-->-- '''Simon''', Part 5: "The Legend of Pig Island"

The Minecraft Series is a catch-all description for the ''{{Yogscast}}'' content based around ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}''. It started as a LetsPlay of the sandbox game ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' with Lewis and Simon on the flagship [=BlueXephos=] channel. However, after a few unusual events and weird encounters with a mysterious character named Israphel it grew into an ambitious {{Machinima}}.

From late 2010 through early 2012, the bulk of the Minecraft series was composed of a semi-improvised comedy drama, where Lewis and Simon "play" the parts of a Xephos, a heroic "Spaceman", and Honeydew, a mighty dwarf, respectively. The series is set in the fictional land of Minecraftia, where Xephos and Honeydew encounter a range of colorful characters, and, by virtue of their talent and skill (or a succession of lucky flukes), become worshiped as mighty heroes by the citizens of the land. This series is known ''Shadow of Israphel'', though a survival multiplayer ''Minecraft'' and Survival Island series are generally considered to be a part of this series, with the [=BlueXephos=] channel lumping together the somewhat narratively linked series under the [=YouTube=] playlist "[[http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF60520313D07F366 Minecraft Survival Multiplayer/ SoI]]".

Other videos in the series include custom map play throughs, series showcasing ''Minecraft'' mods such as [=YogLabs=], and ''Minecraft'' update coverage. There have also been series based on the a custom ''Minecraft'' mod pack using the Feed the Beast launcher called [=YogCraft=] (transitioned from Tekkit), described as "a little bit like Tekkit, a little bit like Feast the Beast, but it's [=YogCraft=]", featuring Duncan and Sjin and a whole lot of other members across several channels as well as Voltz, focusing on the team of Lewis/Duncan (and later Simon) and Sips/Sjin (and later Ridgedog), a mod pack based around the Galacticraft mod mostly used by Lewis, Simon, Duncan, Sips, Sjin and Kim, the Yogscast Complete mod pack with several members (based on Resonant Rise) and a Survival ''Minecraft'' series with Sips and Sjin.

In 2014, a comedic series of animated sketches featuring the voices of Ross and Trott (along with archival footage from the older series) called ''Israphel Animated'' was started. This ostensibly shows what Israphel and his skeleton minion was doing to defeat Lewis and Simon while Lewis and Simon were off playing other ''Minecraft'' mods.

[[foldercontrol]]

