{{Eldritch Abomination}}s in {{Anime}} and {{Manga}}.
----
* The [[PhysicalGod Gods]] and [[OurDemonsAreDifferent Demons]] from ''Manga/AhMyGoddess'' are shown to be this. Though they mostly look like humans (some of them, notably Urd and Peorth, are vain and prefer looking like humans), they assume those forms when they come to grant a wish to humans because [[YouCannotGraspTheTrueForm their true forms are incomprehensible]].
* In ''LightNovel/{{Baccano}}!'', the "demon" summoned on the Advena Avis, [[spoiler:Ronnie Schiatto]], is heavily implied to be closer to this than an actual demon. [[spoiler: It's also implied that he WasOnceAMan.]]
* ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'' has [[spoiler:[[GodIsEvil The Idea of Evil]]]], who created and rules over the Godhand. That being said, they subvert the aspect of a traditional cosmic horror in that, unlike the normally unfeeling monstrosity you expect, they are intimately connected to and interested with humanity. [[CrapsackWorld This]] [[DealWithTheDevil isn't a]] [[WasOnceAMan good thing.]]
* Raphaello from ''[[Anime/BtX B't X]]'' is a homebrew version of this: amorphous, constantly growing, NighInvulnerable, and assimilating everything in its path.
* ''LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex''
** "The Invisible Thing" sealed inside [[spoiler:Touma, which is released if his right hand is ever cut off]]. Whatever it is, it is so powerful that a guy claiming to be more powerful than ''{{God}}'' was terrified of it, and nobody in the world seems to have any understanding of what it is, except maybe Creator/AleisterCrowley, and he's not telling.
** DRAGON, aka [[spoiler:Aiwass]]. It looks sort of like an angel, but it sure doesn't act like one, nor talk like one. All that is known is that it is an infinitely powerful, immortal, and incorporeal existence. It has only been attacked once, by Accelerator, and it [[spoiler:[[CurbStompBattle stomped him flat in no time]] with its unconscious defenses. Even Accelerator admits that he has no idea [[YouCannotGraspTheTrueForm exactly what it did to him when it attacked]].]]
* ''Manga/{{Claymore}}''
** [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin The Destroyer]]. Born from the FusionDance of two powerful beings, it has no sense of self or even attachment to life and expelled all of its emotion when it awoke, which was described as "life itself spilling out" by one of the spectators. Its true form is a black, shapeshifting tar-like mass of bodies that sucks out the life from anything it touches, and its energy is described as otherwordly and overwhelming. It also shoots things that either [[BodyHorror infect those they hit]] or turn into monsters.
** Priscilla, the strongest damn thing in the whole setting. In 3'rd Extra Chapter Rigardo observing Priscilla came to realization that [[spoiler:her physical body (including her [[OneWingedAngel demon form]]), as absurdly powerful as it is, is little more than a shell that merely [[SealedEvilInACan contains an infinite chaotic raw power waiting to be released]]. On rare occasions when we see her damaged a mass of deformed tentacles pours out from the wound to devour everything in their path before reforming as the missing body part.]]
* Emperor Muge Zorbados, the BigBad of SuperRobot series ''{{Dancougar}}''.
* The Shinigami King from ''Manga/DeathNote'' was never seen in the anime. But a brief flashback in the manga reveals he looks like ''[[http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080430212320/deathnote/images/b/bd/King_of_Death.jpg this]]''.
* {{God}} in ''{{Devilman}}''. We don't see how he/she/it really looks like, but its chosen form is apparently [[LightIsNotGood a huge sphere of light]] [[BrownNote that kills any demon in its reach]] and [[MythologyGag turns any human who gets too close to it into salt]]. Plus [[spoiler: {{Satan}} suffering a breakdown just from looking at it on TV]]. Which is understandable, since the reason why the ''Devilman''-[[TheVerse verse]] in all its incarnations is [[CrapsackWorld such a Happy Fun Place]] is because [[spoiler:God has total control over the cycle of death and rebirth of the universe [[GodIsEvil and uses it for the sole purpose of torturing Satan by crushing and ruining all he cares about over and over and over]]]].
