->'''Freddy:''' ''Time to start all over again.''
->'''Maggie:''' ''But this isn't Springwood!''
->'''Freddy:''' ''Hehehe... Every town -- has an Elm Street! Haaahahaha!''

'''''Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare''''' is the sixth film and the [[SeriesFauxnale supposed finale]] of the ''Franchise/ANightmareOnElmStreet'' series, released in 1991.

In "ten years from now", Freddy has managed to kill all the children in Springwood, sans one whom he has left alive to aid in his plan to break out from there, so that he can continue killing where-ever he chooses to.

----
!!This film provides examples of:

* ThreeDMovie: The final portion of the film was filmed in 3D. When Maggie puts on a pair of 3D glasses, audience is supposed to do the same.
* AbusiveParents: Literally every main character has abusive parents. Carlos had a mother whose abuse caused him to become deaf, Spencer has a father who psychologically abuses him, Tracy had a father who sexually abused her, and Maggie's biological father...well, you know. Even Freddy is shown to have a foster father who physically abuses him during his teen years.
** FridgeBrilliance shows that out of all the Nightmare movies, with the exception of Jesse's mom in 2 and Alice's reformed dad in 5, Freddy Krueger was the only parent in the series worth a damn. Abusive, aloof, or drunken parents are all over the place in the series. Meanwhile, in the flashback sequences, Fred Krueger is shown doing absolutely nothing other than loving that little girl for all she's worth.
* BewareOfHitchhikingGhosts: It uses the "apparition in front of the car" version. A little girl appears on the road as the characters are driving to Springwood, telling them "Go back!". Only one character can see her, and he jerks the wheel, nearly crashing the vehicle. Interestingly, the vision is not a ghost, but actually a manifestation of another character when she was younger. The character in question was actually the one driving, but couldn't see her younger self, presumably because she was fully awake.
* BatterUp: When Doc comes face to face with Freddy, he attacks him with a baseball bat.
* BuryYourDisabled: [[spoiler:The deaf kid Carlos becomes Freddy's first dream victim.]]
* TheCameo: Creator/JohnnyDepp, Roseanne Barr, Tom Arnold and Music/AliceCooper all have appearances.
* ChekhovsGun: The confiscated weapons in the youth shelter.
* ChildlessDystopia: Springwood has been turned into one.
* ComicbookAdaptation: By Innovation Publishing.
* CreatorCameo: Producer Robert Shaye appears as the guy selling bus tickets.
* CrowbarCombatant: A crowbar is among the weapons used against Freddy in the climax.
* DarkerAndEdgier: The victims Freddy goes after have significantly-harsher past histories (child abuse, incest and [[spoiler: being the daughter of a serial killer]]) than those from previous films. Despite this (and the tagline on the film poster, seen above), this film is also [[LighterAndSofter by far the most comedic in the series, and the death scenes are pretty light on gore]].
* DeathByIrony: In the FinalBattle, [[spoiler: Maggie stabs Freddy with the clawed glove, his signature weapon. It doesn't actually kill him, but it's still ironic.]]
* DecoyProtagonist: [[spoiler:John Doe]].
* DealWithTheDevil: Freddy got his powers when, at the moment of his death, he made a deal with the dream demons.
* DyingTown: Springwood has become this, Freddy having killed everyone under the age of eighteen. The remaining adults are left insane, and presumably unable to leave town due to Freddy's influence.
* EarAche: One so bad that it makes its recipient's [[YourHeadAsplode head explode]].
* EasyAmnesia: John Doe.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: Maggie.
* {{Epigraph}}: The film opens with two quotes; one from Creator/FriedrichNietzsche ("Do you know the terror of he who falls asleep? To the toes he is very terrified, because the ground gives the way under him, and the dream begins...") and one from Freddy ("[[Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet3DreamWarriors Welcome to prime time, bitch]].")
* EvilHasABadSenseOfHumor: Freddy is like this, and defiant to the very end. In the final scene, when [[spoiler: Maggie takes his glove, he suggests that she "let daddy show you how to use it." She doesn't take him up on it.]]
* EvilPlan: Freddy's plan is to trick Maggie to free him from Springwood so that he start all over again. And again. And again....
* ExecutiveMeddling: A rare after-the-fact example. When the movie was in U.S. theaters in 1991, it ran 100 minutes, featuring many character moments and introductions (Maggie's foster mother doesn't just randomly show up near the end of the movie). However, for whatever reasons, New Line Cinema cut the movie down to 88 minutes for all home video releases, which unfortunately is all that has been available to this day. The German version of the movie, while cut down from the 100 minute version, also featured many of the scenes removed from the home video version.
* EyeScream: While not shown in the film, the comic adaptation shows that Freddy killed his adoptive father by stabbing him in the eye with the straight razor.
* FinalGirl: Maggie Burroughs/[[spoiler: Katherine Krueger]].
