* From the first episode:
** Yurippe manages one in only the first couple of minutes with her talk about how the (currently "Not Dead Yet") Battlefront is constantly changing it's name, never satisfied with the ones they end of picking. Otonashi then asks why she's in possession of a firearm, to which Yuri replies with a sigh and "Everyone new always asks me that..." A few seconds later she begins to reconsider the Battlefront's current name and asks Otonashi if he has a good new name for it.
** A minor one happens a bit later when Otonashi, despite Yuri's warning, goes to talk to Angel. Cue the latter scratching her head in frustration.
--->'''Yuri:''' AAAAAHHHHH! I failed to recruit a new member!
** Noda killing Otonashi... one hundred times. What makes the scene is the [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario]] 1-Up sounds that eventually follow each death. Then he resurrects a few minutes later, complaining that he missed his punchline.
** The entire discussion about reincarnation is pretty funny, like discussing becoming a barnacle and devoured by humans, but the best part is when Yuri forgets the current name of their group and a deadpan "Barnacle Battlefront" is provided off screen, and so Yuri actually almost uses that name before angrily decking the guy who'd said that and declaring that they're switching back to their original name.
** When discussing the NPCS Otonashi asks if they have repeating dialogue like real [=NPC=]s. Yuri suggests offering an enema to one of them and seeing what happens. The best part is that the whole incident is never mentioned again. The suggestion, I mean. The enema never [[{{Rule34}} happened]].
** Otonashi goes looking around for an adult and comes across the Principal's office. He touches the doorknobs and...cue the pendulum trap pummelling him out of the windows, killing him. Otonashi death count, 102.
*** Noda follows the suit, getting cut off mid-sentence. The kicker? [[HoistByHisOwnPetard He's the one who designed the trap in the first place]].
* Noda getting pummeled by a pendulum trap in episode 2, the moment punctuated by the first few words of the ending song only for it to be abruptly cut off once said pendulum smashes him into the wall.
** It is also something of a HumiliationConga mixed with ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill, because let's see, getting hit by a hammer, hitting the wall, hammered once more, collapse on the floor, and buried by debris from the wall that he was smashed into. Yeah, ButtMonkey.
** A huge chunk of Episode 2, which actually manages to make DwindlingParty [[{{BloodyHilarious}} utterly hilarious.]]
*** When the SSS comes across the DescendingCeiling, TK stops the supports it, telling them to go on in a heroic tone. Cue everyone casually moving on, saying things like "Ok, see ya!" "Thanks!" and after Otonashi, the only one who feels remotely sorry about the whole thing, gets out, TK collapses in a short "Blaarrgh."
*** The party get dropped in a deep pit and have to form a human ladder to climb to safety. Yurippe tells Otonashi to just grab her anywhere he can so he can climb out. But when it's Hinata's turn....
---->'''Yurippe:''' AH! DON'T GRAB ME THERE! ''[THWACK!]''\\
'''Hinata:''' ''AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH YYYYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUU BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII[[CurseCutShort T-]]''\\
''(scene change)''\\
'''Otonashi:''' Where's Hinata?\\
'''Yurippe:''' [[BlatantLies He was a noble sacrifice.]]
*** After a good chunk of the party is killed on the trek to the Guild, Fujimaki says that Otonashi will be the next to go. One commerical break later, [[SuperDrowningSkills guess who's bobbing like a dead goldfish?]]
---->'''Otonashi:''' Poor bastard couldn't swim.
*** Shiina falling over down the fall after trying to catch a (obviously toy) puppy.
---->'''Shiina:''' (falling to her death) How thoughtleeeessssss!!! (Or "It's just a toooooooooooooy!!!")
** The end credits starting from Episode 2 have Shiina balancing on Fujimaki's shirasaya. And for the rest of the series, never moves from there.
* Takeyama weaponizing MouthfulOfPi against Noda.
** And this gem from Yuri right after:
--->"Yes. That's right. Our weakness is that we're all stupid."\\
"The leader really shouldn't be saying things like that..."
* In episode 4, after Hinata's several failures at trying to recruit his baseball team...
-->'''Yui:''' It's all right, for I, Yui-nyan will give you a hand!\\
'''Hinata:''' What did you just say?\\
'''Yui:''' [[{{Moe}} Yui-nyan!]]\\
'''Hinata:''' (gets her in a reverse swastika) [[BerserkButton THAT'S WHAT I HATE ABOUT YOU!!!!]]\\
'''Yui:''' I GIVEIGIVEIGIVEIGIVE!!!