* ''Franchise/{{Digimon}}''
** The D-Reaper from ''Anime/DigimonTamers'', a data-disposal program that got plugged into cosmic power. To fulfill its objective, a null-state for everything, it mutated into more and more alien forms, all inspired by the Franchise/CthulhuMythos (mixed correspondingly with designs of the Angels from ''[[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Evangelion]]''). Unique in that it got ''worse'' when it became aware of humans as entities; it tapped into the agony and pain of ''one little girl'', amplifying and becoming TheHeartless and quite, quite insane by anyone's standard. It is both artificial and technological in origin, which is extremely rare.
** [[http://www.deviantart.com/download/113193278/Megidramon_by_apocastasis.jpg Guilmon's first Mega form, Megidramon]]. Guilmon started off as a friendly {{kaiju}}, but his 'natural' 'Mega' form is such an abomination that its very existence tears apart both the digital and real worlds. (Megidramon is one of the most powerful Digimon in ''any'' of the digital universes).
** Apocalymon from ''Anime/DigimonAdventure'', a twisted mutant whose body is attached to an enormous geometric planetoid, and is composed of the data of Digimon who died failing to digivolve. He also seems to reside outside the Digital World proper (coming from beyond the "Wall of Fire") and his very presence in the Digital World warped it, causing its [[YearInsideHourOutside time to flow at a different rate to the Real World]] and also causing the creation of powerful evil Digimon.
** The ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'' episode where Kari gets taken by weird fishlike Digimon to [[EldritchLocation the Dark Ocean]] is a rather obvious reference to the Mythos. They want to give Kari over to their master, Dagomon (who, despite being seen only as a shadowy form, is eerily similar to Cthulhu), and when she refuses, those fish Digimon change into shadowy... ''things'' that may not be Digimon at all. Well, the episode just happens to be named ''[[ShoutOut The Call of Dagomon]]''.
** Others include as Chaosmon, Chronomon Destroyer Mode, and Lucemon.
** The virus-infected Cherubimon from the ''Supreme Evolution! The Golden Digimentals'' movie (or the final part of ''Digimon: TheMovie'', if you prefer), a psychotic mass of hate whose sheer existence warps space and is capable of bending time to his will. He is capable of regenerating virtually ad infinitum, and his insides are a chaotic pulsating mass of... something... filled with black spheres which represent the virus infecting him. Oh, and he's capable of appearing inside his own body somehow.
** Arkadimon from ''Manga/{{Digimon V-Tamer 01}}''. It can't talk, only [[TheUnintelligible making creepy sounds]], is far more powerful thananything of its own [[EvolutionaryLevels level]], and evolves much more quickly than it should by absorbing all of other Digimon's data.
** Millenniumon takes the Digimon cake. It started out as a fairly standard, if super powerful, fusion of two ordinary digimon, but quickly transformed into some bizarre EnergyBeing Dragon thing that is pulsating out of a rift with a few rows of data keeping its power in check. It was so enormously powerful that the entire digimon multiverse (that includes all the seasons, games, and manga) was about to be conquered or destroyed, depending. The only way they beat it was it willingly choosing to trap itself by fusing with a weaker digimon.
*** [[DownerEnding And even then, it was only a temporary measure]]: All the Jogress did was seal [[MultiversalConqueror ZeedMillenniumon]] in a physical body, and require him to spend a few years before he could regain his mega-form.
* The Ghoul from ''DivergenceEve'', bizarre extradimensional maybe-biomechanical space monsters whose presence screws with space-time something fierce.
* ''Anime/DragonBallZ''
** Majin Buu. This bizarre pink genie creature has terrorized the universe, cowed the gods themselves, can transform you into ''conscious'' food while eating you alive, or absorb you by using its own malleable flesh to break off and consume you as it reintegrates with him and transforms into a new form, [[TheAssimilator taking some of the traits of the victims]] (this happened to ''God''), and, sufficiently enraged, he can ''tear down dimensions''.
