* Granny Weatherwax's first meeting with Baron Saturday. Granny is uncomfortable with zombies and dislikes that Mrs. Gogol made one, but she notes that he seems to be more sentient than many of the living people she's met, and she remembers that a person has to ''want'' to come back for a reason more powerful than death. She looks into his eyes and realizes they are blazing, then she holds out her hand.
-->'''Granny:''' [[WhatMeasureIsANonHuman Very pleased to meet you, Mister Saturday]].
* When Granny loses her hat (inside an alligator) Gogol tries to send Mr. Saturday after it, but Granny refuses to let him even though a hat is one of the most important things a witch can have. This is especially heartwarming when you realise that Granny is uncomfortable around zombies and yet she still refuses to let him go.
** Afterwards, Gogol gives Granny her own good hat that she wears on special occasions to replace it.
* Granny’s affection for her sister Lily. Despite their tragic history and ironic twists on their roles in life, Granny refuses to hand her over to Gogol and even offers to take her back to Lancre. When they are being sucked into the mirror world, Granny's hand is sliced to ribbons by punching through the mirror to catch Lily. [[spoiler: In the end, she failed.]]
** At the end of the story, Granny obtains some closure and peace over her past with her sister. Having previously argued with Magrat over doing good, she admits that "good and bad is tricky", indirectly forgiving her sister for having gone off the rails as well as indirectly making peace with Magrat on their ethical debate.
