Valerie. Vera. Vanessa. Veronica. Violet. Vivian. Verbena. Velma. Virginia. Victor.

Something about the V's serve to make names sexier. They're also fairly unusual, which is probably part of it. As a result, a woman with a V name in a work is often a hint that she's supposed to be the alluring one. BettyAndVeronica have those names for a reason. Bonus points if the first and last name of the character both start with V.

Usually female, but not necessarily; names like Victor, Vincent, Vernon, Vergil, Vladimir or Valentine can come off as this as well.

Avoid real life examples unless it's a stage name or otherwise invokes this trope; someone good looking happening to have a name starting with V isn't good enough.

* Vanessa Rene from Anime/Madlax has quite a few admirers, both male and female, including the eponymous ActionGirl.
%%* Lelouch vi Britannia, from Anime/CodeGeass.
%%%Square pegged, by the same logic, any member of The Von Trope Family who happens to be remotely sexy despite not having a name starting with "V" would count.
* Manga/OnePiece:
** Violet, a dancer from Dressrosa that seduces Sanji. .
** As revealed in the Totland arc,
* Victor Nikiforov of Anime/YuriOnIce is considered sex on skates both in-universe and out.

* Veronica from Franchise/ArchieComics is an early example, and maybe a TropeCodifier.
* Vicki Vale from Franchise/Batman.
* Another comic book example is the fairly obscure Franchise/MarvelUniverse heroine Vienna, who qualifies.
* V'Lana, a sort of EvilCounterpart to Queen Mera from ComicBook/Aquaman
* Comicbook/VForVendetta had a beautiful actress called Valerie.
* On those occasions when his terrible facial scars are healed, Victor Von Doom is quite the looker.

* Veronica Corningstone from Film/AnchormanTheLegendOfRonBurgundy was like this. She arrives at the news station and all the men completely lose it.
* The first Film/Batman movie of the modern era uses Vicki Vale as the love interest.
* Velma and Veronica Kelly from Film/Chicago aim for the sultry jazz girl image. And succeed.
* A famous male example is Vincent Vega from Film/PulpFiction, played by Creator/JohnTravolta.
* Vesper Lynd from Film/CasinoRoyale2006, played at her alluring best by Creator/EvaGreen.
* Violet from the movie Film/Ultraviolet, played by Mila Jovovich
* Vivian from Film/LegallyBlonde may or may not be an example. She's portrayed as stuffy and not particularly sensual, but on the other hand Warner leaves Elle for her and she is played by Selma Blair
* Many of Creator/AdamSandler's love interests in his films have alliterative names starting with V. Veronica Vaughn in Film/BillyMadison, Virginia Venit in Film/HappyGilmore, and Vicki Vallencourt in Film/TheWaterboy are the best examples. Film/BigDaddy has a "Vanessa"; while she is not the female lead, she is visibly sexier than the woman Adam winds up with.
* Violet Bick, Bedford Falls' resident flirt, in Film/ItsAWonderfulLife.
* Violet from film Film/Bound 1996.
* Vendice Partners from Film/Absolute Beginners is played by DAVID BOWIE. Enough said.
* Vivian, the HookerWithAHeartOfGold from Film/PrettyWoman
* Film/DarkAngelTheAscent: Veronica, a CuteMonsterGirl demon who wants to experience life on Earth.
* In Disney/TheLittleMermaid, what name does Ursula take when she turns into a sultry young woman in order to seduce Eric? Vanessa, of course.
* Film/FinalGirl: The main character Veronica is a stunning blonde in a red dress who was trained to hunt down serial killers.