[[folder: The series as a whole]]
* AccidentalInnuendo: Often invoked and lampshaded by the other saying "I'm sorry?"
* ActionBomb: Creepers.
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: The hostile mobs, supposedly, and, according to Simon, cows.
* AntiHero: Simon and Lewis.
* AscendedExtra: Professor Grizwald only appeared in writing in an adventure map, but his memorable [[LargeHam voice acting]] done by Simon made him into a [[OneSceneWonder One Episode Wonder]] that made him become a part of the ''Shadow of Israphel'' backstory (spelled "Grizwold") in the Legend of Verigan special.
* AttackAttackRetreatRetreat: They have often chased an enemy, found several more enemies (or just one they didn't expect) and quickly backed off. Doesn't usually help.
* BadAss: Simon is constantly zigzagging in and out of this, quickly dealing with zombies and skeletons one episode and being afraid of a single Creeper the next. Lewis does this as well, though to a lesser extent.
* BerserkButton: Simon doesn't appreciate enemies attacking him in the middle of speaking.
-->''"You little bugger! [[CatchPhrase Come 'eeere!]]"''
* BigEater: In-game, Simon and Lewis constantly ingest an ungodly amount of pork, bread, fish, cake, soup, and cookies. This is mostly due to them constantly being hurt as a result of their own clumsiness.
* BowAndSwordInAccord: Simon and Lewis go with this - Simon more often using the Bow, and Lewis more often using the Sword, but they do take turns. How much it helps them out is up for debate.
* BreadEggsMilkSquick: In ''Screw The Nether'':
--> '''Lewis''': [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment All my clothes are dirty and filthy]] [[TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers and on fire...]]
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS: For a shortish period in 2011, Honeydew had an S (for Simon...and Superman) emblazoned on his chest.
* ButtMonkey:
** Simon. He seems to always be the first one enemies go after. He also doesn't see [[MeaningfulName Creepers]] when they sneak up on him (and Lewis only remembers to warn him some of the time), usually causing him to be stealth-bombed.
** Lewis as well, though mainly due to Simon hitting him for seemingly no reason.
* CanineCompanion: Wolves, whenever any of the Minecrafters have one. They usually die after a few minutes.
* CatchPhrase:
** Simon's "Follow me!" and "Cooooome 'eeeeeeere!" ("Come here!")
** Simon's girlish "Awwww!" along with Lewis' somewhat less girlish one.
** Lewis and Simon call each other "Friend" or "Pal" an awful lot.
*** Lampshaded somewhat when they first arrive at the Mistral City graveyard and find their pre-planned graves. The prepared epitaph on Xephos's (Lewis's) grave is, rather touchingly, "Goodbye, Friends!"
*** Any official merchandise is sent with a thank-you card containing the message "Thanks for the support, Friend!"
** Humming the chest opening music from ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' whenever they find some rare treasure. The "found a secret" from the same series and a simple angelic choir sound also pops up in a similar fashion.
** The charming but odd way Simon says "Hellloooooo!"
** "Balls to it" and variations.
** Asking/saying that someone's "Ballsed it up" whenever someone severely screws something up.
** "Hooraaaaaay!" whenever they escape a deadly situation or find something good. Simon tends to say this more, with Lewis sometimes following up with his less-excited one.
** Simon says "WHOOP" when trying to be cautious or coming very close to danger.
** The Diggy Diggy Hole song, as well as all of its variations.
** Lewis' "hup!" when ever he does a jumping puzzle.
** Fuckin' Hell's bells
** [[BigNo Nooooooo!!!]] Why would you do that?!!
** See you later, shitlord!
** "This is A-MA-zing..!"
** Simon's "What game is this?" or "It's like a [[LargeHam whooooole]] new game!" whenever there's and update to the game or they test a mod, no matter HOW minor the change. Seriously, he almost uttered this after taking off a jack-o-lantern and being able to see clearly again.
* TheChewToy: Lewis is sometimes subjected to this, with Simon hitting him for no real reason at all, to cheer him up, when he is pissed, because he wants to dye him black, to knock him ''over'' a bottomless pit, or because he's "pressing" him.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Simon and Lewis. They spend a good bit of the journey goofing off, causing [[StuffBlowingUp property damage]], [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny getting distracted by shiny objects]] and generally having a laugh. And then an NPC does something like try to attack a wall they're rebuilding or [[ItsPersonal torture a character they like]] and they kick so much arse it's unbelievable.
* DeadpanSnarker: Simon and Lewis both manage this when the other is being particularly silly or dense.
* GenreSavvy: Lewis is generally like this when he isn't off being an IdiotHero with Simon.
* GuestStarPartyMember:
** Some ''Shadow of Israphel'' [=NPCs=] participate in non-''Shadow of Israphel'' videos. For example, Fumblemore was participating in the first livestream event, and Old_Peculier helped the Yogscast explain the 1.2 Beta update. Fumblemore also tagged along in the Yogscast's adventure in the "Super Hostile Canopy Carnage" maps, along with [[spoiler:Swampy_Bogbeard]].
* HellBentForLeather: When the duo isn't dressed in stronger armor already given to them for a big battle, Simon normally takes weaker armor when he and Lewis have to share. This usually means leather. This is because Lewis ostensibly needs the more durable armor for the hits he will inevitably take, as he is the aggressive melee fighter, while Simon, who is an Archer, doesn't get hit quite as much, unless an enemy gets the drop on him from behind. [[StuffBlowingUp Or a creeper is anywhere near him]]. [[RunningGag Which is always]].
* HitAndRunTactics: The typical method of dealing with creepers when playing ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}''.
* HonorBeforeReason: In their earlier videos. When presented with a "jumping across lava" challenge, they decide that they won't tunnel around the lava or just make a pathway across because it isn't in the spirit of the challenge. Their later videos...well, given all the "/give Xephos 46 1" that goes on whenever they can't solve a challenge, this can safely be called total aversion.
-->''I don't like cheating. I've never liked cheating.''
--->'''Lewis''', [[CharacterizationMarchesOn Minecraft episode 15]]
-->''Well, we did try''
--->'''Lewis in the tourist adventure map, right before cheating.'''
* IdiotHero:
** Simon is quite naive whenever it comes to puzzles, traps, or communication with [=NPCs=].
** Arguably ''both'' Lewis and Simon are this, though Lewis isn't quite as bad, especially at communication.
* ImprobableWeaponUser:
** [[KillItWithFire Simon's flint and tinder, and temporarily Lewis's bucket of lava.]] Lampshaded by them, too, calling it their nonconventional weapons of choice.
* IneptMage: [[MeaningfulName Fumblemore]].
* KleptomaniacHero: Taken to almost an art form; the only thing stopping Simon and Lewis from mining out entire buildings for loot in ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' is a combination of a [[ShopliftAndDie watchful NPC]] and their own incompetence.
** This is just ridiculous with them. In some episodes, Lewis stole arrows from dispenser traps whenever they come across one. Possibly justified, since the arrows would hurt them if the dispensers were activated, which is nearly unavoidable. Plus they need arrows because they use their bows a lot. And technically there [[LoopholeAbuse ain't no rule ''against'']] stealing arrows from the dispensers.
* KillItWithFire:
** Seems to be Simon's preferred method of combat, other than being the bowman of the pair. Bonus fit, seeing as how a good half of the vanilla creatures they fight in ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' are supernatural (Zombies and Skeletons).
--->'''Simon:''' [[http://youtu.be/GLnJG6U2bKM?t=43s KILL IT! Burn it with fire!]]
** Lewis temporarily adopted this way of fighting as well with a ''bucket of lava'' and [[HitAndRunTactics kiting]].
* TheLancer: Played with a little bit, but Simon is arguably this, while Lewis is the one who comes up with most of their ideas and communicates with most of the [=NPCs=]. The Yogscast Wiki also claims that Lewis is the de facto leader of the duo.
* LargeHam: '''A PRIME EXAMPLE OF THIS TROPE WOULD BE THE BRILLIANT PROFESSOR GRIIZZZWAAAAAALLLD!!! HE YELLS EVERYTHING HE SAAAAAYYYYS!!!'''
** Somehow made even more hammy in the Calmere Nightmare adventure map:
-->'''Simon''': Am I hamming it up just a little bit too much?
-->'''Lewis''': You're like [[Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration Jean-Luc Picard]] doing [[Creator/WilliamShakespeare Shakespeare]].
* LetsPlay: What the {{Minecraft}} videos were before the addition of [=NPCs=] and a story arc.
** The custom map playthroughs are straight examples of this.
** Shadow of Israphel is still basically this, in so far as they're playing a game and recording their commentary in reaction to it (they've said in interviews they aren't told the story, so their commentary is mostly unscripted). The game just isn't being played as intended.
* MadLibsCatchPhrase:
** "That's a very nice everything you have here" occasionally replaces "everything" with something else, depending on the situation.
** "I'm an X, and I'm Y-ing a Z..."
** "X, AWAY!" Where X was first "Sean Bean", then most famously "Swampy", and later just "Simon", who does the same voice every time.
* MagicMisfire: Happens a lot when [[IneptMage Fumblemore]] tries to cast spells, with [[StuffBlowingUp explosive results]] (except when he makes the HealingPotion for [[spoiler: Old Peculier]] or {{Fli|ght}}es).
* OnlySaneMan: Lewis is sometimes subjected to this whenever Simon starts making impulsive decisions.
%% SOI technically does not count, though it is on a long hiatus.
* OrphanedSeries:
** [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]] with [=MoonQuest=] and surprisingly [[AvertedTrope averted]] with Voltz, despite the fanbase thinking so. Voltz really was finished, as shown by the fact that the final episode didn't have a "Next Episode" button at the end unlike the other videos (That, and it had one [[StuffBlowingUp glorious finale]] to justify ending it). [=MoonQuest=] was deemed dead for a while after [[spoiler: Simon crashed on the moon]], with most people blaming him for killing it, but they uploaded a new episode two weeks later involving [[spoiler: a rescue mission]]. Moonquest later went on to become Marsquest, and then went on to [[spoiler:the Jaffa factory]].
** Sort of happened with Feed the World owing to the Heartbleed patch.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Dwarves, if it will be taking any material from WoW. Played straight with Simon's character, Honeydew, who is quite proud of his heritage.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Simon.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: The Yogscast became bored with their first Tekkit server and decided to start a new one, giving rise to Duncan and Sjin's world-destroying war, and then to Rythian's story of getting revenge on them for it.
* RecordNeedleScratch: In the Yogscast Teaches Athene Minecraft video, the Yogscast theme is interrupted to play another track.
* RedOniBlueOni: Simon is red, eager to cause damage and wreak havoc and clearly the most spirited about this experiment. Lewis is blue, thinking things through sometimes too carefully, and hardly unnerved. During Planetoids in ''{{Minecraft}}'', while Simon was loudly crying over mobs spawning, at night, left alone, and having died earlier, Lewis ignored him and commented on how the clouds were "causing some trouble for him."
** [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] with in their Tekkit game where Lewis has a sapphire pick-axe and Simon has a ruby one.
* RunningGag: They always run into a Creeper (an enemy that explodes) every few episodes or so and they almost always [[LudicrousGibs explode.]]
** Explosions in general, considering their tried-and-tested way of solving puzzles in ''{{Minecraft}}''. "/give Honeydew 46 1" (the server command to give Simon a block of TNT) has become a fan in-joke in its own right.
--->'''Simon:''' Fuck it, let's do this the Yogscast way.
** Lewis and Simon completely flipping their shits over the sight of a monster.
** Simon's several love interests. First Daisy_Duke, then Granny_Bacon, then [[spoiler:Isabel_Peculier]]. [[spoiler: Possibly justified considering that the first two were kidnapped (and in Granny's case, killed) shortly.]]
** Lewis says something which is AccidentalInnuendo, and Simon says "I'm sorry?" [[invoked]]
--->'''Lewis:''' I need to go get some wood.\\
'''Simon:''' I'm sorry?
** Simon punching Lewis down holes and ladders in adventure maps.
** Their hatred of jumping puzzles, especially ones with lava.
** Simon and Lewis have also come to hate lever and button puzzles as well.
** There's been various mentions of a character named "Bob", usually to break or mock a serious mood.
** Simon's breaking of the laws of physics perplexing Skylord_Lysander seems to be becoming one of these.
** Going "Blehhh" whenever they drop items via the Q key.
* SequenceBreaking: What happens with excessive use of TNT. In the third part of their playthrough of the Forgotten Temple, they ''[[TheDevTeamThinksOfEverything stumble upon a message from the mapmaker]] [[WhatTheHellHero asking what they]]'' [[note]](the cheaters, who had apparently skipped to the end)[[/note]] ''[[WhatTheHellHero were doing]]''.
** In their ''Shadow of Israphel'' series, [[spoiler: after escaping Grimjaw's little dungeon thing with Tinman, Simon and Lewis got separated from Tinman by being [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny distracted]] by a giant dragon sculpture. They ended up hiding in a tomb of some kind because of a thunderstorm and giant enemy ZergRush instead of heading back to Barbecue Bay like Tinman did.]] They soon lampshaded this when they left, with one of them saying they probably "weren't supposed to be there yet."
* ShoutOut:
** "Maybe we should just get up on the wall and [[Film/MontyPythonAndTheHolyGrail swear at him]] until he's forced to retreat."
** "There's probably something on [[HomePage TV Tropes]] about that."
** Simon and Lewis remark on how [[IneptMage Fumblemore]] is probably a reference to [[Literature/HarryPotter Dumbledore]].
*** "I have a good idea who did this. [[Literature/HarryPotter He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named]]."
** At one point, Fumblemore asks, "Can [[{{Magicka}} wizards swim]] in this game?"
** A reformed Creeper in Mistral City is named Astley, and Lewis was afraid he might get RickRoll'd.
** "[[Film/TheDarkKnight Why so serious? ...If he asks you if you want to see a trick, just say "no, not interested".]]
** Apparently, the papers to climb the Skylords' tower are blank because they're [[Series/DoctorWho psychic]]. Lewis and Simon also assume that the Skylords are related to the Time Lords.
** The two leads are a dwarf from [[VideoGame/WorldOfWarcraft Khaz Modan]] and [[Series/StarTrekTheNextGeneration William Thomas Riker]].
** "[[TheWombles Underground, underground, zombling free, The Zombles of Terrordale ah-are we...]]" %%Simon pronounced it Terrordale.
** "What can I do for you [[VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue Zapdos]]?"
** The undead pirate dwarf called [[VideoGame/MonkeyIsland LeChuck]].
** The house from ''WesternAnimation/{{Up}}'' is behind Dread Pirate Norris' ship.
** "[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaI It's dangerous to go alone! Take this!]] [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime ...Hey, listen!]]"
** "[[Literature/CharlieAndTheChocolateFactory Up and out, like the Great Glass Elevator.]]"
** "[[Franchise/StarTrek POWER FIST!]]"
** Episode 30 of ''Shadow of Israphel'' is titled ''GhostInTheShell''.
** "It's turtles all the way down" from Episode 30 is a reference to the first chapter of StephenHawking's ''A Brief History of Time''.
** The last episode of the first season ends in a manner similar to an episode of ''Series/{{Lost}}'', with the logo slowly rotating and the exact same sound playing as in the show.
** "[[Film/TheRoom I did not do it! It naht. Oh hai Lewis.]]"
** They reference the ''Series/{{Supernatural}}'' method of killing vampires a couple of times.
** "[[VideoGame/PlantsVsZombies There's a zombie in the mi-ine!~]]"
** ''"That's a very nice X you have there..."'' is a (very frequent) reference to the popular ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'' meme, which ironically became even more popular with their series.
** Simon has taken to humming the ''TheFlintstones'' theme song whenever Lewis mentions bedrock.
* StuffBlowingUp:
** This is what happens whenever Simon gets his hands on some TNT.
** This is [[IneptMage Fumblemore's]] modus operandi.
** Creeper_Boss.
* StylisticSuck: Their 2.5 million subscriber special, which was a trailer for a ''Shadow of Israphel'' movie that isn't actually being made. Features BadBadActing, {{Corpsing}}, and [[SpecialEffectFailure Special Effect Failures]] (particularly with greenscreening).
** The highlight would have to be when Simon and Lewis "meet" and go for a handshake...which doesn't look like one at all due to the greenscreening having Lewis closer to the camera than Simon and their hands not being synchronized at all.
* ThisIsForEmphasisBitch: "Man up, bitch!"
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Jaffa cakes.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Simon and Lewis [[DeadpanSnarker snark at each other]], snap at each other (especially when stressed), hit each other and on one memorable occasion Lewis outright kills Simon's character so [[ItMakesSenseInContext he can become the Grim Reaper]]. Similar stuff goes on in all their other videos. But hugging is also attempted, and the odd moment of comedic sappiness making it blatantly obvious they're good friends.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Simon's character, Honeydew.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes:
** Even considering they once defended the wall near Verigan's Hold from their boss, Simon and Lewis ''will'' panic if a Creeper is nearby. Simon also tends to go utterly berserk around spiders.
** Bees in ''Minecraft'' are something of a sore spot for Lewis, Simon, Duncan and Sjin (especially Simon and Duncan), since it directly related to what they felt [[invoked]] caused the Jaffa Factory series to [[JumpingTheShark jump the shark]] and get canned for [=MoonQuest=].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Israphel saga]]
* ActionSurvivor: Old_Peculier, who is a retired knight, has a smattering of prowess with the sword (enough to keep him from becoming TheLoad), but is not as good as Simon or Lewis, and needs to rest often and drink a ton of water because of his age. [[spoiler:This is then subverted twice, but in two different ways. First, he becomes TheLoad because of [[TheVirus The Taint]]. Then, he [[TookALevelInBadass takes a level in badass]] and becomes Knight_Peculier.]]
* AdventureTowns: First was Terrorvale, a small, out-of-the-way town with only three [=NPCs=] and a couple quests [[spoiler:built on top of a vast cave system]]. Then came Mistral City, an immense city of airships, floating castles, shops, [=NPCs=] and even a mine dungeon, [[spoiler:now burnt to a crisp then entirely covered by trees thanks to Swampy]]. Then there was the Carnivale de Banjo, a carnival owned by an eccentric man. Then came Barbecue Bay, a port under siege from pirates [[spoiler:built right on top of a nether portal]]. Then was the Skyhold, home to the Skylords and new location of the Carnivale. Then was Stoneholm, subterranean home to the dwarves.
* AllohistoricalAllusion: In the ''Legend of Verigan'' flashback, Simon and Lewis have fun debating the strange green exploding monsters, how they tend to creep up on people, and how they seem to be made out of those (creeper) vines that grow on trees, and end up dubbing them "viners".
* TheAloner: [=PirateTinman=], who has been trapped in Grimmjaw's teasure hold for decades because two people are required to solve the first puzzle. [[spoiler:Ends up being ditched ''again'' by the Yogscast duo because they couldn't figure out the proper way to solve the final puzzle, but somehow manages to get out of the puzzle anyway, HandWave'd in a parody animation in the beginning of one of the next episodes.]]
* AmusementPark: Carnivale del Banjo. Lampshaded; Simon and Lewis refer to the local [=NPCs=] as "carny folk" and suspect them of cheating them out of money.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: While in Madame Nubescu's scrying chamber, you can see one of the signs labeling the contents of the chests around the room says "Tomes of Nightmare, Prophecy and Tasty Cooking".
** [[spoiler: His grandson (Prof_Webley), who they encountered in Episode 40, has joined the duo on their adventure. Sadly, he seems to be TheLoad more than anything else.]]
* AssShove: How [=PirateTinman=] plays the security tape.
-->'''Simon:''' Oh God, he's going to bend over and slip the disk between his butt cheeks.\\
'''[=PirateTinman:=]''' *Bends over*\\
'''Simon:''' ''Oh my God, he is as well!''
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: One of the reasons why it takes a while for anything to get done is that Lewis and Simon, to their own admission, keep getting distracted by interesting things that have no baring in the story.
* AwesomeMcCoolname: In ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 24, Lewis refers to his diamond sword as his "Diamond Sword of Awesome" after he [[spoiler: gets accidentally killed by Simon and loses it]].
* BadFuture: Appears in a [[spoiler:map-fragment induced vision]] in ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 25.
* BerserkButton: Do '''not''' make any sort of threat to Daisy's safety! Old/Knight_Peculier WILL kill you! [[spoiler: King_Finbar learned this the hard way.]]
* BigBad: [[spoiler:Israphel, or at least the closest by far.]]
* BigDamnHeroes: [=PirateTinman=], [[spoiler:who saved Isabel from Israphel in a flashback.]]
* BiggerOnTheInside: The "plane crafting table" in ''Shadow of Israphel'' episode 27.
* BigNo:
** Simon goes to town with a particularly large one when they discover [[spoiler: the Yogcave has been destroyed]] at the start of ''Shadow of Israphel''.
** Simon also just does this whenever something bad happens, like him or Lewis dying, Old_Peculier passing out, or [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Lewis killing Daisy the cow]].
** Played tragically straight by Simon in Episode 38 [[spoiler: when Knight_Peculier falls into the lava and dies.]]
* {{Bizarrchitecture}}: Fumblemore's house, which he always rebuilds differently when he destroys part of it with a particularly destructive spell.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: Good guys are good, bad guys are bad, and it's just a question of who is on which side in the end. Especially since the good guys are also {{Idiot Hero}}es.
* BlackComedyRape: Ep. 26, though it's only implied.
** DoubleStandardRapeMaleOnMale
** There's just as much implication that it ''wasn't'' rape. Which just makes it funnier.
* BlackSpot: The pirates describe the fragment of Karpath's map as this.
* BlatantLies:
** ''Down there just be hard tack and bilging gear.''
** I just went for a piss...I didn't burn anything....I DIDN'T BURN HIM!!!
* BookEnds: A bit before discovering the town full of [=NPCs=], Lewis and Simon build a portal to the Nether (which doesn't work). [[spoiler: At the end of the season, they are at the same portal, preparing to venture into it. However, they end up not trying to enter until the start of season three, with season two being more of a breather season. And the portal ''still'' doesn't work.]]
** Season three starts with [[spoiler: the ''Celaeno'' on fire, and Simon and Lewis trying to reclaim their Survival Island items from the wreckage.]] Much later (though not at the end of the series, but at the end of an important part), they find [[spoiler: Mistral City also on fire, and are trying to reclaim items from the wreckage. This time, specifically the Holy Record from the church.]]
** In Survival Island (a custom map that eventually starts having slight relevance to the main plot), they are in a slight hurry at the start to get coal for torches. Near the end, they again go looking for coal, this time to [[spoiler: fuel the airship that will take them home.]]
* BrainBleach: Both Lewis and Skylord_Lysander reach for the Super Whitening Extra Strength variety when they hear certain... noises coming from the Greasy Spoon Shoppe during Simon's fling with Granny_Bacon.
* TheCameo:
** [[Creator/TheCynicalBrit TotalBiscuit]]'s grave is in one of the ''Shadow of Israphel'' videos.
** [=TotalBiscuit=], Notch, and deadmau5 seem to cameo occasionally in side events such as [[spoiler:Granny_Bacon's funeral]] and a livestream event, but they're actually all bots.
* CampGay: Skylord_Jasper
* CanineCompanion:
** Fumblemore had one in the "Legend of Verigan" livestream before it burned to death.
** Angus_Eyeless has a dog.
* CerebusSyndrome: From the 100% light-hearted beginning as a tutorial teaching others how to play ''{{Minecraft}}'', to a highly popular dramedy series with an epic soundtrack, both the plot and the characters mature and become grimly serious. Meanwhile, Simon and Lewis do not (for the most part). Played for some laughs with MoodWhiplash, as the presence of the two heroes stops some well-written scenes that could've been pulled from a horror movie from being downright nightmarish. Such as episode 38's horrific aftermath of some guy who ''ripped his own bones out'' that is glanced over by Simon hitting Lewis with an arm and laughing at the slapping sound it makes.
* ChaosArchitecture: Lysander describes Fumblemore's floating tower as having this.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Skylord_Jasper started out as extremely loud and extremely angry all the time. He even threatens to murder Lysander for stealing his towels. The only hint that he might have homosexual tendencies is his preference for pink in his home and Lysander calling him a "fag" while distracting him.[[spoiler: When he reappears in ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 26 he is no longer aggressive toward the heroes, he is flamboyantly [[CampGay gay]], and he's calling Lysander "lover", making him ''outstandingly'' uncomfortable.]]
* ChekhovsGun:
** The [[spoiler:sand]] that always seems to appear in odd places during the ''Shadow of Israphel'' series.
** The "Cave of Terror," seen in the first episode, turned out to be not a cave at all, just the underside of a cliff. They decide to use this place to set up a portal to the Nether, which doesn't work. [[spoiler: Turns out it may have resurrected Israphel from the dead, allowing him to let evil spread through the world once again.]]
** The pumpkins' HeadsUpDisplay, originally just something silly and lighthearted becomes important when the pumpkins ([[ItMakesSenseInContext now TVs]]) held a cryptic clue to [[spoiler:find the third map fragment]] in their [=HUDs=].
* ChivalrousPervert: Simon has shown shades of this, with his many love interests, who he seems to have only found attractive because of their looks. For further proof, watch the introduction to ''Shadow of Israphel'' episodes 21-23.
* ClipShow: The latter half of ''Shadow of Israphel'' Episode 35, being told by Knight_Peculier.
* CoDragons: [[spoiler:Jock_Fireblast, Reverend_John, Creeper_Boss and Zombie_Boss to Israphel]]
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: In part 10 of Survival Island, Lewis discovers the Temple of the Lost Curator...while Simon is distracted by all the iron and coal that's in front of it.
** When Lewis, Simon, and Old_Peculier come across [[spoiler: the Hellgate the former two made much earlier on]]:
-->'''Simon:''' "OH MY GOD!"\\
'''Lewis:''' "OH MY GOD! [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny A sheep just fell out of the sky!]]"
** A hilarious (Acted out) one is given by Simon in "The Jackal and the Cave", when they come across a gruesome cave painting depicting The Jackal mauling a small group of people.
-->'''Simon:''' "Okay, okay, I think I can understand this. [[TooDumbToLive See, these three guys have been having a barbecue, and this is an x-ray view, showing that they've eaten a bunch of hot dogs]] [[note]]Actually a bunch of bloody claw marks.[[/note]], and that black swirly thing in the background [[note]]Actually an image of The Jackal that has been scratched out[[/note]] is the smoke, coming from the grill."
* CoolAirship: Skylords Jasper and Lysander have one, with Mistral City acting as the main port.
* CrewOfOne:
** The airships don't seem to have any crew other than a Skylord captaining it, plus passengers.
--->'''Lewis:''' Well I assume it's more than one person on there. It's quite a big thing. Maybe it's one guy though.
* CuttingTheKnot: Simon and Lewis come to a door with a puzzle lock mechanism. Lewis tries to figure out the puzzle when [[spoiler: Sim grabs some TNT and blows up the door]].
* DeadpanSnarker:
** Peculier has his moments.
-->"The signal tower doesn't need to be that bright..."
** Lysander too.
* DeadPersonConversation: [[spoiler:Simon and Lewis have a very revealing one with Verigan in a vision in ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 25, showing them that Israphel will take over the word if they fail.]]
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: In ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 12,
--> '''Mr_Banjo''': "This is a beautiful and exciting and fun and exciting place!"
* DestructiveSavior: Where they go, explosions, fire, and stolen items tend to follow.
* DiskOneFinalBoss: Episodes 15 and 16 of ''Shadow of Israphel'' are all about this, consisting of [[spoiler: Simon and Lewis rescuing a wounded Old_Peculier from a deserted guard tower, and then ending up in an epic battle against [[BigBad Israphel]] and his hordes of minions,and repairing the wall while the enemy is regrouping. All the while, the three are constantly bombarded by a ZergRush of spiders, and forced to deal with [[TheCorruption The Sand]] everywhere.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: [[spoiler: Simon traps Strongman_Bruno in a tree as revenge for him cheating him out of a victory in a contest of strength.]]
* DistressedDamsel: Twice; first [[spoiler:Daisy_Duke, who is currently somewhere in the Nether]], then [[spoiler:Granny_Bacon, who didn't last very long]]. Both of which were Simon's (very temporary) love interests, funny enough.
* DistressedDude: [[spoiler:Knight_Peculier in ''Shadow of Israphel'' episode 15]]
* [[spoiler:DoomedHometown: The Yogcave, which was blown to smithereens by Israphel. Stoneholm is this for Honeydew and Spacker [=LeChuck=], as the people were enslaved by their resurrected king, and most of the populace was turned into zombies.]]
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: [[spoiler:Knight_Peculier]]'s death is out of nowhere and painfully anticlimactic. It takes Lewis several seconds to even realize what happened.
** [[spoiler:Um_Bongo]]'s death is also very sudden, but unlike the above example it didn't appear to be scripted, but instead the result of a poorly aimed jump.
* DropTheHammer: Simon inexplicably has one while playing as Verigan in the Legend of Verigan charity livestream.
* DugTooDeep: Simon says this word for word when exploring the Deepcore Tunnels in part 33.
* DumbMuscle: Strongman_Bruno.
* EmoTeen: Simon's description of Young!Fumblemore.
* EpicFail:
** When Simon, Lewis, and Skylord_Lysander try to sneak into Skylord_Jasper's house, the use a waterfall to quietly make their way down. Skylord Lysander doesn't make it in, and instead gets washed off of the roof.
** Every time Lewis and Simon try to build themselves a bridge or stairs to walk across a gap or get out of a hole. After playing Minecraft so much, you'd think they would have some clue about how to do it properly, but as seen in their attempt to rescue Um_Bongo in ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 29, Lewis always manages to block someone else's way with a misplaced block and doesn't even try to break it, while Simon just forgets to put something to stay on under himself BEFORE walking towards empty space and falls from the Skyhold.
-->'''Um_Bongo:''' "Don't take me with you down there."
** Surprisingly, Creeper_Boss does this in his first appearance. While Simon and Lewis had to actually fight Zombie_Boss, Creeper_Boss just [[StuffBlowingUp blows himself up]] before the heroes can attack, and only deals slight damage. He's more careful in future episodes, though.
* EvilOverlord: [[spoiler: What Israphel will apparently become if the duo fails, resulting in the BadFuture seen in their vision.]]
* EvilVersusEvil: [[spoiler:the pirate ship battle between Grimmjaw_Slugface and Jock_Fireblast.]]
* ExactTimeToFailure: As of the ending of Episode 34, [[spoiler: an ancient Sand God wakes up]] and the world ends in 3 days, 7 hours.
* FailOSuckyname: Lewis notes his player-invulnerability makes him like a superhero. Simon then grants him the names of Uselessnoobman and Terribleatcomputergames Fella.
* FarSideIsland: Survival Island pretty much starts off this way.
* FetchQuest: To make a cure for [[spoiler:Old_Peculier]], Fumblemore requested a bucket of water (of life), dirt, feathers, creeper powder, and two golden apples. The two golden apples themselves had to obtained by getting diamonds for Granny_Bacon and a record for Father_Braeburn, and stealing them from another NPC. The result? [[spoiler: A bucket of muddy water with two golden apples and some feathers in it.]]
** Another fetch quest appears in Stoneholm. Moira_Magmabloom requires gold, lava, and beer to forge the key to the next area. The result? [[spoiler: She gives the duo a lever. Knight_Peculier [[LampshadeHanging Lampshades]] it this time, asking why the duo didn't just make one themselves.]]
* FindTheCure:
** For [[spoiler:Old_Peculier]], as he was tainted by Israphel in ''Shadow of Israphel''.
** Later, for [[spoiler:Skylord_Baaku]] in Skyhold. Subverted when [[spoiler:Nubescu and/or the Yogscast had the ingredients available]]. Double subverted when [[spoiler:it only delayed his curse]].
* FlatWhat:
** [[spoiler:Lysander]] gives us one after Simon dismounts from a plane indoors and teleports through a ceiling in episode 27 of ''Shadow of Israphel''.
** Father Braeburn has a blink and you miss it one when Lewis falls off the sky platforms, dies, and then comes back and gets his stuff a few minutes later from where he fell.
* FloatingContinent: [[spoiler: Skyhold]]
* FortuneTeller: Madame_Nubescu.
* FrothyMugsOfWater: Inverted. The beer in Stoneholm is buckets of milk with a texture pack applied. Bonus points for the new texture having froth on top.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent:
** In part 17 of ''Shadow of Israphel'', a zombie is seen lurking about in the background before setting itself on fire and dying.
** In part 16, the tapestry on the wall in Verigan's Hold shows George Washington crossing the Delaware.
* GenreSavvy: Lewis asked Simon to hold [[spoiler: the holy record]] when [[spoiler: Mistral City burned down]] because he realized he himself dies more often.
* TheGogglesDoNothing
-->'''Simon:''' Put the goggles on!\\
'''Lewis:''' Do I get magical powers when I put the goggles on?\\
'''Simon:''' No, but they make you look [[RuleOfCool cool as heck.]]
** Subverted in part 31. Lewis puts them on to [[spoiler:protect himself from a plague]] in Stoneholm (Simon doesn't need them, [[spoiler:dwarves are apparently immune to plague]]) but has to remove them because one of their mods makes you heavier when you have armour on. [[spoiler:Fortunately the plague was a lie]].
* GraveHumor: The graveyard in Mistral City contains a good selection of this.
* GuestStarPartyMember: In ''Shadow of Israphel'', Old_Peculier sometimes lends a hand with the duo's adventures, but typically leaves after a while. Likewise, [=PirateTinman=] helped the duo out for a bit... before being ditched because the Yogscast ''couldn't figure out a puzzle to get all three party members across''. Skylord_Lysander occasionally delves in this, too.
* HeelFaceTurn: Astley the reformed creeper.
* HellBentForLeather: The leather cap keeps getting re-purposed into different items. From [[spoiler: ''Shadow of Israphel'' Parts 3 to 11 it's Granny_Bacon's head. In Part 12, it appears to be Mr Banjo's monkey head. In Part 26 it's a ball gag. From Parts 27 to 30 it becomes a pair of goggles that Simon loves because of RuleOfCool.]]
* HilariousOuttakes: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N3rNMzbpx4 Here]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIAPug4bcWM&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL Here]]. (Major spoilers.)
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:Jock_Fireblast is killed in the same fire that he started.]]
* HomeBase: The Yogcave, which is consistently flawed, booby trapped, or on fire. [[spoiler: Or outright bombarded while they were away.]]
* IdiotHero: Lysander has his moments, from allowing himself to be swept off Jasper's roof to constantly getting lost while looking for something.
* [[IfICantHaveYou If I Can't Port Here]]: Grimmjaw blows up part of the bay with his cannons [[DisproportionateRetribution simply because the other pirates wouldn't let him dock his ship in the Bay]].
* IslandHelpMessage: To get attention from a nearby airship, in Survival Island part 8, Simon writes out help in lowercase with torches, and makes it stand out with an exclamation point.
* ItMakesSenseInContext: A man in a pilot's outfit and goggles called a Skylord distracting his CampGay rival by stealing his pink towels from his mansion so that Simon and Lewis can break in through the roof with a waterfall and attempt to steal his gold record for the [[RuleOfThree third]] time, which turns out to be hidden in a chest ''inside'' his bed. [[FetchQuest They need this record so that they can give it to a rock n' roll preacher who is also an Elvis impersonator so that he will give them a golden apple in exchange for dedicating his church to the record.]] That, my friends, is one of ''many'', '''many''', '''''MANY''''' examples.
* IWasQuiteALooker: Granny_Bacon, as seen in a flashback, as well as the Legend of Verigan Charity Livestream.
* JackOfAllStats: [[spoiler: Knight_Peculier]]. He isn't as good with communication or a sword as Lewis, as skilled of a miner or bowman as Simon, or as smart as Skylord_Lysander, but is competent at all of these.
* JigsawPuzzlePlot
* KilledOffForReal: While Simon and Lewis frequently come BackFromTheDead, as if they were playing regular {{Minecraft}}, any "[=NPCs=]" who die, outside of the "Legend of Verigan" special at least, remain dead. This applies both to scripted events such as [[spoiler: Granny_Bacon's death]] and apparently accidental deaths, such as [[spoiler: Um_Bongo falling to his doom.]] This rule inexplicably does not apply to Zombie_Boss or Creeper_Boss, who are killed in virtually every encounter, though it's possible Israphel either resurrects them or simply creates new ones.
** [[spoiler:As of episode 38, it would appear Knight_Peculier is dead.]]
* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler: Jock_Fireblast]] likes this.
