* Maggio's genuine friendship to Prewitt after he's been mistreated. He convinces him to come into town and enjoy his night, being the friend he needs. It even extended off camera, where Montgomery Clift and Frank Sinatra became close friends and Clift coached Sinatra on how to play the softer scenes.
** Warden takes pity on Prewitt almost immediately after seeing him keep taking the punishments Holmes is dishing out without complaint, and the unfair treatment from the Non Coms. He says he'll sneakily get him weekend passes, knowing that Captain Holmes will sign anything he puts in front of him without looking it, freeing Prewitt up to see his girl again.
* Prewitt and Lorene's LoveAtFirstSight. They see each other from across the room, and the latter gives him a sincere smile. Sure it's part of her job, but later on she says she liked him as soon as she saw him so there was definitely something genuine there.
* Prewitt tells Warden that, despite his fears about turning into Holmes, he thinks Warden would make a fine officer.
* Warden's DueToTheDead when he [[spoiler: finds Prewitt's body. He describes him as a friend first and foremost, and an excellent soldier]].
