->''"When the family rock farm is in trouble, Pinkie Pie tries to help in the best way she knows how--by planning a Ponyville 'rock' concert: Ponypalooza! The party will be super-duper cool and is sure to save the farm. But...Pinkie's family doesn't like the idea and wants her to be serious for once in her life. What's a pony to do?"''

The second officially licensed ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'' chapter book of a series of books by G. M. Berrow, and part of the overall Franchise/MyLittlePonyGeneration4 universe. Just like ''Literature/TwilightSparkleAndTheCrystalHeartSpell'', this also takes place some time after season three. This book is centered around Pinkie Pie and it expands more on her family by giving them official names and personalities. The main source of conflict for this book is the huge differences between Pinkie's exuberant personality and her family's stoic-ness.

!!This book provides examples of:

* AllThereInTheManual: WordOfGod [[https://twitter.com/gmberrow/status/352541687517679618 confirms]] the individual identities of Marble Pie and Limestone Pie, which the book itself hints at but doesn't explicitly state. Later made clear in the Season 5 episode "Hearthbreakers".
* ContinuityNod:
** Pinkie has been using a wall planner since [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E3TooManyPinkiePies the incident involving the Mirror Pool]].
** Pinkie references [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E23TheCutieMarkChronicles her first party]] when her family arrives.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Marble and Limestone Pie display none of the personality traits they'd have when [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E21Hearthbreakers they debuted in the show]].
* TheGhost: Pinkie's third sister, Maud Pie, is only mentioned ([[NoNameGiven and not by name]]). She's running the rock farm while her relatives are visiting Ponyville.
* {{Hammerspace}}: ''Pinkie pulled three sets of mini spring-loaded shoes just like hers seemingly out of nowhere. It was almost like magic, but it wasn’t--it was just Pinkie.''
* HisNameIs: After greeting Marble and Limestone, Pinkie Pie is about to ask where her older sister is, but Igneous responds that she stayed at the farm before Pinkie can drop her name. It's not until season 4 that we learn her name: Maud Pie.
* InSeriesNickname: Iggy for Igneous, and Limey for Limestone.
* MarketBasedTitle: The UK print of the book shortens the title to ''Pinkie Pie and the Rockin' Pony Party''.
* MetaphorIsMyMiddleName: Pinkie ''Serious'' Pie.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: The Pie family receives official names in this book, as does [[AscendedFanon Davenport]].
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** The Pies are having trouble selling rocks... because after the Crystal Empire was saved by the Mane Six, it started a jewel craze.
** Pinkie's parents ask Pinkie to be more serious, and it causes some major issues for a good portion of the book.
* NoNameGiven: Pinkie's third, older sister. The series proper reveals it's Maud.
* ShoutOut: Various ponyfications of artists: [[Music/NineInchNails Nine Inch Tails]], [[Music/{{Switchfoot}} Switchhoof]], [[Music/JayZ Neigh-Z]], [[Music/ColdPlay Coldhay]], [[Music/TheWho the Whooves]] and [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Mayer John Mare]].
* SuddenNameChange: Chapter 3 of the story mentions Sweetie Drops, while one of the bonus activity pages lists Bon Bon. These are two formerly [[AdaptationNameChange separate]] official names of one pony, though she doesn't appear in the book herself.