* KleptomaniacHero: Lewis and Simon spend almost an entire episode trying to steal from Skylord_Jasper.
* LargeHam: Skylord_Lysander, when not being the StraightMan, does this every now and then, yelling "For Victory!" every time he jumps into a dangerous situation. In ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 30, Lewis started slipping Lysander's speech patterns into Grizwaldesque ones, which Simon noticed.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: The death of [[spoiler:Knight_Peculier]] via minecart from ''Shadow of Israphel'' episode 38 can be seen on the [=BlueXephos=] channel background.
* LethalJokeCharacter: Young!Fumblemore in the Legend of Verigan Charity livestream. His combat skills are subpar, he constantly destroys his fellow adventurers by mistake with his spells, and can't gather resources without making a mess. However, he is incredibly good at blowing up spawners, and can deal with dense clusters of enemies with a blast of TNT.
* LudicrousGibs:
** [[spoiler:Jock_Fireblast]] explodes into bones and porkchops (supposedly flesh) when he dies.
*** As do [[spoiler: Zombie_Boss]] and [[spoiler: Creeper_Boss]] during the events listed above under DiskOneFinalBoss.
** [[spoiler:Skylord_Baaku does this quite suddenly, with a suffusion of redstone dust in place of blood, making poor Simon [[VomitIndiscretionShot sick]]]].
** The site of [[spoiler:Templar_Enoch]]'s death. The walls and floor are covered with blood, and his rotting limbs are lying around. Yes, it's freaky.
* MacGuffin: In ''Shadow of Israphel'', the items needed to prove that the heroes' have conquered the trials of Skyhold: Fire, Snow, Leaves, and probably Netherack. They are even called [=MacGuffins=] by Simon in Episode 30. [[spoiler:He turns out to be right, as Skylord_Lysander admits that they weren't really needed at all just as Simon is wondering why they couldn't have just used a flint and steel to break through the wooden seal.]]
%% The map fragments are not MacGuffins. MacGuffins are items that can be replaced by anything else while still retaining
%% their story purpose; the map fragments are needed to assemble a map that is then usable to further advance the story.
* {{Machinima}}: Becomes this when a mysterious player attacks them one (in-game) night.
* MajorInjuryUnderreaction: When the Yogscast boys came in for a "How to play Minecraft" video with Jesse Cox on OMFGCata, Lewis falls in lava. His reaction is quite calm.
-->'''Lewis:''' Oop, I've just fallen in some lava and I died.\\
'''Simon:''' Here is where he died. R.I.P. Lewis. Never forget.\\
* Simon then walks off.*
* MauveShirt: Gareth the creeper and his brother Henry, and their uncle, Mr Astley.
* MayDecemberRomance: Simon and Granny_Bacon.
* MeadowRun: During [[spoiler:Granny_Bacon]]'s funeral, Simon reminisces about the good times he had with her. The screen then cuts to one of these in a wheat field, when suddenly [[RecordNeedleScratch the music stops]] and both of them [[MoodWhiplash duck down into the wheat while Simon makes grunting noises]].
* MeaningfulName:
** Old_Peculier is old, and a bit quirky. [[spoiler: When he becomes Knight_Peculier, this becomes slightly averted - he's a knight, but no longer peculiar.]]
*** A bit less obvious is the fact that he first appears as the owner of a small tavern in a small town, and "old peculiar" is an obscure slang term for beer from a small, local brewery, generally in a small town.
** Jock_Fireblast [[spoiler: turns out to be as much of a raging pyromaniac as Simon, as he was the one who burned down [[AdventureTowns Mistral City]], and much later, [[PortTown Barbecue Bay]].]]
** The Creepers in general. They usually creep up on Lewis or - much more often - Simon, exploding before they can react or be warned.
* {{Metaphorgotten}}: Simon in episode 2 of the Survival Island map.
--> '''Simon''': "You're throwing caution to the wind. You know how it goes with wind. Sometimes it can just change direction and you're left with egg on your... face. I think I mixed metaphors a bit."
* MightyGlacier: [[spoiler:[[TheDragon Zombie_Boss]]]], due to the fact that he always crouches while walking [[spoiler:in order to make him seem more "zombie-like"]].
* MinorInjuryOverreaction: In one episode, while Simon, Lewis, and [=PirateTinman=] are trying to dig their way into another part of Grimmjaw's treasure vault, [=PirateTinman=] accidentally punches Simon. Simon then starts whining incessently dispite having only having taken one heart of damage. Lewis then replies with the hilarious line "Man up, bitch!"
* MissionImpossibleCableDrop: The duo does this when trying to [[spoiler:steal Skylord_Jasper's music disk]] ''WITH A FREAKING WATERFALL!!''
* TheMole: In ''Shadow of Israphel'', this is revealed to be [[spoiler:Skylord_Lysander. It later turns this he was framed, and Jock_Fireblast is the real culprit.]]
** In Episode 29 we learn [[spoiler:Skylord_Vitali was this to the Skylords.]]
* MoodWhiplash:
** In general, the dramatic/story elements of the "official" ''Shadow of Israphel'' series is offset by the humor and ineptitude of Simon and Lewis, often cracking jokes and pointing out absurdities as soon as a scene is over. As the series matures with darker themes and the plot of saving the world becomes more grim, the mood whiplash deepens greatly from its completely light-hearted origins.
** The outright horrific [[SceneryGorn depiction]] of [[PosthumousCharacter Enoch's]] final resting place is severely undermined when both Simon and Lewis pick up his limbs and [[GrievousHarmWithABody hit each other with them]]. With ''sound effects''.
* MoreDakka: Israphel takes this UpTo11.
* [[WholeEpisodeFlashback Multi-Episode Flashback]]: The Legend of Verigan charity livestream.
* NameMcAdjective: Simon notes that the crowd Swampy Bogbeard hangs out with would be the likes of "Clucky [=McFeathers=]" and "Wooly [=McBaaface=]".
* NeverLearnedToRead: Honeydew and Xephos. [[EnforcedTrope Enforced]], because all of the notes and map fragments are done through pieces of paper (which are blank), they both have to get [=NPCs=] to tell them what the paper is/says. Lewis comments they must not be able to read in Season 3.
* NeverMyFault: When Simon deliberately sets the Yogcave on fire:
-->'''Lewis:''' Was that my flint and tinder?\\
'''Simon:''' Yeah... so technically, it's ''your'' fault.
* NewAgeRetroHippie: Swampy, Fumblemore's brother, who lives in a floating chunk of earth and forces you to climb up using saplings and bone meal. Whether or not this is just Simon and Lewis's speculation of what he sounds like, and not who the character actually is, is up to debate.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:Simon and Lewis are the ones that built the portal that led [[BigBad Israphel]] back to Minecraftia.]]
** [[spoiler: Templar Enoch's expedition to investigate the metal remains ends up having a hand in releasing Israphel.]]
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: [[spoiler:If Israphel never messed around with Xephos and Honeydew, he never would've lured them to Old_Peculier when he was about to kill himself with poison. The rest is history.]]
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot:
** Spacker [=LeChuck=], a pirate zombie dwarf in a boat.
** [=PirateTinman=], a robot pirate.
** The [[spoiler: possessed zombie dwarves in Stoneholm, which are dangerous and unintelligent, unlike Spacker.]]
* NobodyPoops: Averted. The first time Lewis and Simon meet Fumblemore, he requires some makeshift toilet paper.
* {{Non Player Character}}s: A major plot point that causes the GenreShift from LetsPlay to {{Machinima}}.
* NostalgiaLevel: The [[spoiler: ruins of the]] Yogcave after the trip to Survival Island.
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: According to the PAX 2011 Yogscast Teleconference, the fight with [[spoiler:Jock Fireblast]] had to be reshot because of one of these, as while Simon completely destroyed him, Lewis, the cameraman, wasn't there to film anything.
* OffTheRails: ''Shadow of Israphel'' has been described by the {{Yogscast}} as being like a ''DungeonsAndDragons'' adventure, with Simon and Lewis's friends creating an elaborate story for them to play without them knowing the entire story. Thus, (relatively minor) deviations to the main story ensue that the "gamemasters" have to account for and ad-lib. Occasionally leads to HilariousOuttakes.
** Simon creating a plane ''inside'' the aircraft carrier instead of creating it ''on'' the carrier is an example in episode 27. Skylord_Lysander is obviously surprised and didn't plan on having to rebuild the plane.
--->'''Lysander:''' Please try not to break the laws of physics any more than you have already...
** As pointed out by many commenters on [=YouTube=], there ''was'' a way to get [=PirateTinman=] across the lava bridge puzzle instead of just abandoning him...
** Though no [=NPCs=] were present to advance the story, the time Simon and Lewis attempt to find shelter at the Temple of Lehparsi after a sudden downpour is definitely this.
* OhCrap:
--> Simon: ''Good news is I've dug our way out. Bad news is we're going to drown.''
* OneSteveLimit: Averted with Daisy the Yogscave cow, and Daisy_Duke, the missing blacksmith's daughter.
* OnlySaneMan: Skylord_Lysander is definitely this when ever he's part of the party. He scolds Xephos and Honeydew for the things they break, he constantly has to remind them to stay on track, and in every video he appears in the heroes do something that completely baffles him. Lysander is quite possibly the most sensible character in the cast.
* OrgasmicallyDelicious: Granny_Bacon's cooked fish.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: At one point during the Legend of Verigan charity livestream, Lewis (who is playing Karpath) yells at a young Templar_Adaephon, after the young templar snaps at Professor Grizwald for needing to rest so often, which shocks everyone. Justified in that Templar_Adaephon is Karpath's apprentice. Lewis generally just acts generally braver than normal during the livestream.
-->'''Karpath/Xephos/Lewis:''' Cull your toungue young Templar! We need the old man well and rested!
* PercussiveMaintenance: Simon fixes an apparent error in young Granny_Bacon's NPC coding this way, even referencing Fonzie from ''HappyDays'' in the process.
%%%
%% That's what they called the way she was acting in-series. Hence the "apparent".
%%%
* PlanetHeck: [[{{Hell}} The Nether]], now that it works in multiplayer.
* PosthumousCharacter: Templar_Enoch, the explorer that worked with Griswold in the desert excavation; Simon, Lewis, and Peculier find an ApocalypticLog written by him at the excavation in question.
* PortTown: Barbecue Bay, full of loud, talkative pirates - and perhaps even [[DigitalPiracyIsEvil some bootleggers of some kind.]]
* PowerTrio: They become this whenever Old[[spoiler:/Knight]]_Peculier joins them. Simon is [[TheMcCoy the id]], Old/[[spoiler:Knight]]_Peculier is [[TheKirk the ego]], and Lewis is [[TheSpock the superego]].
* RainOfArrows: Israphel's tactic of choice.
* RealLifeWritesThePlot: Much of the early story of Shadow of Israphel was made when nether portals were broken in [=SMP=], so they had to come up with excuses for why the heroes couldn't enter them until the game was fixed.
* ReformedButRejected: Mr. Astley the Creeper
* TheReveal: Oh so many in ''Shadow of Israphel'':
** Skylord_Lysander [[spoiler: is actually TheMole]]
*** And again in episode 24, where it turns out [[spoiler: he isn't.]]
** Israphel [[spoiler: was summoned by the portal [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Lewis and Simon summoned]]]]
** Jock_Fireblast [[spoiler: is evil and stole the map fragment. He was the one responsible for burning down Mistral City]].
** Old_Peculier's father [[spoiler: is actually a knight who needs to destroy Israphel and the portals, but trapped himself in the Nether to also trap Israphel - that is, until Simon and Lewis summoned him (Israphel) again]]
*** And he's actually [[spoiler: Karpath Antioch, son of Verigan Antioch The First. Peculiar's real name is Verigan The Second and he is the next Templar King]] (whatever that means)
** Skylord_Vitali [[spoiler: is a [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Vampire]], is working for Israphel and killed all the other Skylords.]]
** King_Finbar [[spoiler: is possessed by Israphel and all the Dwarves have been turned into Zombies]]
** [[spoiler: The Wall has been sabotaged and [[TheCorruption The Sands]] are pouring out.]]
** Israphel is [[spoiler: working for a group of giant robots called Sentinels, who the Sand was just a prison for, the Sand was only evil because Israphel took control of it, and the Sentinels will activate and destroy the world in 3 days and 7 hours.]]
* RickRoll: Mr. Astley sings "Never gonna give you up", with intermittent hissing, when [[spoiler:the heroes find him imprisoned in Stoneholm]]
* RingOutBoss: [[spoiler:In their first encounter with Zombie_Boss, Lewis kills him by knocking him into a ring of lava around Israphel's castle, which is just as dangerous for them.]]
* TheRival: Strongman_Bruno and Simon absolutely can't stand each other, and their personalities clash a lot. This is worsened by Bruno cheating Simon out of his victory in a strength contest, and Simon [[spoiler:trapping Strongman_Bruno in a tree]].
* SdrawkcabAlias: [[spoiler: In the temple that Simon and Lewis take shelter in, a sign in front of an obsidian barrier says not to open, or else a beast of sorts named Lehparsi will be unleashed. [[TooDumbToLive They don't realize it's backwards for Israphel, and even consider breaking it open just for safety from the current enemy swarm.]]]]
* SealedEvilInACan: In addition to the wall holding the Sands back, Verigan built a massive machine to [[spoiler: keep a Sand God sealed beneath the desert. [[OhCrap By the time Lewis, Simon and Peculier find it, the machine has recently failed.]]]]
* TakeUpMySword: [[spoiler:Old_Peculier's father to Old_Peculier, to vanquish the evil spirit and destroy the Hellgates.]]
* TemptingFate: During the Battle of the Breach, Lewis remarks that the enemies probably can't make it through the then-recently repaired wall. Creeper_Boss blasts a new hole in the wall shortly after he says this.
** When going through one of the trials in Skyhold, Lewis says that the trial was simple and that he was surprised at how, despite the presence of cobwebs, there wasn't a spider in sight. Less than a minute later, the two of them are attacked by a swarm of spiders.
* ThisIsADrill: [[spoiler: Stoneholm's giant bedrock mining drill.]]
* TooDumbToLive:
** Simon's idea of "putting the heating on" inside the Yogcave is to use a flint and tinder to set the wooden floor on fire, nearly destroying the entire cave.
** Lewis flooding the Yogcave after tunneling through one of the tower walls. Hell, both Simon and Lewis have a lot of these moments.
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler:Old_Peculier, becoming Knight_Peculier]].
* TrashTheSet: The Yogscast have done this a few times over the course of the ''Shadow of Israphel'' series: so far they destroyed [[spoiler: the Yogcave, Mistral City, and BBQ Bay]]. They do, however, either fix or ''destroy for others to fix'' some of the older "sets" in the series that they store in either a public museum server or an RPG server for fans to visit.
* TwentyBearAsses: Almost directly quoted from TVTropes in ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 7; and yes, they did have a FetchQuest to FindTheCure.
* TheUnintelligible: [[spoiler:Zombie_Boss, who only speaks in groans]]
* TheUsualAdversaries: Silverfish. Simon in particular is ''terrified'' of them, calling them worse than Endermen, and both Simon and Lewis get mobbed by Silverfish multiplying repeatedly.
* VagueAge: Lampshaded. Old Peculier, who is, well, [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin pretty old,]] has an uncle, who was around during a time Granny Bacon was young, who seems a little older than Peculier himself, but his father was around during that time too, and [[spoiler:a sister who is rather young-looking in the present day]] and he... Well... Don't think about it too hard. To clarify: Granny Bacon and Templar_Adaephon are both ''over one hundred years old''.
* TheVirus: Called "the taint", later during ''Shadow of Israphel''.
* TheVoiceless: [[spoiler:Israphel]].
* VomitIndiscretionShot:
** Simon spewing Jaffa Cakes, following [[spoiler:Skylord_Baaku's death]].
** And after [[spoiler: Enoch's remains]] are discovered, Simon does it again, this time with the equivalent of several ''meals'' in porkchops and beer.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Jock_Fireblast [[spoiler: is ticklish.]]
* WebcomicTime: At least from the [=NPCs'=] point of view, the series is implied to occur over a much shorter timescale than aired.
** In ''Shadow of Israphel'' Part 25 (aired June 2011), Spacker_[=LeChuck=] mentions part of Swampy's forest being an inn "but weeks ago", even though [[spoiler:Mistral City burned down and was evacuated]] in Part 10 in February.
** In Part 34 (November 2011), the gang have three days until [[spoiler:the Jade Sentinel is fully operational]]. As of July 2012, this is essentially still ongoing.
* WhamLine: In part 23 of the first season, we have this line.
-->'''Old_Peculier:''' That poor man, [[spoiler:his son Israphel was out hunting when the creepers got him.]]
* WorldHealingWave: Used to [[spoiler: restore the oasis]].
* TheWorldIsJustAwesome: ''Any'' of the pre-made dungeons and towns in the Israphel saga. Simon and Lewis typically have no idea what they're getting themselves into every episode, so they often awe at the scenery and detail put into the settings. And besides: it's ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}''. It's bound to happen.
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: The abandoned "Ye Olde Watche Towere", just outside Mistral. A less butcherede example is Granny Bacon's Greasy Spoon Shoppe.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mod spotlights & Yoglabs]]
* AndCallHimGeorge: In one video, Simon shows off his world (which has the [=YoGbox=] compilation mod pack installed) and meets a pink dolphin. He tries to ride it, but it keeps throwing him off. The eventually end up on shore, and Simon coddles the dolphin, which he accidentally beats to death.
** A giant Simon does this to tiny Lewis in the Gulliver mod spotlight, after nearly killing him with one punch.
---> ''As Lewis runs away to hide in a small hole''.\\
'''Simon:''' Come here I want to play with you, '''(Then in a booming voice)''' I will hug you and squeeze you and call you Lewis.
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** The Skyrim mod, to an extent. While the shouts are not terrible, they ultimately aren't as powerful as they were in the original game and it would be quicker in some cases to just slay your enemies with a sword or [[MemeticMutation an arrow to the knee]].
** The scuba mod as well. It's initially practical when you get to understand how it works; however, there is no in game indication as to when you will run out. But wait, won't you just get shown the bubbles and have time to flee to the surface? [[FromBadToWorse No, you won't. Running out of air in your tank causes the player to start suffocating almost immediately.]]
** The explosives mod, given that excessive use will probably render your overworld barren.
** The All Terrain vehicle that used to come as part of the Technic Pack covers a lot of ground, but it will cause you to jump fairly high as soon as you bump into a block that is higher than you. This can lead to a lot of AmusingInjuries, and if you fall in the water you're pretty much dead unless you bail.
** The Cinema Mod ''will'' cause you to crash your computer or lag like hell, despite its epic appearance.
** To an extent, the cars mod. While it does serve well as a mode of transportation and the integration of some Garry's mod style graphics and mechanics is pretty awesome, it will cause you to glitch a bit owing to the way it is programmed, and you're pretty much screwed if you fall down a hole, though admittedly when shown falling into the sea Simon didn't drown even when all of the bubbles had popped.
** An in-universe example with Yoglabs itself. During Part 2 of the Galacticraft mod, Lewis says that Yoglabs wallpaper is retextured gold blocks, meaning the entire facility is ''made of solid gold''. While they more than likely spawned in the gold using creative mode, it would have been a pain to build it in Survival, considering how expensive gold blocks are and how many of them are used.
* BadBoss: Surprisingly, Lewis. It is revealed that the government was trying to reclaim Yoglabs because Lewis blew their entire budget on [[ItMakesSenseInContext BMWs]].
* BoringButPractical:
** This is how Lewis felt about the Backpack Mod, especially in comparison to the previous AwesomeButImpractical Skyrim Mod.
** Depending on what you build, the Ugocraft mod.
** The Clear Water mod makes it a hell of a lot easier to see.
** The trampolines and automated door mods, though of course the former does have potential to be this trope, awesome yet practical or AwesomeButImpractical depending on what you build.
* BuriedAlive: The fate of the [[Series/DoctorWho Weeping Angel]] that managed to worm its way into Simon's house in his mod spotlight of Weeping Angels. Simon's instincts of being a dwarf kicked in and [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome he Diggy Diggy Hole'd a trap that it fell and got trapped in.]]
* BrickJoke: Odds are if something explodes, Lewis will go back to showcase a later mod in the resulting hole. For example:
** The nuclear explosion he caused in the Uranium mod spotlight wound up becoming his quarry for the Fossils mod (resulting in weird glitches, such as giving him a permanent awkward position that is hilarious [[HilarityEnsues both for the viewer and for Simon]]). He also decided to test out the explosives+ mod in a recreated Mistral city after blowing it up in a helicopter.
** During the technic pack mod spotlights, Lewis left after trying out a nuclear reactor that he felt has a dodgy construction. In the very next video, he goes back to look at his house to find out the reactor had overloaded, obliterating his house and most of the cliffside it sat on.
* CanineCompanion: Simon gets a damn '''army''' of these (around a dozen) when showing off the Biospheres mod.
* CerebusSyndrome: Yoglabs started as an extension of the old mod spotlights but gradually got larger and more out of control, introducing characters and obstacles, before going into full-blown multi-part story arcs (while still testing mods at that). Notably, Lewis somewhat called this in a Reddit AMA while it was still fairly early on, saying Yoglabs was becoming the new SOI.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Their [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TtRpJw2D7g&feature=g-user-u Wizardcraft]] spotlight was done via Fumblemore sending them the video and them commentating on it.
* DragonRider: The dragons mod, of course. You have to tame the dragon first, however, otherwise you can be thrown off without warning and take serious damage.
** The Enderdragon mount in the yoglabs video lets you raise an Enderdragon from the [[BraggingRightsReward otherwise useless Dragon egg,]] giving you a mount to fly with and a very powerful and durable guardian.
* DropTheHammer: Lewis' main weapon in the Aether mod.
* DuelingMovies: Discussed InUniverse. Lewis and Simon discuss how disaster movies like ''Film/{{Volcano}}'' & ''Film/DantesPeak'', and ''Film/{{Armageddon}}'' & ''DeepImpact'' always come in pairs.
* EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs: The Jurassicraft mod is ''very'' cool.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Lewis describes the [[StuffBlowingUp Boomstick]] from the Explosives+ mod as this.
* ExplosiveBreeder: The rabbits, which causes a massive problem for Simon when he shows off his Single Player map with Mo' Creatures, and finds two, which he keeps as pets in his house. He then leaves for a few minutes, finds another one, and brings it home, only to find a dozen baby rabits when he returns, ranging from newborn to about 75% grown up. He puts the third adult rabbit in the house while staring in shock at the swarm of adorable critters. This accelerates the rate of birth. When Simon decides to force his way to the door to get them out, he discovers that he can't get through all the rabbits. [[FromBadToWorse Then, a few of the oldest children reach full-grown age, and they start breeding too...]] This got to the point that he just deleted the file, because his world had been infested and that rabbits were pretty much swarming the landscape.
* FlatWhat: This is practically a CatchPhrase of Simon's, especially during Lewis' mod showcases.
* GenreSavvy: Simon eventually becomes wary of anything that come out of Yoglabs' [[RunningGag coffee machine.]]
* InstantAwesomeJustAddDragons: The Dragon mod, of course.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Simon starts punching several penguins off an ice cliff in an effort to see if they can fly (they can). Duncan punches him off straight afterwards, [[HypocriticalHumour before going off to punch some to death himself]].
** [[spoiler: Then Duncan falls off the glacier himself.]]
* MathematiciansAnswer: During their showcase of the [[OurFairiesAreDifferent Fairy Mod]], this is Hannah's response when the boys ask her if the pink flowers are the red or yellow ones.
* MermaidProblem: Discussed as part of a tangent as to how OxygenatedUnderwaterBubbles work in the Coral and Scuba Diving mod.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: This is how they felt about gravitational pistons in the "More Pistons Mod" spotlight video. You can make bouncy castles!
* RecordNeedleScratch: The opening music suddenly stops in the [[Series/DoctorWho Weeping Angels]] mod spotlight, when Lewis spots an Angel.
* OxygenatedUnderwaterBubbles: Lewis notes how implausible this trope is when it appears in the Coral and Scuba Diving mod.
* PhlebotinumKilledTheDinosaurs: When they showed the Jurrasicraft mod, and Hannah starts killing dinosaurs indiscriminately.
-->'''Simon:''' We got it all wrong! An asteroid didn't kill the dinosaurs! [[PersonOfMassDestruction It was Hannah and her diamond sword!]]
* RunningGag: The busted coffee machine, the few times it's been "fixed", it's either leaked lava, alien parasites, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking or tasted terrible.]]
** The brokenness is usually of their experiments. Some include dimensional rifts, having milk supplied by blood-soaked cannibalistic cows, and even worse.
* SimpleYetAwesome:
** The Ugocraft mod can be used to make gates, drawbridges, and even more. Quite useful for castles and forts.
** The planes and helicopters mod, when mastered. However, having multiple helicopters allying with you (you have to fire on them once) can cause this trope to be [[ZigZaggedTrope zig zagged]]. There is a lot of firepower, which is good if you need to clear a large area, and it is now multiplayer compatible. However, if you aren't careful your already fragile helicopter will break a lot faster when it bumps into the other ones. The standard firepower of the helicopter is not that strong either, though it is good for setting wood settlements on fire and still works well as a method of transportation.
** Smart Movement Mod, which changes the animations while also making it easier to travel certain terrains.
** The MindControl mod. This essentially gives you the ability to force hostile mobs away, turn them on other mobs, and eventually blow up near the undesirable parts of Minecraft.
** The Remote Control Mod, which essentially allows you to use remote control planes and cars. This essentially gives you a Recon vehicle that you can use to scout an area you want to explore.
** The Horses mod, which allows you to ride in style and traverse terrain at great speed. They're also very handy for battle, though you may want to practice first.
** Better Than Wolves, integrating ropes, grapples, better industrial facilities and even windmills. Great for revolutionising your town. It does, however, involve a fair degree of KickTheDog- wolves are not treated well in this mod.
** Technic pack/Tekkit. Lewis even stated at the begining that he was looking at "Industrial mods that make the game amazing".
** The SDK guns mod.
** The Dragon Mod gives you a {{Badass}} dragon companion and is also a good method of transport. It's very good for hunting too. Just keep it away from your livestock.
** The Ferullos guns mod also counts, as it gives you a gun with reasonable effectiveness, plus a wide array of other powerful weapons and good armour, though diamond armour is still better.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: In the Zepplin mod video. "That's not Stoneholm or anything."
** Lewis is a master of this trope in Yoglabs.
*** A few examples:
**** Don't worry, [Yoglabs] is my facility, it hasn't been taken over by the government or anything.
**** The [tanks] aren't Russian, the Russians didn't provide them or anything.
* ToiletHumor: The entirety of the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nQmjRyYMUg Bad Gas]] video.
* {{Troll}}: In "Sunshine of Israpony", Lewis and Simon claimed that the niccolite ore (which looks like diamond from a distance) was trolling them.
* VolcanoLair: Fumblemore builds one in the [[MyLittlePony Mine Little Pony]] mod.
* WhamEpisode: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLN0e0de2eU Soul Absorbers]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wryJGRLgAVw Clone Lab]]. [[spoiler:Two Yoglab employees betray Lewis and Simon and plan to make death permanent. Simon's master clone is killed and has to be replaced by the current Simon. This lets him keep respawning but at the cost of his own memories, all Simons from now on are clones of the selfless Simon]].
* WhyWontYouDie: Quoted word for word by Simon as Lewis is [[spoiler:fighting the MadeOfIron Valkyrie Queen]] in the Aether mod.
* WillingSuspensionOfDisbelief: [[InUniverse Simon has to do this]] when Lewis says he's been researching [[AppliedPhlebotinum nanomachines that restructure his DNA so he can absorb souls]].
-->'''Simon:''' Okay, I'm going to need to suspend my disbelief, and accept this as something you have been just been working on.
* TheWorldIsJustAwesome: The Coral and Water Shader and the Amazing Water mods do a good job of this; the latter is mostly just a couple of minutes of Lewis and Simon going "wow".
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Adventure Maps]]
* TheAce: The reason they take Fumblemore to their adventure maps. [[spoiler: He can use magic to fly and explode obstacles, very useful in the Canopy Carnage arc.]] [[PlotTailoredToTheParty It was practically made for him.]]
* AbortedArc: Some of the adventure maps they play never get finished for various reasons. A most recent example would be Paladin's Quest 2.
* AwesomeButImpractical: Simon building a bridge of TNT blocks thanks to a previous explosion causing lava to flow in in the Curse of Sunny Springs map. However, he built it right next to the lava where all those blocks can be sparked and explode.
* BigWordShout: Simon shouting "WHYYYYYY!" after completely messing up a shot in [=YogGolf=].
* Lewis insists Simon's ''miles away'' from the creeper-infested planetoid, Simon, then tells him to be careful when it's already too late.
* BlownAcrossTheRoom: [[ExaggeratedTrope Taken to a hilarious extreme]] with [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fJ5ikWtwaY Testificate Golf]], a game which involves [[VideogameCrueltyPotential knocking villager mobs across the map with enchanted sticks.]]
* BoldlyComing: While exploring the ''Enterprise-A'' from the ''Series/{{Star Trek|The Original Series}}'' movies, Simon, in character as James T. Kirk, wishes to teach an alien spider "the ways of kissing".
* BusmansHoliday: According to Lewis, the Temple of Kikatchu and Curse of Sunny Springs maps are holidays where he and Simon end up saving the world anyway.
* CallBack: During one of his Skyblock episodes with Sjin, Duncan mentions that one of the first things he built in Minecraft after getting the game was an igloo with a fire in the middle to 'break physics'. [[spoiler: Probably the very same igloo that Lewis and Simon discovered in their original Minecraft playthrough before it became Shadow of Israphel.]]
* CanineCompanion: Lucasaide the puppy in the ''Paldin's quest two'' map. Extremely smart for a standard wolf, hunting out and finding levers the guys miss. [[spoiler: He's actually controlled by another player with a mob skin over it.]]
* CheatersNeverProsper:
** Lampshaded by Lewis in The Curse of Sunny Springs, after skipping past two sacrifices and not knowing the other two map co-ordinates to progress.
** Frequently using TNT to bypass puzzles sometimes wrecks the map to the point they HAVE to skip sections of it. It's usually Simon's fault.
** Ironically, one of the biggest cases of this trope wasn't their fault; in the ''Pharoah's Curse'' map, a creeper blew up and activated an [[NoKillLikeOverkill anti-cheating countermeasure]] [[StuffBlowingUp Wiping out]] [[CrowningMomentofFunny the]] ''[[CrowningMomentofFunny entire map]]'' in a fifteen second chain reaction
* ContinuityNod:
** To the linking sections of Podcast/TheYoGPoD in part 1 of the Gloria Map.
-->(child voice) ''Mummy, mummy, can I listen to the [=YoGPoD=]?'' (deep voice) ''Fuck off!''
** And in The Dropper after seeing an army of black cubes.
-->'''Simon:''' The Swarm! Oh, god, it's the Swarm, Lewis! They've found us! Oh, god!
* TheDevTeamThinksOfEverything: During the "Puzzle Cube" map, Lewis gets fed up and attempts to cheat (again)... only to discover that the maker of the map made it impossible to switch to creative mode and gave players infinite mining fatigue so they couldn't break the blocks of the puzzles, to Lewis's chagrin. Then [[SubvertedTrope subverted]], as they are able to cheat using their oldest method: TNT.
** When Simon and Lewis play a game of [=YogGolf=], Simon tries to make a simple shot through a gap in a wall... and misses six times... from a couple of inches away.
** They make CHAINS of these in the "The Return" adventure map. Simon accidentally launches an empty minecart ahead on the tracks, then goes with his own. Because of some kind of glitch, he catches fire along the way and dies while riding the cart. Lewis follows the tracks as well, catches fire too but stays alive because he has food, but then he bumps into the first, empty minecart and just lets himself get carried backwards all the way to the start of the tracks, catching fire a second time along the way because of the glitch. Later, Simon manages to get cart-jacked halfway through another minecart ride... By a random pigman. How that happened, he never managed to explain.
** They also manage this on some of the custom map playthroughs, having twice blown up a map so badly they couldn't finish it.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: The end of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1lLqR-8D0A&t=6m45s Santa's Adventure]], with the laughing lasting for quite a while.
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:Simon and Lewis both undergo this at the end of their playthrough of the custom map "The Journey", burning down the village. Lewis is especially affected, killing Simon with the Scythe of Death.]]
* FakeDifficulty: When a map calls for the player to switch to peaceful mid-adventure, Simon and Lewis tend to not do it because switching difficulty on multiplayer is a pain to do, thus they'll wind up fighting monsters in inopportune places, getting ambushed by creepers while riding minecarts, and in some situations, having damage done the the map that makes it UnwinnableByMistake.
* {{Filler}}: Before ''Israphel'''s update schedule became irregular and while the [=BlueXephos=] channel mostly did ''Minecraft'', the adventure maps were this. The Survival Island videos were this before they were retconned into the story arc.
* FlatWhat:
** Lewis does a hilarious one in part 4 of "The Tree Of Life:
---> '''Simon:''' So yeah, [[HoYay just two men, swimming together under a starry night sky]]. Nothing wei-\\
'''Lewis:''' Well, technically, you're a dwarf.\\
'''Simon:''' Right, right. A man and a dwarf, swimming under the night sky. Nothing weird about this at all.\\
'''Lewis:''' Right.\\
'''Simon:''' ...Lewis, I'm not wearing any pants.\\
({{Beat}})\\
'''Lewis:''' [[FlatWhat What.]]
* FullFrontalAssault: Simon wound up doing this during the ''Calmere Nightmare Two'' map, due to the MyLittlePony texture pack not uninstalling correctly.
* GenreSavvy: The mapmaker of The Swarm custom map is a fan of the Yogscast. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7F7UdjzZJo&feature=BFa&list=PL3XZNMGhpynNX_9mWIARvFymnkoOzbg-z At the beginning of the third part]] is a complex jumping puzzle to get to the top of a tower... right next to a [[DungeonBypass ladder]] labeled "a ladder just for lazy dwarfs".
* HamToHamCombat: Lewis and Simon's performances as Jim Reaper and Vivian, respectively, in the Mystery of the Pumpkin Castle map.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Almost said outright by Simon in Dropper 2. He (Lewis) broke some glass blocks in the lobby, hoping that Simon would fall in. Honeydew makes it across and proceeds to punch Lewis into the abyss.
--> "Simon: I've been hoist by my own retard."
* ImproperWeaponUser: In the ''Series/{{Star Trek|The Original Series}}'' map, Lewis beat two spiders to death with a lever.
** During PVP maps, The duo have been known to use a [[KillItWithFire lava bucket and a flint and steel]]
* IWasBornReady: Parodied in "The Redmurk Mystery".
-->'''Lewis''': Right. You ready to kill some spiders, pal? There's quite a few...
-->'''Simon''': I was born ready to kill some spiders, pal.
* MrExposition: Professor Grizwald usually fulfills this role in adventure maps, due to Simon lapsing into the voice whenever reading the notes they are given.
** Lewis lampshades this in "The Journey", with Simon attempting to do a female CreepyChild voice:
--->'''Simon:''' Dear diary: *Lapses into Grizwald voice*\\
'''Lewis:''' Does everyone in this town have the same voice?\\
'''Simon:''' (Still Professor Grizwald) Yes! Yes we do!
** Later, in the "Mountains of Kikatchu" map, Simon voices Professor Burben, apparently Grizwald's brother, and Dr. Whitewall, who has a different voice but the same speech patterns. Simon chalks it down to a Kikatchu accent.
* OhCrap: Happens in Monarch of Madness, when Simon and Lewis are at the end of a three-dimensional wool maze and a sign there tells them to set some of the wool on fire and then run. After igniting it, they just stand there for a few seconds and stare at the fire before remembering that they are supposed to leave, at which point they promptly panic and flee. By this stage, pretty much the whole maze is burning down...
* [[OminousLatinChanting Ominous... Something... Chanting]]: Played with [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSLulVtfCoc&t=15m14s somehow]] during their charity livestream with Jesse Cox of OMFGCata, when the crew break out into chanting that ends randomly with "[[VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim Dovahkiin! Dovahkiin]]!"
* ParanoiaFuel: The duo is [[{{In-universe}} hit hard by this]] when they play a spooky adventure map called "The Jackal And The Cave".
* SchmuckBait: Happens at the end of "Rise of the Rebellion Part 2."
---> '''Lewis reads a sign:''' Never press a red button.\\

