]]'' there's a sibling trio consisting of Bifur (short), Bofur (thin) and Bombur (big) who appear to be this.

* The trio of hunters, [[DramaticTimpani Misha, Yasha, and Vladimir]], from the short ''Peter and the Wolf'' in ''Disney/MakeMineMusic''.
* The Toad (short and bad-tempered) and his henchrats Spike (thin) and Whitey (big and good-natured) from ''WesternAnimation/FlushedAway''.
** Removing the Toad and substituting his other prominent henchrat Thimblenose Ted preserves the dynamic but switches the types around some. Spike now becomes Short, Whitey becomes Big and Ted is thin.
* Flora, Fauna and Merriweather, the good fairies from ''Disney/SleepingBeauty''.
* The Bullies from ''WesternAnimation/TheLandBeforeTime''. Hyp (thin), Nod (short), and Mutt (big).
* In ''Disney/{{Mulan}}'': fellow recruit characters Yao (short), Ling (thin), and Chien-Po (large and fat). They also conform to grumpy/good-natured personality pattern.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Brave}}'' has the lords of clans [=MacGuffin=], [=MacIntosh=], and Dingwall, as well as their sons. Lord [=MacGuffin=] and his son are tall and hefty, Lord [=MacIntosh=] is scrawny and his son has the wiry build of a sprinter, and Lord Dingwall is quite short, with his son taller but shorter than most everyone else.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBoxtrolls'' has Mr. Snatcher's lackeys Mr. Trout (Big), Mr. Pickles (Thin), and Mr. Gristle (Short).
* The goblins in ''{{Film/Legend}}'': Blix (Thin), Blunder (Short) and Pox (Big).

* Eric Bacon, Eric Fry, and Eric Ovens from the WaysideSchool books. Eric Bacon is short but not fat, Eric Fry is fat but not short, and Eric Ovens is short and fat.
** Wouldn't that be Big, Short, Short, then?
* The (arguably) main three characters of ''WinnieThePooh'': Pooh, Tigger and Piglet.
* ''[[TheExecutioner Stoney Man: Doom Prophecy]]'' had trio of hitmen who include a dwarf weapons designer, a giant brute, and a skinny PsychoForHire.

[[folder:Live Action TV]]
* The famous "Class" sketch from ''TheFrostReport'' starred Creator/JohnCleese (thin [and tall]) as Upper Class, RonnieBarker (big) as Middle Class, and RonnieCorbett (short) as Working Class.
* Creator/RickyGervais, Creator/StephenMerchant and Creator/WarwickDavis in ads for ''Series/LifesTooShort'', such as [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxeFSvU3NAA this one.]] Also, any time the three appear together in the series.
* In the ''TheFiveishDoctorsReboot'', the three remaining former Doctor actors that team up to try to get back onto the 50th Anniversary Creator/ColinBaker, Creator/PeterDavison and Creator/SylvesterMcCoy respectively.
* The PowerTrio from ''Series/MysteryScienceTheater3000''. Mike and Joel are big (compared to the bots, at least), Crow T. Robot is thin, and Tom Servo is short.

[[folder:Video Games]]
* ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'':
** One of the defining tropes of ''VideoGame/SonicHeroes'', averted by Team Sonic (as they're all the same size) and Team Dark (as none of them are really short).
*** Team Chaotix features Vector (Big), Espio (Thin), and Charmy (Short).
*** Team Rose has Big ([[CaptainObvious err, Big]]), Amy (Thin), and Cream (Short).
** The Babylon Rogues of ''VideoGame/SonicRiders'' follow this pattern as well, with Jet the Hawk (short), Wave the Swallow (thin), and Storm the Albatross (big).
** In the first Zone of ''[[VideoGame/SonicLostWorld Sonic Lost World's]]'' final world, Zazz (Thin), Zomom (Big) and Master Zik (Short) attack Sonic sequentially in a BossRush.

** [[RatchetAndClankFutureToolsOfDestruction Cronk, Talwyn, and Zephyr, arguably.]]
* Haggis [=McMutton=], Edward Van Helgen and Cutthroat Bill, Guybrush's crew in ''VideoGame/TheCurseOfMonkeyIsland''.
* The Magus Sisters in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIV'' (reappearing in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX''). Sandy is the tall one, Cindy the fat one, and Mindy the short.
* {{Kirby}}'s three main level helpers in ''VideoGame/Kirby64TheCrystalShards''. Waddle Dee is short, Adeline is skinny and King Dedede is big. Ribbon is also one of Kirby's supporters, but she doesn't show up to help in levels except to grab Crystal Shards.
* While ''FatalFury'''s Kim Kaphwan isn't particularly skinny, he cast himself in the thin role by teaming up with big Chang and short Choi in ''KingOfFighters''.
* [[TerribleTrio Snips, Ronk, and Papes]] from ''TheLegendaryStarfy'' fit this. Snips is skinny, Ronk is big, and Papes is short.
* The Shadow Sirens: Vivian (thin), Marilyn (big), and Beldam (short) from ''[[VideoGame/PaperMario Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]''.
* Tibarn (large), Janaff (short), and Ulki (thin) from ''FireEmblem'' [[VideoGame/FireEmblemTellius Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn]]. In this particular example, the short one, while certainly not calm, is friendly and likes joking quite a bit, and is clearly the least serious member of the group. Also, while the large one is certainly heroic, he is also extremely aggressive and revenge-prone.
* Violen (Big), Agile (Thin) and Serges (Short) from ''VideoGame/MegaManX 2''
* VideoGame/PokemonXAndY features five characters at the start of the game, as opposed to the usual three. In addition to the male and female player choices, you have [[http://www.cubed3.com/media/2013/June/newpokes2.jpg Tierno (Big), Trevor (Short) and Shauna (Thin)]].
* Feedback (short), Goggles (thin) and Lugnut (big) from ''ToonStruck''.
* Jugger, Kindle, and Koal, the TerribleTrio from ''AdvanceWars: Dual Strike''.
** And their predecessors from ''Black Hole Rising'': the muscular Flak, the slender Adder, and the shrimpy Lash.
** The first three Blue Moon [=COs=] count as well, with Olaf being fat, Grit being skinny, and Colin being small (though as with Lash and possibly Koal he's quite a bit younger than the other two).
* In ''[[BanjoKazooie Banjo-Tooie]]'', Gruntilda joins with her FatAndSkinny sisters (though Blobbelda is the "short" once Gruntilda joins) to form this sort of trio. The personalities aren't a good match, though: Gruntilda, the "big", is the leader of the trio, and definitely not good-natured.
* Solt, Peppor, and Ketchop in ''VideoGame/ChronoCross''.

