Because even in a world torn by conflict between two {{Sentient Cosmic Force}}s, there's still time for a laugh or two.

* The true name of the Invoker, a mage who has lived centuries and has mastered the use of powerful invocations: [[SpecialPersonNormalName Carl]].
* Anytime UnwantedAssistance happens. Especially with any heroes that have re-positioning skills like Pudge.
** One such hero, Puck, can get itself killed ''twice in quick succession'' by using Illusory Orb at wrong moment.
*** So can Weaver and Ember Spirit. ''Especially'' Weaver.
* The game's official patch notes can be a source of this, usually based on how they would describe ridiculous changes with formal seriousness. Here's some highlights from the changelogs:
--> Bots that have been hit by multiple stacks of Sticky Napalm will now contemplate their misfortune further back in the lane.
--> Made Crystal Maiden bot even more timid.
--> Fixed Kunkka being a dirty cheater when using Torrent (the Kunkka bot could still aim and hit you with a torrent even when he couldn't see you due to invisibility).
--> Bots will no longer stare at a dropped gem, futilely trying to destroy it.
** On 6.82 changelogs, Dark Seer's Vacuum cooldown rescaled from 28 seconds to 28.0 seconds. Funny enough? Not yet! Drag your cursor on the "28.0 seconds" and you can see a Vacuum animation...
** Quoth the December 17th, 2014 changelogs: "Fixed Diabolic Edict having too few explosions." Quoth the December 19th, 2014 changelogs: "Fixed Diabolic Edict having too few explosions (again)."
** 6.86 changelogs to Iron Branch: "Use this item to plant a Happy Little Tree." Best. Patch. Ever.
*** Then in The International 2017, getting the Compendium will shape the Ironwood Branch trees into the term "GG" (as in "good game", used both offensively and sarcastically). But mostly to annoy everyone in the match.
*** And then 7.23 rolled around and introduced the Ironwood Tree, allowing you to plant an infinite supply of GG trees as long as you're lucky enough to get the item off a neutral creep.
** Someone made a [[https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/4fw6gm/how_687_would_look_like_if_icefrog_was_a_markov/ fake 6.87 changelog]] by feeding several previous changelogs into a Markov chain text generator, the output of which was complete nonsense (and a comedic ''goldmine''). One particular gem, however, [[AscendedMeme made it into the actual 6.87 changelog]]: "Increased Illusory Orb speed by 1".
** [[http://www.dota2.com/706 7.06's changelog]] has "Now requires a Mango instead of a 150 recipe" listed as the change for Soul Ring. One can just get a mental image of the Soul Ring outright devouring the mango.
** 7.07's changelog contains some funny entries, but the winner is Techies' WTF level 25 talents: ''+251 damage'' OR ''+25 Mines movement speed.''
*** On another note, Techies' damage talent was originally only +250 Damage, but because Tidehunter received the talent for his level 25 in the same patch, Techies was bumped to be +251 instead.
** Version 7.35 claimed to have fixed a "longstanding and game-breaking bug" where [[FelonyMisdemeanor melee heroes' innate damage block had a 49% proc chance instead of the intended 50%.]]
* Lifestealer can use his ultimate [[ChestBurster Infest]] [[MindScrew on his own illusion]].
** For extra funny, Pudge can swallow allies with Dismember if he has Aghanim's Shard, [[MatryoshkaObject which means he can swallow someone with a Lifestealer inside]] and both of them can jump out to dogpile someone that he hooks.
* Rubick spellsteals WALRUS Punch, pretty normal. Rubick uses WALRUS Punch by firing a projectile that's essentially ''[[GrievousHarmWithABody himself]]'' to uppercut the enemy? Hilarious. Sadly, this was patched out by making Walrus Punch an autocast attack modifier, meaning Rubick can no longer steal it.
** When Tusk uses Walrus Punch normally, the text "WALRUS PUNCH" appears in red letters above the unfortunate target. What happens when Rubick uses it? "STOLEN PUNCH" (or, if you hit Tusk himself, "SUCKER PUNCH").
** Most Rubick's Spellsteal animations are pretty funny. For example, stolen Sniper's Assassination made him shoot a bullet with his staff, stolen Batrider's Firefly made him ride his staff a la a witch's broom, stolen Laguna Blade/Finger of Death made him shoot a huge ass lightning with his finger...
* This loses something in writing, but Bane has arguably [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meH9uKpQfzM the best response to buying Blink Dagger]] in the game.
--> "Blink Dagger-AAAAAAAUUUGGGHHAAAAAHH"
* One of the changes to Bloodseeker's Thirst ability in the 6.79 patch was allowing him to go over the speed cap when active. This had [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCq-k3BBn68 predictable results.]]
* Wraith King's new lines. Some of them are outright references to [[AscendedMeme CASPLOCK LEORIC]]. Best one has got to be when he buys the Armlet of Mordiggian: '''"I NOW HAVE ALL THE SEXY."'''
