Funny moments in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword''.
----
* When Groose taunts Link about what happened to his Loftwing, you have the option to taunt him back by saying, "nice hair."
-->'''Groose:''' (''points to his hair in annoyance'') You lay off the do right now, or I'll flatten you. Everyone knows I've got the slickest pompadour in town.
** Some of Link's other responses in the various dialogue trees are amusing, too. You can play him as either really ditzy/forgetful or snarky depending on how you interpret responses in the vein of "Who are you?" when someone you've met before talks to you, such as Machi the Kikwi after you complete the first dungeon. One of the better ones is early in the game when, after your second encounter with Groose, Zelda encourages you for the upcoming Wing Ceremony and one of your responses is "Us? Alone? ''Together?''" and she gets this annoyed/flustered look on her face as she tells you to take this seriously.
* Gorko the Goron states that he has been researching an ancient civilization related to the bird statues, or, more specifically, the "Isle of the Goddess" (Skyloft). Ask him what he knows, and he'll go on that since it was created by the Goddess herself, it ''must'' be a paradise where everyone lives in harmony, the trees are full of fruit that can cure any disease, the fields are full of pumpkins that never rot, magical wildflowers bloom everywhere, and that the weather's always perfect. He says these things to Link who had just come from Skyloft. Better yet, he reacts with amazement once Link approaches the bird statue... which reacts the same way to Link as what any other bird statue would if he were to approach them.
* [[https://web.archive.org/web/20150219040417/https://occono.tumblr.com/post/15403276187 Link's face when obtaining a Rupoor]]. If you don't want to spoil it, try getting one from shooting the black crystals, or playing expert in the digging up Rupees game, or [[ViolationOfCommonSense dumping Mushroom Spores on a normal Rupee]].
** The accompanying description's pretty darn amusing too.
--->You picked up a Rupoor!
--->That means you've lost 10 rupees.
--->[[AndThatsTerrible And that's a little bit sad.]]
* Much like in ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker'', Link will be flung into the air and suffer a case of RumpRoast should he fall into lava. This wasn't too outlandish with Toon Link, but it's much funnier when the more realistic and serious adult Link has such a cartoonish reaction.
* When you don't want to listen to a Sheikah Stone's advice a second time, it says the following quote:
--> '''Stone:''' ''Rumor has it you're some kind of genius that remembers things perfectly the first time you hear them...''
** Speaking of Sheikah Stones, try setting off a bomb near one. It inexplicably flies into the air like a rocket and explodes, then a new one grows out of the ground in its place.
* The moment when Link learns the final part of the Song of The Hero. He's about to claim the harp and celebrate his victory when the music cuts off. Link's expression is totally worth it.
* The scene after completing the Lanayru Mining Facility. Impa is fending off Ghirahim, and Zelda sends over the Goddess' Harp to Link. [[MoodWhiplash Suddenly one hears the]] ItemGet theme as Link receives the Harp. Link's silly expression on his face probably helps as well.
** The dialogue box even reads when you receive it: [[LampshadeHanging "But there's no time to admire it!"]].[[note]] And the British English version says: "But now's not the time to give it a close examination!"[[/note]]
** Even earlier, when Zelda gives Link the sailcloth, she [[LampshadeHanging chastises him for doing the]] [[ItemGet Item Get pose]] [[LampshadeHanging in the middle of such a formal occasion.]]
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp8lKGeSQZQ&feature Groose skydiving towards Link at a very fast pace.]] Link's [[OhCrap facial expression]] says it all.
** Later, he suggests they name the surface world ''[[{{Egopolis}} Grooseland]]''. [[LettingTheAirOutOfTheBand Even the music]] [[https://youtu.be/cu-vQwYkYZ4?t=160 thinks it's stupid.]]
*** ''Legend of'' ''Groose''. Even he admits it was a joke.
*** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZGm1_b8oY0 The scene is even funnier when accompanied by a particular meme]].
** Groose's reaction to the Surface, especially the 'tiny birds' which are later in the cutscene seen landing on him, with one even on his hair.
*** In the Italian translation, he addresses them as 'lilliputian Loftwings'.
** Gorko happens to walk by with a map in his hands while Groose is freaking out. To which Groose reacts, in oversized text, "AND WHAT IS THAT THING?!" [[UnusuallyUninterestingSight Gorko doesn't even react]].
