''Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger'' was the third film by Creator/RayHarryhausen to feature SinbadTheSailor, portrayed in this outing by Patrick Wayne (son of JohnWayne).

This incarnation of Sinbad is due to marry the beautiful Princess Farah (Jane Seymour), but when he returns to her kingdom he and his crew are ambushed by monsters. The creatures are dispatched relatively easily, but the princess reveals to Sinbad that their troubles aren't over. Her brother, Prince Kassim, was about to be crowned King when his wicked stepmother Zenobia cast a spell that turned him into a baboon (animated by Harryhausen). If he isn't turned back into a human soon, Zenobia's equally wicked son will be crowned king instead. Sinbad and his crew, with Farah and Kassim in tow, head out to consult the great sorcerer Melanthius. He and his daughter Dione join the adventure as they all head for a lost, fertile city beyond the Arctic wastes where a magical energy that can reverse the curse can be found. All the while, Zenobia and her son, via a boat rowed by a clockwork minotaur, are in hot pursuit.

Not to be confused with [[Film/{{Rocky}} that other ''Eye of the Tiger'']] and its cult song.

!!''Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger'' provides examples of:
* AvoidTheDreadedGRating: Subverted. Despite the mild nudity, this film ''is'' rated G.
* BalefulPolymorph: Prince Kassim has been turned into a baboon.
* BareYourMidriff: Princess Farah.
* BathingBeauty: Princess Farah and Dione becomes these once they get to Hyperborea, only to be interrupted by the troglodyte.
* BeastAndBeauty: Dione with Kassim, and later with the troglodyte.
* BetaCouple: Dione and Kassim. Though they meet well after he's been transformed into a baboon, he is inwardly still human enough for the two to form a bond with each other before TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody takes effect.
* BigCreepyCrawlies: A giant wasp.
* BillingDisplacement: For some reason Taryn Power is credited second after Patrick Wayne, despite Dione being a less important character than Zenobia, Farah, or Melanthius. Being the daughter of Tyrone Power might have had something to do with it. Either that, or the fact that Taryn Power grew up in Spain, where a good bit of the film was shot; she made her first two films (in Spanish) there.
* BlackGuyDiesFirst: Actually subverted: Maroof narrowly escapes death during the giant walrus attack and is among the last of the characters to [[spoiler: die in the film]].
* BloodMagic: Used by Zenobia.
* BookEnds: The movie opens with the unsuccessful coronation of Kassim, and closes with [[spoiler: the ''successful'' one, at last]].
* TheChick: Princess Farah definitely (she manages to screw up ''walking''), Dione slightly less so.
* EverythingsWorseWithBees: When the bee laps up the red liquid, it starts growing...until [[spoiler: it becomes a giant hornet!]]
* EvilStepmother: The sorceress Zenobia.
* FriendToAllLivingThings: Dione.
* GentleGiant: The troglodyte turns out to be one.
* HarmlessFreezing: The Guardian of the Shrine, a giant sabre tooth tiger, has been frozen in ice for thousands of years. It re-animates and breaks out of the ice, alive and unharmed. Justified, as it's the work of Zenobia's dark magic.
* IdiotBall: When Melanthius interrogates Zenobia he not only ''shows her the map and key'' and lets slip that they are searching for the Arimaspi shrine, but then feeds some of her growth formula to a ''killer bee''. Not surprisingly, the ensuing mayhem allows Zenobia to escape.
* ALoadOfBull: Zenobia's servant the Minaton, a giant bronze minotaur-shaped golem. In close-ups the Minaton is animated. In long shots it was portrayed by Peter Mayhew, who also played Chewbacca in ''StarWars''.
* LicensedPinballTable: Creator/{{Gottlieb}}'s ''Pinball/{{Sinbad}}'', released in 1978.
* LostWorld: Hyperborea, land of troglodytes and the eponymous sabre-toothed tiger.
* MadScientistsBeautifulDaughter: Dione is a variant where the Mad Scientist in question (Melanthius) is a good guy.
* TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody: Kassim initially retains his humanity after he's transformed -- he can play chess with Farah and Sinbad and even write. By the time the party reaches Hyperboria, he's acting much more like an actual baboon, and Melanthius fears that if he isn't changed back soon, he never will be.
* MsFanservice: Princess Farah (Jane Seymour) and Dione (Taryn Power).
* OneWingedAngel: Variation in the climax -- Zenobia merges herself with the frozen body of a giant sabre-toothed tiger, bringing the beast to life, so she can finish off the heroes.
* PartialTransformation: This happens to [[spoiler: Zenobia -- she doesn't have enough elixir to fully undo her seagull transformation the second time 'round]].
* TheStinger: The end credits roll over the remains of the Hyperborea shrine, and at the end of them [[spoiler: Zenobia's cat eyes open, providing a jump scare]].
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Most of Princess Farah's outfits cover very little.
* ToplessnessFromTheBack: Princess Farah often; the scene where she and Dione are bathing is perhaps the most blatant.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Zenobia transforms into a seagull to slip onto Sinbad's ship undetected.