** Getting a Refresher Orb and a Divine Rapier on Wraith King is, if nothing else, worth it just for this line:
--> "Oh, Rapier. '''NOW YOUR KING IS BALLING OUT OF CONTROL!'''"
* Windranger's lines for dying, killing someone, and others are chuckle worthy:
--> '''Upon dying:''' Why do you hate gingers so?
--> '''Killing someone:''' Pain, meet Ugly. Ugly, Pain.
--> '''Casting Shackleshot:''' I now pronounce you man and tree/creep.
* Sven [[LampshadeHanging Lampshading]] the fact that he's using Daedalus, a ''crossbow'', to increase his damage.
--> '''Sven''' "Daedalus! This is going to be absurd."
* Phoenix's spell descriptions are normal, the sub-spells though? They sound like as if Phoenix itself is saying them.
-->'''Stop Iccarus Dive''' "SCREE!"
-->'''Launch Fire Spirits''' "PKAWW! BOOM!"
-->'''Toggle Movement''' "SQUAWK!"
-->'''Stop Sun Ray''' "CHIRP!"
* Some [[WhatTheHellPlayer heroes have voice responses]] for when you [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment buy items or use runes they don't need]]:
--> '''Anti-Mage:''' Blink Dagger? Really?
--> '''Faceless Void:''' Blink Dagger, what need have I for this?[[note]]Made especially HilariousInHindsight by the 6.86 patch, which reworked ''Time Walk'' and gave it a shorter range; more often than not, Faceless Void players will pick up a Blink Dagger to make up for this.[[/note]]
--> '''Viper:''' Orb of Venom. I need this why?
--> '''Nyx Assassin:''' Blade Mail?
--> '''Nyx Assassin when using an Invisibility rune:''' They have runes for this?
--> '''Dark Seer when using Haste rune''': What surge is this?
--> '''Riki when using an Invisibility rune:''' This is redundant.[[note]]Only said if he already levelled Cloak and Dagger[[/note]]
--> '''Queen of Pain:''' Blink dagger? That was quite unnecessary.
--> '''Troll Warlord:''' Mask of Madness!? '''SERIOUSLY?!?'''
--> '''Phantom Lancer when using an Illusion rune:''' Now this is just silly.
--> '''Phantom Lancer when using an Illusion rune (again):''' Because at this point, why not?
--> '''Invoker when using an invisibility rune:''' I have orbs for this.
--> '''Wraith King picking up the Aegis of Immortality:''' As if I needed any more of this. But I'll take it.
--> '''Lifestealer:''' ((Vladimir's Offering) You had to buy lifesteal?
--> '''Slardar:''' (Skull Basher) This would seem redundant.
--> '''Monkey King:''' Hurricane Pike. Where am I going with this?
--> '''Bloodseeker (buying Bloodstone):''' I'm only buying this because it has "blood" in it. \\
'''Pangolier:''' Hurricane Pike, for... some reason...\\
'''Muerta (buying Butterfly):''' I just liked how it looks.
* Warlock when his Golem gets hit by [[OneHitKill Diffusal Blade]]:
--> '''Warlock:''' [[YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe Really? You just did that?]]
* Monkey King buying his own weapon (Monkey King Bar) sometimes makes him complain:
--> '''Monkey King''': I have to pay for this!?
* Dota 2 has a customizable chat wheel that you can use to send commonly used messages into chat on the fly (">We need wards.", ">Missing middle!" etc.). You can pick and add phrases to the wheel from a large, preset pool. One such phrase is [[DidntThinkThisThrough "> I immediately]] [[OhCrap regret my decision".]]
** In general, while chat phrases may be annoying at times, at others they can end up lightening the sour mood of your teammates, and enhance funny moments.
** Valve add Dota 2 community's meme phrases to chat wheel. For example:
--> "Nothing of value was lost that day."
--> "[[WorthIt Space created.]]"\\
"[[DidntSeeThatComing That just happened.]]"
--> "New meta."
--> "[[ThisIsGonnaSuck Game was hard.]]"
--> "[[SurroundedByIdiots Can anyone upgrade the courier?]]"
** Valve later expanded upon these with voice lines from casters for the annual International Battle Pass along with character-exclusive voice lines for Dota Plus.
* Any time Techies is present in a game. It's rather funny to see some heroes stepping into the mines at the start of the game. Even funnier if you placed the said mines in [[HiddenInPlainSight a very obvious place.]] Although, it may not be that funny if you were the butt of the joke.
** Goblin Techies, being the [[SquishyWizard soft and slow hero]] that he is, will be picked on pretty bad, at least when it's the first time fighting against them. Then the opponents realize that he is [[ActionBomb an Action Bomb.]] Much rage (and humor) will ensue when the attacker(s) gets killed in the explosion, especially when Techies' health is very low.
* In the New Bloom 2015 comic that features the Winter Wyvern's debut, apparently Crystal Maiden has a 'To Do List', which is filled with various 'helping people in Icewrack' tasks, followed by 'Fight the Battle of the Ancients' and ended with... 'Send a death threat to Lina.'
