* One of the earliest moments in the series that will elicit a laugh is during the otherwise hazardous Straits of Magellan. Due to an argument belowdecks, Sancho and Pedro inadvertently steer the ship in such a way that causes a scheming Gomez and Gaspard to lock lips. Later, when Mendoza orders the ship to turn to starboard, Gaspard loses his balance once more, to Gomez's clear dismay.
* Several times, Esteban gets side tracked by butterflies. Lampshaded by Tao during the trip to the Fort of the Black Eagle, who speculates that there may be no butterflies in Spain. This trait receives a call back in season two, when Esteban follows a butterfly around a Shaolin temple.
* While in China, Ambrosius tour the locals by introducing himself as a member of the Order of the Hourglass. His tone is upbeat and overly enthusiastic. However, people aren't welcoming and they slammed their door on his face. As more people he visit, his tone becomes less enthusiastic, more neutral and then depressed.
* Gaspard tries to demonstrate how to fire a rifle to a squadron of Japanese infantrymen, and ends up almost killing the Daimyo.
* Esteban tried to sneak out at night so he can explore a temple nearby, defying Mendoza's orders to wait in the morning. On his way out, Zia caught him. Esteban tried to make up excuses and Zia cut him off by saying she's been waiting for him for a long time so they can sneak out together.
* [[LetsGetDangerous Kokapetl flies straight inside Zares's hood to peck his face]], causing him to fall off a ledge.
* There is nothing funny in seeing Zarès domineering and threatening the children, but there ''is'' humor in having his simple presence unnerve shady characters like Gaspard and Jabar. The latter's [[OhCrap reaction]] in particular is priceless. And Laguerra may have her problems with Ambrosius, but this part of the job, she definitely seems to enjoy :
--> '''Laguerra:''' (to Gaspard) Piece of advice : you should never question Ambrosius' orders. That could anger him, and when he's angry, he looks like ''this''. (cue Zarès)
* The sailors' trial before the King of Mutapa is a big one :
** First there is Pedro and Sancho's trial being interrupted by the king's sister ; the king facepalms because of his sister's antics and Mendoza facepalms when he hears that his companions did something that could earn them the death penalty.
** Then there is Gaspard and Mendoza's trial, which the king starts by forbidding them to pretend that they're companions of his sister ; and then the spaniards just resume the petty fight that brought them on trial to begin with. Mendoza's a bit more childish than usual here.
---> '''Mendoza:''' You, with the subtlety of a brick and the loyalty of a barnacle!
* Gaspard, after nearly drowning into a river following Ophir closing up again, comes up to shore... smack in the middle of a crocodile float.
--> '''Gaspard:''' [[ThisIsGonnaSuck This is]] a [[UnderStatement bad day]].
