[[header:Zubat Line]]

!!Morphs [Oak Catalog #]

* Zubat [#041]
* Golbat [#042]
* Crobat [#169]

!!Notable Biology

Zubat look like ordinary bats, but have blue bodies and, more notably, no eyes or nose on their face; their legs are also thin and floppy, with no discernible feet. Golbat are essentially giant blue disk-shaped bats with large wings, a short pair of legs, small beady eyes, and a huge mouth that covers most of their body surface. They can also cover their bodies with their wings, almost as if they were wearing a cloak, and walk unsteadily along the ground. Crobat are purple spherical bats with larger eyes than Golbat; their mouth is somewhat big, but not as large in proportion to the rest of their bodies as Golbat's, and their tongue is small enough to fit comfortably inside. The most interesting thing about Crobat is that its legs have changed into a second set of wings; this means that Crobat has 4 wings, enabling it to fly at extremely high speeds. The two sets of wings can also be used alternately, with one set of wings flapping while the other rests, to allow the Crobat to fly long distances. However, the Crobat's legs are no longer suitable for use on the ground, and also have a difficult time latching onto walls; this makes it difficult for the Crobat to stop and rest.

!!Habitat

Zubat and Golbat reside in many caves in the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions. They are ''extremely'' common wherever they reside; it's [[GoddamnedBats much harder to avoid Zubats and their relatives than to find them]]. Crobat are notably rarer; while the occasional wild specimen in Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh is not unheard of, there have been no recorded sightings of wild Crobat in Kanto, for reasons that remain unknown.

!!Diet

Zubat, Golbat, and Crobat all drink blood from other Pokémon and humans. Zubat will also hunt insects such as Venonat.

!!Hazards

The primary hazard for the Zubat line is their large numbers; they reproduce quickly and tend to travel in swarms. Swarms of Zubat can easily suck out all of the blood in any human in around ten minutes. It is recommended that trainers keep several Repels with them at all times to avoid this danger.

!!Courting and Childrearing

Outside of captivity, Zubat and Golbat have very short lifespans (around a few weeks); in contrast, Crobat can stay alive for several years. However, few wild Golbat manage to evolve into Crobat, and this means that Zubat and Golbat must reproduce all the time.

!!Social Structure

All members of the line tend to aggregate in large herds for protection. Zubat have a much stronger herding instinct than Golbat and Crobat, which are more solitary in comparison. Usually, Golbat will act as leaders for Zubat herds. Crobat leaders are more rare, but often lead Golbat.

!!Trainer's Notes
Zubat and all members of its line are considered vermin in all regions they are found in. With the exception of Orre, due to its overall lack of life, Zubat and Golbat are always in season and may be freely battled and captured, or even hunted, which some towns actively recommend.

Zubat are frequently caught due to their high numbers, but their fangs must be blunted before they are allowed to participate in official battles. Although the short lifespans of Zubat and Golbat can be problematic, it is relatively easy for a Golbat to evolve into a Crobat in captivity if it is treated with love and affection. Nonetheless, there is a strong stigma against the use of members of the Zubat line due to their status as pests, and thus they are mostly used by beginning trainers with few other Pokémon. Crobat, in particular, are hardly seen in official battles; notable users of Crobat include Elite Four member Koga [[NoLastNameGiven ****]], his daughter Janine of Fuschia City, and the leaders of various crime gangs across Kanto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh.