* ''Webcomic/MenageA3'' has its central characters; [=DiDi=] is big, Gary is thin, and Zii is short. They're not much of a team, but thie visuals work fine.
* Problem Sleuth, Ace Dick and Pickle Inspector, from ''Webcomic/ProblemSleuth''.

[[folder:Western Animation]]
* Chris (big), Elise (thin) and Dan (short) from ''WesternAnimation/DanVs''
* [=SpongeBob=] (short), Patrick (big) and Squidward (thin) in ''WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants''
* The main trio in ''WesternAnimation/CourageTheCowardlyDog'', Courage, Muriel and Eustace (short, big and thin, respectively).
* Chow, Finn and Ratso in ''WesternAnimation/JackieChanAdventures'' (short, thin and big respectively).
* ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'', in that order.
* The Trio from ''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}''. Broadway is the good-natured fat guy. Brooklyn is lean muscle, but one less charitable gargoyle described him as "scrawny". Lexington is short, though maybe more prissy than grumpy.
* Jimbo (skinny), Dolph (short), and Kearney (large) from ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons''. Often they will be joined by Nelson Muntz, who is a little fat but not short, and not tall either, so he's kind of unclassifiable.
* The three guards of Agrabah who show up most often in the ''Disney/{{Aladdin}}'' series. There are more guards, but the three main guards are Razoul (big), Hakim (skinny) and Fazal (short and fat).
* Taurus Bulba's goons Hammerhead (big), Hoof (thin) and Mouth (short) in the first two episodes of ''WesternAnimation/DarkwingDuck''.
* Don Karnage's three henchmen Mad Dog (thin), Dumptruck (big) and Gibber (short) in ''WesternAnimation/TaleSpin''.

* ''WesternAnimation/TheCattanoogaCats'' has Groove, Scoots and Country.
* The Sun Riders, from ''WesternAnimation/SuperRobotMonkeyTeamHyperforceGo''. The big, muscular one is Super Quasar, the thin, curvy one is Aurora Six, and the short, {{adorkable}} one is Johnny Sunspot.
* The main characters of ''WesternAnimation/TimeSquad''. Tuddrussel is big and muscular, Larry is thin and sleek, and Otto is short (well, he is a little kid).
* Harold, Stinky, and Sid in ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'' are the big, thin, and short respectively.
* ''WesternAnimation/AaahhRealMonsters'': The three main characters and TrueCompanions are Oblina (thin, smart), Krumm (large, cheerful), and Ickis (short, MoodSwinger).
* ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow:'' Mordecai (thin) and Rigby (short) when they're with either [[FatBastard Muscle Man]] or [[GeniusBruiser Skips]]. Lampshaded when they try to infiltrate an abandoned radio studio; the AI detects them as no threat because Muscle Man is fat, Mordecai is skinny and Rigby is short.
* Avalanche (Thin, Leader), Toad (Short), and Blob (Large) from ''WesternAnimation/XMenEvolution'', tend to get set apart from Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (who are Magneto's kids). For at least one episode they were the only members of the Brotherhood (Pietro had defected to the Acolytes and Wanda had left to find them). They also have at least three times fought the X-Men just by themselves and did a PowerWalk together in the finale.
* Although they are part of the main group more than anything, Bulkhead, Prowl and Bumblebee from WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated fit this. Bulkhead is wide as he is tall, Prowl is the most slender of the cast and Bumblebee is the shortest of the team and [[BerserkButton incredibly sensitive about his height]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'':
** Nasty (big), Slim (thin) and Lardo (short), Concord Condor's older brothers from the "Concord The Kindly Condor" segment of "Toons From the Crypt". All three of them are much bigger than Concord in comparison.
** ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventuresHowISpentMyVacation'' features [[AbhorrentAdmirer the Boo Sisters]], a trio of man-hungry alligator girls who mistake Buster for a gentleman caller: Big Boo (Big), Sissy Boo (Thin), and Li'l Boo (Short).
* ''WesternAnimation/CatDog'' has the Greasers: Cliff (Big), Lube (Thin) and Shriek (Short).
* ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'': Garnet (Big), Pearl (Thin) and Amethyst (Short).
* ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog'': Dr. Robotnik (Big), Scratch (Thin) and Grounder (Short).

[[folder:Real Life]]
* British sketch troupe (and host/team captains of ''Podcast/PappysFlatshareSlamdown'') Pappy's: Tom (Big), Ben (Thin), and Matthew (Short).