* Try and walk out of Beedle's shop without buying anything after looking at his wares. [[SchmuckBait Go ahead, try.]] He opens a trap door beneath you, causing you to fall face-first to the ground.
** Made even funnier if you talked to him beforehand.
** Strangely, if you sleep in his bed, he won't dump you on the ground for not buying anything. Also, he talks very... differently at night.
* A pair of Mogmas plot to get into the Earth Temple like a Heist movie, but then they ditch that when they [[ForgotICouldFly remember that they could just dig underground to get to the temple]].
* Ghirahim's little "ThatMakesMeFeelAngry" tirade during your first meeting with him.
** Much of Ghirahim's dialogue in your meeting with him in the Fire Sanctuary is hilarious, just up until the part he puts on a KubrickStare and becomes NightmareFuel.
** "This news positively FILLS my heart with RAINBOWS!"
** [[MoodWhiplash Ghirahim's little victory dance]] just before he starts the ritual to sacrifice Zelda's soul. He's just so ''giddy''.
*** He's also humming his own theme song while dancing.
*** [[WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic "Does he have ATD: Attention-Teleportation Disorder?"]]
** If you don't fend off Ghirahim with your sword during the first and second fights, he attacks by ''pimp-slapping Link across the face''.
* How Zelda's Loftwing delivers her letter to Link: by spitting it at him!
** After waking him up by screeching at him and causing him to fall out of bed.
* And of course, the fact that KleptomaniacHero, among many, ''many'' other adventure-game tropes, are [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] throughout the course of the game.
* One of the Gratitude Crystal sidequests also counts. It's a MythologyGag centered around one of the weirdest [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment Big Lipped Alligator Moments]] from ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Majora's Mask]]''. To wit: you discover somebody in the Knight's Academy's bathroom in the middle of the night, crying out for paper ("any paper!"). When you find paper, she lets you into the bathroom... to reveal that it's a disembodied hand that appears from inside the toilet. The only thing that could make this better is the fact that the paper is actually a love letter. It's truly a thing of wonder.
** If you analyze the hand, Fi advises you to "Cease being scared and talk to her".
** The dialogue for obtaining said paper is amusing enough.
--->'''Cawlin:''' [[SeriousBusiness Your mission]] is to take this piece of '''paper''' to a certain person! It's a very important piece of '''paper'''! Make SURE you deliver it!
--->''(Link's gaze goes to the bathroom)''
--->'''Cawlin:''' Huh...? What's your problem? Why are you looking at the restroom? ... [[ParrotExposition What?]] There's someone in the restroom at night who wants... paper? YouFool How dare you? This is no ordinary piece of paper! It's a '''letter'''! (...) All right, fine! It's a love letter! And that is why you will not, under any circumstances, EVER allow it to be used as toilet paper! Do you hear me?!
* The Cursed Bokoblins. Some find them [[NightmareFuel scary]], others find them hilarious. Even if the first time you're faced with a [[NinjaZombiePirateRobot horde of undead, leopard-print underwear-wearing monsters]] doesn't phase you, there are other moments. They're like the [[ButtMonkey Butt-Monkeys]] of monsters.
** Most Bokoblins that can take more than one hit from your current sword will be thrown aside if you land three slashes in quick succession. Cursed Bokoblins don't, and if you alternate horizontal slashes they turn into purple pendulums.
** One example is the first time you're exiting the basement floor via rope. Out of ''nowhere'', the Cursed Bokoblins pop up and chase you up the rope, and if they catch you, you get to shake them off. It's hard to run away through the laughter.
** According to Fi, the whole reason they cling to life is the attachment to their odd underwear.
** Another moment from the Cistern basement is when you finally get the idol. A mob of Bokoblins springs from the ground and the statue above you begins to drop down from the ceiling/where it ''used to '''be''''' the ceiling. You could probably stay to fight them all off, but it's infinitely more satisfying to sprint out of the way and watch the cinematic of them being squashed. And just for those budding PETM members: it's alright. They're already dead.
** Bokoblins in general are [[ButtMonkey Butt-Monkeys]] in the Zelda series, but nowhere else is it more apparent than in this game.