** Later that day, after they get to the field, Otonashi pitches the ball....then out of nowhere, Noda pops out strikes the ball...with his halbeldier, challenging him once again. Otonashi catches the ball back, throws it back, and it continues until the judge calls foul on both of them. It happens a second time a bit later when Otonashi's the catcher and fails to catch a ball.
--->'''Yui:''' Even death can't cure stupid!
** In a near TearJerker aversion, Hinata, goes to catch the ball, the same way it happened in his past life. He wonders, "I would disappear if I catch this ball, right? But it would be the most wonderful feeling..." Otonashi runs toward him, because he doesn't want him to go yet... then Hinata gets tackled by Yui, who wants her revenge, putting him in reverse swastika.
** After the special opening theme, [[MoodWhiplash Yui lynched herself with the microphone cable]], turning the mood from badass right back to hilarious.
** Yuri's banter with Yusa regarding Yuri's supposedly infamous penalty games. And later Yuri giving an [[EvilLaugh villainous sounding]] version of a NoblewomansLaugh, prompting Yusa to remark [[LampshadeHanging that she sounds like a villain.]]
** The end credits have Yui join in, by having Hinata in a chokehold.
* Rocket propulsion seats for a distraction when you can't pull one off from Episode 5 anyone?
** [[RuleOfThree Thrice]]. And with the show's ending, ''Brave Song'', [[SoundtrackDissonance playing in the background]].
** Hinata tries at distraction, Hinata fails at distraction, Hinata gets sent flying. Takamatsu tries at distraction, Takamatsu fails at distraction, Takamatsu gets sent flying. Ooyama tries at distraction, Ooyama fails at distraction, [[{{ButtMonkey}} Hinata gets sent flying]]. His outburst at Yurippe following this is priceless.
*** "The truth is...[[{{ShirtlessScene}} my clothes make me look skinnier!]]"
*** "That's fabulous, now sit down."
*** "Why are you still shirtless?"
*** ''(musing)'' "Maybe I should take off my pants next..."
*** ''[[NoIndoorVoice ENOUGH! KNOCK IT OFF, ALL OF YOU!]]''
*** In the Slow Motion of the third flight Hinata [[{{Narm}} sounds like]] [[Franchise/StarWars Chewbacca]].
*** When asked about it later, Hinata claims he got launched ''again'', this time [[OffscreenMomentofAwesome spiraling around the room before crashing through a window.]]
** From after Takamatsu strips his top off, he doesn't put it back on when they are having lunch and even thinks about striping his pants off for the next day for another distraction. The end credits for that episode even leave him shirtless, as does Episode 7 and 8.
* Takeyama being interrupted when he tries to say his catchphrase. In episode 5, Yuri turns to talk to someone else when he starts to say it. In episode 11, she hangs up on him.
* Episode 7:
** Naoi hypnotizing Hinata into believing he's lower than a clothespin.
*** Naoi does it again to Hinata in episode 11, only with toilet paper this time. Hinata even spins like he is being flushed.
** Kanade's initial attempts at fishing during Operation Monster Stream. The first time, her hook snags on Hinata's mouth, while her second try – after being instructed by Otonashi to "fling the line with all [her] might" – ends up getting Takeyama ''by the nostril'' and sends him airborne, reducing him to ATwinkleInTheSky as he utters his catchphrase.
* Episode 8:
** To avoid drawing attention from the [[EvilTwin evil Angel clones]] in the aftermath of the previous episode, Yuri instructs the SSS to act like model students in class (without paying too much actual attention to avoid becoming obliterated). What follows is a montage of shenanigans -- ranging from lower-key activities (such as listening to music and doodling) to more egregious ones (e.g., TK waving his arms; Noda spinning his halberd outside an adjacent window).
*** Special mention goes to Yui, who ends up StandingInTheHall with buckets of water in each hand, and an additional one ''resting atop her head''.
** The latter half of the episode has the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGGHOI6NIY0 rehash of the Guild trek]] (1:19-3:46), which means yet another stream of [[{{BlackHumor}} gruesome deaths.]]
