!!!Roleplay/DinoAttackRPG provides examples of:

* AbandonedHospital: Mercy Hospital, a ShoutOut to the hospital of the same name from VideoGame/Left4Dead.
* AbdicateTheThrone: Despite being next in line as alpha of the Adventurers' Island T-Rex pack, Rex knew that this would conflict with his duties to Dino Attack Team, and so Abdicated the Throne in favor of letting Chompy, his oldest sibling, rule in his stead.
* AbortedArc:
** The fate of any character's story when their player leaves Dino Attack RPG. Probably the most infamous example of an Aborted Arc would be Databoard's quest to rescue Stealth, which was left unresolved after Chronicler of Ko-Koro left Dino Attack RPG.
** Players do not even need to leave Dino Attack RPG for their story arcs to be aborted. For example, [=TakunuvaC01=] had some plans for the Dino Aliens that were ultimately aborted with the introduction of Dino Attack RPGs story arc formula.
** The alternate ending L.E.G.O. was aborted after only two chapters.
* AcePilot: Zenna, Prince Samuel Race, Mac, Cabin, Rotor, and Kara.
* AchievementsInIgnorance: In an effort to get rid of LEGOIsland Enter and Return, David gave them some money to go about getting their desired items. Enter and Return somehow managed to go to a store, buy a fishing pole, go the harbor, catch a shark, and then return to the hospital in about 30 seconds.
* ActionGirl:
** Amanda Claw, Dromus, Aravis, Minerva, Vinyaya, Cabin, Kat, Maria, Zelda, Zealot, and Kara.
** Although not actually agent Pyro, Andrea Jackson Orange is a pretty darn good action girl who specializes in flamethrowers.
** ActionMom: Sarah Bishop.
** DarkActionGirl: Silencia Venomosa.
* ActionSurvivor: Many Dino Attack agents were former civilians suddenly thrust into the action.
* ActuallyADoombot: Wondering why Ogel was killed three times during the final battle and yet still managed to survive? Maybe you should read the March-April 2001 issue of LEGO Mania.
* AdaptationExpansion: The original LEGO theme had a very simple plot: mutant dinosaurs are attacking the city, and four guys are trying to stop them. However, the Dino Attack RPG revealed that this has happened all over the world, bringing in other LEGO-themed locations and showing the impact that these events have had on them. The Dino Attack Team of the original theme consisted of four men, but the RPG has shown that it is actually much larger and there are women helping out. It's also explained what happened to the citizens of the various places that have been invaded (an issue completely ignored in the original line), and there is even some background as to why the heck all this is happening in the first place.
* AdultFear:
** Both Sarah Bishop and Helen Rutherford were worried sick about their children being out on the battlefield. Unfortunately, Kate is bullied by Rotor while Scout is killed by [[spoiler:Ata]].
** Somewhat understandably, Sarah was uncertain when Andrew started to talk Kate into joining him, as she was worried about the very real possibility of Kate being killed in action.
* AdventurerArchaeologist: Dust and Adventure.
* AffablyEvil:
** Some members of XERRD, most notably Walter Breen.
** Dust also can be well-mannered but is not evil.
** Edward Korrupte, CEO of Dacta Corporation, may have been a ruthless businessman who was willing to hire a renowned criminal and permitted her to commit murder for a profit, but he sure did know how to make himself sound like the good guy when it came to his rivalry with Mindstorms, Inc.
** As Matthew Vherestorm, Blaire Darkling was described as being extremely polite by Nazareno.
* AffirmativeActionGirl:
** Kate Bishop was introduced solely because Atton Rand noticed that all of his characters, sans Zenna and Elizabeth, were male.
** Kat was introduced because, at the time, the only other female character in the entire RPG was Amanda, who had been turned into a mutant T-Rex
* AfterActionPatchup: Hertz gets one at the end of both the battle for the forbidden ruins and the battle of the temple of creation.
* AfterTheEnd: December 21, 2010 takes place in horrible post-apocalyptic world that makes Literature/TheRoad look romanticized. All life on the planet has been reduced to six people and a dinosaur, who are all crammed into one temple. The Maelstrom is destroying the entire planet, and cannot be stopped. There are explicit references to the deaths of major characters, and finally concluding with the entire planet being blown up and an explicit statement that "there were no survivors".
* TheAgeless: Dr. Rex, so long as he is injecting himself with Jugend Serum.
* AggressiveNegotiations: Silencia Venomosa seems to love these.
* AgonyBeam: Carolyne Provencal's staff causes a great deal of Maelstrom-influenced excruciating pain before killing the victim.
* AirVentPassageway:
** The XERRD Fortress is full of these... then again, since these are the same air vents that blow out neurotoxins and other poisonous gases, it might not be such a bright idea to crawl through them.
** Mary Rose hid in the air vents when Mutant Dinos attacked Dino Attack Headquarters. Justified, since she is a little girl.
* AirborneMook: Mutant Pterosaurs. The Quasifigus pterisa was originally intended by XERRD to be developed into one.
* TheAlcoholic: Demoman, Clint Wayne, and the various pirates on the team.
* AlasPoorVillain:
** Dust's , even if he wasn't exactly a villain.
** It's not hard to feel a small shred of sympathy for Dr. Rex, especially after learning that he is the way he is because the Maelstrom poisoned his mind.
** Loop might have been a complete monster in life... but dang, his last words were a tear jerker.
* AlcoholicParent: David Johnson Glados and Mr. Thutmose. Athena Fabello was this at one point before losing her mind.
* AlienTropes: With the presence of Dino Aliens and LEGOLifeOnMars a Martian, some of these were inevitably invoked.
** AlienInvasion: A recon group of Dino Aliens was scouting the LEGO Planet in preparation for the full invasion.
** AliensSpeakingEnglish: Laxus.
** AmusingAlien: Laxus, being a Deadpan Snarker, has several pretty amusing lines.
** DescriptivelyNamedSpecies: Dino Aliens. Justified because Reptile did not know their true name and, when writing about them in the Dino Attack Database, nicknamed them after their appearance and tactics.
** HumanoidAliens: Laxus and Dino Aliens both fit the standard.
*** TheReptilians: Dino Aliens.
** LowCultureHighTech: The Dino Aliens are invaders and conquerors who view the LEGO Planet as primitive and Minifigs as a lesser race.
* AllAbusersAreMale: Invoked by Greybeard's flashback/dream sequence.
* AllCrimesAreEqual: Rotor tried to have a whole T-1 typhoon crew shot because the pilot had disobeyed orders, among them were James [=McGregor=] (pretty much the one person besides Pierce that Kate got along with).
* AllGermansAreNazis:
** Not quite, but it is worth noting that, out of four figures from the FictionalCountry of Barron (which is essentially a representation of stereotypical Germany), three are villains and one is a MadDoctor. Additionally, Kuru met a German scientist working for XERRD.
** On top of that, there's Dunkelheit, who was actually a Stromling Agent, and Schattenberg, the founding family of [=ShadowTech=].
** Ironically, the only character who is revealed to actually be German and not Barron, Frank Einstein, is a complete aversion of this trope.
* AllThereInTheManual: The Dino Attack RPG Wiki contains a boatload more information on various characters and events, ranging from Offical LEGO Canon some readers might not be aware of, to backstory of secondary characters like Laxus and Semick that are not fully explored in the RPG proper. There are even some characters, such as Cyber-Bully and Bacon, whose names were never mentioned in Dino Attack RPG and can only be found by looking on the wiki.
* AllYourBaseAreBelongToUs:
** Cam O'Cozy's efforts to turn the team against itself resulted in a Civil War inside the Dino Attack Headquarters that got so chaotic it made the average VideoGame/TeamFortress2 map look peaceful.
** There was also the mutant dinos' invasion of the camp on Adventurers' Island.
** Not to mention Dino Attack Headquarters in the later stages of the final battle...
* AlmostDeadGuy: Sir Robert Batrick.
* AlmostKiss: Rotor and Cabin.
* AloneWithThePsycho:
** Dust and Lutsky in the confinement tent. Which one is the psycho is up for debate.
** Whose idea was it to leave a HeroicBSOD Rex alone in a T-1 Typhoon cabin with Pyromaniac Andrew Jackson?
* AlternateTimeline: The Future Villains created an alternate timeline by going back in time and changing the past, with the point of divergence being the early Dino Attack when they joined forces with their past selves.
* AlwaysABiggerFish: The triceratops stampede during the battle of the Aztec Village.
* AlwaysAccurateAttack: Most of the team has invoked this concept at some point.
** Subverted twice by Lance Williams. The first time he attempted to fire and Loop while he was jumping out of a helicopter, only causing minor damage. Later on he tried to fire at two "Stromlings" (in actuality Clint Wayne and Kate Bishop) but somehow managed to avoid hitting either of them despite using a machine gun.
* AlwaysChaoticEvil: Although for the most part this trope has been averted thanks to exceptions to every "evil" race, Stromlings are always evil, cunning, ruthless, and proud to be so, without exception.
* AlwaysIdenticalTwins: Enter and Return.
* TheAmazon: Adventurers' Island, Dinosaur Island, and Ogel's Island.
* AmbiguousGender: In a reference to his inspiration, some characters argued about Pyromaniac Pyro's gender. Officially, Pyro was said by [=PeabodySam=] to be a man... until the suit was removed by Atton Rand and Pyro was revealed to be a woman. And then, because Pyro was NotAsYouKnowThem, this was Retconned so that Pyro was male all along and the female Pyro was actually an imposter.
* AmbiguousRobots: Libo.
* AmbiguousSituation: The entire scene with Trigger is up to interpretation. Is it real, or just a hallucination? Is it even canon? No further details can be offered on the subject, as [=PeabodySam=] is understandably reluctant in Dino Attack RPG.
* AmbitionIsEvil:
** A character analysis of Dr. Rex revealed that ambition is one of his tragic flaws. Every evil act he has committed, from kidnapping Talia Kaahs to starting the Dino Attack, was due to ambition - he wanted something greater than that which he already had.
** Many other XERRD scientists, most notably Michelle Glados and Walter Breen, also became evil due to their ambition.
* AmericanAccents: Maria speaks in a "Texas Drawl" style.
* AmericaSavesTheDay: After a heated debate on what to do with Rotor after his court-martial, Tesh Carrey wins by calling the American Air Force to pick him up. However it is ultimately subverted, as the man who arrives is Canadian.
* AmnesiacHero: Rex and Dr. Cyborg.
* AmplifiedAnimalAptitude: It seems that all animals are just as intelligent as, if not more than, Minifigs.
** Becomes integral to the story as the AmplifiedAnimalAptitude is what inspires Rex and other Dino Attack agents to become idealists, finding that they cannot bring harm to other intelligent beings.
* AnachronicOrder: Some posts will take place just before the one prior.
** To provide a straightforward example, the flashback alternates between the perspectives of Schiess and Silencia. [=PeabodySam's=] descriptions of her murder of Orange and Scorsese as well as UŠrlig Sindstorme were all written after Atton Rand had already described Schiess's reactions to them.
** This could be used to explain why the Adventurers' Island arc in At War's End took place over the course of a day while the Gold City arc took place over two. However, this could also be justified by taking into account the real-life practice of time zones.
** Everything written after the final battle makes heavy use of AnachronicOrder.
* AnachronismStew:
** As a result of MedievalStasis and SchizoTech, the LEGO Planet and Dino Attack Team is a NinjaPirateZombieRobot AnachronismStew.
** During the 1957 flashback, characters notably spoke with modern slang words and phrases such as "bro", "my man", and "dude". However, this was intentional. PeabodySam wanted the characters to seem much younger than their 2010 counterparts, and so chose these words and phrases since readers would associate them with youth; however, [=PeabodySam=] did not want to use slang from TheFifties such as "swell" or "golly", fearing that they would distract readers with their "corniness" and thus detract from the point of the flashback.
*** In the same flashback, "Duplo School" was mentioned, but Duplo did not exist until 1973.
* AndIMustScream:
** Katerina Schattenberg when she was essentially being Mind Raped by Lupus Schattenberg.
** spoiler:After Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention, Dr. Rex was still fully conscious, but suffering a FateWorseThanDeath as he was forced to keep living and keep fighting while suffering terrible pain and agony due to the Darkitect's possession. While he could and did scream, that one scream could not possibly account for every passing second of AndIMustScream suffered by .