** Knocking them off ledges and watching them roll down the hills in Eldin, shaking them off the tightrope, stealing their monster horns with the whip and watching them pitch a mini temper tantrum over it, and all other forms of [[TheJoysOfTorturingMooks tormenting them]] are sadistically funny.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGl1DEmF0bU Your first meeting with Batreaux.]] As you approach an abandoned house, you hear a scream from within. You charge in, and come across a massive winged demon standing over a little girl. The combat music starts, and you draw your sword. But as you attackā€¦
--->'''Batreaux:''' Stop! Please! I beg of you... don't hurt me! Oh goodness, I know how bad this must look to you right now, but I assure you I mean no harm! We were just playing the scream-as-loud-as-you-can game!
** Alternatively, you can pull out your bug net to catch him and he reacts as he would with a sword.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LgEA5KoB_U The cinematic]] after you insert the Stone of Trials. Link's blank expression practically screams [[FlatWhat "What."]]
** This is likely a CallBack ([[AnachronicOrder or Call Forward)]] to a similar scene in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker The Wind Waker]]'', where Link had a similar reaction to a very similar statue doing a very similar thing. Just that in ''Wind Waker'', Link went on to examine the statue closer in order to see if it's broken -- only to have it blow up in his face.
** Depending on your personal [[CharacterReactionIndex reaction trope]], you may end up yanking your hair and/or screaming in frustration, running off to tell someone about it only to [[ItWasHereISwear come back to find]] the Sky Keep exposed, or - just maybe - fall into StunnedSilence, and be ''just about'' to speak when the rocks start falling apart.
* For all her stoicism, Fi manages to get in a few funny moments.
** When inside the Goddess statue, she has some choice words about crucial parts of the prophecy being missing from the hand-me-down version relayed by Gaepora.
--->'''Fi:''' Ah, yes, the oral tradition. One of the least reliable methods of information retention and transmission.
** Your first encounter with a Kikwi comes while dowsing for Zelda's aura, which Fi comments as being given off by said Kikwi. Responding with "Zelda?" results in her giving an [[OverlyLongGag overly long analysis]] of the Kikwi, that confirms [[IfMyCalculationsAreCorrect with 95% accuracy]] that the Kikwi is, [[SarcasmMode upon closer inspection,]] definitely not Zelda. You know you've said something stupid when your ''sword'' [[DeadpanSnarker starts snarking at you.]]
*** Also humorous is the other response you can make to Fi's comment which is a confused "[[FlatWhat Really?]]".
** Likewise, after the two Mogmas mentioned earlier on the page mention how a girl fitting Zelda's description was taken into the Earth Temple, you can suggest to Fi that it was actually the [[ActionGirl very agile and capable Impa]] that they saw [[DamselInDistress being captured by monsters]]. By her calculations, the chances of that being true are 10%... [[WorseWithContext Rounded up.]]
** Fi very logistically describing the attack habits of yellow Chuchus.
--->'''Fi:''' If you make contact with this type of Chuchu when it is charged, it will give you a shock. Then it will attempt to feed on you. [[AndThatsTerrible This is not pleasant.]]
** Fi's [[AllLoveIsUnrequited complete and total indifference]] toward [[HopelessSuitor Scrapper]] is worth a chuckle, when you think about it. This isn't a case of her simply [[WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove not understanding what "love" is]], since she's able to extrapolate Link's feelings for Zelda and Cawlin's feelings for Karane as stemming from some deeper sense of affection. Either it's a case of selective obliviousness on her part, or she's aware that Scrapper is into her but just doesn't care in the slightest.
** If you repeatedly fail a Silent Realm trial, Fi will start to remark that the chances of Link ''not'' being the chosen hero are increasing.
** When Fi assesses a fairy, she'll admit that there's a 10% chance it's actually an unknown species of insect.
** If you ask Fi for rumors about Eldin Volcano, she'll occasionally describe how trying to traverse steep slopes will cause Link to slide down them on his backside. "Quite gracefully, I'm sure, Master."
** After defeating the Moldarach encountered on your search for the Sandship, Fi reports only a limited chance of success if you continue searching the construction bay for clues, and advises you to leave and report back to the skipper. If you continue sifting through the sand for a few minutes longer, she'll actually start to seem annoyed, informing you that chances of success have dropped to 0% and that you ought to leave in light of those "substantially unfavorable odds".
** After claiming the sea chart from Skipper's Retreat, resting on the nearby stool causes Fi to point out the sounds of a bug infestation on the house's upper level. What makes this funny is that it comes just after a seeming trigger of some CharacterDevelopment in Fi that inspires her to become closer to Link. As if to imply that informing him of a bug infestation is her first attempt at making small talk.
