!! Physical Description

Solosis is a [[PsychicPowers Psychic-type]] Pokémon. It is .3 meters in diameter, and weighs one kilogram. Its body is made up of two parts. The inner body is a pale green, and resembles two sphere squashed together. Each side of the body bears a single black oval-shaped eye, and there is a small diamond-shaped mouth at the joining of the two sides. A small yellow protrusion resembling a corkscrew protrudes from the top of the left side (this is used as a psychic focus). Solosis is entirely encased in a protective green gel. Solosis’s brain will expand throughout its life, until it begins to split, at which point Solosis will evolve.

Duosion looks very similar to Solosis. It is now .6 meters tall, and weighs eight kilograms. The two sides of its inner body have fused under the mouth (although a cleft remains over the mouth), and now taper off into a small spike at the bottom. The yellow corkscrew protrusion has vanished, and is replaced by a small, pale green dome floating over Duosion’s head (Although still encased in the gel) which acts as a psychic focus. Duosion has also grown a pair of stubs, which resemble arms. The protective gel has grown a small bump over the dome, and two under Duosion, resembling feet.

Upon evolution, Duosion’s brain splits into two parts. However, unlike other multi-brained Pokémon, such as Zweilous, both halves of Duosion’s head are full brains, each with equal control of the body. While this means that Duosion spends a great deal of time floating motionless in the air while its two brains decide what to do, it also means that when Duosion’s brains come to an agreement and work in tandem, its psychic powers are amplified to the level of Pokémon such as Kadabra. By the time Duosion evolves, its brains are in perfect and constant sync.

Reuniclus is now a full meter tall, and weighs 20.1 kilograms. Its inner body now resembles that of a baby, although a pale green. The dome it had as a Duosion has split in two and narrowed out, becoming a pair of thin “horns” (Which serve a similar function to Solosis’s corkscrew and Duosion’s dome as psychic focuses). Pointing out from each arm are four small growths, all floating in the gel. The first and smallest is pale green and seed-shaped, the second is egg-shaped, the third is yellow, but shaped like the second, and the fourth is red, and perfectly spherical. The gel has grown two “Arms,” encasing the growths, each with three stubby fingers. At the base of Reuniclus’s body is a small bump of gel like a tail, and there are two long protrusions of gel surrounding Reuniclus’s horns.

Reuniclus’s brains have fused back together, and grown exponentially. Not only do they take up ninety percent of Reuniclus’s inner body (the extra ten percent processes and disposes of nutrients and handles respiration), the additional floating growths that form Reuniclus’s arms and horns also contain solely brain matter. As a result, Reuniclus are incredibly intelligent Pokémon, exceeded only by the likes of Alakazam.

Members of the Solosis line are, on incredibly rare occasions, found with a pale blue gel instead of green. Reuniclus with the mutation will also have green and turquoise final growths instead of red and yellow. These mutations are incredibly valuable to collectors for their rarity.

!! Notable Biology

The gel surrounding the Solosis line’s bodies is an incredibly important part of their life. It acts as protection from the elements and from injury, and contains most of Solosis’s immune system. As Solosis evolves, more and more of its internal immune system is replaced by brain matter. By the time it has become a Reuniclus, the gel is completely essential to survival, and a Reuniclus that loses its gel will have a short life expectancy. Fortunately, if the gel is only injured, it will grow back over time. This gel also provides a defense against predators, as several test subjects who have tasted it describe it as tasting “Like someone mixed lime Jell-O with dirt,” and predators seem to feel the same way. For these reasons, members of the Solosis line are highly protective of their gel, and frequently very nervous Pokémon (Even when the gel is not necessary to survival, Solosis will become very upset when it is absent. A Solosis interviewed on the subject explained that Solosis view their gel in a similar way to how humans view clothing, and a lack of it is quite embarrassing).

The Solosis line constantly and unconsciously projects a low-grade psychic field, which extends to about an inch from the tip of its gel (although it can be extended by applying a mental push, according the interviewed Solosis). This field has been dubbed, “Tactile Telekinesis,” and the Solosis line uses it for almost everything. First and most importantly, it holds the gel in place. Second, it is the Solosis line’s main method of combat. A Solosis or Duosion will usually extend the field out at an opponent to strike them with telekinetic force. Reuniclus will do this as well, but they will also use the telekinesis to boost their perceived physical strength, delivering blows with their “arms” that can shatter rock. Older members of the Solosis line can even extend the telekinetic field to cover the entire battlefield, altering the defensive abilities of any Pokémon in the vicinity.

When two Reuniclus meet, they will link hands, and share all information they have. Reuniclus’s massive brain allows it to process and store all the information shared. A Reuniclus will never forget anything it knows.

There are three distinct subtypes of the Solosis line. The first, and weakest, can use its tactile telekinesis to repel small projectiles, such as hailstones or grains of sand, although it cannot protect itself from larger objects. The second, in addition to repelling small impacts, uses its gel to rapidly break down toxins and heal minor injuries, protecting the inner body from almost all non-impact-related injury. The third (which is incredibly rare, at almost 1 in 8000) has an incredible healing factor, which rapidly regenerates even damage to the inner body, as long as the Solosis/Duosion/Reuniclus remains inactive. Trainers will use this ability in battle by recalling their Solosis/Duosion/Reuniclus when it is injured; by the time it is sent back out, it will usually have regenerated a great deal.

