* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4302297/1/In_His_Shoes In His Shoes]]'' inflicts this on [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Zuko and Sokka]], [[spoiler:back when they were still enemies]].
* Another fanfic called ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2269454/1/In-His-Shoes In His Shoes]]'', this one from the Manga/RurouniKenshin fandom, has GeniusBruiser Hiko and {{Bishonen}} FragileSpeedster Kenshin swapping bodies during a sparring match and trying to avoid detection. Aoshi almost figures out what happened, detecting the switch but not realizing it wasn't an advanced training technique.
* ''Series/TheXFiles'' fanfic ''[[http://krycek.gossamer.org/author/10082-1.html Impulse]]'' has Mulder and Scully swap bodies. HilarityEnsues as Scully has to interview an abductee and Mulder is forced to do an autopsy.
* In ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3791056/1/The_Switch_Glitch The Switch Glitch]]'', a magic e-mail chain letter causes an eccentric ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' fangirl to swap bodies with Edward Elric himself (for the first quarter of the fic at least). HilarityEnsues.
* Done in Episode Nine of ''WebVideo/DemyxTime'', with the two ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' leads Demyx and Axel.
* Both ''FanFic/MegsFamilySeries'' and ''FanFic/TheSpellbook'' use this trope, the former with ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy''[='s=] Peter and Zack, and the latter with Meg and Lois.
* ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5844006/1/A_Mile_in_His_Shoes A Mile in His Shoes]]'' uses the "learning experience" part of this trope with ''Manga/OnePiece''[='s=] Zoro and Sanji's rather opposite approaches to romance being contrasted to the benefit of both.
* The SelfInsert fanfics ''FanFic/SpellbindingRadiance'' and ''FanFic/MassVexations'' engaged in a flip in which the two author avatars switch bodies ''across fanfics''. It was mostly played for laughs, and within the continuity of both fics it's treated as a BizarroEpisode given that it was an AprilFoolsDay prank.
* In ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3742152/1/10_Miles_In_Your_Shoes 10 Miles In Your Shoes]]'', Kai and Tyson of ''Anime/{{Beyblade}}'' explore each others life through this.
* In ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2667351/1/Trading_places Trading Places]]'', WesternAnimation/{{Sponge Bob|SquarePants}} swaps bodies with [[WesternAnimation/TheWildThornberrys Eliza Thronberry's older sister Debbie]].
* In ''Fanfic/CalvinAndHobbesTheSeries'', this occurs between frenemies [[GadgeteerGenius Calvin]] and [[ThePrankster Socrates]] and (unsurprisingly) HilarityEnsues.
* ''Franchise/HarryPotter'':
** The infamous Body Swap Day at ''Roleplay/AbsitOmen'' saw a fair chunk of Hogwarts' population randomly swapping bodies thanks to a breakfast-time prank. It wore off by dinner, leaving enough time for a few relationship revelations and a canceled Quidditch match.
** At least a dozen different stories have involved body-swapping, usually as the result of a potions mishap or screwed-up spell. Popular choices include Harry/Draco Malfoy and Harry/Snape.
* In [[http://archiveofourown.org/works/369699 Joy Ride]], [[Series/StarskyAndHutch Starsky]] switches bodies with his ''car''. Naturally, HilarityEnsues.
* FanFic/TheInfiniteLoops will sometimes shuffle Loopers around to different positions when they reboot.
* Several of them occur over the course of ''FanFic/DiariesOfAMadman''. So far they've been used for revenge, a competition to see who can act the most like the other, or have been caused by Twilight messing up a spell.
* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/1530351/22/A-Walk-in-Your-Shoes A Walk In Your Shoes]]'' has Lily and James experience this in their seventh year at Hogwarts with a twist of the understanding of the other being a prerequisite of changing back to thier original bodies.
* This is a rather common trope in ''Roleplay/WeAreAllPokemonTrainers''. Examples include:
** Happened three times from Sinnoh to Unova-1, first with Jane and Palkia, the second time with DS and Artemis and the third with Daisy and Pink. A weird variation of this also seemed to happen between Jane and Entei.
** Happens yet again with Anom and Wolf, due to a Manaphy. Unlike the other examples, it's played as a more serious major plot point rather than a brief joke, and lasted for pretty much the whole Oblivia arc.
** This later happened in Kalos when a particularly "playful" Obscuric being decided to swap Mezzo and Eskay's minds. This ended up causing a small amount of chaos, especially when the fix turned out to be a kiss.
** Deziree, Psyche, and Pentigan end up switching bodies for a brief period during the Fiore portion of Ranger-2.