** There's also the cheerful way she says "Let's go look at some dead animals!" It's oddly reminiscent of the ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'' video "Expiration Date", where Medic says "Tumors!" in an incredibly upbeat voice (unsurprisingly, Jay Pinkerton, one of the ''Team Fortress'' comic writers, worked on this one as well).
** According to Heather "Makani" Campbell, the comic's artist, the original storyboard for the comic had the wizard [[http://makanidotdot.tumblr.com/post/110920542091/i-love-this-blog-i-love-it-love-the-dota-2-comic literally telling Rylai to fuck off]].
* [[http://blog.dota2.com/2015/03/compendium-stretch-goal-facelift-void/ The entirety of this blog post]] which talks about Faceless Void's remodel.
** And the Faceless Rex courier, inspired from that blog post... which became a VERY RARE courier that boost TI 2015 Compendium sales. Well played, Valve.
* The FlavorText for Platemail:
--> Thick metal plates that protect the entire upper body. Avoid dropping on feet.
* Anytime you [[EpicFail whiffed]] a game-breaking ultimate either by not catching everyone or fail to accomplish anything, the hero will often lampshade this fact and either get embarrassed or frustrated that they couldn't even score a kill. Such as:
-->'''Alchemist''' (Unstable Concoction explodes on the hero): Didn't you hear me telling you to throw it?
-->'''Axe''' (Culling Blade doesn't kill enemy hero): Axe misjudged?
-->'''Earthshaker''' (Hitting no heroes with Echo Slam): Echo Slam…?
-->'''Faceless Void''' (Catching nobody in the Chronosphere): An eternity of embarrassment!
-->'''Juggernaut''' (Failing to kill anyone with Omnislash): Argh, I had such plans...
-->'''Kunkka''' (Not hitting anyone with Ghost Ship): Now that was a fail-boat!
-->'''Legion Commander''' (Duel does not end in death): We weren't finished!
-->'''Lich''' (Chain Frost doesn't kill anyone): Not my best work.
-->'''Oracle''' (Dying after False Promise Ends): That went well! For our enemies.
-->'''Sniper''' (Assasinate doesn't kill anyone): Oh, I thought I had that for sure!
* Although the comic featuring Enigma's new Immortal item is otherwise cover-to-cover NightmareFuel, at one point Enigma muses about whether the alchemist that summoned him desires power and women... [[TheComicallySerious which gives him a mental image of the guy in a crown, sitting in a throne, surrounded by scantily clad women]]. It really must be seen.
* [[http://www.dota2.com/thelastcastle The Last Castle]] comic is just ''filled'' with funny moments, thanks to being written by the same writers of the ''VideoGame/TeamFortress2'' comics. Most of it stems from Axe's interactions with his bard, but a lot of the things Axe says in general are pretty funny too.
** The accompanying blog post is sure to get a good chuckle or two as well.
--> "He’s big. He’s red. He’s got an Axe. Also his name’s Axe. His hobbies? Most of them involve axes and the act of axing things with an axe. Plus he’s now in his very own sixty-page comic. Is an axe involved somehow? Will Axe use it? Is Luke Skywalker a villain now? Is that why he’s not in the trailers? Get the answers to all but those last two questions in The Last Castle Axe Comic."
* When Omniknight uses Purification, he might say [[http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/dota2.gamepedia.com/f/f3/Omni_ability_purif_03.mp3 "Patch up!"]] But with how he said it, it's just as easy to mishear him as saying or ordering some "Ketchup!" As exemplified [[https://youtu.be/yQ1ibGN0IZg?t=4s here]].
* While the game doesn't have as many funny StopPokingMe quotes as the game it came from, some heroes still have their moments:
--> '''Sven''': "It's Rogue Knight, not Rouge Knight, dammit!"
--> '''Venomancer''': "Yes, ah ha ha ha ha ha... *[[UnEvilLaugh cough]]*"
--> '''Juggernaut''': "Screw it, I'm going to ''five'' blades!"
--> '''Mirana''': "Here, kitty-kitty-kitty..."
--> '''Techies''': "[[SelfDeprecation Who said we couldn't count to three, huh?]]"
--> '''Vengeful Spirit''': "[[GallowsHumor Hmm... These wings could use a trim.]]"
--> '''Beastmaster''': "It's not the size of the beast in the fight, but... Well, actually, size kind of helps."
--> '''Sniper''': "Killing is the last resort, true. But the other resorts don't even have a pool."
** Also for Techies, which refer to their humorous backstory and how they can't remember that one of their allies is right behind them.
--> '''Squee''': Spoon was in the workshop when it exploded, right?
--> '''Spleen''': I think so...
--> '''Spoon''': (Right in the barrel) No. I wasn't.
--> '''Spleen''': You know, sometimes I can still hear his voice...
* [[http://dota2.gamepedia.com/Bristleback_Announcer_Pack Bristleback's announcer pack]] has a few choice lines, especially when you're picking certain heroes:
--> (picking Invoker) "''Invoker?'' [[SomeDexterityRequired Are you sure about that?]]"
