Numerous characters, events, and locations of significance in the books are represented by themes, many of which, of course, are worked into subsequent movements.

* Thunderous, deafening technomusic seems to be the defining leitmotif in ''FanFic/RedLightning'', especially for the Underground. This ties in nicely with their "Unnatural" theme.
* In ''VideoGame/NumberZeroIggysCastle'', the Shopkeeper has his own motif that starts out 8-bit and adds more modern instruments the further you progress in the game.
