* When Sirius stumbles across the Room of Requirement he's missing Remus so badly that it ends up becoming a 'Moony Room'. It's filled with jumpers and records and books, all things Sirius associates with Remus.
* James and Lily's date at Madame Puddifoot's. James makes Lily laugh with his awkward comments and the fact he's put so much product in his hair that she can tap her knuckles against it.
** While spying on James and Lily's date at Madame Puddifoot's, Remus and Sirius end up sharing the same armchair so they can both hide under the invisibility cloak. It's heavily implied Remus is sat on Sirius' lap.
** Peter isn't sure what kind of flowers his date likes, so he ends up getting one of each and putting them together into a bouquet.
* We get one of our first glimpses of the heroic man that James will become when he is furious that Sirius' prank might get Snape killed.
-->'''James''': You should have thought of that before you went running your mouth off about someone else’s secrets. I can’t believe you.
-->'''Sirius''': I didn't. You're not being fair.
-->'''James''': You did! You did, all right? You didn’t mean to, and who doesn’t like the thought of Snape getting destroyed by a tree, and I understand how it happened, but the point is you ran your mouth off and now other people are going to pay for it. So be quiet and ''deal with it''.
** James then tells Snape exactly why he bothered to save his life.
--->'''James''': And I want you to know that I didn’t do it for you, because your pathetic, snot-nosed little life isn’t worth one tiny constipated turd, in my personal opinion. I did it for Remus, because he’s worth a thousand of you and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him. Including this.
** Despite being upset after being insulted by his friends, Peter is the one who thinks to run and get Professor Dumbledore which turns out to be the one thing that stops Snape from telling the entire school about Remus.
** Sirius crawling into Remus' bed in the hospital wing after the incident with Snape, first as a dog, and then turning human so he can hug him.
* After awkwardly having The Talk with Sirius, James' father then admits that he sees him as a son.
-->'''Mr Potter''': You’re like a son to me, Sirius, lad.