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: Players are given the opportunity to change their primary character. If their current primary character is an elite agent, players have the choice whether to avert this trope (their new character is also an elite agent) or play it straight (their new character is a standard agent). To date, only Atton Rand has played this trope straight, with standard agent Trigger replacing elite agent Zenna.
* AndThatLittleGirlWasMe: How PBB introduced himself to Rex. When Rex freaked out at the sight of a Brickster-Bot, PBB began to tell an anecdote about a Brickster-Bot who was built by an Alpha Team agent and helped to battle Evil Ogel... and then revealed that he himself was that Brickster-Bot.
* AndTheAdventureContinues: Jackson Lake's story ends with David O'Neal, Lucy Wright, and Ben Shiller starting a cross-country car trip.
* AndThenJohnWasAZombie:
** And then Axel, Snake, Amanda Claw, and Zorikk were Mutant Dinos.
** And then Zachary Virchaus was a Stromling.
** And then Swerve was an Ogel Drone.
* AndroclesLion: Rex tamed Trouble and, as a result, freed Trouble from the slavery of Dr. Rex . In gratitude, Trouble was willing to die to save Rex's life.
* Angrish: Andrew Jackson eventually descended into this. Lampshaded by the comm chatter.
* AnimalTalk: All dinosaurs speak the same language. And all Mutant Dinosaurs speak the same language.
* AnimalThemeNaming: Most Dino Attack agents have dinosaur (or, at least, reptile)-based nicknames.
* AnimateDead: Skeleton Mummies have the ability to instantly animate the corpses of people they kill, turning them into zombie minions.
* Animorphism: The effects of Mutant Dino serum.
* AnotherDimension: The Torn World.
* AntiHero: Dust and Trigger, both of whom have very little concern for the team. Dust just wanted to find a temple, and Trigger openly admitted that he's only in it for the money.
* AntiVillain: Evil Ogel, Sam Sinister, the Brickster, and Vladek while working with the Dino Attack Team. Also, Katerina Schattenberg and Oswald Fabello.
** SlidingScaleOfAntiVillains: The four Anti-Villains listed above are best described as Type I while working with Dino Attack Team. Additionally, General Evil was a Type II example who eventually became a true villain before performing a Heel Face Turn. Oswald Fabello is a Type II.
* AnyoneCanDie:
** While most deaths are [=NPCs=], several important [=NPCs=] such as PBB and Aravis have been killed off. Primary character deaths are very rare, but Rev Raptor and Sereve both died in the battle against Landro while Louis "Dryptosaurus" was killed by a Mutant T-Rex, both rather early in the RPG. did end up being killed in the Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins. If it were not for a ThrowItIn situation created by that guy from that show, Atton Rand's primary character Zenna might have been unexpectedly killed off. And then, [[spoiler:Rex's Days Are Numbered.]]
** Horrifically exemplified by the FinalBattle. The final battle has taken the lives of spoiler:long-runners such as Rex, Amanda Claw, and Trouble, as well as fan-favorites Adventure, Semick, Septimus/Swerve, and Kareem Nazareno. Other notable casualties of the final battle include King Joseph Race, Trigger, Athena Fabello, Contest, Coral, Anubis, and General.
* ApocalypseHow:
** Class 3a, considering that the entire Dino Attack was engineered by a group of mad scientists.
** Class X, in December 21, 2010.
* ApocalypseWow: December 21, 2010, full stop.
* ApocalypticLog: Medic had a tape recorder he was presumably using to record the results of his autopsy on Engineer. Instead, it recorded the last few minutes of his life and the immediate aftermath of his murder.
* AprilFoolsDay: Dino Attack RPG has observed three April Fools' Days, starting in 2010. In 2010, Dr. Rex hacked the Dino Attack RPG Wiki and changed into a XERRD propaganda website. In 2011, playing off players' expectations of Dr. Rex returning to the wiki, [=PeabodySam=]'s IC post contained a hidden message from Dr. Rex himself. In 2012, [=PeabodySam=] released a list of spoilers that most frequently involved characters slipping on a banana peel and having a heart attack while sipping a cup of tea.
* AreTheseWiresImportant: Little Bot managed to cut the Voltages power by cutting a few wires.
* AnArmAndALeg: It has happened frequently throughout the Dino Attack RPG, with victims including Zachary and Fullmetal.
* ArmCannon: Dr. Cyborg has one in his alt-mode, and Sam Throramebi's prosthetic mechanical arm has a retractable hand that doubles as a plasma cannon.
* ArmorPiercingAttack: Since silge, like all other metals, is a high conductor of electricity, ShockAndAwe is the only attack that could penetrate Dr. Rex's silge armor.
* ArmyScout: Scout.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking:
** Quoted nearly word-for-word by the Brickster.
** Hertz compares acting without a plan to suicide, a kamikaze attack, and marching "into a Franchise/StarWars convention with the intent of declaring midichlorians as the best thing the prequels ever gave us".
** Snake is guilty of "bank robbery, murder, arson, carjacking, mugging, multiple accounts of physical assault including several on officers of the law, smuggling, and selling pirated [=DVDs=]."
** Matthew Vherestorm/Blaire Darkling is described as having little problem with murder, arson, violence, destruction, chaos, and punting kittens out of airlocks. That last bit apparently really upset humane societies.
* TheArtifact: Rex's T-Rex body and Frozeen's G.E. Body, which is why they were both nullified in the Dino Island Laboratory battle.
* ArtificialHuman: Kat and Cameron O'Cozy.
* ArtificialLimbs:
** The Frickster, Zachary, Fullmetal, Zed Provhezor, and Paulie Gonepus.
** While he does not have any confirmed artificial limbs, Kareem Nazareno specializes in creating these.
** Dr. Cyborg not only has artificial limbs, he also has an artificial trunk and artificial half-face!
* Asexuality: Hotwire is confirmed to be an aromantic asexual; he feels little to no romantic attraction to others.
* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: A character with a FunetikAksent is implied to have come from a foreign country.
* AsTheGoodBookSays:
** Pharisee (mis)quotes Ezekiel 25:17 and later quotes the beginning of Psalm 94 (MSG) in his non-canon confrontation with Trigger.
** One comment over the comm chatter was a quote from the Bible, Psalm 23:4.
* AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence: Greybeard mentions this trope when he suggests that, by sacrificing his Creative Spark to save the world, lives on in everyone.
* AscendedExtra: Rex, Trouble, Kat, Ata, Helmie, Hertz, Frank Einstein, Zelda Frodongan, and the alpha female T-Rex.
* AnAssKickingChristmas: The FinalBattle took place only a few days before Christmas. This was acknowledge by several Dino Attack agents who, fearing they might not survive the battle, decided to celebrate Christmas during the battle.
* AssholeVictim: When Trigger died, he was rather unpopular in the RPG.
* TheAssimilator: The Maelstrom. While Stromlings will often infiltrate the team by assimilating unsuspecting agents, generally quiet characters who will be less likely to be noticed, as was seen with Zelda, Norris, and Palmer.
* TheAtoner:
** Amanda, General, George Brown, Solomon Koplowitz, and Blaire Darkling.
** Heck, if you want to start bringing in real-life examples, Atton Rand could qualify. He spend much of the Adventurers' Island arc deliberately introducing good realists such as Rotor, Clint Wayne, Cabin, and Garry, in an effort to undo the realist image he had unwittingly created in the LEGO Island arc. Also in order to make up for the damage he unwittingly caused he specifically brought back French Fries so that everyone could get back at him for the trouble he put them through (although admittedly the results were a lot more brutal than anticipated- Atton had expected him to get insulted and maybe eventually arrested... he didn't quite count on Rex's beatdown, which did leave him somewhat shocked).
* AudienceSurrogate:
** Kate Bishop more or less acts like anyone who had been sent on their first mission to a tropical island inhabited by mutant dinos probably would.
** Pierce could also be considered an example, as his perspective on the issues at hand often reflects that of the players.
** In HTTYML, Rex serves as the AudienceSurrogate as readers see the Dino Attack from the perspective of someone who just woke up in a collapsed building while suffering from LaserGuidedAmnesia.
* UsefulNotes/AustralianSlang: Hunter 2000, Adventure, Sniper, and other Australian characters tend to talk like this.
* AuthorAvatar: Players often (but not always) model their primary characters after themselves. A classic example would be the characters Canama and Cookieo, who were clearly Author Avatars of their respective players.
** avmatoran has explicitly stated that he based Dr. Cyborg on himself.
** Zachary and Andrew share the names of their creators, so this trope may also be present there.
** Of all of [=PeabodySam's=] characters, Frozeen comes the closest to an AuthorAvatar; [=PeabodySam=] is aware of this and has even taken steps to make Frozeen even more similar to himself, such as diagnosing Frozeen as having Asperger's syndrome. However, nearly all of [=PeabodySam's=] characters carry some of his different personality traits, making them all Author Avatars to a degree... the only notable exception being Troll Grease, who was specifically modeled as the exact type of person [=PeabodySam=] hates the most.
*** It speaks for itself that that guy for that show would cast Jim Parsons in the role of Frozeen, and [=PeabodySam's=] real-life friends often tell him that he reminds them of Sheldon Cooper.
* AuthorFilibuster: Although exaggerated either for storytelling or for humorous purposes, many of the things that in-universe characters complain about, such as the LEGOPowerMiners color scheme or the quality of modern music, is just an excuse for their writers to complain about something they don't like.
* AxCrazy:
** Most of the Second Headquarters Squad.
** Firecracker with anything that goes boom!
** Pyromaniac Andrew Jackson. Just... Andrew Jackson.

* BackForTheDead:
** Although Sir Robert Batrick never appeared in any RPG or story before, since this is the first time [=PeabodySam=] used the character since VideoGame/LEGORacers, he considers Batrick's cameo appearance a case of BackForTheDead.
** Mur lasted only a handful of posts in At War's End before his death.
** After being M.I.A. for six years, seven months, and seven days (real-time), finally made his long-anticipated return...
* BackForTheFinale:
**
** After completely vanishing following the death of the original Pirates RPG, and not being given so much as a mention in the Dino Attack RPG or even the short-lived remake, Elizabeth's old friend Lt. Robert Maynard was finally brought back in the final story arc, not that anyone really wondered what happened to him.
* BackFromTheDead: After dying, Frozeen met a mysterious voice which tells deceased Minifigs "It is time" but will revive them if convinced that said Minifigs' friends are in danger. Of course, Frozeen successfully convinces the voice, but finds it harder than either Databoard or Kotua.
* BackStab:
** Spy specializes in these, though he was never actually seen to do one on-screen.
** Silencia Venomosa was revealed to have done this to Deniro and Keaton, two of Trigger's old partners.
* BadBoss:
** Dr. Rex, especially just before the final battle, was well-acknowledged as mad by his fellow XERRD scientists, but ruled over them through fear. He showed little regard for their safety and saw their suggestions as treason. He refused to acknowledge [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus's involvement in the Dino Attack]], forcing his fellow scientists to continue their work.
** , who cares very little for his minions and has no second thoughts about killing them if they fail him or if he has no use for them any longer.
* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: Three of the four villains working with Dino Attack Team participated in the black ops Antarctica mission because Specs knew that they would have no problem killing the cold-adapted Mutant Dinos and destroying their nests.
* BadassAndChildDuo: Greybeard and Mary Rose.
* BadassBeard: Semick, Greybeard, Rex, Dr. Rex, and Blaire Darkling. Zachary Virchaus had one briefly.
* BadassBystander: Ben Gunn during [[spoiler:Ata's]] attempted escape.
* BadassDriver: Montoya and Sam Race.
* BadassInANiceSuit: Spy and imaginary Dust.
* BadassInCharge: Commander Pharisee for Dino Attack's internal affairs. Blaire Darkling for XERRD.
* BadassLongcoat: Greybeard wears one of the pirate captain variety. Blaire Darkling also sports one carrying XERRD's emblem. During the heist on Dacta Corporation, Silencia Venomosa wore one. Pharisee wears one as head of internal affairs.
* BadassMustache: Marco Martinet, thanks to his inspiration.
* BadassPreacher: Pharisee is the closest thing the Dino Attack Team has to a preacher.
* TheBait:
** Lutsky's plan to use Kate as a means to catch Dr. Wallace Bishop, although it didn't exactly go well with the other agents and it certainly didn't help that he first proposed the idea right in front of her when she was already under extreme stress.
** In the final battle, Rex attempted to lure Dr. Rex into a trap by using his Iron Predator as TheBait. Almost worked, but Dr. Rex realized that it was a trap too soon. The trap only worked when Evil Ogel was used as TheBait.
