!!Rogue Squadron
* General Salm is the cause of a minor one. After the briefing for the first strike at Blackmoon, he withdraws his earlier slew of charges against Corran Horn for conduct in the previous battle. Why? He has a very bad feeling about Blackmoon, and would rather have Corran flying with them than grounded by the charges.

!!Wedge's Gamble
* Wedge having a short, but pleasant conversation with Leia. Since she doesn't get much screen time, it's really nice to see her getting to bond and spend time with an old friend.

!!The Krytos Trap
* Similar to the scene in ''Wedge's Gamble'', Wedge and Luke's bro-hug at the end.
* Everyone's reactions to Corran still being alive.
* The NR officials telling everyone that their suspicion of Tycho was actually a gambit to draw out Isard, and that no one should harbor any doubts over his loyalty. After everything he's been through, he more than deserves it.

[[folder:Wraith Squadron novels]]
!!Wraith Squadron
* Kell's second declaration of love to Tyria - after she shot down his first one for guessing, correctly, that he was taken in by her looks without knowing anything about her. He says he's had plenty of time to learn what an amazing person she is, that he wants to make a future with her, and no matter how long it takes, he will make himself into a man worthy of her. She responds by tackling him to the floor, planting a BigDamnKiss on his lips, and telling him it's about damned time.
** When Kell undergoes a HeroicBSOD after failing to save [[spoiler:Jesmin]], and worse, [[YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame receiving a medal for his outstanding flying]], Tyria takes hold of him and demands BrutalHonesty, promising to give it in return. Being his lover doesn't mean that she's stopped being his friend, and being his friend obligates her to [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre kick his ass when he's being too hard on himself.]]
* Piggy captures a Corellian Corvette and jokingly asks if he can keep it. Wedge says that he could transfer to Fleet Command and retain command of it if he really wanted to. Piggy opts to stay with Starfighter Command because of the fame: people remember Wedge for the Battle Of Endor but 'who remembers the name of the captain or gunner on ''Home One'' at the same battle?' Wedge replies that ''he does''.
* After [[spoiler: Jesmin]] dies, Wedge stays up for hours, trying to write the letter of notification to her uncle. It's described as being incredibly difficult for him, trying to find the right words to express his respect for his downed pilot and regret for their loss. So many commanders could've just slapped together a condolence letter, but it takes him hours--in fact, almost the entire night--because he wants to honor [[spoiler: Jesmin]]'s memory by doing it ''right.''
** Though not dwelt on, it's also discussed throughout the series that writing these letters is always hard for him, and moreover, he's proud of that. Because the day he finds it easy is the day he stops valuing the lives of his people.
** Similarly, after losing Castin (who's been almost nothing but rude, speciesist, and insubordinate throughout), he's furious. Because no matter how obnoxious his pilot was, that was still his pilot.
** Ackbar's conversation with Kell at the end, telling him that while the loss of [[spoiler:Jesmin]] saddened him, he was uplifted to know she died surrounded by friends like Kell - who performed a near-suicidal maneuver to try to keep her X-Wing from crashing.
* During the last battle against Zsinj's forces, Kell has another panic attack and starts to fly away, before remembering that the woman he loves is in danger and depending on him. It's that simple, and that's all it takes for him to snap out of it.

!!Iron Fist
* After Dia [[ShootYourMate shoots Castin]] and undergoes a HeroicBSOD, Face takes her in his arms and keeps her from killing herself. Later he asks about the last time she really enjoyed herself, and then the last time she felt safe in someone else's company.
--> '''Dia:''' It was when I was at my worst. When I had shot Castin, when I'd desecrated the corpse of a brave man and pretended to do it with glee. When I tried to kill myself and you would not let me. Just before I fell asleep, I knew that you would not let anyone hurt me. You would not even let me hurt myself. And in that moment I knew myself safe, for the first time since I was a child. [...] That's what I wanted to say to you, what I didn't know how to say before. That I know you feel you failed Ton Phanan. But you did not fail me.
* In any of the Wraith Squadron books, any time the words "morale" and "boost" are in close proximity, an adorably ZanyScheme will ensue shortly. Two notable ones are Runt's formal dance, and Wedge's "rebellion of anonymity" on the ''Mon Remonda''.
!!Solo Command
* The romance between Myn Donos and Lara Notsil. Until he learns that she is actually Gara Petothel, the spy who killed his previous squadron.
** They manage to move on, and as of ''Mercy Kill'' they're HappilyMarried with four kids.
* When Lara/Kirney infiltrates the ''Iron Fist'' crew, her only reminder of her time with Wraith Squadron is her faithful astromech, Tonin. Their interactions are Funny, Heartwarming, and TearJerker all rolled into one:
-->'''Kirney''': I may get myself killed here, and if I do, the same will probably happen to you.\\
'''Tonin''': [[foldercontrol]]