* Literature/HarryPotter:
** Played with in regards to Viktor Krum. He's an international Quidditch player, which makes all the girls at Hogwarts swoon over him, but he's also described as not especially attractive, and spends a good deal of time in the library.
** Vincent Crabbe is a definite aversion because he is obese and ugly.
** There is a fair chance that Fleur and Bill's daughter Victoire is this, considering that her mother is said to be extremely attractive, her father implied to be handsome, and she is 1/8 Veela (and Veela are known for their otherworldly beauty... and their species name also starts with V).
** The BigBad, who IWasQuiteALooker was quite a looker when he went by Tom Riddle, inverted this trope by adopting the name "Voldemort" around the same time as he discovered that evil makes you ugly and monstrous.
* Vittoria Vetra from Creator/DanBrown's Literature/AngelsAndDemons. The sexy Italian yoga master.
* Vesper Lynd from Casino Royale, as mentioned above.
* Franchise/ConanTheBarbarian gives us the pirate queen Valeria.
* Vanessa in the Literature/DiogenesClub stories. Lampshaded in "You Don't Have To Be Mad..." where she goes undercover as Vanessa Vail, and the Pleasant Green Centre turns this into "vivacious Veevee".
* Victor Tuglebend/Marachino, the handsome leading man in Discworld/MovingPictures.
* Vivian Regan in Literature/TheBigSleep.
* In the first Literature/BridgetJones book, Bridget lived in an apartment block with a very gorgeous woman named Vanessa.
* Vanessa from the Literature/Fablehaven series is described in universe as "smoking-hot."
* Vicky from Vicky Angel by Jacqueline Wilson was very attractive and popular when she was alive.
* Vida in Creator/RichardBrautigan's The Abortion: An Historical Romance 1966, who is described as the WorldsMostBeautifulWoman.
* In Literature/TheMillenniumTrilogy, one of Mimmi's other girlfriends is nicknamed "Double V". Little else is mentioned about her, but it's implied that she's more conventionally attractive and sexually aggressive than Salander, and thus Lizbeth avoids her.
* In Literature/She, Creator/HRiderHaggard compares Leo Vincey to a Greek god.

* In an episode of Series/BetterOffTed, the boss attempts to blackmail one Phil into signing a waiver using her best sultry act.
--> Veronica: "Ooh. I like the way you say my name. Veronica... Ooh. I like the way I say it too"\\
Phil: "I could listen to you say your name all day"\\
Veronica: "So could I!"
* On a season of Series/TheBachelor, the winner was a woman named Vienna. Let's just say she didn't win because of her social graces.
* Vincent from Series/1987 may not be the handsomest -- but he makes Catherine's heart go pitter-patter. And quite a bit of the audience as well.
* Vyvyan on Series/TheYoungOnes is a strange, mainly fan-reaction example. He is a crude, spotty, violent, antagonistic Quincy Punk -- in other words, a character blatantly not intended to be sexy. Nevertheless, a great number of the show's female fans consider him to be the hottest of the four lads, thus also buying him a pair of leather pants. Being played by the Comic Strip's resident Bishonen, Adrian Edmondson, may have something to do with it as well.
* Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayers Veruca manages to entrance every male member of the Scooby Gang, even .
* Franchise/PowerRangers:
** Series/PowerRangersLightspeedRescue has Vypra, who wears one of the most Stripperific outfits in the entire franchise.
** Series/PowerRangersDinoThunder plays with this as OneShotCharacter Nikki Valentina definitely fits this trope, but it's her last name that starts with a V.
** Subverted in Series/PowerRangersMysticForce where Vida is the stereotypically alluring Pink Ranger. Yet the first thing you notice about her is an aggressive personality, BoyishShortHair and punk rock style clothes.
** Defied in Series/PowerRangersOperationOverdrive as Veronica prefers to go by Ronny. Although she's still sought after by Norse Gods.
* Series/PushingDaisies had a one-shot character named Veronica Villanueva (combining this trope with AlliterativeName), who was SoBeautifulItsACurse.
* Victoria Metcalfe, the dangerous bank robber who was also alluring and seductive to Constable Fraser and nearly ruined and killed him on Series/DueSouth
* Vicki from Series/TheVampireDiaries.
* The titular character from Series/VeronicaMars. Although to some this feels more like an InformedAttractiveness, everyone in-universe appeared to find her sexy.
* Will from Series/TheFreshPrinceOfBelAir was quite taken with Valerie in Grumpy Old Men.
* Valerie Malone from Series/BeverlyHills90210

* The UrExample may come from Myth/ClassicalMythology, whose resident LoveGoddess was called Venus (in Rome, at least -- her original Greek name was Aphrodite).
* One name for the Lady of the Lake in Arthurian legend is Viviane. Obviously she isn't really "sexy" in a traditional sense (in most interpretations anyway), but is mysterious and powerful, and the name adds to that.
** Merlin's apprentice is also sometimes referred to as Vivaine or Nivian, and she's a rather more sexualized figure.

