!!Tropes for the videos as a whole:
* AnachronicOrder: The games adapted by the episodes aren't in their original order of release.
** Episode 1 adapts Touhou 6: ''Embodiment of Scarlet Devil'' in the opening[[labelnote:*]]but the theme song comes from Touhou 10: ''Mountain of Faith'',[[/labelnote]] and Touhou 7: ''Perfect Cherry Blossom'' in the rest of the episode. [[spoiler:It also has Sanae appearing at the end, even though ''Perfect Cherry Blossom'' takes place long before her debut in ''Mountain of Faith''.]]
** Episodes 2-4 adapt Touhou 11: ''Subterranean Animism'' in their openings. Their FramingDevice is set after ''Subterranean Animism'', but the episodes are mostly flashbacks to Touhou 6: ''Embodiment of Scarlet Devil''.
** The first of the unused trailers/openings is based on Touhou 9: ''Phantasmagoria of Flower View''.
** The second unused trailer is based on Touhou 8: ''Imperishable Night''.
* AnimationBump: For a fanime, Manpuku Jinja does not cut corners in animation nor the quality of art used in animation. This series has backgrounds comparable in quality to those of ''Anime/MusouKakyouASummerDaysDream'', with more detailed character designs by [[http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=141357 Lunamoon]].
* BareYourMidriff: How Reimu's and Sanae's costumes are depicted.
* BeamSpam: This fanime depicts danmaku combat in this way, in contrast to most others that use the FullContactMagic approach.
* BlushSticker: Many of the more childlike characters are given these.
* ButtMonkey: Cirno.
** Aya doesn't get treated very well in episode 2.
* {{Cliffhanger}}: [[spoiler:Episodes 2 and 3 end with these.]]
* DemotedToExtra: Since the fanime is a CompressedAdaptation of the plots of the games, this usually happens to lower-level bosses.
** In episode 1, Letty's fight against Marisa happens entirely offscreen, and the Prismriver Sisters simply let Marisa pass without fighting her. Sakuya only appears to tell Reimu to go deal with the incident, instead of taking a direct role in events like she does in the game.
** In episode 3, Rumia flies right past Reimu and [[WatchOutForThatTree crashes into a tree]], and Reimu quickly takes out Meiling with a CurbStompBattle.
* FishingForSole: Suwako pulls a sandal out of a fishing hole in one of the intros.
* {{Gainaxing}}: When characters with average or above sized breasts appear -- such as Yuyuko, Yuugi, Aya or Sanae -- you can expect them to bounce about if they as much as turn around.
* GivingSomeoneThePointerFinger: Marisa is fond of this, having pointed at Reimu, Youmu, and Patchouli.
* GrumpyBear: Reimu's characterization in this series.
* HotBlooded: Marisa, a LargeHam who is also prone to {{Badass Boast}}ing.
* IBelieveICanFly: As is the standard for ''Touhou''.
* IcyBlueEyes: Sakuya is given these in this series. Especially noticeable in the trailer for the second episode of the Scarlet Devil series.
* InstantRunes: The energy balls that are characteristic of danmaku are created through these in this series.
* MundaneUtility:
** Marisa regards the breeze from Cirno's Icicle Fall attack as pleasantly cool for a hot summer's day rather than treating it like an actual threat.
** Yukari's solution for not joining the Moriya Shrine party is to use her gaps to steal sake from it while she lounges in the hot spring.
* NeverTrustATrailer: The time and effort into making full-length episodes results in Manpuku Jinja's animations being music videos more than anime.
* RedOniBlueOni: Marisa and Reimu.
* SceneryPorn
* ShoutOut: The names of the episodes reference American films.
** [[Film/DrStrangelove "The Ordinary Magician or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Kotatsu"]]
** [[Film/InterviewWithTheVampire "Interview Without the Vampire"]]
* StealthHiBye: Yukari is fond of doing this.
* SupportingProtagonist: While [[AntiHero Reimu]] is still the focus of the [=PVs=] and is the one who solves the incidents in the end, the episodes themselves tend to focus more on [[{{Deuteragonist}} Marisa]] and the incidents are usually witnessed from her point of view.
* ThemeTuneCameo: All of the music, sung or as [[http://www.youtube.com/user/igozuvi/videos?query=Fantasy+Kaleidoscope+OST soundtracks]], originate from the games. Some are less recognizable than others, such as Yukari's "Necrofantasia" written in a major scale in "The Red Mist Incident".
* [[ManOfAThousandVoices Woman of a Thousand Voices]]: The Japanese fandubs are recorded by ''one'' actress, Pika Aizawa, performing voices for every single character.
** Episode 1 has 9 different voices: Marisa, Reimu, Youmu, Yuyuko, Cirno, Sakuya, Remilia, Aya and [[spoiler:Sanae]].
** Episode 2 adds 13 voices: Suwako, Kanako, Nitori, Alice, Daiyousei, Patchouli, Koakuma, Flandre, Satori, Rin, Utsuho, Yukari and Suika.
** Episode 3 adds 4 voices: Ran, Chen, Rumia and Meiling.