--> (picking Sniper) "Who brings a gun to a sword fight? I mean, that-that's a bit like cheating. I approve!"
--> (picking anyone but Bristleback) "Oh, mate, you've just made a grave error. A grave error not picking me! Yeah mate, you're having a laugh. A giraffe. [[OverlyLongGag A bubble bath. A wizard's... staff!]]"
* Earthshaker's reworked Aghanim's Scepter upgrade allows him to [[InASingleBound jump to a targeted spot]] with ''Enchant Totem''. And it's gut-bustingly ''hilarious'' to watch for the sheer WTF factor. The jump also makes for a reasonably effective escape mechanism, meaning that you can have this bulky bull-man with a giant totem on his shoulders ''hopping away to safety'', which is just as absurd as it sounds.
** Not to be outdone, Sven's new Scepter upgrade in 7.23 has him channel Franchise/{{Superman}} and ''throw himself at the enemy fist-first'' when casting ''Storm Hammer''. Sure, Scepter isn't the first thing you'd think of grabbing when playing a carry, but it's worth picking up just for the animation alone.
** Enchantress's reworked Scepter upgrade in 7.23 gives her the ability to jump backwards and evade attacks. Said ability is lovingly named ''[[InherentlyFunnyWords Sproink]]''.
* 6.87's update splash artwork depicts Batrider watching Rubick fly past him on his staff using ''Firefly'' (three guesses what happened beforehand) with a [[JawDrop hilariously bemused expression]]. Especially since [[ManOnFire Rubick's cape appears to be on fire]].
* When the 2016 Compendium was announced, it was shown that it would give those who buy it a Trust of the Benefactor treasure chest, which has a chance of dropping some of the rarest items in Dota 2, including a mystery prize which was the source of much speculation among players. Come the release of the chest, and what does the secret item turn out to be? [[spoiler:A sparkly golden version of BZZ's [[MemeticMutation infamous]] "Nether Lord's Regalia" set for Pugna.]] '''''Wow.'''''
* The introduction of Aghanim's Shard in 7.28 gave Dark Seer the unlockable ability [[Webcomic/OnePunchMan Normal Punch]]. Said ability periodically causes his next attack to ''punch an illusion right out of the target'', complete with an overblown animation accompanied by a manga-esque Japanese WrittenSoundEffect.
* 7.32 reworked Centaur Warrunner's Aghanim's Scepter upgrade to now grant him the new ability Hitch a Ride, which has him pulling an allied hero around on a cart. The contrast of this big, burly, ProudWarriorRaceGuy horse-man [[FurryReminder doing something you'd see from a regular horse]] makes it particularly amusing.
* After a rework in 7.33, Medusa is now the only hero in the game that starts with 0 strength and 0 strength growth meaning without any sort of stat items she's always at 120 hit points. If there's an Axe in her game that gets any sort of early level advantage against her, expect to see the Axe always beeline for the Medusa and instantly kill her from full HP with [[OneHitKill Culling Blade]] because she'll ''always'' be in the kill threshold until she gets items.
* In the same patch, Ogre Magi was reworked [[DumbMuscle to always have 0 Intelligence]] (instead having his mana determined by Strength) and was changed to have Strength as his primary attribute, because to quote the patch notes, [[GameplayAndStorySegregation he's too dumb to be an Intelligence hero]]. It's also worth noting that Ogre Magi is considered smart for an ogre due to having [[MultipleHeadCase double the brainpower]]... and yet, he's still too dumb to even be compared to other heroes.
* 7.33 reworked Meepo's upgrade from Aghanim's Scepter. Instead of an extra clone, it gives him the new ability Megameepo, which combines Meepo and his nearby clones into a single hero with increased stats by [[HumanLadder having the clones stack themselves on the main Meepo's shoulders]]. It looks every bit as ridiculous as it sounds.
* Reflecting Tiny's Toss with a Lotus Orb. The tossed unit sails through the air, lands on the target, and then ''bounces off and flies back to Tiny''.
* Primal Beast's ultimate ability Pulverize has him simply [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown picking up an enemy and smashing them into the ground repeatedly, leaving a crater]]. Also very [[CatharsisFactor cathartic]] when you land it on that one enemy hero that's been a thorn in your team's side.
* For [[YouMeanXmas Frostivus 2023]], Valve gave out a free gift to every player. If you've been nice, you get some free cosmetics. And if you're naughty (as in, a smurf, account buyer, or booster)... you get [[UndesirablePrize a Toxic Lump of Coal]]. And for severe offenders, a ''Highly'' Toxic Lump of Coal, which perma-bans your account [[TakeThat in the most insulting way possible]] while [[AndThereWasMuchRejoicing everyone else cheers on]]. The Highly Toxic Lump of Coal also comes bundled with various [[EmoteCommand taunts]] that, given the situation, seem to be taunting the banned player.

*** Special mention must be given to the NP in episode 89 who somehow ''[[EpicFail teleported to]] [[InstantDeathRadius the wrong fountain.]]''