'''Lewis:''' [[OhCrap Crap]].
* SpeakInUnison: Several times, in particular [[http://youtu.be/0IEC6DvwSG8?t=6m40s here]].
* TemptingFate: Twice within the space of five minutes in the "Professor Grizwald and the Redstone Keys" map. In the volcano trial, Lewis says that its his turn to die next and a Creeper appears. Then, Simon says that there "probably aren't any Creepers up ahead", before being interrupted by a Creeper ambush.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Simon accidentally threw his sword at a Creeper at one point. Since "throwing" in this case just means hitting the Drop key, [[AvertedTrope this naturally had no effect at all]] other than Simon no longer having a sword to fight with.
* TooDumbToLive: In the very first part of "The Curse of Sunny Springs", Simon's wolf Ollie ran directly into a fire for no reason and died.
* TooSoon: InUniverse. In the "Archer Hero" map, while riding the minecart to the finish, Lewis mentions how the last time he rode a track like that was when [[spoiler: Knight_Peculier died in ''Shadow of Israphel'']]. Simon called him out on mentioning it so off-handedly, then says that it made him depressed.
* {{Troll}}: [=DaveChaos=] trolled Simon and Lewis in the Yoglympics map when he put a button labelled to go up into the Dodgit event that actually threw Simon and Lewis down into a pit. He then proceeded to try and blow up the winner's podium with Lewis and Simon on it after his "special message" on the wall from the map makers (BOOM!), but ''just'' missed them.
* UnusualEuphemism: The Jackal and the Cave, with Lewis correcting Simon's [[TooDumbToLive creative]] interpretation of the wall paintings:
--> '''Lewis:''' No, Simon, that's notóno, no, no no no no no. \\
'''Simon:''' So... so there aren't hot dogs ahead, is that what you're saying? \\
'''Lewis:''' Quite the opposite, I fear. We will be having our hot dogs [[LudicrousGibs ejected from our bodies.]]
* YouMakeMeSic: Simon enjoys pronouncing the misspellings in adventure map notes.