** Janemba, a demon that was created by the pure evil energy of all the souls who have gone to hell from the last thousand years. He transforms from a ChaoticNeutral childish RealityWarper to a ChaoticEvil OmnicidalManiac, similar to kid Buu but in a big red devil form. His power is so great he was able to transform hell into a sugar bowl.
* The Novas of ''Manga/{{Freezing}}''. Their CombatTentacles and [[WaveMotionGun Wave Motion Guns]] aside, how they can [[spoiler: crush and subvert Pandoras]] is down right terrifying. They are NighInvulnerable even against [[AmazonBrigade Pandoras]] (which are humanity's only defense against them), [[HeroKiller leaving corpses and dismemberment in their wake]], but what ''really'' makes them frightening is how they can [[spoiler:''brainwash'' the Pandoras.]]
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist''
** Pride, when he isn't [[spoiler:masquerading as a little boy]], is a [[LivingShadow colossal mass of shadows]] filled with eyes and mouths, often morphing into innumerable CombatTentacles, that could only be damaged by [[spoiler:essentially straining him through the Gate of Truth]]. Gluttony is [[spoiler:a "fake" Gate of Truth]], essentially a black hole that can suck in an infinite amount of matter (there's a reason he's hungry all of the time). Envy seems to be this, with a OneWingedAngel form that resembles a huge chimera covered in the screaming faces of the people who make up his Philosopher's Stone, [[spoiler:but his true form is small and pathetic.]]
** Their creator, Father, even more so. He originally looked like a black blob with eyes in a flask. Then he got a copy of [[spoiler:Hohenheim]]'s body that was actually a living Philosopher's Stone [[spoiler:made of hundreds of thousands of souls]]. Then he turned into a living blob of shadow covered with eyes and mouths that assumes a mostly human form. ''Then'' in [[WhamEpisode Chapter 104]], after [[spoiler:activating the nationwide transmutation circle and absorbing the souls of everyone in Amestris]], Father transforms into an immense, nightmarish creature, which he uses to [[spoiler:rip the Gate of Truth from the sky and cross the BishounenLine to become a PhysicalGod.]]
** The GateOfTruth, which is a giant floating Necronomicon with a giant eye inside that spews black tentacles and that gives eldritch lore [[EquivalentExchange in return for sacrificing your limbs or others' souls]]. It's guarded by a being that calls itself [[HumanoidAbomination the Truth]], which appears to be nothing more than an empty white ''void'' in the shape of you... Unless you go through the gate and are forced to pay a toll, in which case he begins to fill himself in with ''your stolen body parts''. Every time Ed sees The Truth, it has his arm and leg. Add the constant [[SlasherSmile too-wide grin]] and he's unnerving in his own way.
* ''Manga/GetterRobo'': A HumongousMecha work of KenIshikawa gave us another eldritch abomination. It is immensely powerful. Its sheer size dwarfs planets. Its mere passing destroys worlds. It is told it is able to devour a whole universe. One single beam of its can blow to cosmic dust a planet and its fist can crush tears in the fabric of time-space. Vast armies have tried destroying it, only to be easily obliterated in turn without even managing to damage it slightly. Its name? [[spoiler:[[http://www.mangareader.net/shin-getter-robo/9/21 Getter]] [[http://www.mangareader.net/shin-getter-robo/9/23 Emperor]],]] the final evolution of [[spoiler:Getter Robo.]] [[http://www.mangareader.net/shin-getter-robo/7/57 The narration goes as far as to state]]: "The voice that quakes the universe itself was indeed that of [[spoiler:Ryoma Nagare]]"
* ''Anime/GunBuster''
** The [[StarfishAlien Space Monsters]] are huge, mysterious, hatch from stars, and possibly [[KillAllHumans see mankind as a bacterial infection]] in the universe. The only thing that has kept us safe is [[PunyEarthlings not being noticed]], but we just had to [[TemptingFate keep poking into outer space]]. The [[spoiler:center of our galaxy is full of them]], [[IgnoranceIsBliss whatever that implies]]. To top it off, this is just the first batch encountered. Black holes merely [[SealedEvilInACan trap them]], and they will eventually [[spoiler:adapt to and take over that environment]]. Even after the [[SuperRobot ridiculously]] [[MomentOfAwesome awesome]] [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu victories]] [[spoiler:in the original, humanity had to [[BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu give up the fight]], ban all technology that could get the Monsters' attention, and safely hole up in the solar system.]] It bought time... against [[spoiler:[[FightingAShadow mere remnants]] of the original. [[ApocalypseHow Sacrificing the Earth]] would trap them again, while the means to [[DeaderThanDead actually kill them]] [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt endangers the entire universe]]. Which even gives us a healthy side order of HeWhoFightsMonsters, especially as mankind is evolving to resemble them.]]