** Episode 58 features a Magnus Skewering the enemy team's Earthshaker [[LethallyStupid right into the middle of his own team]], which gets everyone [[CurbstompBattle annihilated by Echo Slam.]] Sunsfan and Reaves's commentary make it even better.
--->'''Sunsfan''': He doesn't have a Blink yet, he doesn't know what to do... But if the other team ''initiates for you- '''BOOOOOOOOMMM! OOOOOOHHHH!'''''\\
'''Reaves''': It's kind of beautiful, all of them are like "[[UnwantedAssistance Magnus no!]]"
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dp9_FV2SHv4 Episode 94]] features a Magnus who wastes a Reverse Polarity AND a Refresher Orb in an attempt to kill Zeus but didn't succeed, [[SoreLoser which resulted in a very angry Magnus]].
** The ending of [[https://youtu.be/8w2wRNCYEK4?t=14m11s Episode 100.]] Saying anything else would ruin it.
** Episode 113 featured a Doom failing his ultimate. But the funny thing is he immediate devours it to hide his shame and didn't even try to hide it, saying [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial "No one saw it!"]]
** Episode 126 includes Techies' Statis Ward stunning Huskar, Abaddon, and Witch Doctor and then Magnus uses Reverse Polarity... and misses. Then gets hooked by Pudge. Another is Clockwerk getting an illusion rune and stepping on Techies' mines and dying immediately after, then both Lina and Lion uses their ultimates on them, even though Clockwerk is already dead. And then in another clip, [[RuleOfThree Techies]] use his remote mines to kill the Radiant team while they are at Roshan and Phantom Assassin, either out of panic or idiocy, denies the Aegis, then dies to the last remote bomb, giving Techies [[TotalPartyKill a rampage]], and finally a Rubick charging and dying during the charge and not stopping until he reaches his target, which is so absurd.
** In Episode 127, the Aggressive Carry of the Week and the Cowardly Carry of the Week, including a close-up.

** Episode 147 has a Legion Commander casting ''Duel'' on a Puck illusion created by Morphling and promptly getting annihilated. Puck and Legion Commander are ''[[FailedASpotCheck on the same team]].''
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cb8VI_UFQk Episode 156]] features Enigma, Legion Commander, Lion, and Phoenix all using their ultimates on ''[[NoKillLikeOverkill one person (Slark)]]''... Only for Phoenix's Supernova to aggravate a nearby satyr camp, [[ShaggyDogStory at which point the Satyr Tormenter steals the kill with Shockwave]].
** Episode 211's main feature is an Invoker who gets tagged by Silencer's Arcane Curse and manages to keep it on himself for nearly ''[[OverlyLongGag seven and a half minutes]]''. For reference, Arcane Curse's base duration is 6 seconds, increasing by 5 for each spell the victim casts, and the buff indicator was barely counting down at all by the time he finally keeled over. [[TooDumbToLive This is despite getting a Black King Bar around 2 minutes into the Curse and apparently forgetting about it.]]
** Starting with Episode 226, some of the replays at the end of the clips are instead SFM animation provided by Neil, which are hilarious because of how [[MindScrew bizarre they are]].
** The commentary is occasionally funnier than the clips themselves:

[[folder:Competitive Scene]]
* In the 2013 wild card game (the winner of which would go on to play in TI3) between Rattlesnake and Quantic, there was a moment where Sven (played by Quantic's Sockshka) ambushed Chaos Knight, Gyrocopter and Beastmaster and attempted to stun them all with storm hammer so that his teammates could catch up to them and possibly kill them with few losses. In a very unfortunate case of a misclick, Sochshka cast storm hammer not on Chaos Knight, not on Gyrocopter, not even on Beastmaster, but on... Beastmaster's ''Boar'', [[EpicFail stunning absolutely nobody but the boar]]. This ended up getting Quantic team wiped with the exception of one. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kadJE1J1KtM This moment can be seen in its full glory in this video]].
* Another example sort of from [=TI3=]: On the first day of the competition, an "All-Star Match" was held between two teams voted on by the players. Given that there was nothing at stake, the players took it upon themselves to goof off in the most spectacular way they could. Highlights include the members of Alliance (Loda and Akke) and Na'Vi (Dendi and Puppey) trash-talking their teammates, who were on the opposite team for this match, a completely ridiculous draft, which was made by having the team's "Captains" ''picking the other team's picks'' using heroes that are almost never used in professional games, such as Sniper, Omniknight, [[TestosteronePoisoning Skeleton King and Axe]] (the Dire side actually had an all-melee team), and Dendi celebrating killing Puppey (his captain) by [[https://secure.flickr.com/photos/dota2ti/9464543650/ getting out of the booth and dancing in front of Puppey]]. You can watch it [[http://www.twitch.tv/dota2ti/b/442230134 here]], starting at 11.02.30.