[[folder: I'm glad I'm here. ]]
\\
'''Kirney''': Me, too. You're my only friend, Tonin.\\
...\\
'''Kirney''': I had an idea as to how we can destroy ''Iron Fist''. You'll have to do most of the work. But if we succeed, you may become the most famous R2 unit ever. Well, maybe second, after Artoo-Detoo.\\
'''Tonin''': [[/folder]]

[[folder: That would be nice. ]]

** Then her droid, of all things, begging her to not make a HeroicSacrifice in the name of RedemptionEqualsDeath (doubles as a TearJerker):
--->'''Tonin''': [[/folder]]

[[folder: You'll die if you do this. ]]
\\
'''Kirney''': Maybe. Probably.\\
'''Tonin''': [[/folder]]

[[folder: Don't. ]]

* At the end of the book, Wedge and Han prove themselves to be [[ShipperOnDeck shippers on deck]] for Myn/Lara. When she sends Myn one more message, Han orders it to be sent to Myn, then to delete all other copies. When a crew officer complains, Han suggests sending Chewie up to "explain." Wedge, meanwhile, notes that personally, he'd be happy to work with her if the law wasn't in the way.
** Earlier, when Donos was under a HeroicBSOD over learning her identity, Wedge bends the rules as far as he possibly can to keep him in the squadron.

!!Starfighters of Adumar
* Wedge and Tycho are the only members of Red Flight still flying after a four-vs-thirty fight, and both of their fighters are badly damaged. Any further combat will likely kill them. Enter the Strike The Moons Flightknife, here to prove that there's more to Adumari honor than who you've managed to kill. Strike The Moons buys time for the last of Red Flight to escape by attacking a nominally friendly squadron.
--> '''Captain ke Mattino''': You have won your departure. I will not allow some honor-grubber to deprive you of it in this fashion.
** And then Wedge finds out later that Mattino died in the battle, which goes straight into TearJerker territory. That being said, Mattino died in his cockpit, fighting for a friend and a genuinely honorable cause. What better death could an Adumari pilot possibly ask for?
* Wedge and Iella's BigDamnKiss and EarnYourHappyEnding. Especially since Iella is insisting that she needs to keep her walls up, that what happened long ago has to define them, and Wedge ''almost'' walks out the door... but then he turns around, takes her in his arms (making sure that she can resist if she's not comfortable), and kisses her deeply, with Iella almost immediately returning it.
* Wedge talking to Cheriss about perceived vs actual honor:
-->“I told you how I lost my parents. Nothing I ever do can make up for that loss. But if I put myself in the way of people just as bad as the ones who killed my family, if I burn them down, then someone else they would have hurt gets to stay happy. That's the only honorable thing about my profession. It's not the killing. It's making the galaxy a little better.”
** Cheriss ends up showing some CharacterDevelopment and genuinely thanking Wedge for saving her life, and telling him she wants to be a New Republic pilot.
* Wedge meets his opposite number on the Imperial side, Admiral Rogriss, and deduces that the man is facing the same honor vs. career decision he is. He promises Rogriss that if he gets orders he can't live with, he can come over to the Rebels, and Wedge will personally ensure that his son and daughter know what happened.

!!Mercy Kill
* The few shout-outs to Lara and her "King of the Droids" plan in ''Mercy Kill'', since it's obvious that the old Wraiths know what she did for her squadron and are happy to tell the younger ones about it. Add that to the fact that Piggy is clearly happy to see Kirney when she shows up in a cameo, and the fact that she and Myn definitely did end up together, and it warms the heart to know that for once the poor, damaged woman has something good going for her, and a former squadron who hasn't forgotten her contributions.
** Bonus points for the fact that Piggy recognizes ''Kirney'', meaning that she and Myn trusted at least a few of their former squadmates to know that she had in fact survived.
* Kell and Tyria have a daughter named ''Jesmin''. The earliest Wraiths are not forgotten.
** Also that Jesmin and Wedge's daughter Myri were apparently childhood friends. The Wraiths were never as close to Wedge as the Rogues, so that's doubly sweet that that bond is there.
* At first, Voort has problems working with Scut, a Yuuzhan Vong who joined the new iteration of Wraith Squadron. Scut is quite hostile to Voort at first, which he puts down to FantasticRacism or just Scut being a {{Jerkass}}, but Voort soon figures out the real reason why: Because Scut is the adopted son of a man saved by the Wraiths decades ago, and he hero-worshipped Voort, who responded to him with dismissive FantasticRacism of his own. Once Voort gets over himself (thanks to a WhatTheHellHero speech and JerkassRealization), they get on much better.
* The finale, when Face announces that Wraith Squadron doesn't have to be gone for good. After all, he's the new head of Galactic Alliance Intelligence, and every intelligence agency needs an off-the-books unofficial team to run errands for them every once in a while. Given that this ended up being the last X-Wing book, it's nice that the final image is the team coming together to buy--er, steal--breakfast and get ready for their next mission. Long live Wraith Squadron.