** Taken as canon, the axed manga that would happen in between supplies plenty of reasons for the sequel's scenario. If the creatures so far are mere space antibodies, then the [[spoiler:Great Attractor]] turns out to be the [[NoSuchThingAsSpaceJesus conscious will of]] [[GeniusLoci the universe]]. Being able to crush star systems with a thought is bad enough, but its body exists on a higher dimension that humans and their technology [[YouCannotGraspTheTrueForm cannot perceive through]]. And it has long ago shed that to become [[SufficientlyAdvancedAlien God knows what]].
* ''LightNovel/HaiyoreNyarkoSan'', a RomanticComedy parody of the CthulhuMythos with [[MoeAnthropomorphism moe]] versions of the Old Ones. The opening theme for the second season even has "Cosmic Horror" (in GratuitousEnglish) in the lyrics. Of course, the main characters usually only take human forms; this is [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] when the human lead Mahiro says he [[ExpectingSomeoneTaller expected Nyarlathotep to look more horrific and less like a cute girl]]. She offers to show him her more monstrous forms, but warns that it'll probably destroy his sanity, so he declines.
* The manga ''Hakaiju'' appears to be a condensed collection of different alien atrocities wrapped together in one CosmicHorrorStory in the form of a mysterious earthquake that leaves high school basketball player Takashiro fighting for his survival. The first chapter has the unlucky protagonist encountering what is a writhing mass of alien, three-fingered hands with biting mouths at their tips [[http://mangafox.me/manga/hakaijuu/v01/c001/46.html which, as later panels shows]], are only appendages of the least menacing ones. And there[[http://mangafox.me/manga/hakaijuu/v01/c001/68.html are creatures like this]].
* ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya'':
** The Data Integration Thought Entity, Yuki's boss, is a non-physical data lifeform that exists outside of normal space-time. It lacks the ability to communicate with language, so it created Humanoid Interfaces to interact with humanity on its behalf. Its goals and motivations are unclear, despite Yuki's attempts to explain, only that it is interested in Haruhi Suzumiya. Yuki also mentions that any human who sees it would [[BrownNote die of information overload]].
** Then you've got the Cloud Canopy Domain, a data lifeform similar to Yuki's boss, but completely alien and unknowable even to them. Their first attempt at a conversation involved trapping the Brigade in a pocket dimension, and they eventually create a truly alien Humanoid Interface that makes [[TheStoic Yuki]] look like a perfectly normal GenkiGirl. At least the Data Overmind's interfaces can pass for human most of the time; [[spoiler:Kuyou Suou]] is so profoundly inhuman that normal people simply ''[[WeirdnessCensor will not]]'' acknowledge her existence unless forced to.
** The Celestials are giant glowing blue manifestations of Haruhi's frustrations with the world. They appear only in her "closed space", and serve no other purpose than to destroy everything in the surrounding area. If left unchecked, the closed space expands, and could [[EndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt destroy the universe]]
** Heck, even Haruhi [[spoiler:and Sasaki]] herself could be an example, if she's not an outright Physical God.
* The short manga called ''Manga/HellstarRemina'' by JunjiIto contains the titular Remina... a gigantic, [[PlanetEater planet eating]] [[ThatsNoMoon star]] that has [[EyesDoNotBelongThere EYES AND A TONGUE!]] AND IT SPINS THE EARTH LIKE A LITTLE TOY! Also, the surface of the star itself can be described as nothing more than an EldritchLocation (with a(n un)healthy side of DeathWorld).