*** The fact that, after each death, everybody screams the person's name dramatically. Hinata {{Lampshade|Hanging}}s it the first time:
---->"Oi! What's with this scene like we're in a shounen manga!?"
*** Also Naoi hypnotizing Ooyama into performing a HeroicSacrifice.
---->"Let me make you sm~ile--" *SPLORTCH*
*** After a series of (temporary) {{Heroic Sacrifice}}s, each followed by [[SayMyName everyone else shouting their name melodramatically]], Naoi sacrifices himself; one [[{{Beat}} be]][[{{Pun}} at]] later...
---->'''Hinata:''' Hey, someone say something...\\
'''Yui:''' I don't know his name...
* Episode 10 has [[ASimplePlan Otonashi's plan]] to let him talk to Yui alone. The plan (illustrated in whimsical, animated paper cutouts) calls for Kanade to interrupt GDM's band practice, claim that the other clubs are complaining about the noise, and then confiscate Yui's guitar, so that Yui chases her and sees Otonashi "rescue" the instrument from Kanade. The plan, however, goes off-the-rails:
** Instead of telling the band off for making noise, Kanade simply bursts into the room and randomly insults Yui's guitar playing. Which happens right after the other band members have done so. No wonder that Yui, instead of giving chase, simply deflates like a balloon losing air.
** Kanade runs off with the guitar anyway and pointlessly hands it to the dumbfounded Otonashi.
--->'''Kanade:''' Here.\\
'''Otonashi:''' ''(beat)'' Why are you here by yourself?\\
'''Kanade:''' Because she didn't chase me.\\
'''Otonashi:''' ''(making a face)'' ...eh?
** Kanade and Otonashi return to the band practice room for a second try. Yui, meanwhile, manages to get out of her funk, delivers a MotorMouth rant about how singers look best when playing the guitar, then bursts out of the room to chase Kanade... without even questioning why is Kanade still right outside the door after several minutes.
** As per the plan, Otonashi "accidentally" bumps into Kanade and she drops the guitar... or rather, theatrically throws it into the sky with an adorable "waah" (in the Japanese dub) or an over-the-top scream (in the English dub).
* Episode 11 has Hinata and Naoi trying to out HoYay each other to help Otonashi.
* The shadows don't seem to have emotions or even consciousness, but that one that gets chopped up bit by bit by Angel's Hand Sonic, seemed [[OhCrap really shocked]].
* The end credits for Episode 12, while being heartwarming for bringing back characters like Iwasawa, Yui and Takamatsu, had a few changes done to it. Matsushita has his new thinner form and is for some reason mimicking TK's pose right next to him, while Yui is putting on a face at Hinata, while Hinata himself is moving to slap her head.
* The last episode, while largely [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments heartwarming]] and [[TearJerker tearjerking]], has its share of comedic moments.
** A flustered Yuri frantically attempts to deny being at peace (including decking Naoi, who tries to hypnotize her, with a blanket and a pillow) -- which only convinces the remaining characters otherwise.
** Yuri in general is more flustered and “girlish” (as Otonashi puts it) in the episode, the resolution of her inner and outer conflicts having lightened the load off her back. Hinata calls her “kind of cute” at one point as a result, causing Yuri to [[LuminescentBlush become flush with red]] and beat up on the former while letting out a slew of {{Angrish}}. This gets a chuckle out of the ordinarily stoic [[NotSoStoic Kanade]].
--->'''Yuri:''' ''(while smacking Hinata) WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, ‘CUTE?’ I’VE NEVER BEEN CUTE…''
** Kanade's song about Mapo Tofu.
** Hinata wears a school principal costume (complete with a bald cap and a mustache) as he hands out the diplomas, to his chagrin.
** The group nearly finishes the final graduation song when [[MomentKiller Naoi suddenly interrupts]], complaining about Hinata’s singing.
--->'''Naoi:''' Pick up the pace, will you?\\
'''Hinata:''' What? You’re singing way too fast!\\
'''Naoi:''' This is clearly your fault!\\
'''Hinata:''' You treat me so differently from Otonashi!
* The ENTIRE first Special Episode. Picture every member of the Battlefront forced by Yuri to act like a LargeHam on pain of death. It truly must be seen to be believed.
