''Fatal Deviation'' is a 1998 Irish martial arts movie. Ireland's only martial arts movie, and [[SoBadItsGood perhaps for a very good reason]].
It tells the story of one Jimmy Bennett, a martial artist, returning to his hometown, Trim, after a decade in reform school, to investigate the death of his father. Along the way, he runs into the local drug ring, who are determined to win a local fighting contest, which will supposedly allow them to control the town, who may be [[ThePlotThickens connected to his father's death]], as well as a mysterious monk, and the beautiful Nicola.

!!Examples:
* AllMonksKnowKungFu
* {{Badass}}: Jimmy.
** BadassBiker: During the bike chase sequence.
* BarBrawl
* BangBangBANG: Averted, incredibly. [[KungFoley The punches and kicks are louder than the gunshots in this movie.]]
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Just before the final battle (and the infamous car crash), a man in a cowboy hat and a speedo appears, takes off his speedo and jumps into a heated open-air bathtub. The scene then changes to Jimmy driving and shooting at the Drug Lord bodyguards before crashing his car. After the crash and the ensuing explosion, the naked cowboy jumps out of his bathtub and runs off screen. His sudden presence in the film is never explained and he is never seen again.
* BlatantLies: Nicola brings Jimmy an apple tart that she claims she made herself. The tart is clearly bought from the supermarket where she works.
* BondOneLiner: "Enjoy the slide!"
* TheBrute: Seagull.
* CombatPragmatist: Everybody in the Bealtaine Tournament.
* ClickHello: "I'm not paying you to sit on your arse smoking."
** And again at the end of the movie. Jimmy simply disarms the Big Bad, gives him a PreMortemOneLiner, then shoots him.
* DeadpanSnarker: Jimmy. Or he would be if his lines weren't so filled with {{Narm}}.
** His accent doesn't help with this.
* TheDanza - Pretty much the entire cast. Justified in that none of them had ever acted before and would probably have difficulty responding to other names.
* DullSurprise: Nicola. Dear God, Nicola.
* FanDisservice: [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment One Mook strips naked, barring a cowboy hat and gets into an outdoor bath for no real reason.]]
* FightingIrish
* GangstaStyle: Mikey's preferred method of firearms handling.
* HeyItsThatGuy - Mikey Graham of Boyzone fame as TheDragon. And he's the best actor in the entire film. Seriously.
* InevitableTournament - The Bealtaine tournament, which for some reason, will allow the winner to take control of the town.
* InformedAttractiveness - You'd swear by the way men fawn over Nicola that she was played by ScarlettJohansson.
* IronicEcho: This little gem from the ending.
--> '''BigBad''': [[ClickHello (Pulls shotgun on Jimmy)]] You killed my son! Now I'm going to kill you, just like I killed your father!
--> '''Jimmy''': (Disarms BigBad and tosses him to the ground, pointing shotgun at him) YouKilledMyFather! [[PreMortemOneLiner Now I'm going to kill you, just like I killed your son!]]
* JustPlaneWrong - [[FailOSuckyname Seagull]] flies from Hong Kong to Trim in a ''Cessna''.
* KatanasAreJustBetter - The BigBad's weapon of choice when he killed Jimmy's father.
* KeepCirculatingTheTapes - For years, getting a full working copy of this movie was damn near impossible. The film really only gained its cult popularity after Colin Murphy reviewed it on ''TheBlizzardOfOdd''.
* NoBudget: This movie cost £8900 to make.
* NoKillLikeOverkill - In the climax of the film, [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Y9SCorKGx8o#t=411s Jimmy shoots a gangster in the head twice, then administers a rather unneeded roundhouse kick to the head]].
* OhCrap: The bouncers at the pub Jimmy is refused from for no reason when he charges at them.
* OldShame - For Mikey Graham anyway. This troper remembers seeing an interview where he was on a documentary about Irish actors trying to get their break in the States. Fatal Deviation is mentioned and he went all quiet.
* StormingTheCastle: The climax, in which Jimmy wipes out most of the gang to rescue Nicola.
* ThrowItIn: The car crash in the climax was unscripted.
* TrainingMontage: Several.
* TwoShotsFromBehindTheBar
* UnnecessaryCombatRoll - Jimmy rolls across the bonnet of a car and then back again in the middle of a fight for no reason.
* YouKilledMyFather