* ''{{Heroman}}'' has Vine Monsters in one episode that seem to evoke this trope; as it turns out, [[spoiler: the Vines are of Alien origin and a part of the BigBad, Kogorr, who is himself an Eldritch Abomination when he's gotten the spheres he sent back to himself; he's also eaten several worlds, and we're shown the worlds he had consumed.]]
* ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha''
** ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaAs'' has the [[DarkIsEvil Darkness of the Book of Darkness]], an immortal, dimension-hopping, dimension-breaking, constantly morphing, bio-mechanical monstrosity that appears when you fill up all [[NumberOfTheBeast 666 pages]] of the [[ArtifactOfDoom Book of Darkness]]. If you manage to temporarily kill it, it will only rejuvenate in another dimension, where it will tempt another mage to fill up the pages of the Book of Darkness again, allowing it to be unsealed and go on another rampage. ''Manga/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaVivid'' showed through flashbacks that, during the time of the Ancient Belka War when it was most active, doomsday cults worshipped it as a god. However, when we actually see her personality she's shown to be a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds, literally. Her original programming was corrupted, and she can't control her own actions, making her a more benign example.
** ''VideoGame/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaAsPortable: The Gears Of Destiny'' revealed that the Book of Darkness was originally created by the {{Precursors}} as a [[SealedEvilInACan seal]] for an even ''worse'' Abomination called the Unbreakable Darkness.
* Brain-eater Neuro from ''Manga/MajinTanteiNougamiNeuro'' to an extent. A parrot/triceratops humanoid demon that eats the energy from puzzles.
* Several of them showed up in the Mazinger trilogy (''Anime/MazingerZ'', ''Anime/GreatMazinger'', and ''Anime/UFORoboGrendizer''), often overlapping with GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: GodEmperor Great Emperor of Darkness, [[spoiler:also known as Hades]] (BigBad from ''GreatMazinger''), Gilgilgan (of the Great Mazinger vs Getter Robo movie), Grangen (of the Great Mazinger vs Getter Robo G feature), Dragonsaurus (of Grendizer, Getter Robot G, Great Mazinger: Kessen! Daikaijuu movie), Varon the Annihilator (BigBad of ''Super Robot Retsuden'')... and, in the ''Anime/ShinMazingerZero'' manga, [[spoiler:Mazinger Z itself.]]
* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'': The Ten-Tails[[note]][[IHaveManyNames also referred to as the One-Eyed God, Daidarabotchi, Datara, or Shinju]][[/note]] is so immensely powerful even the other Tailed Beasts consider it a monster. Like them it is formed of pure energy, but unlike them it lacks any emotion or ideals. The {{Big Bad}}'s plan is to revive the Ten-Tails by [[spoiler:sealing the Tailed Beasts, who were created from its chakra, into the Statue of Outer Sealing, the Ten-Tail's body]]. It is revealed that the Ten-Tails was created when [[spoiler:Kaguya fused her body into the Shinju, infusing it with her desire to claim all chakra for herself]].
* Franchise/{{Nasuverse}}
** The Ultimate Ones, embodiments of the planets, which hit nearly every point of this trope. Although the specifics vary, they are typically [[AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever enormous]], [[NighInvulnerability unkillable]], [[RealityWarper alter the fundamental nature of reality in their vicinity]] just by ''existing'', and have [[BlueAndOrangeMorality thought processes that are completely incomprehensible]] to us PunyEarthlings. Oh, and the reason they came to Earth at all was [[KillAllHumans to wipe out humanity]] [[GaiasVengeance as revenge for killing Gaia.]]