** To elaborate, Yuri orders the group to maintain [[LargeHam a high tension-level]] for 24 hours or suffer not getting to eat for a full week. While they technically succeed in the mission, Yuri still forces them to suffer the penalty anyway after finding out that Angel's secret wasn't a path to Heaven, but just a private garden. If you had already seen how the series ends, the credits ends up being [[CrossesTheLineTwice doubly funny]] because all the characters except for Yuri immediately disappear because they all starved to death.
** Of all the characters, it is [[TheQuietOne Shiina]] that gets the highest tension-level when she just raised the tension meter to [[ReadingsAreOffTheScale 9999]] just for saying "CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!!!".
** {{BAD END}}
** When Noda arrives and starts hamming it up, Hinata remarks that he's just acting like he always does.
* The second Special is more delicious BlackComedy, but this time it's inflicted on the SSS by their own members, under [[BadBoss Yuri's]] orders.
** To elaborate, Yuri's plan is to go on a picnic to the mountains, with Kanade's permission as she is likely to follow them and then start killing each other to pass off as being possessed by a demon so that Kanade will summon God to deal with it. [[DwindlingParty It goes as well as expected]]:
** Noda gets killed first (as usual) by an exploding volleyball planted by Takamatsu. He asked Guild to help make it and apparently its name is "Attacker Killer".
** Takamatsu gets blasted in the face by Ooyama with a badminton shuttlecock. Ooyama had asked the Science Club to create a special engine powered racket called "Receiver Crusher".
** Matsushita suffers a horrible death by getting ripped apart by vines. Fujimaki then stated he asked the Theatre Club to make the trap from a movie he watched. What makes it funny is that despite throwing up to the sight of what happened, Ooyama quickly cheers up and enthusiasticly says they should hurry and go fishing.
** Fujimaki gets drowned by the Synchronized Swimming Club (possibly arranged by Matsushita), with Otonashi being surprised that he drowned in shallow water.
** Then helicopters show up in the style of Film/ApocalypseNow, with Hinata explaining that he asked the Radio Communications Club for their help. They spray gasoline on the guys and TK performs a HeroicSacrifice by pushing Ooyama out of the way before a missile lights up the gasoline on him. He utters out a warning about the Manga Club before he burns to death. Right after that, Ooyama gets hooked by the Fishing Club and pulled into the river, where the Synchronized Swimming Club drowns another member of the SSS.
** Hinata then gets caught in a net and staked by dip pens from the Manga Club, leaving Otonashi as the sole survivor.
** Girls Dead Monster weren't excluded from the operation, so Sekine and Irie use this chance to get a little revenge on Iwasawa and Hisako for their scoldings and hogging the spotlight. They make numerous pitfalls before the operation starts and first lead Iwasawa away from Hisako and into the first one while she is explaining her life's story, which she does, only to NoSell it and continue her story like nothing happened. Rinse and repeat a few more times, leading to Sekine and Irie being more and more terrified of Iwasawa after each trap fails and Iwasawa suffering ClothingDamage after each trap, while not skipping a beat in her storytelling.
** Sekine and Irie also manage to get Shiina involved in preparing a trap that involves raw livers and fake blood in a bucket. How did they do it? By bribing her with a companion for her toy dog.
** When Hisako catches up to the other Girls DeMo girls, she then falls into a pitfall, at which Sekine and Irie make OhCrap faces and when Hisako climbs out of the pitfall knowing that Sekine is responsible, the girl in question immediately tries to pull a ScrewThisImOuttaHere with Irie at her heels and Iwasawa being confused by the whole situation.
** Then Shiina drops the bucket of raw livers and fake blood after the toy dogs activate and is distracted by their cuteness, which just happens to fall on Hisako and even Iwasawa knows something is bad is going to happen when that happened. It turns out that Hisako got so angry that she [[TransformationSequence turns demonic]], complete with the sky turning dark, her voice deepening, with a visible BattleAura and DramaticWind. She then process to kick Sekine across the path they are on and force feed her (Sekine) the livers stuck on her (Hisako) body.
** When Kanade and Otonashi finds Hisako in that state, Yuri shows up to see her plan carried out, only to be genuinely surprised that Kanade doesn't call for God.
** Even Kanade isn't immune from the wackiness of this OVA as she goes to confront Hisako while saying out a piece of dialogue that is so totally out of character that it hurts Otonashi.