* BaitAndSwitch: XERRD succeeded in pulling off a BaitAndSwitch against Dino Attack Team thrice. First, Dr. Rex lured the Dino Attack Team into Quadrant 14 of the Goo Caverns with the promise of looking for a powerful weapon, where they were instead ambushed by a Mutant Dino army. Second, Paulie Gonepus led the Dino Attack Team to the Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins, tricking them into thinking that it was the Maelstrom Temple, only for them to eventually discover that it was merely a RedHerring. Third, a random Mutant T-Rex in silver armor was at the front lines of XERRD's Mutant Dino army, and everyone naturally assumed that it was Dr. Rex, while the real Dr. Rex was leading some Mutant Dinos through the subway system and sneaking past Dino Attack Team's front lines.
* BaitAndSwitchGunshot:
** Type A example: Breen is pointing a gun at Kate. The ensuing gunshot was not Breen firing at Kate, but shooting Breen.
** Type A example: is killed by Lutsky when he pointed his gun at the Dino Attack members. This is a variation on the trope in which the gunman is killed by a bad guy and the person was pointing the gun at was not the hero in question.
** Type B example: Glados is arguing with Rex, then she raises her weapon and fires. While the following paragraph is written to trick the reader into thinking that she shot Rex... she didn't. Instead, as revealed by the very next paragraph, Glados actually .
* BagOfHolding:
** Spy sometimes carries around a briefcase containing the clothes of various Dino Attack agents and allies so that he can disguise himself. Imagine having to pack that thing.
** In one of Kat's earliest appearances, she pulled a bag of styrofoam packing peanuts seemingly out of nowhere while making an improvised firebomb.
* BaldOfAwesome: Rex, Dust, and Kareem Nazareno.
* BaldOfEvil: Dr. Rex, Zed Provhezor, and Ahua.
* BandOfBrothers: Dino Attack Team... most of the time.
** There is a lot of this. Zenna, Andrew, Zach, David, and Hotwire are just a few among one such group.
** Just about all the medics stationed on Adventurers' Island, namely Pierce, Wade, Crusher, and Carver.
* BarBrawl:
** A lengthy fight scene between Snake and Plastic Serpent in Outpost 4's cafeteria, in the process knocking over a lot of dishes and chairs.
** This is essentially how Shiller and Wright met each other.
* TheBartender: Bart and Carrie Enderson, along with the unnamed deceased pirate bartender.
* BashBrothers: Heavy and Medic.
* BatmanGambit:
** Dust's plans and manipulations of Dino Attack agents to get to the Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins.
** Captain Click manipulated the Dino Attack Team into bringing him the Constructopedia.
** Dr. Rex and [[spoiler:Attila Hunstman]] collaborated on a BatmanGambit to leak information on a secret Antarctica mission through their android, Cam O'Cozy, to stir distrust and animosity between realists and idealists.
** Sam Sinister actually engineered a minor BatmanGambit, counting on the personalities of those involved, to ensure that he by sending Mr. Cunningham to hunt her.]]
* BattleAmongstTheFlames: The final battle against Dr. Rex took place on the roof of a burning Dino Attack Headquarters.
* BattleCouple:
** Rex and Amanda Claw.
** Zachary Virchaus and Minerva Fabello.
** Barry Jackson and Teri Dactyl were intended to be such. It did not work quite as originally planned due to their love story being rushed.
** Rotor and Cabin definitely come close to qualifying.
** And now Maria and Andrea Jackson Orange are a lesbian battle couple.
* BattleInTheRain: The FinalBattle.
* BeardOfEvil: Walter Breen.
* BeautyIsNeverTarnished: Subverted in the cases of Talia Kaahs and Holly Vinyaya, both of whom received some nasty scars across their faces.
* BecomingTheMask:
** General has implied that this was what made him become General Evil.
** Rex was supposed to be aware that he was a Mutant T-Rex disguised as a Minifig pretending to help the Dino Attack Team. Instead, he ended up believing that he was actually a Minifig and actually supposed to help the Dino Attack Team.
** Katerina Schattenberg closed off most of her mind and memories in order to keep Cane from realizing she had survived as Kat.
*** And then this turned into a slight subversion when it was revealed that the mask that she became became a separate entity.
* BeepingComputers: The machine that goes "BING!"
* BelatedBackstory:
** The characterizations of Libo, Amanda Claw, and Katerina Schattenberg underwent massive shifts after their backstories were revealed.
** A similar thing happened with Kate, who was initially built up as something of a resourceful young girl with [=McGyvering=] skills and the potential to become an action girl. She turned into a much more insecure and sympathetic character once Atton Rand started hinting at her troubled childhood.
* BelievingTheirOwnLies: It is implied that this was the case with Dr. Rex, who, despite mounting evidence that [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus was behind this (including Dr. Rex actually hearing Typhonus's voice in his head), refused to believe that the Darkitect was anything more than a myth and]] asserted that XERRD's purpose was to repopulate the world with dinosaurs, not to .
* BedlamHouse: There are hints that the Napoleon XIV Institute would be an example.
* BeneathTheEarth: The Goo Caverns.
* BenevolentBoss: Despite seeming cold and harsh, Specs genuinely cares about the welfare of his team.
* BerserkButton:
** Never mention "Dr. Rex" to Ben Gunn.
** Whatever you do, do not talk dismissively of Zachary Abody in front of Frozeen.
** Somehow, Troll Grease knows how to push everybody's Berserk Buttons.
** Pierce may normally be a calm and decent man, but if you lay a hand on Kate or put her in a risky situation of any kind, he'll be all over you.
** Rotor has managed to push the Berserk Buttons of most of the main characters, ranging from facing an angry Pierce after sending Kate alone into an enemy fortress filled with neurotoxins (something he still hasn't forgiven him for) to facing prosecution from every elite agent on Adventurers' Island after attempting to have a group of agents executed.
** After Kotua's betrayal, Rex has developed a BerserkButton towards Dino Attack agents who are traitors or try to hurt other agents without reason. Even worse, if you dare to try hurting one of his friends, you're just asking for a NoHoldsBarredBeatdown.
** Semick and Bluetooth don't respond well to complete idiocy (the former to someone actually thinking LEGO Island's disappearance was faked, the latter to French Fries's final folly).
** Because of his manipulative skills, Dust knows how to find anyone's BerserkButton and can successfully use it to accomplish his goals, as he did with Carl Lutsky.
** Se˝or Palomar takes pride in his Spanish Honor. Insulting it will push his BerserkButton, ironically, to the point where he will break his own code of honor out of anger.
** Taken to the extreme with Walter, whose berserk button can literally be triggered by anything, including some guy putting a single toe over the line in a bowling alley.
** If you want to call Sergeant Ronald E. Army "Soldier", never do so while he is in earshot.
** Ordinarily, Sarah Bishop is a polite, kind and caring woman... just so long as you stay away from her daughter.
** Blaire Darkling has only lost his composure when being accused that he still operates as Matthew Vherestorm.
** And Nazareno doesn't appreciate it when he is unmasked unwillingly.
** Word of God says Dr. Cyborg does not like it when people make references to certain dictorial groups or anything else related to that to him. So don't do it.
* BerserkerTears: Rex was still noticeably crying over the deaths of while he mercilessly slaughtered Mutant Lizards and a Mutant Raptor with a Sonic Screamer, flamethrower, Cosmotronic Ray, and shotgun.
* BetaCouple: General and Talia Kaahs, to Rex and Amanda's Alpha Couple.
* BewareOfHitchhikingGhosts: A variation with Kotua's cameo appearance during the final battle. Kotua mysteriously shows up after being M.I.A. for a long time (and assumed by some to be dead), then mysteriously disappears after Sherlock looks away. An interesting twist is that it's Kotua who offers Sherlock a ride, not the other way around. Note that while Kotua is actually neither dead nor a ghost, this scene has all the proper elements of this trope and was intended to invoke this trope.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Rotor's decision to send Kate alone into the XERRD Fortress didn't exactly go over well with Pierce and Wade.
* BewareTheQuietOnes:
** Amanda Claw, full stop.
** At first glance, A.J. Orange just seems shy and insecure. That's until you give her a flamethrower and a few enemies.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Ben Gunn in the Goo Caverns.
* BFS: Lt. Winston "Epic Winston" Grendelwulf's five-foot broadsword.
* BigBad: Dr. Rex... [[spoiler:until it was Hijacked by Typhonus.]]
** BigBadEnsemble: The final battle pits Dino Attack Team against Dr. Rex, [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus]], Dr. Inferno, and Willa the Witch.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Ultimately why Oswald Fabello chose to care for Minerva after their brother's death and mother's institutionalization.
** Even with his mental instability, he still wished to save his sister from the apocalypse.
** Even after 76 years of separation, Dr. Rex still felt Big Brother Instinct towards Katerina Schattenberg.
* BigDamnHeroes: Most of the team has become this at some point. Even Kate had one or two moments.
** The founding members' T-1 Typhoon during the battle for the power station.
** In the Goo Caverns, when Rex was held prisoner in an abandoned Ogel outpost and about to watch the Brickspider Bot kill Ben Gunn, General and Shock barge in with their Ogel Drilling Vehicle and save the day.
** Rex, Amanda, Rotor, and Kate lampshaded this trope, hoping to play it straight by going to the Temple of Creation, gathering Imagination, and then arriving at the Maelstrom Temple in the Dino Attack Team's darkest hour to save the day. Unfortunately, due to the UnspokenPlanGuarantee, this trope was ultimately subverted.
* TheBigDamnKiss:
** Hertz has one with Naomi before she leaves on the teleport pad.
** Rex and Amanda's "you may kiss the bride" moment during their Wartime Wedding, as a ShoutOut to the scene from At World's End.
* BikerBabe: Cabin.
* BilingualBonus:
** At the bottom of the expository post in both Dino Attack RPG topics, the words "Play well!" are written. LEGO is a amalgamation of the Danish phrase "leg godt", which translates to "play well".
** See Foreign Language Names for the full list of BilingualBonus character names, but here are a few notable examples:
*** The Schattenberg family founded [=ShadowTech=]. What does "schatten" mean in German? "Shadow".
*** Dr. Dunkelheit was a Dino Attack nurse. Anyone who speaks German would know that "dunkelheit" is German for "darkness", spoiling the fact that she was actually a Stromling Agent in disguise.
*** Minerva's older brother, Tod Fabello, was accidentally killed in 2004. Not only is Tod a common first name, but it is also the German word for "death".
*** Toa Antrakha may have named Ragnorok after a mech from Videogame/MechAssault, but it is likely derived from the Norse word Ragnarok. According to NorseMythology, Ragnarok was essentially the apocalypse in the form of ultimate destruction of the gods and men in a cataclysmic battle with evil, monsters, and darkness. Sounds rather close to the Dino Attack, doesn't it?
*** If one were to interpret the "L" as the Spanish article "la", Greybeard's real name, Grisbarba L. Pirata, basically translates into "Greybeard the Pirate".Technically, though, "grisbarba" would translate to "beardgrey", but PeabodySam says that "Grisbarba" sounds better than "Barbagris".
** The Dr. Mario/Super Mario CaptainErsatz is from Madarch City. "Madarch" is a Welsh word for "mushrooms".
** One of Dr. Rex's BossSubtitles, Mutant Tyrant Lizard King, basically translates into Mutant Tyrannosaurus Rex.
** The anti-aging serum was recently revealed to be named Jugend Serum. "Jugend" is the German word for "youth".
* BilingualDialogue:
** Quite conveniently, most dinosaurs and Mutant Dinosaurs understand English quite perfectly, even if they cannot speak it.
** The above scenario is inverted with Rex, who can understand the language of dinosaurs and can loosely translate the language of Mutant Dinosaurs, but he can no longer speak either language.
** Averted with the female T-Rex encountered by Rex and Chompy on Adventurers' Island, who did not know English and needed Chompy as a translator.
* BittersweetEnding:
** Dr. Rex, , and the Mutant Dinos were finally defeated, but at the cost of the lives of , and many others. However, a lot of emphasis is put on the "sweet" aspect of "bittersweet", such as it being said that their deaths should not be mourned but instead celebrated, to prevent this from sounding like a DownerEnding.