** Some of the [[OurVampiresAreDifferent Dead Apostle Ancestors]], such as the [[WhenTreesAttack Forest of Einnashe]], [[SavageWolves Primate Murder]], and [[TheHeartless Tatari]], which makes sense, given that vampires in the Nasuverse originate from Brunestud of the Crimson Moon, which is one of the Ultimate Ones, although it is rather more [[HumanoidAbomination human in appearance]] than the others. The most powerful Dead Apostle Ancestor, ORT (Type-Mercury), however is itself an Ultimate One, who was lumped in with the other ancestors [[YouKillItYouBoughtIt when the previous placeholder (itself extremely powerful) discovered its resting place and was annihilated like a bug for disturbing it]].
** ''VisualNovel/FateStayNight'''s [[UltimateEvil Angra Mainyu]], when possessing [[spoiler: the Grail]]. Sure, in ''VisualNovel/FateHollowAtaraxia'', he takes a vaguely human form, but in the main game, all we see of him is the black mud he spews forth and a tangle of limbs and eyes emerging from [[spoiler: the Grail]]. The thing is, [[NiceJobBreakingItHero he didn't exist]] until the Grail attempted to grant the wish of Avenger's fellow villagers who had desired for there to exist [[TheScapegoat a being they could blame as the source of all their sins]]. [[BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor They got exactly what they asked for]], a being [[TheHeartless made of every sin mankind ever has, ever will, and ever]] ''[[TheHeartless could]]'' [[TheHeartless commit]]. And it hates all mankind with a passion for forcing it to take this role.
* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion''
** Most of the Angels, despite their power and weird abilities, are "merely" really nasty {{Kaiju}}, but a few cross the line. Leliel is an infinitely thin disc that leads to AnotherDimension, with a 3-dimensional shadow [[MindScrew that casts its own shadow]]. Arael is [[LightIsNotGood colossal creature of light]] that fires beams made of MindRape. Armisael is a double helix in a perfect circle that inflicts horrific BodyHorror on an EVA [[spoiler:and Rei]] by [[TheAssimilator attempting to assimilate with them]].
** The ''[[Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion Rebuild]]'' films turned Ramiel and Sahaquiel into this. The former is living geometry that goes through multiple [[AlienGeometries impossible]] transformations that are mind-boggling to watch, while the latter is a ''gargantuan'' thing with several bizarre forms, and both of them ''scream'' when they attack.
** The [=EVAs=] are artificial abominations, combinations of [[spoiler:human and Angel]] that are [[PoweredByAForsakenChild powered by human souls and can only be piloted by psychologically scarred children]], the only thing that can fight Angels, and built [[spoiler:to cause TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt]]. Unit-01 is even nastier given the feats it performs, and in ''Rebuild 2.0'' [[spoiler:it starts Third Impact all by itself]].
** Adam and Lilith ([[spoiler:the progenitors of the Angels and humanity]] respectively) are leagues above the Angels and EVA. The former's mere ''awakening'' killed off half of humanity and terrified the survivors so thoroughly they thought the [=EVAs=] were a good idea, and [[spoiler:the awakening of Lilith]], as seen in ''End of Evangelion'', was such pure MindScrew that it surpassed everything else seen in the series combined, [[GainaxEnding and even screwed with our real-life psyches]]. By extension, this makes [[spoiler:Kaworu and Rei]] {{Humanoid Abomination}}s.
* ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'': Toned down some from the games' Pokédex descriptions, but some of the Pokémon remain delightfully creepy.
* The Nightwalker in ''PrincessMononoke'' may be enormous and scary to humans, but it isn't an EldritchAbomination. [[spoiler:Until its head is removed, that is.]]
* ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica''
** Witches exist as twisted abominations of AlienGeometries in their own chaotic dimension hidden and isolated from the rest of reality, and having yourself touched by a Witch will mind-control you into despair and suicide. The fact that [[spoiler:they're what Magical Girls [[AndThenJohnWasAZombie inevitably mutate into]] [[TheCorruption when they fall into despair and overuse]]]] makes it worse.
*** Walpurgisnacht breaks the established laws ''of witches''. It doesn't even need a labyrinth and can apparently yank skyscrapers into the air just for the hell of it. It took everything [[spoiler:Homura]] could throw at it [[NoSell without a scratch]], and [[spoiler:in all the previous timelines]] defeating it was either impossible or came [[PyrrhicVictory at a terrible price]].