--->'''Kanade:''' Demon... you've finally reached your limit, haven't you? The reason my hand was aching was because of this. Give me power. (something resembling an ActivationSequence) Hand Sonic!\\
'''Yuri:''' You've never done that before when using that!\\
'''Otonashi:''' It kind of hurts to hear...\\
'''Kanade:''' I'm going to seal you in the third world once more.\\
'''Otonashi:''' It really does hurt!
** Hisako is so powerful in this state that she '''throws''' Kanade off the mountain, with Yuri in complete shock and Iwasawa remarking it as amazing. Then the other SSS members arrive recovered from their earlier deaths, only for Hisako to target them and stuff livers in their mouths as well, then she spots Yuri and Otonashi who pull a ScrewThisImOuttaHere.
** Turns out Sekine suffered intense diarrhea afterwards due to the raw livers being spoiled (she and Irie had been ordering them for lunch for a whole week to set up the trap).
** The end credits are slightly different as it includes everyone (except Takeyama who chronically would not be introduced until the day of Iwasawa's last concert and Naoi who hadn't joined up with them yet, plus Yui and Hinata use the poses they are seen in Episode 12 for some reason) and at the end shows Hisako turning into her demon form.
!!From the visual novel (1st Beat)
* After the amnesiac Otonashi joins the SSS on the first day it's possible for him to select a nickname instead of having him remember his name. The choices, as suggested by different characters, are (second names provided by Alka Translations):
** Fujimaki: F*** A**hole/Damn Brat
** Hinata: Attorney (probably needs a better translation)/Proxy
** Ooyama: The Subtle Ikemen(?)/Cool Dude (later adds Way Too Iffy Cool Dude)
** Matsushita: {{Lolicon|AndShotacon}}
** Takamatsu: Glasses Comrade
** Yuri: [[{{OverlyLongName}} Japan's Record Holder for Mental Arithmetic/All-Japan Mental Arithmetic Champion]]
** Yusa: Shadow Killer/Slasher
** Iwasawa: Memoryless Man/No-Memory Man
*** After this choice Otonashi can either keep the nickname or attempt to remember his name (with the choices being his canonical name from the series or variations using the kanji for "sound" (音)). His choice is locked in for the rest of the play through. Yes, it's entirely possible, with voiced text, [[{{RefugeInAudacity}} for Otonashi to be referred to as]] {{Lolicon|AndShotacon}} [[{{CrossesTheLineTwice}} for the entire game]] (or at least until the story forces the Otonashi to recall memories from his previous life).
* When the SSS tries to sabotage Angel's exam scores (episode 5 of the anime) it's possible to switch out Ooyama for Irie, Girl Dead Monster's [[{{ShrinkingViolet}} Shrinking Violet]] drummer. Yuri will even force HER to make a love confession towards Angel. Not only that, Otonashi originally suggested Sekine, so she somehow convince Irie to swap duties with her.
** Unlike the male members' attempts at distractions [[{{GirlOnGirlIsHot}} this one actually works]]!
** If Otonashi lets someone else handle explaining to Kanade what they are arguing about between the tests, Ooyama will explain things to her instead. For first time, he explains that he and Hinata are arguing about a girl they both like, for the second it was about the traits of the girl they like and how different they are, with Ooyama saying that he likes that the girl is shorter than him and a bit of an airhead while Hinata likes that she is a slender, cool beauty. When it comes time for Ooyama's fake confession, instead of coldly telling him off that there is a better time and place for a confession like in the anime, she confirms with Ooyama that she is indeed the girl they were talking about before and then admits that she is happy that someone considers her a slender, cool beauty, before politely telling him that there is a better time and place for a confession. As that is going on, Takeyama successfully swaps out Kanade's test paper.
* When Otonashi asks about how TK got his name, Hinata says that Noda came up with it and that TK is short for "Totally Krazy".
* In Godan Matsushita's route, Otonashi recruits Shinna into helping Godan remember his cousin Hinako’s face by drawing a portrait of her face based on his memories of her. When asking Godan about her features, he gives basic descriptions like her having a nose, two eyes, etc, at which point Shinna asks if the person she is drawing is human. At that, Otonashi quickly abandons this idea to think of a new way to help Godan.
* Remember how Otonashi would ask Hinata if he swung that way in the anime? The visual novel gives you the option to let Otonashi turn the tables by acting interested in Hinata, not only that it even affects some of their interactions outside of dialogue choices.