!! Habitat

Solosis are found primarily around Nimbasa City, on Routes 5 and 16. Upon evolution, the newly evolved Duosion will migrate to Route 9, to the west of Opeleucid.

Reuniclus are extremely rare in Unova. As they spend most of their time thinking in secluded and hard-to-reach areas (and will generally emit a psychic field to deter others from bothering it), only the most dedicated and skilled of Trainers manage to reach them in their homes. The only easily-reachable place where Reuniclus are known to be found is at the entrance to Challenger's Cave, at Route 9. These Reuniclus are usually just evolved, and have not yet migrated to a suitably secluded space.

!! Diet

The Solosis line will eat almost any organic matter (Although they are partial to plants, as they take less effort to find and catch). They will absorb it into their gel, which breaks it down and disposes of the waste.

The Solosis line rarely hunts, but when they do (Individual members occasionally prefer meat over plants), they will catch prey by simply pummeling it to death with psychic bursts.

!! Hazards

The Solosis line are largely peaceful Pokémon, unless provoked. As such, Solosis attacks are few and far between. However, should you incur the anger of a member of the line, a few things to watch out for:

Solosis’s command over its psychic abilities is only equaled by that of the Abra line. Even very young Solosis are capable of firing off small waves of mental static, which can cause extreme pain if listened to for too long. Juvenile Solosis are also capable of making their thoughts reality with a powerful but uncontrollable psychic burst, the strength and typing of which varies, depending on the personality of the Solosis using the attack. As they grow older, their abilities tend towards telekinetic assaults, from a mere psychic “shove,” to a strike that many have compared to being hit by a car. Reuniclus will also incorporate physical combat into their repertoire, handing out blows that can easily crush bones. All members of the line will occasionally propel themselves forward to deliver a powerful tackling attack, which increases in speed and destructive potential over time. Aside from their natural abilities, the Solosis line learns many different [=TMs=], and should you battle a captive member of the line, be prepared for anything. Reuniclus are capable of firing bursts of florokinetic energy, spheres of blinding light, electric bursts, and even tapping into obscura to fire a sphere of darkness.

In addition to offensive abilities, the Solosis line also possesses a wide range of supportive abilities. They can form shields of telekinesis to weaken attacks over time, they can attack an opponent’s mind to affect their judgment and battling ability, and most disturbingly, they seem to be capable of transferring their injuries to another.

[[Trainer’s Note: Should you harm a member of the Solosis line, be prepared to potentially fight it again, as it will never forget you.]]

Fortunately, even if a member of the Solosis line does attack you for whatever reason, it will most likely stop as soon as you cease to be a threat. A Solosis is unlikely to chase after you or continue attacking after you or your Pokémon have already been downed.

!! Courtship and Childrearing

All members of the Solosis line are capable of breeding, although it is most common among Duosion and Reuniclus. The Solosis line is also one of the few lines that frequently breed with Pokémon of a different line, even in the wild (most notably the nearby Yamask line)

The Solosis line breeds by mixing a small amount of information (both genetic and psychic) with a receptive partner (If the partner is a Ghost-type, or is otherwise unable to provide physical genetic information, the mix will be purely psychic). The mother will deposit a blob of cells on the ground and encase it in some of her gel. The cells will grow into an egg and eventually a baby Solosis, so that when the Solosis is born, it will already have some gel to begin with. As the Solosis grows, it will produce more gel out of the food it digests to keep itself covered.
The Solosis line does not care for its children, and in fact is unlikely to ever see them.

!! Social Structure

Solosis form small bands of three to five. These bands will stay together until one of the Solosis evolves, at which point the group will go their separate ways.

Duosion are primarily found in groups of two, and these groups will never be separated (there are, however, numerous instances of solitary Duosion being found). Like with their previous evolutions, Duosion pairs will part ways at evolution (Although evolution to Reuniclus is rare, so these pairs are usually together for life).

Reuniclus are completely solitary. They spend almost their entire lives in complete seclusion, usually in the deepest recesses of a cave or the pinnacle of a mountain (even occasionally at the ocean floor, as their psychic abilities and gel allow them to survive). From time to time (usually around once a year), Reuniclus will migrate to a new position to observe more of the world. This is usually the time when Reuniclus will meet with other members of its line, to share information and mate.

!! In Human Society

Similar to Abra and its evolutions in Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh, the Solosis line is frequently used as a symbol of intelligence. Reuniclus especially are frequently pictured on the walls or front doors of schools, libraries, and other educational buildings, emphasizing the importance of absorbing as much knowledge as one can.

Duosion are seen as symbols of unity, due to their twin brains, and the amplification of their abilities when the brains’ goals unite. Duosion are often placed on banners with a Braviary and a Stoutland, representing the values of unity, bravery, and loyalty.
