Written by Creator/SaoirseParisa, ''Twilight Pretty Cure'' is one of many ''Anime/PrettyCure'' fan series, but unlike most of its predecessors, it's not posted on Website/LiveJournal first, but on Fanfiction.net due to chapters exceeding the page limit.

The aliens who inhabit the planet Rozaniela routinely rescue children from abusive situations and bring them to the planet to be raised in a loving environment where they will not be judged for who they are. But one day a boy named Zenjin steals a powerful jewel known as the Energia and uses it to destroy 80% of Rozaniela. Realising Zenjin is out of control and there is no other way to stop him, Queen Malgorzata gives four fairy sisters magical devices called Heart Lighters and sends them to Earth, telling them to "find humans whose hearts resonate with these Heart Lighters . . . the Pretty Cures." These turn out to be four girls: Riko Tasogare, Anzu Chino, Hotaru Minamigawa and Marina Asagi, who respectively become Cure Twilight (purple), Cure Dawn (yellow), Cure Starlight (blue) and Cure Dusk (orange). The main theme of the story is light.

The story was first published on Fanfiction.net on April 21 2014 and originally had 51 main chapters, plus a few side chapters. However, it became the target of an online backlash from people who felt some of the issues [[note]]rape, victim-blaming and disability[[/note]] it tackled were inappropriate for a ''Anime/PrettyCure'' fanfic, or were not being handled sensitively enough. The author attempted to rewrite the fic to fix the problematic elements, but ended up abandoning it even though several of the revised chapters had yet to be reposted.

All but the first chapter were removed from Fanfiction.net on July 3 2017. As of 8 March 2024, the entire fic has been deleted.

!!This fanfic contains examples of:

%% * AbusiveParents: Anzu's mother is very controlling and traditionalist, though seems to be working on this. [[spoiler: Mana Katsunuma is straight up cruel, subjecting Zenjin to unthinkable abuse since toddlerhood all because she wanted someone to blame for her daughter's death.]]
* AlienAbduction: Riko sees a news report that children and homeless people are vanishing en masse from several different countries (stated to be “China, Russia, Romania, North Korea, Afghanistan and others'') all at once. It turns out to be Queen Malgorzata spiriting them off to Rozaniela.
* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Riko is frequently bullied for her behavior, leaving her friendless for the first chapter of the story.
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: Seven-year-old Rina is portrayed as this to Riko, but not so much Hikage as they don’t have many scenes together. In both versions she’s introduced throwing a Barbie at Riko and calling her ''weird.'' Riko’s reaction suggests this is a regular occurrence, and she’s not happy about it.
* ArtisticLicenseEducation:
** Riko and her classmates travel from room to room for different classes, like an American school. In Japan, the students stay in one homeroom and it’s the teachers who rotate.
** Riko’s middle school has recess, with a blacktop and playground, much like an elementary school. As any middle-schooler will tell you, this grade level does not have recess.
** No uniforms are worn at all, with students wearing street clothes, nor are they even mentioned. While non-uniform schools do exist in Japan, they are still far outnumbered by uniformed ones, and there is no mention made of Riko’s previous schools having a uniform either.
* AttackAttackRetreatRetreat: A furious Sunbeam launches herself at Zenjin, intending to attack him herself and avenge Rozaniela. After he fires energy beams at her, she quickly returns to the queen’s side.
* BigSisterBully: Inverted with seven-year-old Rina, who calls her big sister Riko weird, throws a Barbie at her, and tells her to act normal. Riko thinks to herself that Rina is just as bad as the bullies in school.
* BloodierAndGorier: Compared to canon, this story featured blood early on. Queen Malgorzata is described as having bloody scrapes and cuts all over her body from Zenjin’s attack in the opening, and Sunbeam and Starbeam are also covered in bloody scratches when Riko finds them in her backyard. She has to take them to the bathroom and bandage them heavily to stop the bleeding.
%% * BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: The girls manage to save the world, and life goes on, but at a price. Both Zenjin and Mana die from their excessive usage of the Energia, many others have died long before then, Kyoya has to live life permanently paralyzed and having lost a long long member of his family, Kayoko lost the son she had been searching for her whole life, and the King and Queen of Rozaniela have to reconsider their way of doing things on their planet so as to prevent the same tragedy from repeating itself.]]
* BraidsBeadsAndBuckskins: Queen Malgorzata dresses in this fashion, described as wearing a ''refined, Navajo Indian-styled clothes.'' Notable in that she is not intended to be Navajo, but is rather an alien from the outer-dimensional planet Rozaniela.
* ByThePowerOfGrayskull: "Pretty Cure, let the light shine!"
* EveryScarHasAStory: Marina has a large scar on her cheek, caused by a victim of her father attacking her with a garden trowel, out of misplaced revenge for losing her life savings.
* TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry: Rina and Riko, an elementary-schooler and middle-schooler respectively. Rina is extroverted, Riko is introverted; they are constantly at odds with one another, Rina throwing toys and calling Riko names while Riko rolls her eyes and ignores her.
** In a written up opening sequence, Rina is introduced by walking into the living room where Riko is coloring and giving her ''a mean look.”
* LargeHam: Zenjin has a loud, maniacal laugh, goes on length villain speeches, and generally acts very loud and boisterous. It’s said that this is a clear contrast to how he used to be.
%%* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Beileag,]] as of episode 26.
* KindheartedCatLover: Riko, big time. She absolutely adores cats to the point of owning fake cat ears and tails, having two cats of her own (Caroline and Reese), gives her fictional characters cat features, and even has cat ears and a tail in Cure form.
* LightEmUp: Since the motif of the series is light, it's par for the course that the girls have light based powers and abilities.
* PlayingWithFire: Cures Dawn and Dusk have fire powers, though they use them differently, resulting in them manifesting differently.
* NewTransferStudent: Riko is this, as her family has recently moved to Hikaribashi and had taken a short time to settle in before sending their children to their new school.
* RecruitTeenagersWithAttitude: Malgorzata tells the fairies to do just that, urging them to take the Heart Lighters to Earth and find four people who can become Pretty Cure and stand against Zenjin. When one of the fairies argues that none of them know what makes one qualify, Malgorzata says it doesn’t matter right now.
-> '''Malgorzata:''' I don't care who it is, how old they are, how incapable they are, whatever! As long as their hearts resonate with these Heart Lighters...then they can help us.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: The four mascots, who are all small, fluffy, and described as looking like cute stuffed animals.
* SinsOfTheFather: Marina is ostracized at school and has been physically assaulted and harassed due to her father, a corrupt politician, embezzling huge amounts of money and leaving many citizens broke. Her scar is even caused by a victim of her father’s using her as a proxy of her father.
* TeensAreMonsters: The BigBad, Zenjin, is only fifteen years old, just a few years older than Riko. His first scene is him laughing as Rozaniela is decimated and taking pleasure in its destruction and trying to kill the fairies, with the same fairies later telling Riko how horrible he acts.
* ThemeNaming: The four fairies all have ''beam'' at the end of their names; Lovebeam, Moonbeam, Sunbeam, and Starbeam.
* ThenLetMeBeEvil: The reason Marina bullies everyone is because everyone already assumes she’s a bad kid based on who her father is, so she thinks why bother trying to prove them wrong and just be who they expect her to be?
%% * RaceAgainstTheClock: Decebal explains that the girls have exactly an hour to purify any Corrupt Sentinels or the person will die.
%% * SickEpisode: Episode 11, where Sunbeam is sick from a combination of both culture shock and stress from Zenjin's betrayal.
* TransformationTrinket: The Heart Lighters, star shaped perfume bottles in different colors.