** Normally, after absorbing a Sacred Flame, Fi bounces off the walls a few times before coming to rest in front of Link. However, Nayru's Flame is situated on a ship's deck with no barriers in sight, so instead she rockets straight into the sky. An awestruck Link tries to spot her among the clouds... [[OhCrap only to realize his mistake]], diving out of the way as an enormous blue fireball almost slams back down on top of him. Fi then gives him a brief look before commencing with the sword enhancement, almost as though she didn't realize anything was wrong.
** During Link's performance of Din's Power at the Isle of Songs, the camera cuts to Fi as she dances along, showing that she's actually twirling in circles while upside-down.
** When preparing to transport Faron's water basin to Eldin Volcano, you can try and protest Fi enlisting Scrapper to do the job. Doing so causes her to chide Link about not being picky, lest he wish to carry the basin all the way to the volcano on his back.
*** Related to this, you can scan the water basin with Fi to have her note how heavy it would appear to be. She concludes that she doesn't think it would be possible for the basin to be carried by a human, [[SincerityMode then immediately clarifies that she doesn't mean that as a jab at Link.]]
** After collecting 80 Gratitude Crystals, Fi suggests that the rumors of a monster living in Skyloft may persist despite Batreaux having become a human... Because she thinks the townsfolk may still be terrified by his off-putting new face.
* Some monsters flee in terror at the sight of the Beetle.
** Which is actually [[ArtificialBrilliance smart of them]] on some level, such as with the boulder-tossing bokoblins on Eldin Volcano. It makes trying to get them to crush themselves with their own boulders a lot harder.
** Drop a wasp hive on a monster. Laugh as they run around in circles swatting uselessly at their heads to try and stop the stinging.
* Link's ItemGet text when he receives the Sailcloth from Zelda and her subsequent reaction to either the pose or his fine print.
--> "... it smells nice too."
* The very ShipTease-ish scene with Link and Zelda on the Goddess statue during the ceremony. After she's done with her part, Zelda tells Link there's one final step to it, shyly asks him if he knows what that is (Link's answers are... nervously ambiguous), and then leans in extremely close to the point where [[AlmostKiss she and Link's faces are mere inches apart]]... and then Zelda turns him around and pushes him off the statue.
** Also note that this is the ''second'' time she pushed Link off from a dangerous height. ''On the same day.'' Makes you wonder if this is a regular thing between the two of them.
** WordOfGod is that the developers originally planned to have Zelda push Link [[RuleOfThree three times]], but Miyamoto decided it was [[RunningGag a little excessive]].
* If you go into the Lumpy Pumpkin and break the chandelier for the Heart Piece nestled on it, the owner's reaction is priceless:
--> "'''''WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?'''''"
** It helps that before delivering this line, you're graced with a cutscene where the music goes dead silent and everyone in the tavern is shown jumping back and staring in shock, trying to process that you ''seriously'' just did that.
** Kina: "[[OnceDoneNeverForgotten Oh, look!]] [[DeadpanSnarker It's the brave knight who slayed the chandelier!]]"
** Even the official strategy guide gets in on this one. "[[SchmuckBait You know what you must do]]".
** Afterward, you have to work for the owner to pay off the damages, but you can be a stubborn asshat about it every step of the way; trying to leave without even talking, refusing to do any work whenever he or Kina give you a job, ''drinking'' the Pumpkin Soup you're supposed to be delivering, deliberately playing the harp badly... All just to piss him off further.
* Faron. From when Link first meets her wrapped up in her basin to her decision to FLOOD THE FOREST to get rid of the monsters.
** And that ended up introducing new monsters to the forest. [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Nice going, Faron.]]
*** ScrewTheRulesIHaveSupernaturalPowers
* If you get spotted in the stealth section of Eldin Volcano, a boulder will be launched on top of Link courtesy of some Bokoblins with a catapult, with the screen going black right before it hits him and a squishing noise.
* If your sense of humor is dark enough, the boss fight with Koloktos -- where you repeatedly chop its limbs off ''with its own sword'' and whale on its weak spot while it sits helplessly -- can be BloodyHilarious.
* When you first fix Scrapper, he acts like a complete jerk. Then Fi comes out and he starts flirting with her. She's rendered speechless.
-->'''Scrapper''': This individual may have restored me to operations, but I am not inclined to offer assistance. Serving children is very low in my task priority.
