First Kid is a 1996 movie starring Creator/Sinbad as Secret Service Agent Sammy Simms and Brock Pierce as his charge: Luke Davenport, son of President Paul Davenport.

!!Tropes:
* TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture: The film is set after Bill Clinton's presidency, since Clinton's cameo establishes him as Davenport's predecessor, implying that it's 2001 or later or Clinton lost reelection.
* AnimalLover: Luke owns a snake and a dog.
* ArtisticLicenseLawEnforcement: President Davenport's Secret Service callsign in the film is "Eagle", while Luke's callsign is "Prince". In reality, the First Family's Secret Service callsigns always begin with the same letter to make them easier to remember. "Eagle" was also the callsign of President UsefulNotes/BillClinton, who is shown to be Davenport's predecessor; the Secret Service would never use the same callsign for two different living Presidents.
* AssholeVictim: Not a lethal version, but it is a satisfying moment when Luke beats up Rob.
* BaitAndSwitch: After Luke fights Rob, Simms asks him, "What did I teach you about fighting?" in a disapproving tone. But then Luke answers, "Everything," and Simms says, "That's right."
* BaitTheDog: When Luke asks Simms to give him space, Robert walks over and acts friendly, inviting Luke to sit with him and his friends. Luke sees through his fake friend act and rejects him, Robert then starts a full-on fight with him.
* BlatantLies: Simms is not a good liar. At all.
* TheCameo: Music/SonnyBono and UsefulNotes/BillClinton both appear as themselves.
* ChekhovsGun: The necklace Simms gives Luke is actually a tracking device.
* ChekhovsGunman: Agent Woods, whom Luke gets fired, turns out to be [[spoiler:his online friend [=Mongoose12=]]].
* CodeName: The president's code name is "Eagle", and his son Luke is "Prince".
* CrazyJealousGuy: Robert acts like he’s entitled to go out with Katie and the second fight starts because Robert is jealous of Luke.
* DeadpanSnarker: Mr. Simms. Enough said.
* DecliningPromotion: After saving Luke from his former bodyguard, Simms is offered a promotion to protecting the president, which he wanted early in the film. He decides to stay where he is, both because of his friendship with Luke and because he's falling for Luke's biology teacher.
* Foreshadowing: Luke's internet handle is "[=ViperBoy=]", and his online friend is "[=Mongoose12=]". Since the snake and the mongoose are natural enemies (with the latter typically preying on the former), it's the first hint that Luke's friend isn't so friendly.
* GangstaStyle: This is how holds his gun during the climax to keep Simms from Luke when he is .
* ICantDance: Luke invites Katie to a school dance -- and then realizes that he can't actually dance. Simms teaches him how.
* JerkAss: Agent Woods manhandles Luke and isn’t remorseful one bit, in fact he gets worse, attempting to capture and murder Luke. Robert the school bully has no redeeming qualities and gets a kick out of bullying Luke and beating up a mascot (who happens to be Simms)
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Morton may seem like one of the most jerkish characters, but his heart is in the right place. However, he has many *KickTheDog moments.
** After firing Simms and denying his request to say goodbye to Luke, Morton says he'll tell Luke that Simms said goodbye. When Luke asks after Simms, Morton snidely says, "Luke, did any of your other agents say goodbye?" Firing Simms is doing his job, but the rest was just cruel.
* JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Robert initially comes off as a snarker, making jokes about Simms and shouting abuse at Luke at lunch. But when he comes over to Luke, he seems nice enough and maybe that is him dishing out banter and just being boisterous? Wrong.
* KickTheDog: Robert abusing the mascot, who is actually Simms. Morton is very cruel when he fires Simms, and needlessly tells Luke that Simms didn’t care about him.
* NiceGirl: Katie, who later becomes Luke’s girlfriend.
* PuppyLove: Luke and Katie clearly have a crush on each other. Their biology teacher even calls it "puppy love".
* SomethingOnlyTheyWouldSay: While talking to [=Mongoose12=] online, Luke jokes that his age is "21 if you're an older girl". During the climax, when takes him hostage and reminds him that he's "21 if you're an older girl", Luke realizes that his abductor is [=Mongoose12=], his online chat buddy who taught him how to get out his house arrest tracker.
* TakingTheBullet: During the climax, Simms does this to save Luke from who WouldHurtAChild. Since it's in the shoulder, he survives with minimal injuries. He even lampshades it right before Luke .
* TookALevelInBadass: Early in the film, Luke can't throw a punch to save his life and gets beat up by the school bully. Simms (a former boxer) trains him in self-defense, and he wins round two.
* TrackingDevice: Luke has two trackers on him shortly before the climax -- a pendant that Simms gives him, and a wrist monitor that the Secret Service puts on him while he's under house arrest. When he ditches the latter and escapes the White House, Simms uses the former to find him.
* TurnInYourBadge: After Simms gets busted for taking Luke to a school dance against orders, Morton makes him turn in his badge and firearm. Dash narrowly escapes the same fate because Simms takes all the blame.