*** Kriemhild Gretchen is a gargantuan tower of shadow that reaches far into the sky, and after 10 days will [[AssimilationPlot absorb all of humanity into its barrier]]. It is explicitly the most powerful witch ''ever'', formed from [[spoiler:the Magical Girl that one-shotted Walpurgisnacht]], and it's mere ''birth'' provided enough energy [[spoiler:for the Incubator to satisfy its quota for the entire planet]].
** [[spoiler:[[MessianicArchetype Ultimate Madoka]]]] is a benevolent example [[EldritchAbomination/MythologyAndReligion in the same vein as]] {{God}}. She is less a being and more an abstract concept, referred to as The Law of Cycles, powered by "multiple universes" all centered around her in a singularity, and when she was born she ''deleted a law of physics'' and rewrote the multiverse, past present and future, to insert herself as a ''fundamental force'' of all universes, [[spoiler:absorbing the full karma of existence's suffering to prevent Magical Girls who suffer despair from ever witching out and instead sending them to Heaven.]]
** The end of ''[[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagicaTheMovieRebellion Rebellion]]'' gives us [[spoiler:Akuma Homura. She ''imprisons Ultimate Madoka'', conquering ''existence'' and rewriting it to ''her'' designs as a paradise with an amnesiac Madoka as her pet.]]
* The {{Big Bad}}s of the first, second, third, and fifth story arcs of ''Anime/SailorMoon'': Queen Metalia, Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90, and Chaos. Pharaoh 90 and Chaos are even closer to this trope in the first anime; the [[Manga/SailorMoon manga]] allowed them to speak at least, but the anime took away ''any'' human features, making them ''completely'' alien and unknowable.
* The Noise from ''SenkiZesshouSymphogear'' - they have multiple forms, seems to be made of soild light, annihilate their victims by just touching them, are capable of combining, and the only thing that can kill them is Symphogear users, because they resonate with Noise, forcing them to ''obey the laws of physics''.
* ''Manga/SoulEater''
** [[spoiler:Great Old Ones]] are this or HumanoidAbomination in appearance. They're {{anthropomorphic personification}}s of madness of various kinds (i.e order/rule of law, terror, power, rage, knowledge). [[spoiler:Asura]] is likely 'terror' and [[spoiler:Eibon]] 'knowledge'. [[spoiler:Shinigami and Kid]] are both 'order'. [[spoiler:Excalibur]] represents Rage.
** [[spoiler:Kishin Asura]], before he puts his skin back on. Also, [[spoiler:Asura's superpowered, gargantuan form]] that he gets after he eats [[spoiler:Arachne's]] soul. Fitting, as [[spoiler:he IS the aforementioned Great Old One of the madness of terror]].
* ''StarDriver'': [[spoiler: Samekh]]. Sure, it's a HumongousMecha, incredibly big even when compared to other Cybodies and scary looking, but that's far from being worthy the name of EldritchAbomination, right? Well, [[spoiler: it's of alien origin, sentient, and capable of resisting its Driver's will. It can destroy most Cybodies effortlessly, and those who are already broken can be resurrected as its slaves. It was [[SealedEvilInACan sealed]] in AnotherDimension by using four powerful [[BarrierMaiden Maiden Cybodies]], and once it breaks free, it will consume [[TheLifestream Earth's entire life force]], ''killing every single life form on the planet''. It can also control time and space at full power]].
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann''
** The Anti-Spirals, having godlike powers, allowing them to break up laws of physics, create [[spoiler:living]] battle ships as they want, create [[spoiler:power-draining oceans in the middle of space, or trap people into a LotusEaterMachine at will]], live in their own pocket dimension they created, [[spoiler:create galaxy-sized HumongousMecha at an instant, without using Spiral Power]], and having very creepy forms, similar to a LivingShadow, with [[spoiler:the Anti-Spiral King]] resembling [[NonStandardCharacterDesign a living chalk drawing]]. In a slight subversion they are beings of ''order'', or at least see themselves as such, and [[spoiler:they were originally a normal race that evolved into an ultra-powerful HiveMind.]]