!!Tropes for "The Spring Snow Incident" include:
* AdaptationDistillation: "The Spring Snow Incident" is a short episode compared to the game, so the battles are shortened and some events are truncated.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: Sakuya asks Reimu, "I wonder, if someone dies in the Netherworld, will she rest in peace?", leaving Reimu to consider if she would leave Marisa at Yuyuko's expense because of her laziness.
* BigDamnHeroes: Reimu and Marisa save Spring, the season. In a more direct application of this trope, Reimu flies in just in time to save Marisa from Yuyuko's danmaku attack.
* {{Bizarrchitecture}}: How Mayohiga is depicted as Marisa [[ScoobyDoobyDoors chases Chen around]] in it.
* BystanderSyndrome: Reimu... initially.
* CallForward: Marisa's complaint about hearing youkai underestimating humans again refers to Patchouli's similar comment in the next episode.
* EmptyEyes: Although Yuyuko has pupils and shading in her irises, she's the only character who doesn't have white reflections in her eyes. This is probably to emphasize that she's a ghost.
* GracefulLoser: Yuyuko, just before Reimu defeats her with Fantasy Seal.
* ImpossibleThief: How can you steal ''Spring?''
* ItsAllUpstairsFromHere: The path to the Netherworld.
* RammingAlwaysWorks: Marisa overcomes Youmu's swordsmanship by ramming her with her broom.
* SarcasmMode: Reimu's apology to Marisa for not realizing that the cold weather was an incident. Fansubbers translate this line in a variety of ways.
* ShoutOut: Marisa says [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure "Yare yare da ze"]][[note]]approximately "Oh, gimme a break"[[/note]] when she sees the Netherworld's giant staircase. Probably not coincidental considering Marisa's "-da ze" VerbalTic is itself inspired by Jojo.
* TheStinger: [[spoiler: Sanae appears in the epilogue thanks to Yukari.]]
* ThemeMusicPowerUp: Reimu gets this when she rescues Marisa from Yuyuko.
* WhatTheHellHero: Sakuya gives a very mild version to Reimu for not going out to deal with the incident.
* XanatosGambit: [[spoiler: Even though Yuyuko's plan to make the Saigyou Ayakashi blossom failed, at least it provided a distraction to allow Sanae to enter Gensokyo]].

!! Tropes for "The Red Mist Incident Part 1" include:

* BigFancyHouse: The Scarlet Devil Mansion is depicted here as looking exactly like the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_Frontenac Château Frontenac]] with the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Ben Elizabeth Tower]] grafted onto it.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Utsuho, as she's seen partying at the Moriya shrine following the events of ''Subterranean Animism'' with her wings shrunken down and her third leg not present on her right arm.
* TheCameo: Over 30 ''Touhou'' characters are visible at the Moriya shrine.
* CatSmile: [[CatGirl Rin]], of course, and Koakuma have one.
* CreepyChild: Flandre, who asks Marisa to play with her because she always breaks her toys. To drive it even further home, she squeezes her teddy bear so hard that its head bursts.
* {{Fangirl}}: What Koakuma is portrayed as towards Patchouli.
* FramingDevice: Marisa is retelling the events of ''Embodiment of Scarlet Devil'' to Sanae while everyone is partying at the Moriya shrine after ''Subterranean Animism''.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Nitori doesn't just fold paper airplanes, she folds paper ''spaceships''.
** Quite a few things at the party in general, including Komachi being lectured by Eiki, or Tewi taking Reisen's portion of food.
* LaughingMad: Flandre when Marisa agrees to play with her.
* LipLock: Fandubs make it quite noticeable that dialogue isn't paced alongside the animation. Cirno's rant after being brushed aside by Marisa, in particular, stands out for being rushed.
* LittleMissSnarker: With the setting being post-''Subterranean Animism'', Nitori is in top form.
** LaserGuidedKarma: Her remark about the Moriyas constantly causing incidents gets her punted through the roof by Kanako.
* [[MadwomanInTheAttic Madwoman in the Basement]]: Flandre, naturally. This adaptation expands on it.
* AnOddPlaceToSleep: Flandre sleeps in a coffin that's placed on a bed--that is, if she were present.
* RedSkyTakeWarning: Created as part of Remilia's plan.
* RepeatCut: As Marisa presents her mini-Hakkero to Patchouli.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Cirno repeatedly boasts about her power to Marisa before Marisa flies to the Scarlet Devil Mansion, only to get ignored at every opportunity.
** Patchouli plans on cutting Marisa's ego down to size after Marisa boasts that normal humans can use magic too and that she'll exterminate the lot of them by herself.
* SomethingAboutARose: A rose motif frequently appears as decoration in the Scarlet Devil Mansion, including the lid of Flandre's coffin.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Marisa proves to be a minor one to the Scarlet Devil Mansion crew, as she forces Patchouli out to subdue Flandre.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: Reimu is apparently sharp enough to know when she's being spied on by Yukari, who wants to party with the rest, but isn't comfortable around [[AMindIsATerribleThingToRead Sat]][[PowerIncontinence ori]].

!! Tropes for "The Red Mist Incident Part 2" include:

* AllOfTheOtherReindeer: Sakuya seems to be under the mindset that, with her time powers, she would be feared by the humans living in Gensokyo if she were to reveal them. Reimu is quick to point out that those sorts of powers are a dime a dozen in Gensokyo, however.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: The {{fanservice}} provided by Yukari, Ran and Chen soaking in the hot spring is limited to this.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: Marisa showing Flandre some pity and affection is all the latter needs to [[spoiler:pull a HeelFaceTurn and team up with her against Remilia]].
* CatsHateWater: Chen is very reluctant to get into the hot spring. [[SuperDrowningSkills And for good reason.]]
* CoolBigSis: In this continuity, it's not Remilia who acts like this toward Flandre, but Marisa. Justified since in the original story, Remilia's take on the relationship between herself and Flandre isn't known, and Marisa being Flandre's friend is widely-accepted in fanon.
* DidYouDie: Sanae tearfully asks Marisa this after the {{cliffhanger}} from the previous episode. Reimu provides the obligatory LampshadeHanging about what a stupid question this is.
* FightUnscene: Between Marisa vs. Patchouli and Reimu vs. Sakuya, few attacks are seen directly; even during Sakuya's attacks, animation doesn't go all out, as her time-stopping capabilities fill in.
* FlamingSword: Flandre's Laevatein, which she creates out of fire itself [[spoiler: before confronting Remilia]]. This is consistent with the way Laevatein is described in ''[[AllThereInTheManual The Grimoire of Marisa]]''.
* FlechetteStorm: Sakuya creates [[http://oi39.tinypic.com/281xawn.png a very dense field of knives]] in front of Reimu. [[spoiler: Unfortunately for Sakuya, [[NoIAmBehindYou that's not actually Reimu she's targeting]].]]
* ImplacableMan: [[spoiler:After Sakuya falls into Reimu's trap, Reimu is absolutely ruthless in taking her down.]]
* NeverBringAKnifeToAGunFight: Like in most fanworks, martial artist Meiling + giant laser danmaku = one very smokey gatekeeper and one very destroyed gate. [[spoiler:The only difference from the status quo is that it's ''Reimu'' who fires the giant laser instead of Marisa, since the latter had already snuck into the mansion.]]
* NinjaLog: [[spoiler:Reimu creates an illusory duplicate of herself with her {{Paper Talisman}}s and tricks Sakuya into stabbing it.]]
* SlasherSmile: '''REMILIA.'''
* TroubledFetalPosition: Flandre stays in one while trapped in the water sphere while Marisa and Patchouli fight.
* WeaksauceWeakness: [[spoiler:Being able to stop time isn't helpful if you can't even ''move'', Sakuya.]]