** The resolution of the Wallace Bishop side plot is that, despite cutting out the part of his brain that should contain his memories, Wallace still remembers his love for his family. Aww, so sweet, right? But don't forget that Wallace Bishop is still unfit for society and must remain in Napoleon XIV Mental Institution for the rest of his life. That's... rather bitter.
** Aside from the final post focused on Angel Eyes and Clint Wayne (who have bonded together to the point they are a ruthless duo in Gold City), many of Atton Rand's last posts deliberately tried to focus on the darker elements but as a compromise retained some degree of hope. Montoya goes home to his wife and promises a better life for his kids, but he could very easily come down with PTSD.
*** Sarah Bishop manages to survive the war with her daughter and is reunited with her daughter's biological father, but she is riddled with guilt over her actions and consequently suffering from insomni. Her daughter meanwhile has a severe case of PTSD and a drug addiction, but now the family has a loving husband and father in Pierce who is very clearly determined to help them.
* BlackAndGrayMorality: Pharisee's perspective regarding himself and the people he hunts, Trigger in particular.
* BlackAndWhiteInsanity: Pharisee suffers from this.
* BlackComedy: The very existence of elite agent Redshirt, who was introduced just so he could be killed off, was largely PlayedForLaughs.
* BlackCloak: Fssinister, the Frickster, Frozeen as The Phantom, and the spirit in Greybeard's dream.
* BlackGalOnWhiteGuyDrama: Naomi and Hertz.
* BlackHelicopter: [=ShadowTech=]'s air vehicles are black T-1 Typhoons.
* BlatantLies:
** Elizabeth's story about how she totally did not hijack an Iron Predator and cargo ship in order to get to LEGOIsland.
** Dust's cover-up stories in general.
* BlessedAreTheCheesemakers: One Dino Attack agent dreams about cheese.
* BlindIdiotTranslation: Yes, "von" is the German word for "of", but in the context of a title like "LEGOAdventurers Baron von Barron", it does not mean "Baron of Barron". "Baron von Barron" refers to a baron whose name is Barron, not a baron of a place called Barron. However, seeing as Sam's surname is definitely Sinister, since it is also his sister Alexia's maiden name, this "Blind Idiot" Translation was done intentionally as a means to canonize both names for the character. And, seeing as Barron is essentially "Expy not-Germany", it might make some sense that some German words do not mean quite the same thing in Barron, meaning that "Baron von Barron" might mean "Baron of Barron" in Barron.
* BlindWithoutEm: Zach's field of vision is extremely limited without glasses.
** Subverted while Zach was a Stromling. The Maelstrom presumably improved his eyesight, defeating the purpose of glasses.
* BlondGuysAreEvil:
** Agent Ghost ended up being a Stromling.
** Oswald Fabello ended up a XERRD mercenary.
** Carl Lutsky turned out to be a narcissistic and murderous jerk driven by his lust for revenge against Dust.
* BloodFromTheMouth:
** After being shot by Lutsky, coughed up blood. True to the trope, it was fatal.
** was coughing up blood after being fatally shot by Michelle Glados.
* BloodKnight: Ronald E. Army.
* BloodlessCarnage:
** For the most part, blood and gore has been kept down to minimum.
*** Of course, one way you could look at it is that there is blood and some degree of gore, but it just is not usually described in depth.
** The Einstein Device wiped out an entire army of Mutant Dinos without shedding a single drop of blood.
* BodyBackupDrive: Katerina Schattenberg has at least two of these, the first one being Kat, and the second one currently in use.
* BolivianArmyEnding: A number of Dino Attack agents whose players dropped out shortly after joining, such as [=GoldEagle=], Jordan, Spark, and Zap, were last seen on this note.
* BookEnds: A surprising, yet completely unintentional, meta example. Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG, which introduced [=PeabodySam=] to PlayByPostGames and thus directly led to the creation of Dino Attack RPG, its SpiritualSuccessor, was started on December 21, 2004. Dino Attack: At War's End finally ended on December 21, 2012. Things truly do come full circle after all.
* BootCampEpisode: A short flashback in which James [=McGregor=] recalls an incident during his training, which apparently took place in a boot camp straight out of FullMetalJacket.
* BornAsAnAdult: When Frozeen was reborn after Dr. Rex's fatal Choke Hold, he was restored to a 6-year-older version of his pre-G.E. Body self.
* BossSubtitles: A few were given to Dr. Rex, including Mutant Tyrant Lizard King and Evil Madman.
* BothSidesHaveAPoint: Specs' perspective on the conflicting views of the Dino Attack Team's elite agents.
* BottomlessMagazines:
** Zig-Zagged with Dino Attack weapons. Just how often is the team seen reloading their weapons? And yet, occasionally a Sonic Screamer or Cosmotronic Ray will run low or even out of ammo.
** Averted by Clint Wayne, who's revolver realistically only holds six shots and he usually has to stop and reload.
** Most of the team's pirates use flintlock pistols, which are only capable of firing a single shot before one has to clean the barrel, place more gunpowder into the chamber before shoving a tiny metal ball inside. They're not usually seen to reload, but a logical justification is that people like Greybeard simply have multiple pistols so that they can keep shooting while under fire.
* BountyHunter: Silencia Venomosa and Van Cleef.
* BoxedCrook: Snake.
* BrainUploading: Katerina Schattenberg practiced this.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Kotua during his betrayal.
* BreadEggsMilkSquick: The only Mutant Dino phrases that Dromus understands are "yes", "no", and "back away now, or I'll kill you".
* BreakTheCutie: Kate Bishop somewhat, but moreso with Jenny.
* BreakTheHaughty: Sam Race wasn't ever haughty, per se, but he was very confident in his own abilities. His failed rescue attempt of Greybeard and King Race, which resulted in King Race's death, really broke Sam Race.
* BreakingTheFourthWall:
** When Aster Oid's memory card gets dusty, he doesn't just break the fourth wall; he demolishes it.
** Dr. Cyborg managed to see through the fourth wall when he downloaded too much information in the XERRD fortress.
** LeaningOnTheFourthWall:
*** When talking about Stromlings, Trigger told his companions to "forget everything you've seen in text-based RPGs" and proceeded to explain how a person who was a Stromling is practically dead, and love doesn't work. It's ironic when one considers that he is in a text-based RPG and there actually was a character who overcame his Stromling infection through the power of love. Of course to be fair it might be that the latter was just a once-in-a-lifetime case that only occurs with true, genuine love, and that such a thing does not happen very often, in which case his statement still makes sense.
*** For reasons he cannot explain, Zachary Virchaus cannot bring himself to say the word "idiot", censoring the word with the phrase "cool dude".
*** In a conversation played both for laughs and drama, Shaw, talking about her faith, mentioned "[=PeabodySam=]" as a possible deity.
** MediumAwareness:
*** Although Trigger slightly touched upon this when he Leaned on the Fourth Wall, Aster Oid is the only one who figured out that he was actually in a text-based roleplay game (and, before that, a polygon-based videogame).
** NoticingTheFourthWall:
*** Again, when Aster Oid's memory card is dusty.
* BreakThemByTalking: Many of [[spoiler:the Darkitect's illusions]] employ this trope, and some of them even succeeded in reducing their victims to Heroic BSODs.
* BreathWeapon:
** Fire-breathing Mutant Lizards.
** Mutant T-Rexes that have been mutated beyond their normal capabilities tend to use this trope. For example, both Tex and Crunchbite, who were mutated by Green Goo exposure, and Dr. Rex, who was possessed by the Maelstrom.
** Sauro-Hunter exhibited this power in his early days.
* BreatherEpisode: A few of these have taken place, including Atton Rand's focus on the antics of Enter and Return after LEGO Island was sent into the Torn World.
* TheBrigadier: A number of Elite Agents.
* BroadStrokes: How Dino Attack RPG treats the canon of various Toys/LEGOThemes, along with fan works such as Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG, LEGO Island 3, and FanFic/LMS. This is even how, in its later years, it treats its own early canon.
* BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu:
** Pterisa's lightning bolt barely even hurt , and was more akin to Flipping Off Cthulhu than Punching Out Cthulhu.
** The team did eventually expel the Maelstrom from the planet, but much like Cthulhu it is still very much alive and could come again. Additionally, half the cast died in the process of achieving that temporary victory, as well as the fact that Kate, Sam Race, Sarah Bishop, and untold numbers of other survivors were severely traumatized by the experience.
* BrokenBird: Silencia Venomosa/Amanda Claw bares some traits of a BrokenBird.
* BuiltWithLEGO: The Dino Attack RPG takes place on a planet literally called the LEGO Planet.
* BullyingADragon: Greybeard, King Joseph Race, and Sam Race tried to anger and confuse Dr. Rex by driving circles around him and taking turns firing at him. Lampshaded by Laxus, who knew that it would not end well.
* BuryYourGays:
** Samantha Orange died before Dino Attack RPG even began.
** Averted by her girlfriend, however. Andrea Jackson and Maria made it through the war okay, even if they only got together at the very end.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: For Schiess, the day Silencia Venomosa killed his team was the most important day of his life. But for Silencia Venomosa... it was Tuesday.
* ButHeSoundsHandsome: [[spoiler:Subverted.]] When discussing TheMole, Spy described him as a "master at the art of infiltrating" and a "skilled master of spies". This immediately caused Sgt. Ronald Army to suspect that Spy was really talking about himself. [[spoiler:He wasn't.]]
-->Ronald Army: "Spy was obviously the spy! He gave himself away! Oh, he thought he was so tricky and smart, speaking in third-person, but no one would show so much respect towards a cowardly murderer unless that cowardly murderer was himself!"
* ButYourWingsAreBeautiful: Although Pterisa is very insecure about her appearance, numerous Dino Attack agents have comforted her. Specifically, Dr. Cyborg invoked this trope and Rex even referred to it by name.
* ButtMonkey:
** Plastic Serpent just can't seem to go anywhere without getting beaten up by Snake.
** French Fries was specifically brought back to serve such a role (so that players could get back at him for all the trouble he put them through in the LEGOIsland arc, though Atton Rand didn't expect it to be quite as... brutal as his comeuppance ended up being).

* CainAndAbel: Minerva and Oswald Fabello's sibling relationship became strained over the fact they fight for different causes.
* CallBack:
** Elizabeth claimed she could drive an Iron Predator because she once tried to steal one, referencing her rather controversial theft of an Iron Predator in order to get to LEGOCity harbor early in the LEGOIsland arc.
** In a case used to emphasize a man's stress, Pierce briefly became determined to operate on Amanda. This was intentionally written to set up a miraculous healing like Atton Rand had attempted with Kat. However, it was handled more realistically this time, as Pierce is implied to simply be under stress (which makes sense given he is dealing with massive numbers of casualties at once) and maybe not thinking clearly, as well as the fact that Shaw realistically points out that before putting her on the operating table. Unfortunately, Atton Rand had tried to invoke AnachronicOrder a bit too early, leading to some confusion among his fellow players and forcing this otherwise emotional event to be Retconned into CanonDiscontinuity.It also did not help that Atton Rand seemed surprised to learn that Amanda was still out in the battlefield in a situation where it would be impossible to recover her body.
* CallingTheOldManOut: Oswald told off Athena as a horrible mother just before shooting her.
* TheCameo: Tons of Cameo appearances of characters from everyone's favorite LEGOThemes took place in Antarctica to support Greybeard's effort to end the riots.
* Canada: This is where Commander Johnson is from.
* CanisLatinicus: While lacertilia is Latin, the rest of the Hybrids' species names (quasifigus, pterisa, tyrannus, and velosis) are simply made-up vaguely-Latin-sounding names."Quasifigus" is a portmanteau of "quasi" and "minifigure", while "pterisa", "tyrannus", and "velosis" are corruptions of "pterosaur", "tyrannosaur", and "velociraptor", respectively.
* CannonFodder: Just about every Mutant Dino and unnamed Dino Attack agent.
* CannotSpitItOut: Frozeen still loves Shannon, but could not bring himself to say it out loud prior to the final battle.
* CanonDiscontinuity:
** Much material from the RPG's early days, ranging from Lord Sam Sinister going blind to the infamous Franchise/BIONICLE XMeetsY Meets Exo-Force RPG incident, has been retconned into CanonDiscontinuity if it cannot be reimagined.
** At one point in the Alpha Team: Ogel's Last Stand RPG, a man named Bishop was among the trainees learning to defend himself against fresh fruit. He mentioned having a wife and a daughter around the age of twelve. This was initially a reference to Kate (who is in her late teens in the Dino Attack RPG, and probably would have been somewhere around the age of 11 or 12 at the time). However, this is no longer canon due to Kate's backstory revealing Sarah Bishop to be a single mother.