* From [=TI5=] we have the "All-Star Match" with Team N0tail and Team Chuan playing a game of Dota 2, with the twist that it's a 10 vs 10 match played on a special client. However, there's only five professional players on each team, so where do they get the 10 missing players? Simple enough, they recruit them ''from the audience'', with the captains selecting random players they see (For example, danish player N0tail picked a guy because he had a danish flag. Another guy was picked because he had a sign with the infamous [[Website/{{Twitch}} Kappa emoticon]]) including a guy in a Pudge costume. The random players are briefly interviewed one by one (one of which has the name ''420 booty wizard'') and ending with the player in the Pudge costume. His true identity? '''[[UsefulNotes/ProfessionalGaming DENDI]]'''. Once that was all over, the 20 players picked their heroes and played the most chaotic match to ever be shown in competitive gaming.
** Unlike the All-Star Match from previous Internationals, this time there's a prize: a large piece of [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial delicious, not-at-all-past-the-expiration-date cheese.]]
* A competitive match between SFZ and [=Cloud9=] lasted '''over three hours'''[[note]]To be exact, it clocked in at 3:20:34[[/note]], making it the longest competitive match in the game's history. Gets especially funny really late when graphical glitches start coming out and the commentators start getting hilariously bored. [=ODpixel=] in particular puts on dramatic music whenever it looks like there might be a fight that tips the balance, only to cut it off when it doesn't. This happens no fewer than five times during the match.
** Not to be outdone, the [[https://www.dotabuff.com/matches/3100422365 longest unranked match]] lasted '''''over five hours!''''' Highlights include: the aggressive Legion Commander whose Duel ability gave the hero over 4000 damage, the Lion who claimed to had made 17 separate Steam accounts just to report the aforementioned Legion Commander for comm abuse, the supportive Oracle who bought over 400 sentry wards, multiple purchases of Divine Rapier which almost turned the battlefield into a FieldOfBlades, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and the frustrated Tinker who had to abandon the game because they apparently had to pick someone up at the airport.]] And to top it all off, the chat log implies that UsefulNotes/StockholmSyndrome had occured for at least one of the players.
--->'''Legion Commander''': I'm gonna add all you guys after this game\\
'''Legion Commander''': I have grown attached to you, strangely
* The LB Final of the Chinese Summit 6 qualifiers pits LGD against LGD.FY. It's cool and all, but the game was created with cheats enabled, making the game goes bananas. Literally. [[labelnote:Explanation]] If you enabled cheat on Practice Lobby, there is a chance that a Banana consumable item will be dropped if you destroys a tree. Eating a banana give you 4 INT and what's more after consuming one the banana peel is placed on the floor, and any enemy that goes 100 units near it will get stunned and "move around randomly for 1 second".[[/labelnote]]
** Highlight is the players' in-game chat, accusing each other of eating dropped bananas and dying because they slipped on banana peels.
--> LGDY.Super: "You ate a banana."
--> LGDY.Yao: "Don't eat bananasssss."
--> LGD.Maybe: "He slipped on the banana."
--> LGDY.Yao: "I slipped too, they're all over the floor."
--> LGDY.Yao: "Referee. This Morphling slipped on the banana and died."
--> LGDY.[=Xiao8=]: "Forget about the ones already eaten, just don't eat anymore! Start!"
--> LGD.Maybe: "Did you eat one secretly?"
--> LGDY.[=Xiao8=]: "Come on we're professionals! (jokingly)"
--> LGD.Maybe: "I won't eat anymore okay?"
--> LGDY.Super: "Wow, I'm such a hero, I'm king of the bananas."
* Pro player Jacky "[=EternaLEnVy=]" Mao, regardless of outcome on his ridiculous plays, will either make you look on in awe or hold your sides as you laugh at his fails. One of his biggest and most hilarious [[MemeticMutation 322-worthy]] plays was back in the Shanghai Major 2016, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teO1wYIy388 when Team Secret faced off against Evil Geniuses in Game 2.]] On his iconic Ember Spirit, he remnants away up to the cliff as all of EG chase him, unbeknownst of said position. Instead of teleporting back to base, or even waiting for the remnant cooldown to end, he blinks back down and Sleight of Fist-Chains two of EG, without any backup, and realizes he's all alone. He gets killed almost immediately for his mistake.
--> '''[=ODPixel=]''': They think he's gone! Oh and--[=EnVy=], [=EnVy=]! What?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
* The International 2017 opening ceremony. Here we have Kacy and Slacks went into the world of Dota 2 by malfunctioning VR gears. Kacy became Omniknight and Slacks became Crystal Maiden. After debating with the shopkeeper, they bought a courier to bring them back into the real world. Fade to black, Kacy and Slacks appear in front of the audience... bringing a ''real donkey outfitted as a courier''. Also, there is a random [[Creator/GabeNewell Gaben]] cameo...
* Moonduck's production quality over Midas Mode, to say the least is filled with all sorts of meme-fueled galore.
* During The International 8, Virtus Pro [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZrar-Xwlwg explain why their mascot is a bear]]: it's their coach, Boris. [[ParanoiaFuel He's always watching.]] But not everyone finds him disturbing: Noone throws Boris out of his chair while cussing him out, and [=RAMZES666=] appreciates his help in spamming the chat sound wheel after making a big play.
