* ''For nearly forty years this story has given faithful service to the Young in Heart; and Time has been powerless to put its kindly philosophy out of fashion. To those of you who have been faithful to it in return ...and to the Young in Heart... we dedicate this picture.''
* The Scarecrow and Tin Man both vowing to get Dorothy to the Emerald City after they've been threatened by the Witch.
* "I think I'll miss you most of all...."
* Try as you might, you'll probably never find someone who didn't love [[AwardBaitSong "Over the Rainbow"]] the first time they heard it.
* [[TearJerker "Now I know I've got a heart, because it's breaking."]]
* "Oh Auntie Em, [[TheresNoPlaceLikeHome there's no place like home!]]"
* This one takes a bit of thinking, but when Marvel finds out Dorothy is running away from home, he uses his so-called "crystal reading" abilities to tell her that Auntie Em is crying because she left, and that she's sick. Manipulative? Yes, but it's actually pretty sweet when you realize he's doing it to try and convince a young girl to go home.
-->"Poor little kid, I hope she gets home alright..."
** Then, when he hears she was hurt during the storm, he goes to see if she is alright. This for a girl he met once.
* When Glinda calls out the Munchkins to meet Dorothy, the first thing they do when they find out she (accidentally) killed the Wicked Witch of the East is throw a huge celebration and parade for her, and declare her worthy of having a bust in their Hall of Fame.
* After the Wicked Witch of the West melts, the Winkie guards are free and cheer Dorothy for killing her.
-->"HAIL TO DOROTHY, THE WICKED WITCH IS DEAD!"
** A moment earlier, as Dorothy exclaims that she didn't mean to kill the Witch, the Tin Man looks as if he's on the verge of tears. It could be that he's worried about what the guards will do to Dorothy, not knowing yet that they're happy the Witch is dead, but it could also be that he has enough heart (despite lacking a physical one) to feel pity for the Witch after watching her gruesome demise.
* When the Scarecrow and the Cowardly Lion are chewing out the Wizard after finding out he's a fraud, the Scarecrow criticizes him for not being able to give Tin Man and Cowardly Lion what they wanted, and the Lion and the Tin Man criticize him (in unison, no less) for not being able to give Scarecrow what he wanted. They never mention how he can't give them what ''they themselves'' wanted.
* The Wizard is actually a pretty nice guy once his scam is exposed. He speaks kindly and encouragingly to all our heroes. Of particular note is his dialogue with the Tin Man:
-->'''Wizard''': As for you, my galvanised friend, you would like a heart. You don't know how lucky you are not to have one; hearts will never be practical until they can be made unbreakable.
-->'''Tin Man''': But I still want one.
* Once Toto escapes the Wicked Witch, the first thing he does is find the trio to lead them to rescue Dorothy. Talk about man's best friend.
* Just the sheer amount of devotion and love the [[TrueCompanions Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Dorothy]] have for one another after they've known each other for, what? Three days, at most? Apparently, [[FireForgedFriends there are some things you just can't share without ending up liking each other, and being threatened by a Wicked Witch is one of them.]]
-->'''Dorothy:''' Oh, you're the best friends anybody ever had. And it's funny, but I feel as if I've known you all the time. But I couldn't have, could I? \\
'''Scarecrow:''' I don't see how. You weren't around when I was stuffed and sewn together, were you? \\
'''Tin Man:''' And I was standing over there rusting for the longest time. \\
'''Dorothy:''' Still, I wish I could remember. But I guess it doesn't matter anyway. (''smiles'') We know each other now don't we? \\
'''Scarecrow:''' (''chuckles'') That's right. \\
'''Tin Man:''' (''smiles'') We do.
* The exchange between Dorothy and the Lion as they say goodbye.
-->'''Dorothy:''' Goodbye, Lion. You know, I know it isn't right, but I'm going to miss the way you used to holler for help before you found your courage.
-->'''Lion:''' Well, I never would've found it if it hadn't been for you.
* The guard before the Wizard in the Emerald City is at first unsympathetic and rude, turning the group away, but when he hears Dorothy break down sobbing over the fact that she'll never see her aunt again, he begins to cry too, and sends the group in, promising he'll make sure they get their audience somehow.
** Even sweeter if you accept the theory that all of Frank Morgan's Oz roles are actually the Wizard in disguise.
* The ending when Dorothy wakes up. Her aunt and uncle are tending to the head injury she acquired from the twister and had moved her to her bedroom. The farmhands and even Marvel are there to make sure that she’s alright.
* The sole reason why Creator/{{MGM}}[=/=]Creator/WarnerBros keeps on reissuing the film to cinemas at least once every five to ten years, best exemplified in the 1949 re-release trailer.
--> ''Brought back in response to more requests than for any other picture.''