* Vittorio Vidal in Theatre/SweetCharity (male example).

* Vincent Valentine from VideoGame/FinalFantasyVII (male example).
* Vanessa from VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters.

** Who shared a voice actress with Viconia de Vir in Franchise/BaldursGate.
** The sequels include characters named Varric and Vivienne. In a Subversion, neither are romance options for any race or gender.
* Velvet "V.V." Velour from VideoGame/VampireTheMasqueradeBloodlines. It's easy to overlook the small fact that she is technically dead. In fact an InvokedTrope, as her real name is quite ordinary. She became "V.V." as the owner of a strip club.
* Vanessa Z. Schneider from VideoGame/PN03.
* Valentine from VideoGame/Skullgirls
** Her real name is Valerie as well.
** On the side character/potential DLC side theres Mrs.Victoria, her alter ego D. Violet, and Venus.
* Velvet from VideoGame/OdinSphere. Who is also the Stripperiffic most fanservicey character, with several [=NPCs=] lampshading her appearance.
* Velvet Crowe from VideoGame/TalesOfBerseria, who is the most fanservicey member of the main cast.
* VideoGame/Valis is IAmNotShazam not the name of the heroine, though it is the name of her ChainmailBikini.
* The Beauty class in VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver includes trainers named Victoria and Valerie.
* Victor Vance from VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoViceCityStories
* Garrus Vakarian from VideoGame/MassEffect is so sexy he can be part of an InterspeciesRomance with a female Shepard, and makes fans question their sexualities. His attractive qualities include his CowboyCop behavior, a battle scar in the second and third game, and of course, his voice.
* Veronica Vera from Shadow Hearts: Covenant.

* Veronica Reed from Webcomic/QuestionableContent is a kink model under the name Veronica Vance.
* Valerie from Webcomic/SluggyFreelance is certainly drawn to look fairly sexy, and is Torg's first real love interest. And she's a vampire to boot.
* WebComic/FurryExperience: Vikki, a vixen, is shown to be the sexy one out the the girls usually shown, and has had the most revealing outfit to date.

* Vanessa, codename Vox, of the Literature/WhateleyUniverse. Girlfriend of Phase, and regarded as one of the hot freshman girls at SuperheroSchool Whateley Academy. To top it off, she's a Siren.

* Found in Vanessa from WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb, of all places.
* Chef's succubus girlfriend Veronica from WesternAnimation/SouthPark.
* WesternAnimation/Archer had movie star Veronica Deane, whom nearly all of them men in the core group found irresistible (even Ray thought she was a knockout).

* Veronica Varlow of Music/EmilieAutumn's backup band. She's also known as The Naughty Veronica; she used to be a pinup model and a burlesque actress.
* The name "Vanessa" was coined by Jonathan Swift (of Literature/GulliversTravels fame) to refer to his longtime lover, Esther Vanhomrigh. TropeMaker?
* Not a person, but the Victoria's Secret lingerie company certainly.
* Sultry 1940s actress Creator/VeronicaLake, who was a popular pin-up girl. Her birth name was Constance Frances Marie Ockelman.
* Actress Victoria Vetri was sexy and beautiful. You're most likely to remember her from Film/RosemarysBaby, where she played Terry, using her stage name Angela Dorian. Rosemary says "I thought you were Victoria Vetri" as an in-joke and she responds "A lot of people think I'm Victoria". (In the book, Rosemary thinks she is Anna Maria Alberghetti).
* A "venus" (named after the aforementioned LoveGoddess) is an artistic portrayal of a beautiful nude woman. For example, the Venus de Milo.
* Controversial pickup artist and antifeminist Daryush Valizadeh goes by the nickname "Roosh V." As a pickup artist, seduction is kind of his gimmick, but it's unclear if he chose that nickname in an attempt to invoke this trope.
