* One of your allies is Gilles de Rais. [[HistoricalDomainCharacter In real life]], he brutally murdered and raped children, possibly to sacrifice to a demon. But in the game, he's a good guy through and through. But when one considers that [[spoiler:at the end of the game, he allows himself to be possessed by BigBad Gilvaroth.]] Who's to say that he didn't end up as such a monster after the game ended?
** Gilles de Rais being a child murderer may have been influenced with the lack of Joan on his side. With Joan [[spoiler:actually still alive at the end, Gilles may be able to muster enough strength to keep Gilvaroth at bay and not turn out to be the child rapist/murderer he became in real life.]]
** Plus, there are some theories around that [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilles_de_Rais#Question_of_guilt question whether Gilles de Rais truly was a criminal, or he was framed/executed on false charges.]] One may never know...
* The Reapers, named for some of the SevenDeadlySins, have various complications - story-wise, or baiting the player - based on the sins.
** With Superbia (Pride), [[spoiler:Jeanne ends up locked in a room with him while the others have to fight around the map to get to her, because her overconfidence made her lower her guard and underestimate her foe]].
** With Avaritia (Greed), attempting to secure all the treasures on the mission can screw the player over as more monsters are periodically unleashed, culminating in a [[ThatOneBoss hideously over-powered dragon]] if you take too long.
** With Luxuria (Lust), sin of pleasure, is fought on a holy cathedral.
** With Ira (Wrath), you are literally fighting the wrath and anger of [[spoiler:Roger, over Liane's death when she was mistaken for Jeanne]]. This also invokes is counterpart virtue: Patience, as you have to, patiently, fight five consecutive battles with monsters before Ira himself shows up.
*** Gameplay-wise, both Ira and his {{Mooks}} will ignore the player most of time and attack you guest ally, [[spoiler: the ''good Liane'']].
* In real life, the common telling is that Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake for "Witchcraft". Magic is regularly used by the player characters in-game... however, the famous BurnTheWitch still happens. It actually makes sense - [[spoiler: Magic may be used by the characters, but they have an idea of what "Good" magic is and what "Evil" magic is. A "Witch" can be a character who got their magic power from a demon. Ergo, black magic.]] They also sidstep this by calling [[spoiler: Liane]] an "apostate" - which also fits, as the real Joan of Arc was burnt for heresy.
** Additionally? The armlet is mistaken as being power from a demon. Further reinforcing the "Apostasy" charges.

* The protagonists seemingly [[EarnYourHappyEnding earn their happy endings]]. Yes, there's been a horrific and largely pointless war, lots of English and French soldiers died, [[FantasticRacism the Therions are still an oppressed people]] and we lost Lian. But [[EldritchAbomination Gilvaroth]] is safely [[SealedInsideAPersonShapedCan sealed inside Gilles' body]], fated to smother under his HeroicResolve. OR IS HE? Gilles SEEMED like a RedHerring, since while the real man was a murderer/warlock/rapist, his fictional self is a solid teammate. However, we can assume that ''[[InferredHolocaust after the game]]'' Gilvaroth broke free and [[GrandTheftMe forced him]] [[BrainwashedAndCrazy to do all those horrible things he's remembered for.]] If this weren't depressing enough, doesn't that mean [[ParanoiaFuel Gilvaroth could easily be alive and well after Gilles' death...?]]