** At one point, Amanda was revealed to be Telepathy telepathic for shock value. It didn't work and was immediately retconned into discontinuity.
** Atton Rand's Deconstruction of VideoGame/LEGOIsland. That is all.
* CanonWelding: After the death of Pirates RPG, its continuity became welded with that of Dino Attack RPG.
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: spoiler:The main reason Baron Typhonus stepped in with his DivineIntervention to save Dr. Rex from death. He would not so easily let his strongest tether to LEGO Planet simply die, even if that meant keeping said tether in a perpetual FateWorseThanDeath.
* CaptainCrash: This is why you should never let Sam Throramebi drive.
* CaptainErsatz:
** Clint Wayne is pretty much a CaptainErsatz of The Man With No Name
** Dude, Walter, and Donnie are more or less Ersatzes of the main characters in Film/TheBigLebowski.
** The entire Second Headquarters Squad is based off of the main cast of Videogame/TeamFortress2. All they're missing is a mysterious voice to tell them how much time they have left in their missions.
** While the Second Headquarters Squad is heavily inspired by the Team Fortress 2 cast but intended to be separate characters (for example, although very similar, there are quite a few distinctions between Jane Doe's Soldier and Ronald E. Army's Soldier), Chaos is for all intents and purposes the Chaos from the SonicTheHedgehog series. Right down to seven Chaos Emeralds hidden around the globe that transform Chaos into Perfect Chaos.
** Most XERRD scientists are CaptainErsatz versions of science-oriented characters from various forms of media, ranging from Dr. Wily from VideoGame/MegaMan to GLaDOS from Videogame/Portal; from Professor Elvin Gadd of Franchise/SuperMarioBros to Ze Professor from VideoGame/ConkersBadFurDay; from Dr. O'Brien of Literature/NineteenEightyFour to Dr. Insano of WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment.
** Cranky and Kiddy are Dino Attack RPGs versions of Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong. Marco Martinet is a CaptainErsatz of Mario, Louie Martinet of Luigi, Pearl of Peach, Primrose of Paulina, Rosalie Mercedes of Rosalina... so on and so forth.
** In one particularly confusing case, Atton Rand introduced a CaptainErsatz that got repeatedly mistaken for an Expy of an entirely different character. Many of his fellow players believed Snake to be an Expy of Solid Snake from Franchise/MetalGear rather than Snake Plissken from Film/EscapeFromNewYork. To be fair, Solid Snake himself is a homage to Snake Plissken, so similarities are inevitable.
** Now we've got a cast of CaptainErsatz characters from Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer... who were introduced solely because of a character named Giles (who wasn't even related to the show, but rather named after the character from Theatre/TheCrucible).
** More or less the case with Baldrick. However, Series/Blackadder is based around history in general (with each season set in a different time period of British History) meaning that his namesake is not so much one character as a whole bunch of identical grandsons, although if anything Agent Baldrick is probably closest to the version of his namesake seen in Blackadder Goes Forth (from which his "escape kit" was inspired).
** Walker, Lovhaug, and Dr. Insano are all CaptainErsatz versions of Website/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses characters.
* CaptainSmoothAndSergeantRough: Many of the Elite Agents, particularly people like Rex and Zenna are known to try and operate in a humane manner as much as possible, trying to balance their objectives with doing what is best for those under there command. Then you got people like Rotor and Lutsky, who are known to be a lot more aggressive in their strategies, sometimes even placing their ultimate objective over the lives of their men.
* CardCarryingVillain: Ogel, the Brickster, Vladek, Sam Sinister, and Dr. Inferno. Ogel, Vladek, and Dr. Inferno are part of the Control sphere, and the Brickster falls under the Destruction sphere; while Sam Sinister sees himself as a villain and fits the CardCarryingVillain trope, he does not fall under any of the three main spheres, as his main motivation is personal greed.
* CarnivoreConfusion: For the most part, we have seen little interaction between carnivores and herbivores. The most we have seen is a T-Rex, four Minifigs, and a pterosaur in the same room, and said T-Rex did not eat or attack any of her fellow roommates, which may invoke (but not necessarily confirm) the idea that non-mutant carnivores are abnormally civil.
** A T-Rex and a Minifig (for example, Chompy and Frozeen, the unnamed T-Rex and Taglong, the other unnamed T-Rex and Zachary) will often get along, never mind the fact that, under more realistic circumstances, the T-Rex would likely see the Minifig as prey. However, Chompy can be a brutal predator when he wants to be, an unnamed female T-Rex seemed opposed to helping Minifigs (which, in a case of Fridge Brilliance, she may see as her prey), the other unnamed T-Rex killed Gonnerman, and the queen T-Rex was eager to tear Mr. Cunningham apart on the spot.
** Let's not forget that Rex was in fact a Tyrannosaurus rex, and yet he's perfectly fine around herbivores. Although, to be fair, Rex has not really been around herbivores since before the Dino Attack (the closest he has been is watching a Triceratops stampede), and his dinosaur instincts were suppressed by XERRD experiments. Not to mention that he is, in fact, no longer a T-Rex.
*** Although, it is worth noting that shortly before the freak accident that switched Rex and Dr. Rex's bodies, Rex attacked Dr. Rex and picked him up with his maw. If Rex had not been still reeling from a prior Sonic Screamer attack, would Rex have done to Dr. Rex what any true T-Rex would have done?
** PredatorsAreMean: There are four main types of mutant dinosaurs (two of which technically aren't actually dinosaurs), all of which are carnivorous breeds. There have been no known sightings of a Mutant Triceratops, a Mutant Stegosaurus, or Mutant Brontosaur.
* Catchphrase: Walter has a habit of shouting "SHUT THE ZNAP UP DONNIE!"
* TheCavalry:
** The Adventurers' Island dinosaurs and [=TumTum=] tribesmen in during the battle for the Pharaoh's Forbidden Ruins.
** Alpha Team, the Rogue Knights, Emperor Chang Wu's fleet, and Ogel's forces during the FinalBattle.
** A villainous example from the same battle: the Fright Knights.
* CavalryBetrayal: The Hybrids arrived to help the Dino Attack Team in the Goo Caverns, but one of the Hybrids captured Rex so Dr. Rex could lure the team into a trap. Later, they arrived to aid the Dino Attack Team in the Torn World, and then immediately revealed their true allegiance to XERRD after the battle was over.
* CelibateHero: Holly Vinyaya was this in the Space Police.
* CerebusSyndrome: Big time. While the RPG's early days were far from Light and Soft, there was a definite gradual shift to a much darker and more serious tone over the course of the RPG's lifetime.
** [=PeabodySam=] and Atton Rand both had Cerebus Syndromes of their own, as they both started with very idealistic characters who usually ended up in amusingly absurd situations, and by the RPG's end, their writing was far darker and much more mature and cynical in tone.
* ChainPain: Dromus's weapon of choice. Used to be Amanda's weapon of choice, but after her ReTool which made her less of a Dromus Expy, she dropped the ChainPain in favor of being a KnifeNut.
* ChairReveal: PBB was introduced through one of these.
* ChaoticStupid: Baldrick.
* CharacterCustomization: Every little trait, be it personality or physical, is up to the players.
* CharacterExaggeration:
** A minor note in the LEGO Island Comic Adventures stated that the Brickster wished to be as evil as Evil Ogel. In Dino Attack RPG, the Brickster has been exaggerated to the point of being Ogel's self-proclaimed #1 fanboy.
** Especially in Atton Rand and imperial officer's posts, Enter and Return have been exaggerated to the point that the only jokes they are capable of are variations of their "stretcher, megaphone, shark, tree, umbrella, and mailbox" sketch. In some other peoples' posts, their humor extends a little farther (for example, in one of [=PeabodySam=]'s posts, they were arguing about the color of their shirts), but for the most part, we only hear jokes about bringing a shark.
** In the non-canon scene where Papa Brickolini was arrested by the Nick Brick, the Brickolinis were exaggerated heavily. In the original games, the Brickolinis spoke with a light Italian accent and accidentally freed the Brickster twice (and the second time, they were GenreSavvy enough to try to prevent it from happening again). In this scene, the Brickolinis' Italian accents were turned UpToEleven, and the two chefs were depicted as completely oblivious as they incompetently freed the Brickster again and again over the years by constantly sending super-spicy pizzas to the jail, even after what happened the first two times.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn:
** In the Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG, [=PeabodySam=] made an explicit point stating that PBB would never be killed off. A year later, PBB was killed off in the Dino Attack RPG.
** Rex was originally introduced as the ultimate idealist, who mourned the death of a random Mutant T-Rex he accidentally killed. As Characterization Marched On, the horrors of war eventually drove Rex to a considerably more cynical outlook.
** Stranger was going to be more of a tough, no-nonsense kind of hunter person (not unlike Titan, who in retrospect seems more like a Suspiciously Similar Substitute), but his snide remarks about the ludricousness of the situations he found himself in came to define his more humorous LampshadeHanging attitude.
** Rotor was initially introduced in the Alpha Team RPG as a companion to Zenna whose primary role was simply that of a helicopter pilot who could get her and other agents to and from places. While he may still have been a little over-enthusiastic about his job, he was still taking orders and a lot less aggressive, even saving the life of a stranded agent. Then he was introduced to the Dino Attack RPG, where he was suddenly leading squads of helicopters and even attempting to operate behind the backs of his superiors, becoming the tough, battle-hardened, aggressive, classical-music playing Elite Agent with whom most players are familiar.
** Kate was initially set up as something of a rookie with the potential to become an ActionGirl before evolving into a more Deconstruction deconstructive portrayal of a teenager who joined the team never really knowing what she was getting into.
** Hertz was introduced as a disposable agent who could fill in a gap created by Reptile's removal. While intended as a character who could easily be killed off, Hertz has gained a notable role in the RPG since his introduction.
** Garry was originally conceived as a far more brutal character who would not only torture the XERRD prisoners alongside Rotor but blackmail Copper into keeping quiet about their actions. Eventually Atton's posts started to humanize him, making the character somewhat more sympathetic and likeable.
** When Jenny first appeared, she was described as being "slightly older than Kate". Given that Kate is 18, that would have put Jenny around 19-20. Later posts implied her to be younger, around 12-14.
** Pierce was originally considered as a love interest for Zenna before his backstory with Kate made Sarah Bishop into his love interest.
** In a similar situation as Rex, Dr. Cyborg started off a a very idealist agent, thanks to his XERRD background. However, as the game went on, this devolved until it wasn't mentioned much at all.
* ChasedByAngryNatives: Dust and Zachary had to work together to escape angry [=TumTum=] tribesmen after the former escaped their village. This an interesting variation on the trope, since they could not afford to attack the natives, even in self-defense, or else risk forever losing their chances of gaining Achu's allegiance.
* ChasteHero: Nazareno.
* ChastityCouple: Zach and Minerva; even while spending the night outside in midwinter -- a situation in which cuddling would have been not only heartwarming, but practical -- they roll away from one another before going to sleep.
* ChekhovsGun:
** The T-1 Typhoon that was left in the desert after Zenna and George were attacked by Natives ended up having a brief but important role in driving an invading army of Mutant Dinosaurs out of the Dino Attack Team's camp on Adventurers' Island.
** Shortly before the Goo Caverns mission, it was established that Dino Attack Team began developing a weapon powerful enough to destroy an entire army without leveling a city. Think this is going to be important sometime in the future?
** Hotwire's PDA malfunctioned after Kat's death. Turns out that's what happens when a human consciousness stores itself in a pocket-sized communication device.
** ChekhovsBoomerang: The return of Ata during the VideoGame/LEGOIsland story arc, during which time he found the Constructopedia. And again, Ata became important just before the final battle... [[spoiler:when it was revealed that he was a mole working for XERRD.]]
** ChekhovsGag:
*** Ben Gunn's "That cake is a lie" was nothing more than an amusing line at first... [[spoiler:that Rex later remembered and helped him break away from the Darkitect's illusions.]] Similarly, Frozeen's insanity from the Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG had a brief relapse to grant him InsanityImmunity.
*** The idea of a cyborg Mutant T-Rex was first brought up by Laxus as a joke while he was riffing Dino Cop with Andrew, Joike, Pterisa, and Dr. Cyborg before the FinalBattle. In the Final Battle itself, Cyrista's Bane showed up... and nobody was laughing at the joke anymore.