** The Anti-Spirals are unique because the reason why they attempted to ascend into TheSingularity in the first place is ''to stop what they consider to be a greater and more terrifying Eldritch Abomination'', this time [[RealityWarper able to create matter out of absolute nothing, kick all the laws of physics to the curb, warp and dismantle reality according to its will]], and powered by pure insanity, the abuse of which [[NegativeSpaceWedgie will create a supermassive black hole that will consume the entire universe]]. The cosmic horror is [[spoiler:[[HumansAreCthulhu Spiral Energy]], with the aforementioned "insanity" as ridiculous amounts of physics-disregarding willpower. The Anti-Spirals attempted to drive the Spirals into despair because of the dangers of Spiral Energy.]]
** The eponymous mech. It can only exist in a special space between dimensions, is impossibly large, and both it and the Grand Zamboa are able to weaponize galaxies. It's a giant robot that doubles as an EnergyBeing.
* The [[BlackMagic dark]] MagiTek of [[TheEmpire the Wischtech Empire]] in ''Manga/UbelBlatt'' is focused on either creating abominations or bestowing {{Lovecraftian Superpower}}s. Bonus points for its truly nightmarish use of HumanResources.
* In ''Manga/{{Uzumaki}}'', [[spoiler:[[GeniusLoci the]] [[EldritchLocation ruins]] [[BeneathTheEarth under the lake]]]] are [[TimeAbyss impossibly ancient]], the sole force responsible for the curse of the spirals and all the [[DrivenToMadness insanity]], [[BodyHorror mutations]], and [[CruelAndUnusualDeath deaths]] (and [[FateWorseThanDeath worse]]) throughout the manga... And they have done so before and will do it again probably for as long as there is sentient life on the planet.
* The various ''VampirePrincessMiyu'' continuities use Eldritch Abominations as [[MonsterOfTheWeek Monsters of the Week]]... and the leading DarkMagicalGirl.
* The denizens of the Dark World in WickedCity. While most can at least appear human if they want, they all have a slew of {{Lovecraftian Superpower}}s and most have [[BodyHorror horrific]] [[OneWingedAngel true forms]].
* The Hiruken Emperor from ''XamdLostMemories'' certainly qualifies. Not only does it have an unsettling and unnatural appearance, blots out the sun when it awakens, and causes a rain that [[TakenForGranite turns every living thing it touches to stone]], we later find out that [[spoiler:it's [[CameBackWrong the product of a failed attempt]] at [[MonsterFromBeyondTheVeil resurrecting a dead infant]] by using Hiruko technology]].
* ''{{Yaiba}}'' has Princess Kaguya's true form, which looks like a colossal, black blob with many hydra-bunnyish heads and huge grins. Then there's [[spoiler: Yamata no {{Orochi}}]], who is an [[spoiler: 8-headed, '''JAPAN-SIZED''' dragon that can erase whole countries in a matter of seconds.]]
* ''Anime/YuGiOh''
** Both the Orichalcos stones in the Doma [[StoryArc arc]], and the Light of Ruin that the Society of Light in ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'''s second season is built around, are Eldritch Abominations that were born from spatial phenomena and have no purpose but to [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt doom the universe under their whims]]. Even Judai's Neospacians reminded him that the Light of Ruin was a literal danger to all the cosmos.
** [[spoiler:Zorc of the [[http://www.alaerart.com/images/YGO-clrZork-300pc/YGOclrZorkSet214.jpg Dragoncrotch]]]]. An ancient demon... thing [[TheHeartless created by the darkness in human hearts]] who plans to bury the world in darkness. Although he's more of a GodOfEvil since he's blatantly malicious.
** The Earthbound Gods (aka Earthbound Immortals/Jibakushin) from ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds'', the evil entities sealed into the Nazca Lines and a serious threat to the protagonists.