** Her actual name is Maggie Burnham. She is identified as this in the screenplay, Fangoria's Movie Magazine about the film at the time, and it can be seen on a bottle of prescription sleeping pills in the film.
* {{Fingore}}: Freddy counts the killing attempts on him by slicing off his fingers to show off to Doc.
* FlippingTheBird: When Freddy slices off his fingers one by one, he gives Doc the middle finger, [[LampshadeHanging noting that it's his favorite]].
* GambitRoulette: Freddy's plan relies on the fact that John Doe manages to [[spoiler:find his daughter and bring her to him]]. Considering that the plan has John becoming amnesiac, it's surprising that it even works.
* GroinAttack: Freddy sustains a kick to the balls courtesy of Tracy.
* HumanityEnsues: When Freddy is dragged into the real world, he becomes human again. He turns back into his standard form pretty quickly though, although he's still human even then.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: John falls from the sky, onto a bed of spikes placed by Freddy.
* ImprobableAimingSkills: Averted; out of all the stuff Maggie throws at Freddy, only one knife and one shuriken actually connect.
* JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind: Near the end, Maggie travels into Freddy's mind, and sees his memories.
* KilledOffForReal: Freddy Krueger. [[SpoilerTitle This is not a spoiler]]. Or at least he was until further installments were made. While ''Film/WesCravensNewNightmare'' is set outside the films' universe entirely and ''Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet2010'' is an outright reboot, ''Film/FreddyVsJason'' reveals that Freddy can never be killed and at best, exiled into an ambiguous hell dimension when he dies and trapped there so long as no one remembers him
* LukeIAmYourFather: The film reveals that [[spoiler:Freddy had a daughter named Maggie.]]
** [[spoiler:Well, he had named her Katherine.]]
* ManBitesMan: Maggie bites Freddy's nose during their fight at the end.
* MirrorScare: Tracy is splashing water on her face in a bathroom, but when she looks up, she sees in the mirror that the room has changed into her old childhood home -- where her abusive father is waiting.
* NailsOnABlackboard: Invoked by Freddy; he replaces Carlos's hearing aid with one that makes all sounds ultra-loud, then gets out a chalkboard and repeatedly scratches it with his knives until Carlos's head explodes.
* OmnicidalManiac: Freddy Krueger has ultimately destroyed Springwood completely by killing all its children and reducing their remaining parents to broken messes. He announces his plan to Maggie to continue doing it everywhere else -- as Freddy says, "Every town has an Elm Street".
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: The Dream Demons. They are ancient and serpentine in appearance, and hold lordship over all nightmares. They find the most evil human imaginable, who they will grant the power to [[RealityWarper turn dreams into reality]]. They chose Freddy Krueger, and made him immortal too.
* SceneryPorn
* SelfMadeOrphan: [[spoiler:Maggie kills Freddy, her father. He was exceptionally evil though.]]
* SelfMutilationDemonstration: Freddy cuts off his fingers ([[Film/ANightmareOnElmStreet1984 Again!]]) while counting the ways people have tried and failed to put him down for good. He regrows them instantaneously.
* SeriesFauxnale: It depends whether you accept ''Film/FreddyVsJason'' as a sequel to this film, or an {{interquel}} set earlier in the series.
** There should be no question that Freddy vs. Jason follows this one... Footage from this movie is used in the prologue covering Freddy's backstory. New Line's official position is that FvsJ follows this one as well.
* ShoutOut: John Doe's opening nightmare references ''Film/TheWizardOfOz'' with his house falling in the sky and Freddy appearing as the Wicked Witch.
-->'''Freddy:''' "I'll get you, my pretty! And your little soul, too!"
* SpoilerTitle: Yes, Freddy does die for real. It is not however [[SeriesFauxnale the]] ''[[SeriesFauxnale final]]'' [[SeriesFauxnale Nightmare]].
* StartOfDarkness: The barrage of flashbacks at the end serve this purpose.
* TheStoner: Spencer.
* TakeThatKiss: [[spoiler:Maggie]] does this after [[spoiler:stuffing a pipe bomb in Freddy's gut at the end.]]
* TemptingFate: During one of John Does dreams.
-->'''John Doe''': Nothing is gonna make me get off this bed.
-->''Bed lights on fire.''
* TitleDrop: Maggie declares that "Freddy's dead" when he is blown up.
* TrophyRoom: Shown briefly in Freddy's flashbacks. It was filled with, among other things, variant gloves, pictures of victims, Springwood Slasher-related newspaper clippings and toys presumably belonging to victims.
* TwoferTokenMinority: Carlos, who is both Hispanic and deaf.
* UnwittingPawn: John Doe in Freddy's plan to [[spoiler:bring his daughter to him]].
* VerbThis: Said by Freddy after getting beaten up by Tracy.
-->'''Freddy:''' "Kung fu this, bitch."
* VoiceChangeling: Freddy imitates Tracy's voice while retaining his normal form to mess with the Doc.
* WhamLine:
-->'''John Doe''': I know why you let me go.
-->'''Freddy''': Oh. Do you think [[spoiler:I'm your daddy]]? Mm-mm! Wrong!
-->'''John Doe''': But you let me live!
-->'''Freddy''': Only long enough for you to [[spoiler:bring me back ''my daughter'']]!
* YouKilledMyFather: [[spoiler:Maggie calls Freddy out on the fact that he killed his wife, her mother.]]
* YouNeedToGetLaid: Spencer's response to Tracy's bitchiness.
* YourHeadAsplode: [[spoiler:Carlos's death.]]
