* In the second battle of the novel, Sandokan and two prahos worth of pirates are fighting a British cruiser and, knowing they're hopelessly outgunned, they're paddling to reach and board the enemy ship. They're almost there... Cue the ''steam'' warship [[CombatPragmatist move away to avoid boarding]], with the pirates screaming obscenities and insults at the British ship.
** Later, after one of the prahos has been sunk and the survivors of both crews are on the remaining one, they manage to board the ship... And the now vastly larger marine complement of the cruiser makes a bayonet charge and [[CurbStompBattle wipes them out]], with Sandokan and another pirate being the only ones who [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere realize they're screwed in time to jump in the water and escape]].
* During the tiger hunt he finds that Marianna has shot at the tiger, and asks her why she put herself at such risk. [[BrutalHonesty She politely tells him it's to stop him from getting in a knife fight with a tiger]].
* Sandokan and Yanez have infiltrated lord Guillonk's villa, and are hidden inside a large furnace in a greenhouse. A British patrol passes there, and [[TemptingFate Yanez is cackling because nobody would suspect them to be hidden there]]... Cue the soldiers wondering if the furnace is large enough to house two people, decide it's not, [[ProperlyParanoid and then check anyway just to be on the safe side]], causing a massive OhCrap for Yanez (they got away because it was too dark for them to be seen).
* Yanez telling Sandokan to stop being an idiot and just cripple the pursuing British gunboat for a whole night rather than wait for daylight and show off Marianna first.
** Sandokan actually pulling it off.
* The British lieutenant's stoic reaction when he found out his prisoner Sandokan had easily broken his chains.
** Gets a CallBack in ''The Pirates of Malaysia'': Sandokan, captured, is put into chains by the crew of a British prison ship... And he easily break them. Repeatedly. With Yanez and the other pirates [[SeenItAll looking bored]] while [[OhCrap the crew was getting increasingly scared]] and the other prisoners were awed.

* After rescuing Ada from the Thugs' attempt at burning her alive, Tremal Naik picks her up and starts running with her in the tunnels of their ElaborateUndergroundBase... [[SlapStick Until a tunnel ends suddenly and he slams face-first on the wall. Then, after Kammamuri arrives and narrowly avoids the same fate, he starts running again, and]] ''[[SlapStick slams his face on the wall again]]''. [[EpicFail That's when Tremal Naik realizes they've got lost]].

* After being dosed with the [[TruthSerum youma drink]], Yanez is interrogated on the Tigers' plan by Brooke and lord Guillonk, and starts repeatedly insulting the White Rajah. Cue Guillonk's outrage-and Brooke, who is familiar with the effects of the youma (it makes the drinker ''too high to care''), calmly telling him to let it go and let him continue the interrogation.
** It's implied that Brooke doesn't care he's being insulted because it happens ''every single time he interrogates someone with the youma''.

* Sandokan's birthplace, and his father's realm, is set on a lake in the area of [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Kinabalu Mount Kinabalu]], a region that at the time was not fully explored. When UsefulNotes/TheBritishEmpire fully explored the region it was discovered there was no lake... And then they ''dug it and built the capital of Northern Borneo there''. [[{{Irony}} The guys who in the novels dispossessed Sandokan in real life build up his birthplace]].