** ChekhovsGunman:
*** Ghost was character that rode on a Fire Hammer with Minerva to the rear guard camp. After Brikman [=McStudz=] reread the Dino Attack RPG and remembered the existence of Ghost, he reintroduced him as being a spy for the Maelstrom for his entire existence.
*** Loop was initially an unnamed Inferno henchman who framed Kat and B for murder, only to later return and be revealed as part of [=ShadowTech=].
*** Ata, at first, was a seemingly-random unnamed communications expert who thought his GPS was glitching. He ended up helping Rex and Amanda return to the Dino Attack Team. Then, he became a ChekhovsBoomerang... twice.
*** Oh, Frank Einstein. Started off as a seemingly-random extra, ascended to .
*** Matthew Vherestorm was just some guy apart of Nazareno's past. As the final battle rolled around, he was revealed to have reformed as Blaire Darkling, a member of XERRD.
** ChekhovMIA:
*** Ben Gunn, who became M.I.A. at the end of the Goo Caverns mission only to return after the Adventurers' Island mission to warn the Dino Attack Team about the upcoming final battle.
*** returned to save Rex in the final battle after being M.I.A. for six years, seven months, and seven days (in real-time).
** ChekhovsVolcano: Rather early in the Goo Caverns mission, it was established that Quadrant 14 was home to some rather unstable volcanoes. Guess what erupted at the end of the mission?
* ChessMotifs: A few of them surrounding, you'd never believe this, Wallace Bishop. Especially in the way that and his declaration that, sometimes, "the bishop must be sacrificed" to win.
* TheChessmaster:
** Cam O'Cozy, who intentionally created a violent feud between the idealist and realist sides of the team (simply taking advantage of a high period of tension between them at the time), with the ultimate goal of destroying the team. Of course one could also go a step farther and label Dr. Rex himself as such, seeing as he had planted Cam O'Cozy along with some Maelstrom-infected bricks to achieve that goal.
** The original Chaos served as TheChessmaster controlling Kotua's actions for much of the early Dino Attack in a grand scheme to get its revenge on the Alpha Team agent and free itself from its Mayan prison.
** Dust has had a master plan for some time considering his plains to take the temple of Hotep III ranging from dropping care packages for himself on strategic points across the island, blackmailing members of the D.A., infiltrating the XERRD base and destroying critical data, and falsely translating the blueprints to the temple.
** Agent Cane, who surruptitiously hijacked all of Katerina Schattenberg's work in order to settle a feud that started a generation before him.
** Then there's Palmer, who tricked Garry both into leading him to the source of the Maelstrom (essentially making him a super-Stromling of sorts, especially now that Zach was cured and Ahua is dead, leaving him to take their places) and made his fellow teammates paranoid to the extent that one of them was murdered... by Garry himself.
** The ultimate Chessmaster of the entire Dino Attack is [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus. He manipulated XERRD into creating the Dino Attack in the first place and led Lord Sam Sinister into the Maelstrom Temple with the Maelstrom Crystal, to name a few examples. Even after being defeated at the Maelstrom Temple, Baron Typhonus had a back-up plan to possess Dr. Rex's body.]]
* ChildSoldiers:
** Kate is occasionally seen as one. Technically she's in her late teens, but that is still fairly young when compared to the other agents, most of whom are a lot older.
** Interestingly, there are thirteen other agents that are officially eighteen-years (three that are Elite Agents) and they are not seen as ChildSoldiers.
** In the Dino Attack RPGs early days, there were numerous players whose primary characters were ChildSoldiers as young as 9 years old. This was something that [=PeabodySam=] had not considered when he made the Dino Attack RPGs sign-up form, so he later altered the form to state that primary characters had to be at least 18 years old. The ChildSoldiers were later retconned to be 17 years old and lying about their age when listed in the Dino Attack Team/Agents page on the wiki.
* ChokeHolds:
** Dr. Rex once used one against Frozeen, surprisingly while the latter was in a G.E. Body, to intimidate the other prisoners. Later, he Choke Held Frozeen again, and this time actually strangled him to death.He got better, though.
** In its final moments, the Brickspider Bot v1.0 had one against Rex and nearly succeeded in killing the Dino Attack agent.
** Minerva received one from Ahua which involved the Maelstrom choking her as well. She was only saved when Zach refused to watch her die.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome:
** This has happened to many characters when the player controlling them leaves the RPG.
** Axle had a notable role in the RPG as a member of the Dino Attack Team, something nobody seems to remember anymore.
** There was also Trouble, who was a major character at one point before inexplicably vanishing, and [=PeabodySam=] openly refused to bring him back [[spoiler:because he was secretly saving Trouble for the final battle]].
** Mort, until he returned during the hunt for TheMole.
** This nearly happened to Septimus several times.
** "Gene Rick," the body-swapped XERRD scientist whom Andrew and Laxus rescued, got dropped shortly before Zach's camp ambush.
* CirclingMonologue:
** Kotua gave one of these to Rex, who was lying paralyzed on the floor.
** Loop gave one to Swerve before mutating him with a Mind-Control Orb.
* Claustrophobia: Implied to be the case with A.J. Orange, explaining why she suffers from hallucinations when wearing Pyromaniac her father's gas mask.
* ClimbingClimax: At the end of the FinalBattle, Dr. Rex climbed to the top of Dino Attack Headquarters and battled against Dino Attack's T-1 Typhoon fleet.
* CloudCuckooLander:
** Ben Gunn, who was suffering from senility during his time in the Goo Caverns.
** Subverted with Cam O'Cozy, who was initially set up as such a character, but the later revelation of him being an android would suggest that this was just a ruse.
** Wallace Bishop (the one locked up in Napoleon XIV Mental Institution in Antarctica).
** When Frozeen goes insane, it's the CloudCuckooLander type of insanity. He believes that everyone around him is a leprechaun out to steal his gold; the cows must be defeated to save the monkeys; and everything has to do with Mexican food.
** Athena Fabello comes across as this, primarily when meeting Oswald and Blaire in Napoleon XIV and as a nineteen-year-old.
** When wearing a helmet, Andrea Jackson Orange thinks that she's in a SugarBowl setting populated by cute baby dinosaurs as a result of hallucinations she experienced while suffering from claustrophobia in a makeshift bunker for who-knows-how-long.
* ClusterFBomb:
** Trigger is a walking Cluster [=MegaBlok=]-Bomb.
** One agent on the comm chatter dropped a bomb following [[spoiler:Dr. Rex's revival]].
* TheCoconutEffect: Many inaccuracies regarding the nature of dinosaurs and Mutant Dinosaurs are intentionally preserved in Dino Attack RPG to accurately follow its source material.
* ColdBloodedTorture: Rotor beating the living daylights out of an already terrified and confused child. How much of it was for information and how much was just Rotor being Rotor is up to the reader's interpretation.
* ColdSniper:
** Sniper.
** A guard at the XERRD Fortress who briefly caused Rotor's attacking force some trouble.
** Barry Jackson can also come across as one at times, at least whenever he's actually sniping.
* ColonelKilgore:
** Rotor. The trope-naming character was a major inspiration, right down to his frequent habit of playing classical music while attacking his enemies.
** Ronald E. Army, to some extent, could also be considered an example.
* ColourCodedForYourConvenience: Green Mutant Lizards are camouflage, red Mutant Lizards are fire-breathing, yellow Mutant Lizards are acid-spitting, purple Mutant Lizards are stealth, and black Mutant Lizards are darkness.
* CombatMedic: Zenna, Medic, and Marco Martinet.
* CombatTentacles: Paulie Gonepus has these of the robotic kind.
* CommandRoster: The Elite Agents working operating on Adventurers' Island. Rex serves more or less as the Captain as well as a CunningLinguist, Zenna serves as TheHeart, Rotor is the Marine, Hertz is the CommunicationsOfficer, Rotor and Cabin both serve as Ace Pilots, and they have a small but helpful medical staff including a psychologist.
* CommunicationsOfficer: Ata, Hertz, Windows, Bluetooth, and Shannon Gromtin.
* CommonTongue: Dust talks to Skeleton Mummies. Also see AnimalTalk.
* ConflictBall: Idealists versus realists, especially during Digger's revolt, although that was justified due to Digger's emotions being manipulated by the Maelstrom.
* ConservationOfNinjutsu:
** A possible explanation regarding the notable difference in strength between Stromling Agents and Stromling Explorers. There are rarely more than one or two Stromling Agents on-screen at a time, and they prove very hard to defeat. Stromling Explorers almost always act as a group, leaving them as nothing more than CannonFodder.
** Even noticeable with common Mutant Dinos. Compare how hard it is to kill one Mutant Raptor versus an entire pack of Mutant Raptors.
* ConspiracyRedemption:
** After hanging out with Cam O'Cozy and French Fries, Zenna helped leak information regarding the Antarctica mission and inadvertently caused riots and an idealist-realist conflict of escalated violence. However, she redeemed herself through working quickly and efficiently to defeat Cam O'Cozy, who was fueling the fires of the idealist-realist conflict, and provide medical aid to those injured in the riots, and received a promotion to Elite Agent as a result.
** Tracer was part of a group of realist agents supporting O'Cozy, but managed to redeem himself by working with Hotwire.
* ContinuityCavalcade: In many ways, the final battle, especially due to the comm chatter.
* ContinuityDrift:
** The Brickspider Bot v1.0 initially denied any connections to Dr. Inferno and referred to the MadScientist as a "pitiful fool". When writing later plot developments, [=PeabodySam=] forgot about this detail and revealed that the Brickspider Bot was an ally of Dr. Inferno.
** Atton Rand says that Baldrick was hired by Dino Attack Team as an example of showing how desperate Dino Attack is, to the point where they'd be willing to hire total lunatics. Yet, Atton Rand also stated that Dino Attack Team rejected Dude for having a stupid codename. Uh... which one is true? The Dino Attack Team that would be willing to hire anyone would not reject someone just for such an inconsequential reason. These two depictions are mutually exclusive, and yet, according to Atton Rand, they're both true...?
* ContinuityNod:
** Rex and Reptile used Iron Predators to defend a power station from a Mutant T-Rex attack, which culminated in the arrival of the founding members in a T-1 Typhoon to save the day and drive the T-Rexes back across the river. This whole scene was a ContinuityNod to a battle described on the LEGODinoAttack website.
** In the Ugalego temple, there was a wrecked Scorpion Orb Launcher. The last time a Scorpion Orb Launcher was seen on LEGOAdventurers Adventurers' Island was early in the Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG, during the same mission that ended with Frozeen adopting Chompy.
** The T-1 Typhoon battle against Dr. Rex and the occasional Mutant Pterosaur atop a burning Dino Attack Headquarters was modeled after the box art for the T-1 Typhoon set.Although, in the RPG, Specs and Viper are in a separate T-1 Typhoon from the one flown by Shadow and Digger.
** According to Frozeen, aside from a mishap involving a billboard and a stray Mutant Raptor, reconstruction of LEGOCity has been going smoothly. The incident involving the billboard and Mutant Raptor was a reference to a comic in LEGO Brickmaster Magazine's November-December 2005 issue.
** The celebration on LEGO Island is full of these, sure to please any long-time fan of the series.
* ContinuityPorn: With over seven years of canon, plus references to other [=RPGs=] and numerous LEGOThemes, it's not hard to get overwhelmed by all the canon in Dino Attack RPG.
* ConvectionSchmonvection: Lord Sam Sinister could stand at the edge of a volcanic crater with boiling lava below him without any sort of heat-resistant suit.
* CoolAirship: Although Dino Attack RPG has seen a large number of these in its early days, including PBB's Airship, the Saber, Villains Headquarters, and the Iron Hammer, the Voltage will always stand out in the minds of Dino Attack RPGs early players as one of the definitive traits of the early Dino Attack RPG experience.
* CoolMask: Specs always wears a balaclava.
* CoolOldGuy: Solomon is in his eighties. General, Ben Gunn, and Frank Einstein are in their late seventies. Greybeard is supposedly older than everyone else, as part of a running joke.According to WordOfGod, Greybeard is at least ninety years old.
* CoolShades: Blaire Darkling always wears dark, reflective sunglasses presumably after an accident during the creation of the Mutant Dinos. Trigger also wears them sometimes, as does Viper, Pharisee, and Rotor. True to his inspiration, Paulie Gonepus also wears Cool Shades.