[[folder:Tekkit and [=YogCraft=]]]
!!'''Jaffa Factory'''
Tropes pertaining to the Tekkit, later changed to [=YogCraft=] on the same server, series on the main Yogscast channel, featuring Simon, Lewis & Duncan. The series follows the progress of the three working as Honeydew Inc. for the most part to create and run a Jaffa Cake factory. The series also prominently features [=SipsCo=], Sips and Sjin, firstly as a rival company but later they join with the other three in order to help out.
----
* AccidentalPun:
** Sips remarks in episode 38 how he's planning for a big Christmas party next year, and says it's going to be a real ''shindig''. Simon looks over at ''Sjin'' and proceeds to lampshade the obvious misinterpretation.
** Another regarding Sjin's name; episode 89 starts with everyone starting off as normal and then moving on to see Sips and Sjin in the other room only to find only Sips. He explains why Sjin wasn't there by saying he banged his shin.
* TheAce: Duncan at first; he is the first to achieve flight and knows most Tekkit stuff. However, this becomes less noticeable when Lewis begins to match him in capabilities.
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: [[spoiler:Moonquest reveals that the base is rather overrun and badly damaged]]. Team JAFFA are seeking to change this.
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** Lewis's infamous wall of machinery, which Duncan and Simon both want to tear down and keep trying to explain has a more efficient way of being done. It only stays up because Lewis (and Simon to an extent) thinks it looks cool and "works fine".
--> '''Lewis''': We're doing the wall! The wall...is awesome! Don't mess with the wall!
** Eventually, even ''Lewis'' decides it'd be best to retire the wall and put it somewhere else as decoration.
** Duncan's Egg Coaster:
--> '''Lewis''': Why don't we just teleport the eggs up here in the first place?
--> '''Duncan''': That's boring.
* BadBoss: Simon in Episodes 13 and 14. Sips for the entire series.
* BigDamnHeroes: Not a big deal was made about it, but in part 28, Lewis is fighting off skeletons that are in the factory's basement and is down to one health. Before one last skeleton can shoot him, Sjin pops out of ''nowhere''[[note]]well, actually a nearby cave he had been in, but you get the idea[[/note]] and kills it.
* BlatantLies: Several, usually from Sips. Examples are his lies to Simon about what he's doing on Pig Island [[note]]he claims to be surveying the dirt, when he's actually turning the pig statue into dirt and replicating it[[/note]] and telling Lewis and Duncan that he has several Sips Co. factories, all of which are a hundred times better than Honeydew Inc. [[note]]As evidenced by his own Tekkit series, he and Sjin have built all of one factory as of episode 80, which wasn't exactly as ambitious as Honeydew Inc.[[/note]].
* ButtMonkey: Sjin.
* BreakTheHaughty: When we first see Sjin, he's serving as Sips Co.'s resident ObstructiveBureaucrat, [[SmugSnake a role he seems to revel in]]. Later, after [[spoiler: being fired from both Sips Co. and Honeydew Inc.]], he becomes far more humble in his dealings with Simon and co., even voluntarily helping them out in later episodes.
** [[spoiler: Simon]] goes though this in Episode 28 when [[spoiler: he briefly loses control of the company to Sjin]]. Once the status quo is restored, however, [[AesopAmnesia he forgets it immediately]].
** [[spoiler: Sips is also subjected to this when the true CEO of Sips Co. - a giant head normally operated by Sjin, but this time operated by Simon - orders him to work at Honeydew Inc. Though possibly subverted in that the work he's told to do is the kind of thing he's always ''wanted'' to do and hates being a CEO.]]
* BreakingTheFourthWall: In episode 95, Lewis stops and wonders how they were going to explain, from a canonical perspective, why they were abandoning the Jaffa factory despite the fact that building it was the main plot of their series.
* CallBack: Duncan still hates Sjin for what happened in their Tekkit playthrough during his playthrough with Lewis and Simon. As one [=YouTuber=] notes, you can HEAR the anger in Duncan's voice. [[spoiler: This causes issues when Simon tricks Sips Co. into working for them, as their effectiveness at building starts to make Duncan jealous, and his sentences start to get a lot more scathing.]]
** In Episode 72, Lewis asks if they have any sugar cane left over "from that disastrous event when Simon poked us", referring to Episode 13, when [[spoiler: Simon abused Lewis so badly he quit Honeydew Inc.]].
* ChekhovsGun: In Episode 15, [[spoiler: during Lewis' first day working at Sips Co., Lewis]] explains how a condenser works & how it can turn unnecessary materials into dirt. Sips immediately rejects the idea claiming that Sips Co. is [[LuddWasRight built on tradition, and they don't need any fancy mechanics]]. In Episode 17, when [[spoiler:Lewis]] installs a diamond filter into the dirt processing line. [[BerserkButton Sips goes ballistic at]] [[spoiler:Lewis]], [[BerserkButton firing him and beating him with dirt.]]
* CueTheSun: An unintentional example; the sun is coming up when [[spoiler:Lewis rejoins Honeydew Inc.]], and the rain stops shortly afterwards.
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: The "Honydew Inc. To Do List of Things To Do"
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: In Episode 26, Simon catches Lewis and Sjin in the bedroom together.
* EpicFail: Simon's "teacup" and "beer mug" statues. Sips replaces them with better ones.
* EtTuBrute: Simon aims this at Sjin in episode 31.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=VCZF3GYqqKg#t=1273 Tekkit 76]], starting with Sips and quickly spreading to everyone else, including Simon who is the butt of the joke [[spoiler: (or at least his artistic talents are).]]
* EvilLaugh: Simon pulls off an ''epic'' one in episode 13.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Episode 13 of Tekkit is named "Simon goes mad with power".
* ExplosiveBreeder: The pigs on Pig Island turn out to be this.
* ForbiddenFriendship: Subverted with Sjin and Lewis. They outright called their friendship this and worried how the others would react when they find out, but Simon and Duncan didn't care and Sips was only upset because Sjin was neglecting his job at Sips Co..
* HeelFaceTurn: Sjin, after becoming friends with Lewis, Simon, and Duncan.
** Sips seems to be going through one, [[spoiler: but it actually appears to just be a facade until he can get the dirt from Pig Island...[[HeelFaceRevolvingDoor until he is then forced to do a real one when he has to work at Honeydew Inc.]]]].
* HypocriticalHumour: Sips berates Lewis for suggesting the use of a condenser and [[spoiler: fires him]] for installing a diamond pipe in the [=SipsCo.=] quarry (see LuddWasRight), but he and Sjin regularly use both in their own Tekkit series. [[spoiler: Said quarry actually being a decoy might have something to do with it.]]
* IHaveManyNames: Simon's company starts off as Honeydew Inc., but then later changes rapidly to Honeydew Corp, Honeydew Enterprises, Honeydew Industries...it reaches the point where Simon ''forgets what the company is called''. Every sign with the company name has a different title.
** Lampshaded in one of the IdiosyncraticWipes;
--> '''Announcer:''' Meanwhile at Honeydew...Conglomerate...
* ImStandingRightHere: After Simon has done a deal with Sips Co. for some dirt to rebuild Pig Island, Sips turns to Sjin and [[spoiler: begins to reveal that he's actually tricked Simon into giving them ownership of what could be very valuable dirt for his company... only to have Simon call out that he's not quite out of earshot yet.]]
* IncomingHam: When Sips finally arrives in Episode 14 - "Work Experience", he ARRIVES.
* JustFollowingOrders: Sijn, after returning to Sips Co., following his break working with Honeydew Inc.: "I'm sorry, [[NothingPersonal it's just business]]"
* TheLancer: Lewis has become this to Simon, reversing their normal roles and with Lewis seeming to be in command at Honeydew Inc. while Simon is away.
* LaserGuidedKarma: This tidbit;
--> '''Sjin''': *After learning about Simon's industrial sabotage* You'll hear from our lawyers! *Walks offscreen and gets shot by a skeleton* Oi!
--> '''Simon''': [[LampshadeHanging Hah! Karma!]]
** In episode 18, Simon has another streak of power madness and knocks Duncan into the quarry hole, while he's gloating, a zombie sneaks up and knocks him in, leaving him at the mercy of several creepers.
* LuddWasRight: Sips appears to believe this. While he does use a quarry, anything more advanced (such as a proper filtration system) is quickly rejected.
** [[spoiler: This is what eventually got Lewis fired.]]
* ManBehindTheMan: [[spoiler: Sjin's act as the giant stone head, the "true" CEO of Sips Co., who was making Simon go pig crazy and has apparently been using Sips as well.]]
* MacGuffin: [[spoiler:The last remaining share in Honeydew Inc.]] becomes this in Episodes 27 & 28, being fought over by Simon, Lewis, and Sjin.
* MythologyGag: Pig Island was a joking name used way back in Lewis and Simon's Let's Play of Survival ''Minecraft'' for a floating island with a couple of pigs on it. Now it's an artificial island on the sea (with many pigs) that Simon spent a lot of time around.
* NotSoAboveItAll: Lewis is usually the OnlySaneMan, but has his moments of this as well. Particular examples are his wall of machinery (see AwesomeButImpractical above), condensing a bunch of eggs to spawn chickens ''in the middle of the factory,'' and random mentions of world domination. Though the latter may have been a joke.
* ObstructiveBureaucrat: Sjin, for Sips Co.. [[spoiler: Initially, at least...]]
* PleasePutSomeClothesOn: Simon and Duncan's reaction when Sjin comes to them after [[spoiler:being fired from Sips Co.]]. He is given a pair of iron pants, [[CrowningMomentOfFunny not that they help much.]]
** And again, in episode 54. Except this time they give him bronze pants, and they help even less.
* TheRival: Intially Sips Co. to Honeydew Inc..
** Though the rivalry is more in spirit than anything considering that they aren't even in the same industry, [[OnlySaneMan as Lewis points out a couple times.]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: In episode 13, after Simon goes powermad and starts beating Lewis with a stick, he decides [[spoiler: he's had enough and quits Honeydew Inc. to go join Sips Co.]]. Episode 14 has the same thing happen to Sjin after [[spoiler: he was fired by Sips Co. and tried to join Honeydew Inc.]], he was even less tolerant of it than Lewis was.
* SideQuest: Simon treated Pig Island as one, especially while Sips and Sjin took an interest in building a pig statue.
* ShoutOut: Episode 10 is titled [[Film/InglouriousBasterds "Inglorious Ghasterds"]].
** In Episode 66, Sjin tries to turn Simon's hot tub into a [[HotTubTimeMachine time machine]].
* TheStarscream: Implied with Lewis; he states in episode 21 that he aspires to eventually own Honeydew Inc., though he may mean he wants to take it over when Simon gives it up rather than outright steal it from him.
* StealthHiBye: Sips' arrival in Episode 53. It's made more jarring due to his [[IncomingHam usual method of entrance.]]
--> '''Lewis''': Oh my god, it's Sips! Sips?
-->'''Sips''': Nice Chicken!
-->'''Simon''': Whoa!
* StealthPun: Simon is the boss. Therefore, Lewis and Duncan have to do what Simon Says.
* StuffBlowingUp: Oil Island in episode 29.
** [[spoiler:And (offscreen) the Combustion Engines in the Factory basement in episode 42.]]
* SurroundedByIdiots: [[OnlySaneMan Lewis]] has to deal with [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Simon]], [[BadBoss Sips]], and [[ObfuscatingStupidity Sjin]] in nearly every episode. Only [[TheSmartGuy Duncan]] is partially normal, but even he has moments...
--> '''Lewis''': ''(seeing Duncan line up to [[ItMakesSenseInContext purchase pork from Simon]])'' Duncan! [[WhatTheHellHero What're you doing?!]] We're supposed to be getting him back, not encouraging him!
--> '''Duncan''': But I'm hungry...
* TooDumbToLive: Once again, Simon. In Episode 54 he's gaping at how tall their factory is, before falling into one of Lewis' quarries & suffering a major HumiliationConga. In Episode 55, he attempts to recreate the incident and ends up almost falling into the quarry a second time.
** In one episode, Sjin forgets his flying ring, and promptly jumps down the flying chute, falling to his death and almost losing all his stuff.
** In the earlier episodes, most people tended to walk too close to the edge of a quarry, which often resulted in them falling to their deaths. It's got better since as they now have flying rings.
* WhamEpisode: In episode 13, [[spoiler: Lewis quits Honeydew Inc. and goes to work at Sips Co.]].
** Episode 48: [[spoiler: Simon finds a giant Sjin head under his bed, which has been tricking him into doing stuff on Pig Island.]]
** Episode 52: [[spoiler: Duncan and Lewis find the head, reveal it to be controlled by Sjin...and then find out that, apparently, Sjin (or the head, at least) is the true CEO of Sips Co.]].
* WhamLine: Lewis in episode 13 : [[spoiler: "I quit. I'm going to see if there's some work[[DramaticPause ...]] over at Sips Co."]].