-->''[Fi appears and gives a status update]''
-->'''Scrapper''': Who are you!? ZRRPT-FOOSH! Your name is...Fi? Should I call you Mistress Fi? Are you looking for something, Mistress Fi? I...I understand! At your request, I will carry anything, regardless of weight or destination!
-->'''Fi''': [[ObliviousToLove .........Master...]] We now have the means to bring the propeller back to Skyloft.
** Scrapper then nicknames Link "Master Shortpants".
** Also, Scrapper initially refuses to help Link claiming that serving children is very low in his task priority. However, he's willing to drop everything and do anything in order to help Fi, [[ImmediateSelfContradiction who is designed to appear even younger than Link is.]]
* At one point in the game, you need to learn the lyrics to the song Zelda was singing on the day of the ceremony. Headmaster Gaebora knows it, but states he'll just speak the lyrics rather than try to sing them. You can insist that he sing it, much to his sheepishness.
* "This is Peatrice, a sweet girl whose occupation of storing items provides little intellectual stimulation. You can store items with her at the bazaar. [[MySensorsIndicateYouWantToTapThat Master, your interest in this young woman is clear. I can see your aura shining brightly with joy in her presence.]] ...I strongly recommend that you do not mention this when you next encounter Zelda."
* The reaction the Stalfos have to getting caught in a bomb explosion. Their arms come off and they jerkily look left and right, as if they're incredulous about the whole situation.
* If you throw a bomb at a Bokoblin, [[ArtificialBrilliance it'll run away]]. Do this with a Technoblin, and it may run [[ArtificialStupidity right out of the Timeshift zone and turn into a pile of bones]].
* If you re-visit the Sandship after completing it, you will find Technoblins locked up in the brig.
* The third story-mandated trip to Eldin Volcano has Link losing his items. In order, he recovers his Mogma Mitts, Gust Bellows, Clawshots, Slingshot, and Whip - none of which is particularly useful for combat. Then...
-->''You got your Bomb Bag back! [[ThrowDownTheBomblet Time to make something explode]]."
* Various surface-dwellers have amusing reactions to Link showing up not long after the Bokoblins do.
-->'''Machi the Kikwi''': Now there's a green one! I didn't even know they came in green!
-->'''Kortz the Mogma''': You don't look like one of them, that's for sure. You're not THAT ugly.
-->'''Merco the Mogma''': I swear this neighborhood's getting crummier every day.
-->'''Ancient Robot''': You are not in my memory banks, bzzt.
-->'''[[NoNameGiven Another Ancient Robot]]''': You look suspicious, zzrt.
-->'''Jellyf the Parella''': I just need to avoid eye contact and he won't notice me...
* Groose's opinion on life in Skyloft versus life in the Sealed Grounds.
-->'''Groose:''' Living up in the sky way OK, but don't you just love the way it smells down here? What? That's not a weird thing to say!
* The Guays will sometimes poop on your shoulder. Link makes a horrified/disgusted face as he runs around with an adorable stylized poo on him.
** Scanning them with Fi has her state that getting pooped on has a 100% chance of aggravation. This is one of only three situations where she uses an absolute.
** There's also something funny about how the poo ''drains your stamina gauge'' if left unchecked.
* In your efforts to [[TimeyWimeyBall revive/save]] the dragon Lanayru, you need fruit from a tree. Once you have the seedling, you take it through the Gate of Time and plant it in an alcove in the Sealed Temple of the past. When Link comes back out of the Gate, he turns to the alcove and double-takes at the ''massive frickin' tree'' that is suddenly there.
* This line by Ghirahim when Groose tries to block him.
-->'''Ghirahim:''' Stand down. You're in my way, [[TakeThat and the sight of your appalling hair makes my gorge rise]].
* While battling Demise, Link can whip out his bug-catching net. Demise will actually [[MythologyGag pause to stare at it.]]
* After the Bokoblins have relocated from Eldin Volcano, you can visit one of the huts they leave behind and sit on a stool to take a rest. Doing so causes a Mogma to emerge from the ground, exclaiming "Welcome to my place!" He goes on to explain that he ''knows'' it's not his house - the Mogmas all live in underground burrows - and that he just wanted to know what it felt like to say "Welcome to my place!"
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoMxru4J7f8 This fan video]] that adds lyrics to Groose's theme.