* TheCoronerDothProtestTooMuch: Variation... er... sort of, though the victim in question wasn't actually murdered so much as hidden and too frightened to say anything. To see that Jenny gets proper medical attention without Copper finding out that she'd been deliberately tortured, Garry explained that she tried to escape (she was after all, a prisoner), ran into him, and put up a fight, so he simply acted in self-defense. Somewhat subverted in that he ended up eventually confessing to Copper anyway.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive:
** Walter Breen, especially during his days as administrator of Brick League United. Even after he left the company, he retained many traits of a CorruptCorporateExecutive.
** Cane had a bit of this in him as well, though in his early characterization by Kotua in Space, he was more of a ColonelKilgore.
** UŠrlig Sindstorme and Edward Korrupte seem to be examples of such, given that they're willing to hire bounty hunters, criminals, mercenaries, and any other form of hired gun to perform armed robberies against each other (which has gotten a few innocent people killed), not to mention the fact that Sindstorme seemed genuinely pleased when his hired guns set up the murder of an innocent bystander as a tragic accident (though it might have been more because he expected to avoid the potential consequences than it was the murder itself). The reason for all this violence? They're trying to steal each other's products for money.
*** If it wasn't obvious enough, the surname of Dacta's CEO is Danish for "corrupt" and the given name of Mindstorms' president is Danish for "dishonest".
** Implied to be the case with Mr. Bonaparte. He prescribes his patients with "classified" medications, but we have not seen anyone at Napoleon XIV Mental Institution whose mental health has improved under his supervision. Napoleon XIV also has a history of security issues, such as when Wallace Bishop escaped and when Athena Fabello went missing; in the latter case, to avoid bad press and investigations into Napoleon XIV, Mr. Bonaparte wrote a formal letter stating that Athena had passed away.
* TheCorruption: The Maelstrom.
* CowTools:
** The machine that goes "BING!", which, despite being the most expensive machine in Dino Attack Headquarters, has no clear function other than going "BING!".
** For the most part, Enter and Return's arsenal. However, we did once get to see Enter use a shark in CPR, but what they do with trees is anyone's guess.
* CPRCleanPrettyReliable: Averted. Upon being revived by Enter, the first thing Zelda did was vomit in his face.
* CranialProcessingUnit:
** The Brickspider Bot v1.0 can only be disabled by destroying its head. Interestingly, if the head is detached from the body but still intact, the body can still function, but as soon as the head is destroyed, the Brickspider Bot ceases to move.
** Averted by Aster Oid, whose vital innerworkings were located in his torso, not in his head.
* CrateExpectations: Injection needles containing the antidote to XERRD's toxic gases were contained in a crate, which Reptile opened using a crowbar.
* CreatorCameo: avmatoran appeared as Mathew Wise, and several people suspect that Samuel Piaker is actually [=PeabodySam=].
* CreepyMonotone: Michelle Glados.
* CrisisCrossover: If there's a Toys/s that does not take place on another planet, it will likely show up in some form or another in Dino Attack RPG. And even if it takes place on another planet (for example, Life on Mars or Space Police), it still may show up.
* CrossOver: Essentially, the Dino Attack RPG has crossed over with the Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG and the original Pirates RPG.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Ben Gunn.
* CruelMercy: Rex attempted to give this to Dr. Rex, believing that it would be a fate that he deserved.
* CrucifiedHeroShot:
** appearance at his death was partly inspired by the classic death of William Dafoe's character in Film/Platoon.
** When , his arms were raised in a way that put him in a T-position, which might bring forth imagery of the Cross.
* CryIntoChest: Kate while talking to her mother about Frank Einstein's reveal.
* CrypticBackgroundReference: Dino Attack RPG takes place in 2010 and was first started in 2005. Since the details of what would happen over the next five years (in both official LEGO story and in Website/BZPower LEGO RPG story) could not be predicted, [=PeabodySam=] seized the opportunity to make Cryptic Background References regarding the fates of his Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG characters, such as the death of Rebel Drone and the mysterious disappearance of Frozeen. Although some of this background information was intended to be explained by a later Alpha Team RPG (likely Ogel's Last Stand), even in 2012 many questions about what exactly happened in this six-year span between Alpha Team RPG and Dino Attack RPG remain unanswered.
* CueTheSun: Dino Attack RPGs final post ended with sunrise on Adventurers' Island.
* CunningLinguist: Hertz, Frozeen, and PBB.
* CurbStompBattle:
** Amanda vs. Sam Sinister and the Brickster in the subway station, and Frozeen and Libo vs. Lord Vladek in the subway tunnel.
** Rex vs. French Fries and Pharisee vs. French Fries.
** Pharisee vs. Trigger was actually a subversion. For most of the fight, it was definitely a CurbStompBattle, as Pharisee easily overpowered Trigger in the fight. However, it was ultimately subverted because Trigger knocked out Pharisee in the end, emerging as the victor of that fight.
* CurseCutShort:
** General, immediately after discovering the stasis tube of Talia Kaahs. Mind you, this was before the phrase "Son of a MegaBlok" became widely used in the RPG, so at the time it was implied that he did not say "[=MegaBlok=]".
** Just before leaving the Goo Caverns, Greybeard thought about Ben Gunn and, in order to express his pity for the old hermit, was about to describe him as a "poor bastard". Before he could finish the last word, he was cut off.
** Oswald was describing Athena (and by extension, Minerva) with a phrase that would have been ended with a word not appropriate for BZPower BZPower, only to be interrupted by Minerva.
** In a Shout Out to Half-Life 2, Andrew's message to was obscured by Hertz shouting.
* CutawayGag: Just after Greybeard sarcastically mentioned calling the mummy of Pharaoh Hotep III on his cell phone, it briefly cut to Pharaoh Hotep III's mummy grumbling that no one ever calls him on his cell phone.
* TheCutie: Kate.
* Cyborg: Dr. Cyborg, General, and Cyrista's Bane.

* DancePartyEnding: The various parties across the LEGO Planet after the Dino Attack war ended, most notably the celebration on LEGOIsland.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Amanda Claw, General, Scratch, Minerva and Oswald Fabello, Dust, Greybeard, and the list goes on.
* DarkFic: Look at the source material. Now look at Dino Attack RPG. Notice a difference in tone?
* DarkerAndEdgier: Definitely, considering its source material.
* DarkestHour: Did it begin with ? Regardless of where it began, it's certain that the final battle definitely had its DarkestHour.
* DatingCatwoman: While Covert (as well as the rest of the Agents Defense Organization) is not a villain, she served as an antagonist to Magma for at least two years during the inter-agency rivalry between Alpha Team and the Agents. After the Dino Attack, Magma and Covert openly declared their love for one another, making this too explicit to be FoeRomanceSubtext.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Many of Atton Rand's first posts in At War's End were written from the perspective of the staff of Outpost 4, showing their reactions to the mutant dinos' attack on the Rear Guard camp. His primary character Zenna was reduced to little more than one or two passing mentions.
* DeaderThanDisco: In-universe; how Troll Grease views Alpha Team and Rock Raiders.
* DeadlyGas: The toxins in the air vent system of XERRD establishments.
* DeadpanSnarker: Just about every character who does LampshadeHanging, especially Andrewnuva199's characters.
* DeadManSwitch: Demoman's death trap during the mole hunt was set up so that if anything happened to him, the explosives would detonate. Luckily, the explosives were not exactly wired up properly.
* DeathByOriginStory:
** Amadeus and Rosaria Remous, Alfred the butler, and Bricassius all kicked the bucket in Amanda's origin story.
** In the flashback serving as Trigger's origin story, UŠrlig Sindstorme and Edward Korrupte, along with five of the seven people Schiess worked with.
** Isaac and Tod Fabello were both killed in Minerva and Oswald's origin story.
* DeathEqualsEmotion: [[spoiler:Invoked in Dust's death. In his dying moments, he asked his teammates to tell Rockford that it was an honor to work with him and to send his apologies, something that Dust would never have requested in life.]]
* DeathEqualsRedemption:
** teammates went from hating him for tricking them to trying in vain to save his life after he was fatally shot.
** Minerva finally Forgiveness forgave in the latter's dying moments.
* DeathFromAbove:
** Pretty much any combat action once Rotor gets involved. Of course this should hardly come as a surprise to anyone who's seen Film/ApocalypseNow and is familiar with Rotor's inspiration.
** Came in the form of fireballs in December 21, 2010.
* DeathIsDramatic: were both fatally shot, but still able to deliver heartwarming speeches to their loved ones before they died.
** In case, this was actually deliberately invoked. Originally, [=PeabodySam=] considered having her die immediately after being shot, with no parting speech. However, believing that this felt too much like Dropping a Bridge on such an important long-runner character, [=PeabodySam=] decided to opt for DeathIsDramatic instead.
* DeathNotification:
** After J.D.'s death, Wade began writing several letters to J.D.'s family and his old friend Marco Martinet.
** Rex and Specs wrote a letter to Helen Rutherford informing her of the deaths of Scout and Spy.
* DeathSeeker:
** Oswald Fabello started to become this as his insanity began to take hold. He even thanked Minerva for killing him.
** After [[spoiler:being possessed by Baron Typhonus]], Dr. Rex made it his one goal to die as quickly as possible. spoiler:First, he unwillingly followed the Darkitect's orders, hoping that defeating Dino Attack Team would make Typhonus allow him to die. Then, when the Einstein Device was fired at him, Dr. Rex had an ObiWanMoment and did not attempt to dodge.
** After finding out that his mother died in the refugee facilities, decided that he had nothing to live for anymore.
* DecapitatedArmy: The death of Dr. Rex basically negated the threat of the Mutant Dino army. Justified, in that the weapon that took Dr. Rex's life also killed the majority of the Mutant Dinos, and .
* DecapitationPresentation: .
* DeclarationOfProtection: Used mutually between Rex and Amanda. A tragically ironic instance was when Rex said this to Amanda just before their Iron Predator was destroyed by a XERRD missile.
* DeconReconSwitch: Placing the zany paramedics LEGOIsland Enter and Return in the Dino Attack Hospital Wing, where more realistic doctors like Alan Pierce work, resulted in them constantly being called out on their questionable procedures that would never be allowed in a real hospital. However, this Deconstruction was ultimately Reconstruction Reconstructed, as it turned out that Enter and Return's methods, however zany, are still proven to work quite effectively.
* DeepCoverAgent:
* DefeatMeansFriendship: Cyrista's Bane.
* DefectingForLove: Covert, who started as Magma's arch-nemesis and, after LEGOAlphaTeam Alpha Team and LEGOAgents Agents joined forces in the Dino Attack, ultimately fell in love with him.
* DefectorFromDecadence:
** General, Kat, Dr. Strangebrick, Dr. Cyborg, and Solomon Koplowitz.
** Dr. Gadd and Dr. Lee attempted to do this during the final battle, only to learn that XERRD was calling a truce with Dino Attack Team, rendering their defection redundant.
* DelayedExplosion: The explosives that the Brickster set up throughout the Dino Island Laboratory did not detonate until a few seconds after he pushed the button on his remote.
* DeliberateValuesDissonance: Many of the citizens of El Paso are incredibly sexist, a trait inspired by common views during the real Wild West (and pretty much everywhere else during that era).
* DemBones:
** Dino Attack agents turned into skeletons and reanimated by Skeleton Mummies.
** Captain Click and allied Skeleton Drones such as Septimus count as rare non-villain examples.
* Demonization: Realist agents are often depicted as overly aggressive or sometimes even downright evil, especially by Atton Rand. It does not help that Kotua, Cam O'Cozy, and Rotor are some of the most well-known examples of realist agents (although Kotua went insane and O'Cozy was just a ploy). Thankfully, there are a number of exceptions such as Tail and Tracer, who are likeable realist characters.
* DemotedToExtra:
** Atton Rand introduced a number of [=NPCs=] during the Adventurers' Island story arc, resulting in his own primary character being taken out of focus in favor of stories focusing on the various medics and Kate's efforts to fit in with the team.
** While technically they do have a significant part in the story, the four official members of the Dino Attack Team have barely appeared in the RPG.
** Libo, who once appeared frequently in the Dino Attack RPG, has barely been seen or mentioned, especially following the idealist-realist debate. He was finally revealed to have had a Bridge Dropped on Him (literally).
* DependingOnTheWriter:
** Rex is notably more stern and serious when written by Chronicler of Ko-Koro or Brikman [=McStudz=].
** The mood of the RPG can shift from post to post, from dark and serious to goofy and light-hearted. For example, after LEGOIsland entered the Torn World, the mood shifted between Andrew's despair over the destruction of his hometown and the comic relief antics of Enter and Return.