!!!'''The Sipsco Dirt Factory'''
The second Tekkit/[=YogCraft=] series featuring Sips and Sjin following the series based on "Stacy Island". In this series, the two slowly try to build and run a Sipsco dirt factory and other nearby facilities, in between a lot of [[SeinfeldianConversation meandering talking]]. Had a short-lived stint when the Tekkit server updated to [=YogCraft=]; however, because so many mechanics were rendered useless, Sips and Sjin abandoned it, and in September 2013, they rebooted the series and started a new factory from scratch on a private server.
----
* ButtMonkey: Nilesy. He gets chased off of Sipsco land in his first appearance in the series, and fails his interview and is crushed to death in his second.
* CrazyPrepared: At some point, the two build a secret base in the event that their compound be raided and destroyed; unfortunately, they show its location in the video, which does sort of give it away.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: The duo build one at some point with the basic necessities such as a farm, a basic mine and power, as well as the slightly more advanced stuff such as charging their quantum armour.
* RubeGoldbergDevice: Their ludicrously complex factory for making dirt.
* SeinfeldianConversation: Easily 90% of Sips and Sjin's series.
* TeleporterAccident: In episode 91, Sips and Sjin [[spoiler: accidentally turn themselves into PettingZooPeople.]]

!!'''Feed The World'''
This series is about Sjin setting off on his own to fulfill his life long dream of building a farm. The series has essentially been ended by the Heartbleed patch for the launcher, but will continue into "Sjin's Farm" in the Yogscast Complete mod pack.
----
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** Downplayed with Sjin's shotgun. It ''is'' practical, but he rarely makes ammo for it and therefore can't use it that often. He eventually makes more ammo to compensate for this, and also widens his arsenal.
** To an extent, the area of land Sjin chose to live on. While good to start off with, he very quickly finds himself running out of space. He eventually manages to expand his territory, but was slightly panicked at first.
* BadassAdorable: Jake the Dog, who once saved Sjin from [[spoiler:Strawfingers]] in the Twilight Forest.
* BigBad: Strawfingers.
** BiggerBad: The Unnamed Wizard, responsible for Strawfingers' creation and indirectly responsible for his atrocities.
* BigDamnHeroes: Jake saves Sjin from [[spoiler:Strawfingers]] in the Twilight Forest.
* BoringButPractical: Many of Sjin's machines fall into this.
* CallToAgriculture: The whole point of the series.
* CerebusSyndrome: Initially, Strawfingers was a somewhat amusing prankster. Then his past came to light and he stopped being as funny.
* CoolPlane: Sjin makes one for crop dusting, giving people lifts in it every now and then.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: During the intro to part 20, a zombie can be seen dancing in Sjin's house.
* HypercompetentSidekick: If there was any doubt before, it's revealed that Sjin is probably the most efficient guy on the server and therefore fell into this trope during his time at Sipsco. In this series he proves that's still true, managing to build an enormous farm while starting with limited resources. Later in the show, he eventually ''runs out of room'' and has to start expanding his territory.
* LetsGetDangerous: Amusingly subverted at one point. Sjin breaks out his PoweredArmor from Sips Co to take on a Lich and starts doing well, but can't work out what exactly he's doing wrong and can't do any damage. Then his armour loses all its charge and the Lich kicks his ass handily. Double subverted when Sjin gears up properly and takes on the Lich again, only losing owing to a server bug. When he returns a third time, it's a CurbStompBattle soundly in his favour.
* KnightOfCerebus: Strawfingers, when some of his more horrible past comes to light.
* RetGone: The reason the show ended and rebooted is that the Heartbleed patch screwed up Sjin's farm irreversibly. This means that most of the characters, bar [[KarmaHoudini Strafingers]], no longer exist.
* ShotgunsAreJustBetter: Sjin makes himself one because every farmer needs his shotgun. To top that off, he builds an entire arsenal.
* TheSwarm: His automated chicken farm backfires, creating an overflow of chickens which needed to be culled via TNT and Shotgun ammo, he did get some help after he "relocated" them inside his apprentice's house.

!!'''Duncan's Laboratory'''
This series is mostly a tutorial/Let's play of Tekkit, later the modified Feed the Beast launcher, [=YogCraft=], showcasing the mod with occasional deviations into the plotlines present in the other series.
----
* AppealToForce: Duncan wants to stop the Cold War in the server, so what does he do? [[spoiler: Installs three nukes under Rythian's castle and calls it a day.]]
* GadgeteerGenius: Duncan is something of an anomaly amongst the Yogscast, in that he actually knows what he's doing.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: In part 86, during the fight with the Wither, Lewis starts freaking out in the chat because he can hear he explosions, but has no idea what was going on.
* MadScientist: Surprisingly averted, for the most part - Duncan may be absent-minded, but he is one of the saner members of Honeydew Inc. and aside from the occasional ForScience moment, never displays any signs of instability.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Putting a nuke under Rythian's base just after he'd lost his only companions and didn't ''care'' about the base anymore anyway, Duncan? ''Not'' [[TooCleverByHalf your wisest move]].
* WhamEpisode: Episode 64: [[spoiler: Duncan installs three nukes under [=BlackRock=] castle]]. This is especially whammy if you've only watched Duncan's series, because there's no mention of the server Cold War until that episode.

!!'''The Blackrock Chronicle'''
Formerly "The Tekkit Chronicle". Arguably the most plot led of series, it follows Rythian, Zoey and Teep the mute dinosaur.
----
* AppealToForce:
** [[spoiler:Duncan's method of trying to dissuade Rythian from murdering him (the nukes).]]
** [[spoiler: Rythian also has one at the beginning of Series 3 where he traps Duncan and threatens to finally kill the scientist unless he agrees to a pact of non-aggression. Sort of justified given that Rythian blamed Duncan for what had happened to Zoeya, but given that Duncan planted the nukes ''because'' Rythian was threatening aggression... Duncan would have welcomed the pact even without the threat of death.]]
* AxCrazy: Rythian, in his second season.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: [[spoiler:Duncan in Rythian's series. In the fourth episode of the second season, he traps Rythian in a force field and reveals he's rigged nukes under Blackrock Castle, all while mocking him.]]
* BreakingTheFourthWall: "Rythian... Rythian, you have to fly off now and I have to whisper something into Nilesy's ear that will be revealed two seasons from now and tie all the plots together."
* CardCarryingVillain: [[spoiler:Duncan]] in episode #3 of Rebirth. You can tell he's trying so hard to be evil, it ends up crossing over into {{Adorkable}} territory.
* CerebusSyndrome: Near the end of the first season, the mostly silly series has a turn to still-silly-but-with-a-lot-of-drama once [[spoiler:Teep is kidnapped and Operation Dino Day begins]].
* ChekhovsGunman: Rythian starts up his own series to get revenge on Sjin and Duncan after they accidentally destroy his Mage tower during their ''Tekkit War''.
* CycleOfRevenge: Basically what Rythian was causing. His quest against Duncan and Sjin for [[RealLifeWritesThePlot destroying the old world]] resulted in them individually freaking out about his "warmongering" enough to commit some rather WhatTheHellHero-esque acts, ranging from Sjin kidnapping Teep, to Duncan placing three nuclear bombs under Blackrock. Of course this only strengthens Rythian's resolve. [[spoiler: fortunately all three seem to have lightened up since the start of season three, with Rythian realising that a continuing feud would only lead to more trouble than they're prepared to risk.]]
* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: [[spoiler:Zoeya [[RunningGag repeatedly]] talked to mushrooms in season 1. Season 2 reveals that the mushrooms were sentient the whole time. Hell, they can even play instruments, and can apparently hollow out a volcano and turn it into a prison.]]
* DrowningMySorrows: [[spoiler: Rythian in episode 5, season 2. He seems to be much less depressed afterwards, though that's probably due more to the chat he had with Ravs the bartender than five mugs(!) of Scotch he downed.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Zoey's intro: Falling out of the sky into a lake, [[TheDitz then confusedly wondering what happened to her mushrooms from the previous server]] [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} and continuing to talk about mushrooms and just about anything else on her mind]] while [[TheStraightMan Rythian tries to focus on the task of revenge against Sjin]].
* EvilLaugh: [[spoiler: Duncan mocking Rythian trapped in the forcefield... well it's more of an evil giggle.]]
* HopeSpot: There's a very brief one in episode 4 of Rythian's second season. [[spoiler: Rythian has managed to outwit Duncan and escape the force field trap - [[CueTheSun as the sun rises, no less.]] Meanwhile, Zoey has finally decided to return to Blackrock Castle and protect Rythian by disarming Duncan's nuke;]] and for just a moment, it seems like everything is going to work out. But then [[spoiler: it turns out that the castle has already been almost completely obliterated, and the destruction wasn't caused by the nuke. [[FromBadToWorse There's now a dragon]] [[OhCrap loose in the overworld.]]]]
* IAteWhat: Ravs' "secrect ingredient" for his beer is apparently [[spoiler: Squid ink]], Rythian spends a few minutes gawking at him... [[SubvertedTrope then says it's good and that he doesn't care.]]
* IncrediblyLameFun: Ravs and Teep invent a game that just involves flicking a switch back and forth at high speed. (They try it once with a door, but for some reason that doesn't seem to catch on.)
* InterfaceSpoiler: Subverted. [[spoiler: We don't see Zoeya's inventory until after TheReveal, where it turns out she's carrying various types of technology.]]
* InterruptedDeclarationOfLove: [[spoiler:In episode 5 of the second season of Rythian's series, Rythian tries to tell Zoey how he feels. Right before he can though, the computer he's using to talk to her loses connection and [[MadeOfExplodium explodes]].]]
** [[spoiler: This scenario is mirrored for the finale of season 2. This time it's [[TearJerker far more tragic]], because the interrupting explosion happens to be the nuke Zoey was trying to defuse.]]
* KleptomaniacHero: Averted. In part 6 of season 3, while looking for his companions, Rythian checks the contents of a random chest he stumbles upon. He immediately stops, calls himself out on it, and continues looking for the others without looting the chest.
* TheMagicVersusTechnologyWar: Rythian focuses greatly on magic and is disgusted by the technology Honeydew Inc and Sips Co produces; both sides seem to have their in-game pros and cons.
* MoodWhiplash: Not only is the second season of Rythian's Tekkit series this compared to the others, it even has this within itself as after the first ep Zoey seems to have given up all pretenses of trying to maintain seriousness and has gone back to being her ditzy self, all while Rythian monotonely comments about how he's all alone and everyone's out to get him.
** On top of that, there is a quick moment in episode 4 of that series. After Zoey [[spoiler: overhears Duncan telling a captured Rythian that he's planted a nuke beneath Blackrock Stronghold]], she becomes serious and resolves to [[spoiler:leave Jeff and the Brown Mushroom Rebels, return to Rythian and deal with the nuke]], and that she's taking Teep with her whether he likes it or not. She then suddenly turns around and lightheartedly comments that Duncan's castle looks like Disneyland from where she's standing.
* MoralityChain: Zoey appears to be one to Rythian. [[spoiler:When she leaves him, Rythian's change from an upbeat, optimistic StraightMan to a depressed sociopath obsessed with revenge is sharp enough to cut steel.]]
* MutuallyAssuredDestruction: Duncan, at least, believes this is the best way to prevent the Cold War on the server from becoming a hot one: [[spoiler:he installs three nukes under Blackrock Hold in order to deter Rythian from attacking. Unfortunately for him, by the time he gets around to installing the nukes Rythian has become so AxCrazy that he doesn't care if his base gets destroyed whilst he's seeking revenge - all the deterrent does is make him hate Duncan even more.]]
* NietzscheWannabe: Rythian starts expressing nihilistic ideas and is emotionless in his second season. He believes the everyone's out to get him, and even stops caring about Blackrock.
* OnlySaneMan: In a hilarious personality 180 from earlier in the season, Rythian finds he has become this by episode 16 of season 2, as he witnesses the growing chaos of [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Zoey]], [[UnfazedEveryman Ravs]], [[ButtMonkey Nilesy]], and [[CuteMute Teep]] wreaking havoc on Ravs' bar.
--> "Why does this always happen to me?"
* TheReveal: In episode 28 of Rythian's series,[[spoiler: it's revealed that Zoey's been using science behind Rythian's back.]]
* {{Revenge}}: Rythian has been arming himself with all sorts of magical weaponry to get revenge against Sjin and Duncan (primarily Sjin) for what happened during the last Tekkit playthrough.
* RunningGag: In Rythian's series, we have Gilbert the snowman constantly melting and Zoeya talking to mushrooms.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: Rythian and Zoey take this trope [[UpToEleven Up to Eleven]] in their series.
* ScienceVersusMagic: This has apparently been a rivalry on the server, but it's more apparent with Rythian due to his being the server's resident mage.
** Becomes even more pronounced in episode 28 of Rythian's series, where [[spoiler:Zoey reveals that she has been using science to try and find Teep, something Rythian disapproves of so strongly that he even threatens [[YouHaveFailedMe to stop teaching her magic]].]]
** It should be noted that Rythian has become a lot more forgiving of science, as of [[spoiler:Zoey's return.]]
* ShipTease: Counting every example between Rythian and Zoey would require more appendages than a mutated octopus. Other examples include:
** Nilesy and Zoey.
-->'''Zoey:''' Do you want to look at my puppies?
-->'''Nilesy:''' [[DoubleEntendre I'll take a gander at those puppies!]]
-->'''Rythian:''' *coughs* Over here.
-->'''Nilesy:''' Oh... you meant dogs.
** Zoey's search bar in Rebirth #4 reads "lalna's kinda cute eh".
* StuffBlowingUp: [[spoiler:Blackrock Castle in Season 2 episode 4 of Rythian's series, apparently due to a dragon attack.]]
** [[spoiler:Also the finale of Season 2]]
* ThreatBackfire: [[spoiler:Duncan thinks that the threat of three nukes under Rythian's base will deter Rythian from carrying out his vendetta against Sjin and Duncan. Unfortunately for Duncan, Rythian doesn't care about [=BlackRock=] Castle, so all Duncan accomplishes is making Rythian loathe him even more.]]
* WhamEpisode: Episodes 28-29: [[spoiler:Zoey's been doing science,and leaves Rythian to create her own facility with Teep.]]
* WhamLine: Zoey in Rythian's series, episode 29 : [[spoiler:"I'm not going to be going back to Rythian's castle."]]
** Rythian's unsent message to Zoey in episode 5 of season 2: [[spoiler:"[[InterruptedDeclarationOfLove I love you]]"]]
** And another after the duo enter the twilight forest at the end of episode 8: [[spoiler: [[BroughtDownToNormal I can't feel my magic anymore.]] ]]
* WindmillCrusader: Rythian is absolutely obsessed with the evilness of technology, and blames it (along with Sjin and Duncan) for the destruction of the Old World, stating that technology causes suffering. Yet, ignores the fact that magic can be equally as dangerous, and was in large part equally responsible for the destruction of the old world arguing with Zoey when she tries to point it out a few times.
* YouCantThwartStageOne: Rythian comes up with several plans to deal with the nuke under the Blackrock fortress. These range from [[BoringYetPractical surrounding it in blast proof materials]] to using force fields of their own. Zoey keeps talking him out of it, though; always insisting that it would be best if he just let her disarm it. This is especially jarring since [[spoiler:the season 2 finale reveals that Zoey has ''no idea how to disarm the nuke.'']]

