''The Last Supper'' is a 1996 BlackComedy film directed by Stacy Title. It stars Creator/CameronDiaz, Ron Eldard, Annabeth Gish, Jonathan Penner and Creator/CourtneyBVance as five liberal graduate school students who invite a string of right-wing extremists to dinner in order to murder them.

Not to be confused with the [[Art/TheLastSupper famous painting of the same name]].

!!This film provides examples of:

* AccidentalMurder: The first one, at least. [[MurderMakesYouCrazy It inspires the others.]]
* AssholeVictim: How the characters justify the murders.
* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler:Norman figures out the main characters' scheme and kills them via PoisonedChaliceSwitcheroo, but by that point they've gone so far over the line with their murderous actions that it's very hard to see it as a case of TheBadGuyWins.]]
* BlackAndGrayMorality: While the far-rightists the group is pursuing are certainly dicks, it becomes increasingly clear that the students are being far worse than the extremists ever were. We even see their victims [[VillainDecay becoming less villainous]] (eventually killing a woman they consider [[FelonyMisdemeanor too restrictive about what books should be taught in schools.]])
* {{Deconstruction}}: Of [[PoliticalCorrectnessGoneMad out-of-control liberalism and political correctness]], not to mention of extremism in general.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: "The dinners aren't even very good anymore!"
* TheFundamentalist: Among the victims is a homophobic reverend.
* GodwinsLaw: "You encounter a young painter by the name of Adolf Hitler."
* HeroAntagonist: A female police officer snoops around the group while investigating the murders. [[spoiler:They kill her, too.]]
* HeteronormativeCrusader: Opponents of LGBT rights are among the victims.
* IgnoredEpiphany: One of their victims appears to be reconsidering his positions... after he's already been poisoned. But then he brushes that off and lapses back into his hateful rhetoric (to the students' obvious relief).
* JerkassFacade: Norman turns out to be a lot more reasonable in person than he is on TV. [[spoiler:Though the final shot implies that he's just a skilled manipulator, and may have been telling his hosts what they wanted to hear.]]
* KillThemAll: [[spoiler:The final scenes imply that Ron Perlman's character switches the poison and kills all the grad students.]]
* TheLastTitle: The title.
* MalcolmXerox: One of the victims is a racist Nation of Islam member.
* MurderIsTheBestSolution: The students believe that this is the best way to handle people who they consider morally or ideologically wrong.
* MurderMakesYouCrazy
* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Ron Perlman's outspoken, cigar-chomping, right-wing pundit is very reminiscent of Rush Limbaugh at the time of filming.
* NotSoDifferent: The whole point of the film is pointing out how the students are being little better than the extremists they believe they're punishing, if not worse.
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: The main characters ended up seeing that they are no different than the people that they are poisoning but they ended up being poisoned by Normon when he figures out their actions.
* SlidingScaleOfIdealismVersusCynicism: Extremely cynical.
* StrawMisogynist: One of the victims is a misogynistic rape apologist.
* VillainProtagonist: The characters start out sympathetic, but some begin to slide into villainy pretty quickly. They are pursued by a HeroAntagonist.
* WellIntentionedExtremist [[HypocriticalHumor (who kill other Well-Intentioned Extremists)]]
* WouldHurtAChild: One of the victims the students select is a teenaged Christian girl who [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope they target for believing in abstinence]]. Mercifully, one of them backs down and takes the kid home, but the profane threats the other students issue to the girl make it clear they were quite willing to kill her.