* In Valve's True Sight documentary on OG vs. Virtus.pro at the Kiev Major Grand Finals, at the start of the video, OG's Gustav "[=s4=]" Magnusson mentions that he's wired/mic'd up. Those were his only words for the entire video [[{{Irony}} (as it turned out that his mic had audio issues)]], except for this exchange:
--> '''Anathan "ana" Pham''': Gustav? Hi.
--> '''[=s4=]''': Hi.
* Really, all ten players in True Sight: The International 2018 Grand Finals are a joy to watch with their interactions:
** Just before the start of the draft for Game 1, PSG.LGD's coach QQQ instructs his team to mute OG in chat, knowing their infamy in spamming that year's International Battle Pass voice wheel to tilt their opponents. Somnus says he'll mute them once they're in game, which leads to this great point by Xu "Fy" Linsen:
--> '''Fy''': Block the user. ''[{{Beat}}]'' [[DoubleTake Wait, what happens if they call]] [[InstantWinCondition GG]] [[DoubleTake and we miss it?]]
--> '''QQQ''': Then you just wait for the throne to explode.
** This one too:
--> '''Somnus''': Holy crap, Ceb's holding a bunch of papers.
** Just before they come back onto the stage for Game 2, PSG.LGD having lost Game 1, Fy brings them back into it, saying that the team that won Game 1 lost the series. [[{{Irony}} He's against the team that won a full bo5 that won Game 1 too.]] [[HistoryRepeats Not to mention, both series are scarily similar to each other.]]
** Game 3, Somnus finally gets serious:
--> '''Somnus''': I'm getting into my death gaze mode.
--> '''QQQ''': You didn't do it last game?
--> '''Somnus''': [[{{Adorkable}} I... gazed a bit.]]
** Chalice also gets some humor in:
--> '''Yang "Chalice" Shenyi''': This ass is looking at his little notes again.
** In Game 4, having relocated himself and his carry teammate back to the fountain, OG's Jesse "[=JerAx=]" Vainikka asked ana if he wanted to relocate back to the base for memes. [[SkewedPriorities Down 2-1 in an eleven million dollar series on the line and you're thinking of throwing it away for memes.]]
--> '''[=JerAx=]''': Ana, you want to relocate back to the base? *smiles and chuckles* Memes?
--> '''ana''': [[PrecisionFStrike Fuck off.]] *chuckles*
** The BrickJoke to end all brick jokes in Dota 2 history in Game 4:
--> '''Chalice''', upon seeing the Axe pick: What's this hero?!
--> '''Somnus''': Let me think... Axe.
--> '''Fy''': [[BadassBoast Fucking hell, they dare to pick Axe in front of the Tusk king?]]
--> In the climactic moments of Game 4:
--> '''Fy''': [[OhCrap Where's Axe?]]
--> Axe blinks in with a three-man ''Berserker's Call''
--> '''[=ODPixel=]''': CEEEEEEEEEEBBBBB!!
** Ana's PL in Game 4 had been absolutely superb all throughout. What is his secret? [[labelnote:For context]] After Ceb's [[HeroicSacrifice epic play]] leading to three kills by ana, [=JerAx=] tells ana to let him know if he gets Ruptured for him to relocate him back to the base. Ana's answer below says it all. [[/labelnote]]
--> '''ana''': I mean, I don't know what the fuck's going on, I can't even see my own hero.
* [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRSQyrlrP7I The International 2019, Dust of Appearance: Vici Gaming.]] Three words: [[RefugeInAudacity The "Dead Yang" strat.]] To explain, Yang of VG had been "dead" since Game 5 of the Grand Finals of Dreamleague Season 11. The team decided not to tell their coach Bai "[=rOtk=]" Fan about it (hell, they'd even rather play with a dead Yang than have him come out of retirement!). [[note]] Except, of course, Yang wasn't dead. What sells it is that ''[=rOtk=] himself'' told Yang to play dead, as part of a team building exercise, whatever that means.[[/note]] It culminates in [[CrossesTheLineTwice the whole team throwing Yang off the second floor balcony of their training house to the first floor]] when instructed by [=rOtk=] to meet with him downstairs.
** Also, people couldn't tell whether [=rOtk=] was a good actor in this skit or was just simply being himself.
* In the [=TI9=] Upper Bracket Finals between PSG.LGD and OG, OG came out to the stage...with Notail ''carrying a stack of papers,'' a clear and hilarious CallBack to last year's True Sight episode. [[MemeticMutation Naturally, the community turned this into a meme.]]
* When asked about how unprepared their opponents were in facing the carry Io strat, OG's coach said that they themselves never prepared for using it either! They never scrimmed with it in their boot camp, and all of a sudden in their group stage match against [=NiP=], ana just suggested Io out of the blue, as he had been playing (and wrecking) pubs with it. The team gave it a shot, and the rest is history. Also counts as a CMOA.
* Once again, True Sight returned for The International 2019 Grand Finals, and brought more laughs from the ten players.