!!'''The Apprentice'''
A more recent series featuring Kim learning to play on the Yogcraft Server from the other established players.
----
* {{Angrish}}: Kim, upon finding Sjin flooded her house with chickens, and also has ''no idea'' how to get rid of them.
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** It turns out that Duncan's castle is pretty much impossible to navigate without either flight or NighInvulnerable armour. In fact, despite containing dozens of advanced machines and seemingly endless supplies of valuable resources, it doesn't even have a bed. Duncan never noticed.
** And also his spaceship is once again noted to have a very slow movement speed. This time it's put into perspective when Kim wonders what it could do to Sipsco, and Duncan estimates it would take ''four real life days'' of running time for the ship to get there.
* BiggerBad: Strawfingers is the reason that the show started the way it did, but unlike in Feed the World, he's not directly linked to the plot.
* BuriedAlive: Sjin's suggested solution to the chicken flood. Kim calls him out on it, especially when he notes they'd all drown due to her house being over a flooded quarry.
* CallBack: The tower Duncan gives Kim at his castle contained one of Zoey's giant mushrooms before Kim started decorating. Also a mythology gag
* ClothingDamage: Kim's Minecraft skin is scorched and battered looking when she arrives at Duncan's castle, as well as seemingly being covered in dirt. Not that surprising given where she'd just come from.
* ComedicSociopathy: Sips and Sjin both indulge in this when Kim tries joining Sipsco. Duncan starts to get this more and more as his arc progresses.
* ContinuityNod: The early arc at Sjin's farm overlaps heavily with his Feed the World series. for instance there are references to [[BigBad Strawfingers]] at one point. Also, the swarm of chickens that Sjin unleashed in Feed The World reappears in episode 4.
* DynamicEntry: Duncan's arc opens with him seemingly introducing a new episode of Duncan's Laboratory, only to be cut off as Kim falls from the sky and lands in the castle's fountain.
* EasilyForgiven: Duncan traps Kim in her tower due to her apparent flux exposure. 100 days later, Kim digs herself out, and tracks down Duncan rather angrily, but apart from shouting a lot, she never actually did anything to him, and simply picked up as his apprentice where she left off.
* ImmediateSelfContradiction: When Duncan shows Kim the Wine cellar.
--> '''Kim:''' I don't drink though..
** Ten seconds later, when Duncan admits that he's mostly just got rum.
--> '''Kim:''' Rum! I love Rum!
* JerkAss: Sips literally starts his arc of the series by beating Kim with a stick and yelling "You're fired!" This sets the trend for the next two episodes, until he decides to get rid of her, and [[IncrediblyLamePun fires her]] [[StuffBlowingUp in a more literal sense]].
* LeeroyJenkins: After Sjin floods Kim's house with chickens, she eventually solves it by running in with her Sword and killing them all by hand. Lampshaded with a word for word ShoutOut.
* LockedIntoStrangeness: After the massive flux exposure in episode four at Duncan's lab, Kim's arms and hands are stained purple. She only noticed this after Duncan pointed it out.
* MythologyGag: Much of Kim's first appearance at Duncan's lab seems to echo Rythian and Zoey, her entrance falling from the sky is the most notable example.
* NaiveNewcomer: Kim herself. The series is based around her learning how to play minecraft, and more recently how to use some of the mods installed on the Yogcraft server.
* OutOfTheFryingPan: Invoked by Kim upon landing at Duncan's castle and being told that there is a dangerously high level of flux. Duncan tries to assure her it's actually safe. Then warns her that [[ImmediateSelfContradiction opening a certain door would instantly kill her]]. [[SerialEscalation And also not to go anywhere near the nuclear sphere]].
* RunningGag: In Duncan's arc, him and Kim repeatedly get drunk.
* ShoutOut: "Today Kim, we're gonna [[Film/PacificRim cancel the apocalypse]]".
** [[Franchise/PiratesOfTheCaribbean "Why is the rum always gone?"]]
* StuffBlowingUp: ''Lots''.
** Sips decides to demolish part of the old Sipsco plant, and has Kim rig it with TNT and redstone. [[spoiler: He triggers the detonation before she gets clear, and blows her up as well]].
** Much later, Duncan shows Kim where Nether stars come from. By spawning a Wither. In his own courtyard. The blast was bigger than he remembered it being.
** [[spoiler:The castle eventually gets taken out when a reactor explodes, kicking off their Galacticraft series]].
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: When Kim tells Duncan Sips blew her up, he assures her he won't several times.
-->'''Duncan:'''That Sips, always blowing people up, not that I would ever do anything like that
* TookALevelInBadass: The whole point of the show is Kim learning the basics of Minecraft.
* TricksterMentor: Duncan has to date caused the most harm to Kim out of anyone she's been apprenticed to, but is also the least malicious, doing most of his damage through practical jokes.
* WhatTheHellHero:
** Kim calls Sjin out on a few things, for instance flooding her house with Chickens, and then selling her out to Sips during the Sipsco phase.
** She gets rather aggressive towards Duncan after having to dig her way out of her own tower.

!!'''Tropes across all series'''
Tropes which span the series or are present in some of the shorter series such as Nilesy's & Hannah's, Martyn & Toby's, and the Rail Bros. series.
----
* AffablyEvil: Sjin, though he is open to a good deal of AlternateCharacterInterpretation. As Rythian often notes, he can be funny, polite, and charismatic - even while engaging in thermonuclear war, sending potential poolboy candidates to their deaths in "interview chambers", and [[spoiler:attempting to manipulate both Sips Co. and Honeydew Inc. from behind the scenes]].
* ButtMonkey: Nilesy. In his and Hannah's series, he ends up getting frequently killed. Lamphaded by [[spoiler: the monitor with his info on it in Zoey's lab, which claims that his weakness is Minecraft]].
* DependingOnTheWriter: Each series has an independent tone and story, so people who appear in multiple series sometimes behave strikingly different between them.
** Sips is a nice guy who loves technology in his and Sjin's series, but is a violent sociopath who hates most technology in the main channel series.
** In Sips and Sjin's series, Rythian was a friend of theirs and a Sips Co. employee who happened to like magic. Then in his series he suddenly hates everyone who uses technology, and wants to kill Sjin for his part in destroying the old world (although he explains this by saying he was just 'using' Sipsco to get materials to build some things he needed).
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: During Sjin and Duncan's ''Tekkit War'', Rythian, Zoeya, and Maide are freaking out over them destroying everything.
** And again when Duncan summons his first Wither, Lewis is alarmed by all the explosions.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: There are multiple Yogscast members playing on the server, leading their own sagas; the Honeydew Inc. faction and Sips Co. factions are the ones with the most interaction.
* TheMagicVersusTechnologyWar: A theme on the server.
* OpenSecret: Some of them admit in-series that they found out another person's secret plans by watching their youtube videos, mainly as a poke at the video comments telling them to do so.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Voltz]]
* ApocalypseHow: The bomb that Sips and Sjin set off ended up affecting just Sips and Sjin's base and the mountain behind it (as well as killing themselves and ridgedog several times), but could have wiped out the entire map on the server.
* BoringButPractical: Ridgedog builds an elaborate defense system of missiles, poison spikes, automatic turrets, and a railgun. [[spoiler: [[CrazyAwesome Simon kills him]] [[ImprobableWeaponUser with a bucket of lava.]] ]]
* CheatersNeverProsper:
** While Sips and Sjin get by OK at first by spawning stuff in, they cheat with a red-matter bomb which almost wipes out the server, and in the process of repairing it they lose [[spoiler: nearly]] all their items and die.
** [[spoiler: Ridge's base was filled with a lot more stuff than he had any reasonable excuse to have without having spawned stuff in, after busting open his bunker the main cast begin to loot what they can, and then he winds up losing it all when his failsafe blows his base to hell.]]
* [[spoiler: CliffHanger : the ending of Voltz 23 has Ridgedog sending a missile towards the trio's bunker. The automatic defense seemingly isn't working, and the screen cuts to black as Duncan looks up at the missile falling down on him.]] They didn't even roll with the usual closing theme, instead just having extra ominous music play through the whole moment and then fade to silence.
* [[spoiler: CollapsingLair: Ridge's base at the end of the series.]]
* DeusExMachina: Ridgedog and Duncan go into creative mode to spawn rejuvenation missiles in to revert the landscape; rather justified as nobody wanted a second version of ''Tekkit War'' and they'd only been using it for a few weeks at that point.
* ElaborateUndergroundBase: [[spoiler: Ridge's base turns out to me ''much'' more than a grove of trees.]] Pretty much par for the course in Minecraft.
* EpicFail: Near the end of episode 24, Lewis, Simon, and Duncan try to fire a nuclear missile at Ridge's base. [[spoiler: They ''completely'' miss the base, and wind up blowing up the nearby ocean, because they entered the wrong co-ordinate value.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: The [[spoiler:red matter bomb]] used by Sips and Sjin to find copper in the Voltz special [[spoiler:continually kills Sips and Sjin, making access to their tools before they despawn impossible]].
* IgnoredAesop: Sips and Sjin steadfastly fail to learn anything from the Red Matter incident.
* LaserGuidedKarma:
** After almost dooming the server through the use of their Red Matter bomb, Sips and Sjin end up suffocating to death after a restoring missile fills their base with stone while they are still inside.
** Also, the fact that the only part of their base that got caught in the original Red Matter and Antimatter explosions was "Deliveries". Which was actually their supply of spawned in cheat items.
* NeverMyFault: Sips humorously claims that Sjin was the one who set the bomb off and that he had nothing to do with it.
* NoOSHACompliance: [[HyperCompetentSidekick Ridgedog]] manages to build [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PLtZHIFR5osfCI5DVbdXg_h0Uc93ELKJgc&v=g8ujWBT2UjY&feature=player_detailpage#t=296 a working fusion reactor]] with about a third of the materials usually needed. Just don't stand underneath or next to it while it's running.
-->'''Ridgedog''': It works okay, except for the fire. And the radiation.
* SelfDestructMechanism: [[spoiler: Ridge installed one in his base.]]
* StuffBlowingUp: Frequently. They all seem to be of the opinion that this is the main point of the mod.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Galacticraft/[=MoonQuest=]]]

