* Why do Qubo airings and the DVD box set of this show use the Singapore prints of the episodes, where the original American voice actors are re-dubbed with another English cast? Is this supposed to be an error or something, or do they apparently think the Singapore prints are much better?
** That's possible, but it's also possible that they just plain didn't have the English prints. There are a number of ways things can get lost forever, so the Singapore prints could be all they had to work with.
** The most likely explanation for this is royalties from the celebrity voice actors used in the originals. There was likely a contract that only allowed them to license the celebrities for TV airings and whatever home media formats existed at the time (something similar happened with Muppet Babies). This could explain why the episodes with the celebrity voices were released to VHS and audio casettes, but not DVD.
** Exactly, it might seem crazy from a modern perspective, but TechnologyMarchesOn DVDs and streaming just weren't foreseen when PBS commissioned the show back in the mid-TheNineties 90s. That doesn't explain the re-runs, though.