** As both teams prepared for the start of the Grand Finals in their respective booths, Ceb realized that his game did not load up his chat wheel. So he ''restarts'' it. The kicker was that this happened ''just before the game started.''
--> '''Ceb''': I'm not playing finals without my chat wheel, man.
** Maroun "Gh" Merhej wonders what hero he's going to play in Game 1. Amer "[=Miracle-=]" Al-Barqawi promptly shuts him down when he gives his suggestion.
--> '''Gh''': Do you wanna see my Sniper?
--> '''[=Miracle-=]''': [[NoJustNoReaction No, and I don't want to.]]
** As [=ODPixel=] praises Aliwi "[=w33ha=]" Omar's Meepo after successfully finding a hiding ana's Spectre and killing hin with his team, we get this gem from ana:
--> '''[=ODPixel=]''': This is why this man's Meepo is--
--> '''ana (by way of the chat wheel)''' and '''[=ODPixel=]''': Absolutely Perfect/...Terrifying.
** After OG lost Game 1 due to holding onto ana's buyback for too long, Ceb reassures the team and gets them back into it with this hilarious gem:
--> '''Ceb''': We have five games, we're allowed to throw one. It's part of the fun. Don't let it get to you.
** Between games 2 and 3:
--> '''[=KuroKy=]''': They're like monkeys, man. I don't mean it in a flame-y way. [[GilliganCut (Cue N0tail and Ceb walking to the arena pounding their chests... and then Charlie hands Notail a banana.]] [[HilariousInHindsight Also funny because OG's previous name was Team Monkey Business.)]]
** Before the draft for Game 3, [=JerAx=] said there's a new password. Notail thought ''there was a new patch.'' Ceb just runs with it.
--> '''Ceb, amused''': There's a patch!
--> '''Notail''': I was like wait, what?
--> '''Ceb''': Oh new patch, guys, new patch! They nerfed Ember!
--> Everyone on OG laughs, even [[TheStoic ana]]
** During Game 3, Ceb is confident that they broke Liquid. We then get this gem.
--> '''Ceb''': Guys, we broke their confidence. [[TemptingFate They don't do Tide and TA anymore.]]
--> ''[[InstantlyProvenWrong Liquid instantly picks Tide and later picks TA]]''
---> '''Cue all of OG chuckling with Notail teasing Ceb'''
** The aforementioned event above becomes a RunningGag to Ceb in Game 4
--> '''Jerax''': *Looks at the draft* I mean what fights into this
--> '''ana''': Gyro, Ember
--> '''Topson''': TA
--> '''Notail''': *chuckles*
** In Game 4, in OG's huge turnaround against Liquid, [=JerAx=]'s Tiny tosses [=Miracle-=]'s Bristleback into the ancient stacks. Notail takes note of this.
--> '''Notail''': *chuckles* Jesse you fucking--
--> '''[=JerAx=]''': [[CallBack I'm just memeing.]]
** When the members Liquid returned to their team room in the arena to rest, [=KuroKy=] ponders his next course of action. [=Miracle-=] and [=W33ha=] keep it simple. Gh also agrees shortly after, at which point everyone is back in good spirits thanks to that. Another funny thing about this exchange is that ''Gh'' of all people is the first to agree to it.
--> '''[=KuroKy=]''': What do we do now?
--> '''[=Miracle-=]''': I don't know, let's eat?
--> '''[=W33ha=], seconds later''': Afterparty, anyone?
--> '''Gh''': Yeah boy, let's get fucked up!
** Ceb and Notail's parting words, reflecting the fact that OG, who were kind of the wild cards once again at the start of TI, literally ''memed'' their way to a back-to-back TI title.
--> '''Ceb''': We couldn't make it to a fucking Major![[note]] They did, of course, but they never made it to top 4. [[/note]] We couldn't make it to a fucking Major!
--> '''Notail''': Did you know that the fluke is the most common fish in the sea?
---> Cue everyone in the van laughing
* Dota 2 is infamous for its comebacks, snatching victory away from the jaws of defeat. Sometimes, the losing team finds and wins that one critical team fight, letting them push the ancient unopposed. Other times however, the winning team just throws the game away. Case in point for the latter, Team Talon vs Liquid sees Talon pushing into Liquid's base full force. Talon manages to easily kill Nisha (Pangolier), Boxi (Rubick) and miCKe (Faceless Void). In a bit of [[DontCelebrateJustYet early celebration]], 23savage (Morphling) Presses glyph when there was no reason to, and [[https://youtu.be/x9F5Hyh8JBM?t=30 takes off his headset and starts flailing around in celebration.]] However, seeing an opportunity, zai (Broodmother) teleports into Talon's base. 23savage quickly tries to correct his mistake by teleporting to intercept zai, but Boxi throws out an avalanche to prevent him from teleporting back. 23savage then desperately tries to hit the throne, but a Fate's Edict from Insania, Telekinesis from Boxi and liquid's own glyph buys just enough time for zai to rat out the win. If 23savage hadn't used glyph and just focused the ancient, Talon would have won the game then and there.