!!Team J.A.F.F.A
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs:
** [[spoiler:The secondary moonbase]] gets hit by a meteor and ends up needing repairs.
** In Episode 96, the group returns to [[spoiler:the Jaffa Factory]] to find it occupied by hostile mobs, badly decaying, overgrown and generally looking worse for wear.
* AwesomeButImpractical:
** Zigzagged with the laser turret near Baked Bean Fort. It does take out enemies rather well (its designed purpose), but it ends up firing upon [[spoiler:and killing]] Simon a couple of times as he's not been whitelisted. It's also rather noisy.
** The guys solution to [[spoiler:the moon getting dark]]? Put lava down, of course! This nearly gets Lewis killed at least once.
** Their building material for their [[spoiler:second and soon to be primary moonbase]] is ''ham blocks''. This is also a zigzagged trope, as they have an easy way to farm it, but it's not very durable in terms of damage.
* BadassInDistress / DistressedDude:
** At various points across the show, [[spoiler:each member of the trio ends up stuck on the moon, suffocating to death at least once]].
** [[spoiler:Sips]] is still stuck on Mars. [[spoiler:He gets "rescued" in Episode 94]].
* BiggerBad: [[spoiler:_Zips]] qualifies, since he's the reason that [[spoiler:Sjin]] blackmails them into joining.
* BoringButPractical / SimpleYetAwesome:
** Lewis and Duncan's eventual plan for the moon is to use a link book (for jumping dimensions) between their firebase and the Overworld. [[spoiler:It works, and they choose not to use rockets for further travel between the two locations, later using it for mars successfully]].
** Simon thinks of a way to farm pigs for the food, and also for building [[spoiler:a second moon base]]. It involves putting a spawner down with grass, surrounding it with water and electric fences, guaranteeing they won't escape. [[spoiler:The vacuum also means they won't get far before they suffocate]].
* TheChewToy: In his first episode alone, Sjin gets electrocuted, humiliated, given a rubbish deal in exchange for his help and even punched into the smeltery, which kills him.
* DressingAsTheEnemy: Happens a few times after the Shapeshifter mod is installed. It predictably doesn't end well.
* EpicFail:
** The guys have three attempts to land a rocket on the moon. [[spoiler:Only the last one lands safely, and even then it's not a complete success because Lewis suffocates, having forgotten his oxygen gear]].
** [[spoiler:Sjin's effort to backstab Team J.A.F.F.A. was so bad that it results in him essentially being thrown out.]]
** The Shapeshifter mod results in Duncan and Simon attacking one another a couple of times.
** The end of episode 105 has to be seen to be believed. The group prepares to launch fireworks to celebrate their interactive "moonsperience." At the end, the fireworks are launched without issue, and Simon climbs into their very first rocket as a ride. Said rocket is indoors. It doesn't have fuel, so everyone thinks it will be safe. [[spoiler:It initiates the launching sequence with 7% fuel left, crashes into the ceiling and explodes on the floor, blowing up half the factory, crashing the game, and killing everyone]].
* FreudianSlip: Simon refers to Baked Bean Fort, their homebase, as Baked Bean Fart a few times, although it might not be 100% accidental.
* GenreSavvy: After the laser turret ends up firing upon Simon a few times, Lewis programmes it so that both he ''and'' Duncan are whitelisted, preventing Duncan from being victim to the same thing.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: Lewis seems to go into it a lot as the OnlySaneMan.
* HonestJohnsDealership: [[spoiler: Hat Films gives Simon a ton of gear and a new deed to Craggy Island after the Jaffa Factory explodes, but they hint afterwards that they scammed him with some dodgy terms and conditions, and plan to scam Simon and Lewis too. Unfortunately for them, [[IsThisThingStillOn Simon can still hear them.]] ]]
* TheLancer: Simon ends up being this, contrasting to Lewis' personality and work ethic.
* TheLeader: Lewis takes this role for the show.
* MeaningfulRename: As the show goes along, it gets renamed "Marsquest", then "[[spoiler:Jaffaquest]]".
* MoodWhiplash:
** After Duncan assembles the first rocket, awesome music plays. Then he realises that holding it in his hand means that his avatar is carrying it over his head and starts laughing.
** The group decide to explore a dimension known as Sludgepit 2. At first it appears lovely... then people start catching on fire because they walk into some weird flowers. ''Meteors then start raining down'', causing everyone to flee in terror.
** From the same episode as Sludgepit 2, the surprise appearance of the mutant skeleton, which interrupted their efforts at work and killed Simon repeatedly.
** After the triumphant launch of the first rocket, [[spoiler:Simon crashes it and explodes]]. The same thing happens the next couple of times.
** After the triumphant [[spoiler:and this time successful]] maiden voyage of the Mars rockets, Duncan uses the shapeshifting mod to troll Simon and nearly gets killed.
* NoOSHACompliance:
** Many examples throughout the show. Episode 67 is even called "Health and Safety Nightmare", as Lewis falls into a pool of lava the guys had been using for illumination and geothermal power, nearly burning to death.
** Falling into the smelter happened frequently as well. Sjin dies from this at least once.
** Simon's idea to keep the base safe after the turret is removed is to put electric fences directly by the doors. The plan does almost more harm to the crew than it does to the mobs, and supercharges a load of Creepers. Again, Sjin also gets killed by this repeatedly.
* PowerTrio: Once again, Lewis, Simon and Duncan form one. This goes out the window once [[spoiler:Sjin]] joins, though he leaves shortly after their mission is completed. Whether or not he'll return remains to be seen.
* SixthRanger: In Episode 88, [[spoiler:Sjin]] joins up in order to get to Mars, seemingly leaving shortly afterwards.
* TheSmartGuy: Duncan takes this role, being the best planner out of everyone.
* SuddenlyShouting: Lewis in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=bhL17zeSZbw#t=921 "King Of the Squids"]] after Simon cannot gather up any oil properly. He may or may not have had a bit to drink or not much sleep, or both.
* ThrowTheDogABone:
** The guys end up being the first group to [[spoiler:end up on the moon]].
** After being electrocuted, burning to death in the forge and being generally abused, Sjin [[spoiler:is allowed to join as their SixthRanger in order to get to Mars, even getting to launch the second rocket there]].
** After being blackmailed for their help, Team JAFFA [[spoiler:rediscover the location of the factory and begin trekking there to repair it]].
* TokenEvilTeammate: [[spoiler:Sjin]] joins the crew in Episode 88, but it's clearly for his own reasons (wanting to save [[spoiler:Sips]]) and not for the others. He blackmails his way onto the team as well, threatening to sell the Jaffa Factory to someone else, and eventually tries backstabbing them- this fails horribly.
* TookALevelInBadass: Compare Simon's terrible builds in ''Tekkit'' to his airship in this series, and his building's come along rather well.

!!Sipsco Space Programme / Sjintech Space Rescue
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: [[spoiler:_Zips blows up Slime Island with TNT, destroying all the supplies and knocking Sjin into the water, far away.]]
* AwesomeButImpractical: Some of Sjin's custom tools are made out of materials which aren't actually as useful as you'd think. This has agitated commentators no end to the point of InUniverse acknowledgement, and Sjin is getting better at it in his defence.
* BigBad: [[spoiler:_Zips]] appears to fulfil this role.
* TheChewToy: Sips and Sjin both appear to be treated like this by the others. Kim wants to take out the latter for his betrayal of her, Team J.A.F.F.A. steals from the latter at least once, and [[spoiler:_Zips kidnaps the former and blows up their base]]. When Sjin bumps into Team J.A.F.F.A at their base, they compare his space programme to North Korea.
* CloudCuckoolander: While neither Sips nor Sjin are the most rational of people, [[spoiler:_Zips]] takes the cake.
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: A baby zombie kills Sips by hitting the door once- when the door is still intact and when Sips is a block or so away. He understandably gets frustrated.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Sjin has Kim angrily remind him of the whole Sipsco incident. He then makes a sword to use exclusively for her, calling it "[[ShoutOut the Kimslayer]]".
* DistressedDude: [[spoiler:Sips]] gets kidnapped towards the end of the first series and is stuck on Mars. Doubles as PutOnABus since he's taking a short break from recording Minecraft.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: In spite of the fact that Sjin actually has a decent base and plan going for him (doubly so when you consider the fact that he's working alone) and is working rather hard, Team J.A.F.F.A compare his space programme to North Korea and Team Duncan constantly abuse him.
* EpicFail: The first episode is full to the brim with moments. What takes the cake is the fact that neither of them can find a decent shelter, at which point mobs begin rushing them and Sjin dies. After that, Sips tries tunnelling his way out and runs into a lake which floods his makeshift shelter. Then, after that, a baby zombie ''glitches an attack through the door'', killing him instantly.
* SeinfeldianConversation: Ninety per cent of what the guys say is completely random, as in their past shows. This happens to a much weirder extent when [[spoiler:Sjin and _Zips]] are talking, as the latter is really scatterbrained.
* ShoutOut: A few examples.
** Sjin makes a custom sword to use on Kim, calling it "[[Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire Kim]][[Series/GameOfThrones slayer]]".
** Sjin also names two of his custom tools [[ComicBook/TheMightyThor Thor (a hammer) and Loki (a scythe)]]. Really, the hammer should have been called "Mjolnir", but the effort is clear.

!!Duncan and Kim
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: [[spoiler:The old castle is stumbled upon eventually, and it's really in a state]].
* ArchEnemy: Kim considers Sjin this to her after his betrayal.
* BerserkButton: Kim absolutely ''flips'' when she sees that Sjin is on the server, angrily reminding him about his betrayal.
* DitzyGenius: Again, Duncan. He builds complex machinery with little trouble, but has difficulty remembering why he does so.
* ItAmusedMe: The reason that the two decide to spend the better half of an episode putting statues of people everywhere in Sjin's compound.
* SanityBall: Kim and Duncan alternate between being the OnlySaneMan and the Cloudcuckoolander, sometimes within the same scene.
* TookALevelInBadass: Compare Kim starting in Minecraft to how she does now. Her performance is considerably better, even being the first player on the server to [[spoiler:properly land on the moon, without suffocating to death]].
* XDaysSince: Due to Duncan's absentmindedness, Kim installs a "Days Without Duncan setting fire to himself" inside the sex dungeon.

[[folder:Yogscast Complete Pack]]

!!Blood and Chaos

A continuation from the Chaosville server's ''Solutions in Chaos''. Reunited after their separation as the end of the prior series, Parvis talks a reluctant LetsPlay/WilliamStrife into teaching him blood magic after [[LetsPlay/InTheLittleWood Martyn]] bluntly refuses to even touch the stuff in ''Heroes of Mine''.

* BigSecret: Parv hiding his Blood Magic training from Martyn.
* BlackMagic: This is generally what Blood Magic is considered.
* CynicalMentor: Strife
* DarkIsEvil: This is the general stance of the server on Blood Magic Martyn outright vetoes doing in in his own series with Parv, hence, leading Parv to asking Will instead. (Partially justified, since it ''usually'' involves sacrificing living mobs in order to power up altars however this is not a required component and you can get away with [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman using animals]]).
* DarkSecret: Will's apparent past in blood magic. ''"College was a weird time."'''
* EvenEvilHasStandards: While not strictly 'evil', per se, ruthless businessman Strife seems to draw the line at [[DarkMagic Blood Magic]] and is obviously only going along with it because Parv's involved.
* [[GenkiGirl Genki Guy]]: Parv. So much.
* ItAmusedMe: Parv's basic reason for doing anything, Blood Magic included, is that he wants to cause as much chaos as possible.
* MoralityChain: This is probably half the reason Will agrees to teach Parv Blood Magic: Parv using it unsupervised is potentially disastrous.
* MysteriousPast: Strife was involved in Blood Magic while at college and isn't keen to be back into it.
* NoodleIncident: The holy hand grenade adventure, at least for those who don't watch Parv's streams on Twitch.
* OrderVersusChaos: Basically the working formula for anything Will (Order) and Parv (Chaos) star in together.
* OutOfCharacterMoment: Will has one at the end of episode three culminating in him having a complete FreakOut and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkbrKNaA-L8&feature=share&list=UUueevEJA5LcN79C5vpb7awQ&index=1 trying to attack Parv before bolting out of the base.]]
** He does it again at the end of episode [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2TBPu-0PkU&list=UUueevEJA5LcN79C5vpb7awQ twenty one]] when he finds a Staff of Teleportation. It's kind of [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming adorable]].
* YouCantFightFate: Parv is pretty convinced this is why he found ''two'' blood orbs: one is for Strife. Strife [[AvertedTrope disagrees]].

!!Evicted

Hannah and Nilesy return to the server, to find that pirates have invaded Owl Island.

* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs: Owl Island has been occupied by pirates, although it isn't beyond salvation.
* BigBad: The pirates qualify at the moment, being the force occupying the island.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Nilesy- he fares quite well against the pirates despite his noobish qualities.

!!Heroes of Mine

LetsPlay/InTheLittleWood's first venture into a Minecraft series on the Yogscast Complete Pack (Yogpack) server, following a short-lived Tekkit series. It began as a lone venture, but he brought in Parvis in episode seven because trying to play alone without someone to bounce of was, to quote "numbing his brain". The goal of the series is to kill/capture every single hostile mob in Yogpack.

* ImpossibleMission: Defeating every singe mob in the Yogscast Complete pack (140 mods and counting) certainly seems... well, impossible.
* [[GenkiGirl Genki Guy]]: Parv. Martyn also has his moments.
* OddCouple
* TechnicianVersusPerformer: Martyn falls more on the former, whereas Parv is more easily distracted and prefers to entertain.

!!Sjin's Farm

The sequel series to Feed the World that takes place in the Yogscast Complete server, owing to the Heartbleed patch corrupting the previous farm. This show stars Sjin "expanding" his farm by purchasing a new deed and starting from scratch with Lewis.

* BearsAreBadNews: While no bears have actually appeared, Sjin starts a weird covnersation in "Sprinkler City" about what would happen if a bear wandered into the Vatican and somehow became Pope. Lewis says one actually did, [[SubvertedTrope being a reasonable pope that encouraged reform]], although he apparently ate several of the cardinals.
* BestialityIsDepraved: Averted, but joked about in "A House in the Hills". Once Lewis puts down a piggybank, Sjin jokes about putting a (literal) seed in it and shouting "SayMyName" [note]based off how the system helps players find mod details in order to donate to their creators[/note], with deliberate innuendo. Lewis immediately reacts in disgust.
* BigBad: Strawfingers is reportedly still around, according to Sjin's Tumblr page.
* BoringButPractical:
** Sjin's choice of building materials for the new farmhouse (which is a little less boring)- he opts for cobblestone, oak wood and clay bricks, instead of mahogany and stone bricks. It's not clear as to whether or not he's cheating.
** The duo agree on a series of gun turrets as a defence mechanism, should the less practical "mandrake trap" fail. So far, they haven't gotten round to making either.
* CallToAgriculture: Once again the point of the show.
* TheCorruption: Some tainted land is near the plot that Sjin and Lewis are working on... and to make matters worse the guys cannot contain it properly yet. Also, Duncan may be their best hope at dealing with it, yet even he's struggling.
* MadnessMantra: Mahogany doors.
* {{Metaphorgotten}}: In "The Cavern", Sjin says that he is a god-fearing man and will happily forgive... but may have to shoot people so he can forgive them. He says it's "just the farm way".
* MrExposition: Lewis serves as this for real-life science and in-game mods, although Sjin has a decent-ish understanding of both of these things anyway.
* NoOSHACompliance: Neither Sjin nor Lewis have done anything to deal with the giant chasm in their plot of land, which they cannot easily see due to the barley growing so high. Sjin tries to justify it as a way to kill any intruders and discourage trespassing, whereas Lewis is a bit more wary and wants to rectify the situation. Sjin at one point loses their horse by riding into it and forgetting to rescue him.
** Has since been resolved, with Sjin finally covering up the large crevices off-camera. Having said that, it is literally just one layer of dirt. If either of them happen to forget the crevice is there and decide to dig down in that area...
* OhCrap: Sjin and Lewis both freak out when they realise that taint is not far away from their land, and that without a high level of Thaumcraft skill it won't be easy to contain, let alone remove. To make matters worse, even Duncan's Thaumcraft skill isn't that high.
* RetGone: The farm and animals that Sjin owned have all been deleted owing to the Heartbleed patch, meaning that they technically never existed. Sjin has confirmed that Strawfingers has escaped it somehow.
* SeinfeldianConversation: Lewis and Sjin do have a few, though nowhere near as much as Sjin and Sips do. The bear conversation in Episode 11 has to be their most surreal by far.
* SchmuckBait: At one point discussed by Sjin, who wants to plant several mandrakes around the borders of the farm, with a sign saying "Don't farm our precious mandrakes". Lewis approves of the idea.
* SimpleYetAwesome:
** Sjin's choice of building materials for the house is hardly fancy, but he's still made a decent and cool house with what he used.
** Lewis and Sjin agree on a series of gun turrets for the border defence.
* TemptingFate: After a few mandrake attacks, Lewis reckons that it will be sufficiently safe to harvest them as it is late enough. Guess what happens ''immediately'' after he says this.
-->'''Sjin:''' Oh, we're not going to get any now!
-->'''Lewis:''' I think that's fine. I think it's sufficiently night time that they're probably gonna be alright to harvest.
-->'''Sjin:''' Oh, the moon's high enough, okay... (farms a bush and causes a mandrake to spawn, running away and screaming) You said that!
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: Inverted. Sjin gets distracted by talking about how he dislikes cucumbers.

!!Strife Solutions ([=WilliamStrife=])

After the end of Solutions in Chaos, Strife returns to his content roots in the form of what is essentially a guide to Minecraft Yogspack, while also creating the Strife Solutions Business Park. Occasionally he wanders off to visit Parv in ''Blood and Chaos''.

* ActuallyPrettyFunny: Half of Will's actions come off like this.
* ConstructionIsAwesome: It can't be denied, Will's builds are pretty awesome.
* EvilTowerOfOminousness: The design of Strife Solutions tower, quite deliberately so.
* FirstNameUltimatum: His separation from Parv at the start of the series marks the only time Will has ever called him [[FirstNameBasis Alex.]]
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Seems to be what he's going for.

!!Modded Madness ([=BebopVox=]

!!Modventures Season 3

[[/folder]]

[[folder:PvP maps]]
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Once Sips and Sjin join Team Yogs against Team HAT, they both start showing shades of this. Sips stands out in particular; becoming both a master marksman and a very pragmatic tactician, all the while keeping his usual comic persona.
* EpicFail:
** When Sips and Sjin competed with Simon and Lewis in "Race for the Wool", they had quite a few of these. They got swarmed by mobs and killed much more frequently than Simon and Lewis, their trap didn't work, and their cheating attempt ended badly too.
** It takes ''three'' Sky Island pvp matches before everyone participating is able to set up a proper cobblestone generator, even Duncan and Sjin, who at the time it went up were running their own Sky Island survival ''with a working cobblestone generator.''
* LaserGuidedKarma: Sips and Sjin cheated so many times in the Race for the Wool series and got hit by this hard. They built a bridge across when they weren't supposed to and tried building a trap for them. It didn't work and they died quickly, the trap untouched. Then they stole their wool and failed to find any more.
