Another anthropomorphic web novel by acclaimed author Creator/KyellGold, connected to his ''Literature/OutOfPosition'' series (and, consequently, to the Forrester series as a whole, including ''Literature/DangerousSpirits'').

In France, young bisexual [[PantheraAwesome white tiger]] Danilo just receives news of his cousin's {{coming out story}}. Already bullied for being an anglophone in a french speaking country, this obviously doesn't go well for him. Already uncomfortable with his attraction to men and uncaring about LGBT struggles, Danilo gets pissed off at his cousin for unwittingly causing him to be mocked, and almost decides to cut ties with his friend Taye, a mouse who loves him and who he, too, is somewhat attracted to.

Then his cellphone falls into the Saone, and as the river floods over, Danilo wakes up back in time in 1508 A.D.. Thrust into the [[TheDungAges brutal, disgusting medieval environment]], Danilo is forced to confront a dangerously homophobic world. The race is on for him to return home, and to save Luc, a gay otter condemned for his sexuality.

Divided into 66 parts, the novel's chapters were posted from June 2013 to February 2014. You can read it on Kyell's [=FurAffinity=] page or on [[http://kyellgold.com/wpblog/camouflage-by-kyell-gold/ his website]].

----
!! This novel provides examples of:

* AllJustADream: [[spoiler:Subverted: Danilo most likely did genuinely travel back in time to France, as he has a chapel built in his name and brought into existence Luke (the implied descendent of Luc).]]
* ArmouredClosetGay: Danilo, who is at first uncomfortable with his bisexuality and obviously tries to keep it a secret in medieval France, [[spoiler:and Archbishop Argile, who has become a downright sociopathic monster because of this, raping convicted gay men behind doors just before they're executed.]]
* BoomerangBigot: [[spoiler:Argile, being closeted homophobe as he is]]. By extension, [[spoiler:possibly Cobb]].
* CorruptChurch: The Catholic Church, not being a huge surprise since this is an LGBT story set in medieval France. That said, Catholicism itself is not at all treated negatively, with Luc being a sincere Catholic, [[spoiler:and in the end Danilo becomes a saint to the rescued gay men]].
* TheDungAges: You're not in the least spared from medieval France's horrid hygienic conditions, brutality and ignorance.
* {{Gayngst}}: At the beginning of the story, Danilo is about as internally homophobic as a bi teen in France gets. Then he gets shoved into medieval France, and his problems only get worse. [[spoiler:Thankfully, his tribulations help him overcome this]].
* GroinAttack: [[spoiler:The story contains a first-person account of being ''castrated''.]]
* {{Jerkass}}:
** The prisoner who goes almost instantly from treating Danilo as a saint for feeding him, to insulting him as an abomination for being gay.
** Bertrand, a BoomerangBigot of an innkeeper who constantly insults Luc for being gay and eventually sells him out to the Church, despite having previously accepted sexual favors from Luc to help pay for Danilo's stay. [[LaserGuidedKarma Danilo brings his homosexual activities to the Church's attention in retribution.]]
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:Argile never pays for his heinous deeds, beyond Luc not being killed and fading from historical records. On the other side, later research by Danilo indicates that the Archbishop died within the year.]]
* KnightTemplar: Most of the Catholic Church, being presented as people whose idea of "peace and morality" is all about cruel punishment towards people who truly don't deserve it. Argile initially presents himself as a zealous persecutor, but it quickly becomes apparent that his motives are more selfish.
* IdenticalGrandson: Several of Danilo's friends evidently had ancestors in Tigue, and they resemble each other so much that Danilo mistakes them for the other on first meeting them.
* LightIsGood: Played with, subverted and reconstructed. Danilo is a white tiger, but he starts off as a self-loathing, frankly bigoted person, [[spoiler:though by the end he grows out of it, and even becomes a downright saint figure to the gay men he saved]]. The medieval Catholic Church sees white-furred individuals as especially sacred and divine, [[spoiler:but that doesn't save Danilo from being persecuted by them]]. Archbishop Argile is a classical case of LightIsNotGood, being a white furred church official that is absolutely corrupt and vile.
* TheMarvelousDeer: Subverted to hell and back. Argile, whose pelt is white and thus considered a holy man, is nothing short of a sociopathic monster. Cobb, the other deer character (and implied to be Argile's descendent/reincarnation), is just a petty bully.
* MessianicArchetype: [[spoiler:By the end of the story, Danilo's actions lead him to be remembered as an aspect of ''Jesus himself'' to the gay men he rescued, and his activism surely may make him this to the people of today]].
* TheSociopath: Argile. Besides being a moral blackhole with no legitimately likeable traits, he also bears several diagnostic traits of psychopathy.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Argile is a white coloured stag, but very much a sick bastard.
