* The end of ''ComicBook/{{Judgment Day|ECComics}}''. The story features a human astronaut arriving to a planet where the population is divided by color, orange and blue. The two are functionally identical aside from color, yet one has fewer rights than the other for no reason. The human is a representative of a galactic federation, and eventually decides that the planet is unworthy of joining due to their bigotry. Back in his spaceship, the astronaut removes his helmet [[spoiler:revealing that he is black]].
* In RealLife, how EC found a way to more than survive with ''Magazine/{{Mad}}'', it thrived with a publication that helped redefine American humor while skewering the self important MoralGuardians who tried to destroy it.
* In the story "Transformation Complete" (''Weird Science'' #10) a scientist named Emil Hinde invents a formula that can change the patient's gender. Emil is also a BoyfriendBlockingDad to his daughter Terry and he fears that she's going to leave him when she marries her boyfriend Lee. Lee comes over with a cold and Emil gives him an injection of medicine. Strange things begin to happen to Lee: his skin softens and he stops growing facial hair. This along with a sudden desire to stay clothed and decline swimming causes tension and he argues with Terry before suddenly disappearing. Terry puts two and two together: her father gave Lee the formula to turn him into a woman. She disappears with some formula, causing what Emil was trying to prevent all along. Months later he's invited to their wedding and he comments: "Terry made a very handsome groom and Lee, a lovely bride." While the story probably wasn't written to support gender fluidity it still has a message about ThePowerOfLove.
* The VitriolicBestBuds nature of the [=GhoulLunatics=]. They'll talk a big game about hating each other, then gracefully split the limelight three ways, go to bat for one another, or share a cackle over something no one could find funny but them.
* "Shoe Button Eyes" is soul-crushingly depressing right up until the very end. The protagonist is Billy, a little blind boy whose loving but sickly mother marries an abusive tyrant. The absolute [[HateSink hate sink]] [[WickedStepmother wicked stepfather]] terrorizes both Billy and his mother, and tears out the shoe-button eyes of Billy's teddy bear to mock his own blindness. At the end, the mother dies of her illness after spending money meant for her medicine on new shoe-button eyes for the teddy bear. In a fit of rage, the stepfather beats Billy to death. But then, [[spoiler:the teddy bear comes to life and savagely kills the stepfather, and sews the buttons onto ''his'' eyes. And Billy and his mother are reunited in Heaven. It's the best Christmas he's ever had, because he can finally see, and "everything's so pretty."]]
** Hell, even The Old Witch, who normally has a morbid one liner to end these gruesome tales, is in tears!