** Small details will often vary from post to post due to different players interpreting things differently. A good example of this would be in the weapons used. [=PeabodySam=] often talks about the characters using "Sonic Screamers" whilst many of Atton Rand's posts describe them to be using standard issue rifles and other conventional weaponry.
** When [=PeabodySam=] writes Stromlings, they are nothing more than weak CannonFodder. When Brikman [=McStudz=] writes Stromlings, they range from mindless minions to cunning, intelligent, and ruthless. When Atton Rand writes Stromlings, they are an elusive monster that seeks to assimilate other life forms in a Borg or Thing-esque manner, and frequently manipulate people against each other by fueling their paranoia.
*** Similarly, Atton Rand's interpretation of the Maelstrom is far more Lovecraftian than what [=NetDevil=] probably intended.
** When Atton Rand writes Heavy, he depicts Heavy as absolutely obsessed with sandwiches. When [=PeabodySam=] writes Heavy, he instead focuses on Heavy's relationship with Medic.
** From the perspective of Andrewnuva199's posts during the final battle, the general outlook on Dino Attack Team's progress in the battle was fairly optimistic. However, things looked much bleaker from the points of view of [=PeabodySam=] and [=TakunuvaC01=].
** A rather noteworthy example is how the post-war world is handled, as most writers believe that a world BuiltWithLEGO will rebuild fairly quickly while Atton Rand wanted a more realistic depiction of a post-war apocalyptic society. This is visible in even minor details; in a post by [=PeabodySam=], Bartholomew Enderson remarked how quickly LEGO City was being rebuilt, and then in a following post by Atton Rand, Carrie Enderson noticed how slowly the construction crews were working.
** Literally every player has their own style. For instance [=PeabodySam=], Brikman [=McStudz=] and Andrewnuva very clearly try to play up the LEGO-based elements in the style of classic LEGO video games. For instance they'll often make explicit reference to actual LEGO pieces (i.e. "And then he grabbed a 2x4 brick"). imperial officer, Atton Rand, and that guy from that show, on the other hand, both tend to downplay the LEGO elements as much as possible, and focus more on creating a more realistic world.
* DerivativeDifferentiation: Dino Attack RPG started off as a near-clone of Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG recycled in Toys/LEGODinoAttack, but eventually adopted its own unique style starting with the introduction of the StoryArc formula.
* DespairEventHorizon:
** Dr. Rex finally crossed this line after
** Oswald Fabello finally lost all hope upon realizing and no matter his plan, both he and his sister would die.
** Rex crossed this line after the death of , as most evidenced by his AntiHero personality and lust for revenge after recovering from his HeroicBSOD.
* DestinationDefenestration: Ogel had a bad habit of doing this to his drones.
* DetachmentCombat:
** Captain Click is able to pull this off.
** Apparently, according to the comm chatter, one of the Flying Legondos participated in the final battle and used this ability.
* Determinator: Silencia Venomosa. Lampshaded by a quote from TheTerminator.
* DeusAngstMachina: [[spoiler:Dr. Rex gets back up, Adventure performs a heroic sacrifice, his Iron Predator is destroyed, Amanda is murdered, and Trouble is BackForTheDead...]] Understatement Rex hasn't been having a good day.
* DeusExMachina: There are many examples, but here are a few notable ones:
** The exact nature of the mysterious voice that Frozeen heard upon death is unclear, but it originated from Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG as a DeusExMachina created by Kotua in Space to restore Kotua's Minifig body through death and revival. It was again used as a Deus Ex Machina to restore Frozeen's Minifig body, and its true nature has not been revealed beyond that which Kotua in Space created (aside from a NeverHeardThatOneBefore moment). Aside from this one example (which was in fact intended to strip Frozeen of his G.E. Body and thus reduce his strength), [=PeabodySam=] does not wish to have this feature reappear in Dino Attack RPG, especially due to its ability to be easily abused (Databoard and Kotua were frequently revived as such in the Alpha Team RPG).
*** Given the context, the mysterious voice might very well be a literal case of DeusExMachina.
*** Spoofed by Atton Rand. When died, the voice retorted by saying it had to take somebody, and claimed to have revived Databoard "like fifty times".
** When the Dino Attack Team arrived at the base of the Ogel's Island volcano, they had no means of ascending the mountainside. Quite conveniently, Reptile's T-1 Typhoon crash-landed into the volcano and dropped off some climbing gear.
** Although set up and foreshadowed several posts before it arrived, the stampeding Triceratops herd that ended the battle for the Aztec Village was Lampshaded as a DeusExMachina. Interestingly, unlike most examples of Lampshading, this was not played for laughs but for drama, since Rex realized that relying on a Deus Ex Machina to save the day is a poor strategy that could easily backfire.
** Defied, in that Rex's plan to travel to the Temple of Creation is in response to all the DeusExMachina examples of the past, intending to avert yet another Deus Ex Machina saving the day. Unfortunately, due to the UnspokenPlanGuarantee, Rex was punished for defying Deus Ex Machina.
* DeusExScuseMe:
** When Rex and Chompy were captured and held in the Dino Island Laboratory, Dr. Rex was conveniently brought out of the room to interrogate another batch of prisoners, giving them their opportunity to break free. Then, said batch of prisoners were also able to escape when Dr. Rex was, again, conveniently led away by Libo in disguise.
** Amanda's search for "Gun" left Rex alone in the headquarters lobby, allowing the Second Headquarters Squad to rush in and drag him into their mole hunt without Amanda's intervention.
** Numerous times, Ben Gunn conveniently exits the scene just before Frozeen enters, preventing readers from ever confirming that one theory regarding Ben Gunn's true identity.
* DiabolusExMachina:
** While not actually the end of the story, the conclusion to the LEGO Island StoryArc was a fairly joyous moment (at least from the point of view of those in the Torn World, who didn't know what was happening outside- for others it would have been more of a BittersweetEnding). They finally got out of the Torn World, LEGO Island is restored, and the Brickspider Bot is gone for good. Then all of a sudden the hybrids turned against the team and things got pretty dark.
** Andrew's "dark conciousness" reappearing virtually out of nowhere during his and Minerva's encounter with Zach didn't exactly help matters. At least it proved a minor obstacle.
** Things were looking pretty optimistic during the final battle after Dr. Rex's defeat... [[spoiler:and then he got possessed by the Maelstrom, and it all went downhill from there.]]
** Hertz and Naomi had a pretty happy ending. [[spoiler:And then everything went downhill for them in the teaser for Dino 2012.]]
* DidNotDoTheBloodyResearch:
** In an effort to Get Crap Past The Radar, "bloody" was frequently used as a curse word, since it was not censored by the word filter and most of Dino Attack RPGs players live in North America, where the word is not particularly offensive. When Dino Attack RPG actually had a player from the United Kingdom, imperial officer, "bloody" could no longer be used because he took offense to the word.
** This did not stop Sniper from saying "bloody" as a curse word later on. In fact, during the mission brief that he was assigned to Second Headquarters Squad, Sniper referred to the Hybrids as "buggers", which is a seemingly innocent word in North America with a much more offensive meaning elsewhere in the world.
** French Fries also referred to Mutant Lizards as "buggers".
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu:
** [[spoiler:Pterisa struck the Darkitect in the chest with a bolt of lightning. It barely hurt him, but the fact that he was actually hit by another being who was turning his own powers against him was a huge insult to the Darkitect. The good news is that it broke his concentration long enough for Rex and Hotwire to realize that they were fighting illusions. The bad news is that Pterisa Broke Her Arm Flipping Off Cthulhu.]]
** This trope applies to anyone, such as Pointman or Semick, who attacked SNKBoss Dr. Rex after .
* DiedInYourArmsTonight: Ingrid Troms° in Solomon Koplowitz's arms, and in Rex's arms.
* DinosaursAreDragons: Literally with Tex, who is a hybrid between a Mutant T-Rex and a dragon. Additionally, her brother Crunchbite was inspired by the Kardas Dragon.
* DirectLineToTheAuthor: A writer named Samuel Piaker interviewed Dino Attack veterans so he could write a novel based on the Dino Attack.
* DirtyCoward:
** Walter Breen, who was willing to use Kate Bishop as a HumanShield to make his escape from the Maelstrom Temple.
** Trigger. For someone who takes his jobs so seriously that anyone who interferes must die, Trigger has no problem walking out on his most important job of all time and deserting the Dino Attack Team... during the final battle... and tries to justify it as the money not being worth it.
* DisappearedDad: Zachary Abody is Frozeen's disappeared adoptive father.
* DisconnectedByDeath: Happened a few times over the comm chatter, but also notably happened with .
* DiscontinuityNod:
** Andrew and Laxus occasionally dismiss retconned information as faults of the "anybody can edit" system of the Dino Attack Database.
** When , Sam Sinister talked about how, in the past, he was blind in a metaphorical sense. In fanon material earlier in the Dino Attack RPG which was later retconned into CanonDiscontinuity, Sam Sinister actually was blind in a literal sense.
** The comm chatter occasionally references the EarlyInstallmentWeirdness that has fallen into CanonDiscontinuity.
** Greybeard mispronounced Anubis's name as "Arubis", referencing a typo that [=PeabodySam=] made when first introducing Anubis.
* DiskOneFinalBoss: XERRD seemed to be nearly defeated in the Maelstrom Temple. Victory was nearly at hand... [[spoiler:and then Baron Typhonus showed up.]]
* DisneyDeath:
** Amanda Claw was last seen attacked by villains, and her torn up uniform was found outside a wrecked police station. Don't worry, Rex, she's alright...
** Kat was shot in the neck and killed... or so we thought. Good thing she backed herself up on Hotwire's PDA.
* DisneyVillainDeath: Brickspider Bot v1.0, although subverted in that it was already dead before it fell.
* DisproportionateRetribution:
** Rotor tried to make an example of a T-1 crew by having them executed because the pilot had refused an order to fire on the XERRD fortress while Dino Attack Agents were still inside.
** If Sarah's anythiing to go by, then apparently Walter pulled a gun on someone for stepping over the line during a bowling match.
** Edward Korrupte's response to UŠrlig Sindstorme sending a team of mercenaries to steal some blueprints? Giving Venomosa permission to kill everyone.
** Pharisee's retribution could be considered disproportionate. It is actually intentional so he can make a statement and provide a warning to others.
* DitzyGenius: Naomi Carver was originally introduced as TheDitz, and indeed this was Hertz's first impression of her. Later, however, Hertz commented on Naomi's intelligence.
* DistaffCounterpart:
** Cabin is basically a female, slightly less aggressive version of Rotor.
** Teri is intended to be one for Barry Jackson.
** Also Bartholomew Enderson's sister Carrie Enderson, who also happens to be a successful bartender, and they both happen to be secret-keepers to two rival mercenaries.
** Blaire Darkling could be seen as a DistaffCounterpart to Amanda Remous in a sense that they were both infamous terrorists/assassins who both attempted to redeem themselves of their crimes.
* DivineIntervention: [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus saved Dr. Rex from death... in about the cruelest and most agonizing manner possible.]]
* DoNotGoGentle:
** With their Fire Hammers destroyed and an endless number of Mutant Dinos surrounding them, this trope became the primary motivation for Greybeard and King Joseph Race during the final battle. [[spoiler:Although Greybeard survived, King Race played it straight.]]
** died in a battle against bandits, which ended with StuffBlowingUp.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Athena Fabello.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Sarah Bishop does not like Brickolini's pizza.
** It even runs in the family, as it turns out her daughter can't stand it either.
* DoesntLikeGuns: Lord Vladek.
* DolledUpInstallment: When Dino Attack RPG first began, it was basically Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG in a Dino Attack setting. Much of the original expository post was copied from the Alpha Team RPG, and many members of that time were originally members of the Alpha Team RPG.
* DonutMessWithACop: Elizabeth once managed to get rid of a cop who was trying to stop her from hijacking a ship in LEGO City's harbor by telling him the tavern was offering free donuts.
* DoomMagnet: Rex, during the final battle.
* DoubleWeapon: Blaire's modified Shinobi katanas.
* DownerEnding:
** December 21, 2010.
** One of Atton Rand's final posts revealed Rotor to be a miserable alcaholic in the aftermath of the war, unable to adjust to modern society and finding his relationship with Cabin rapidly deteriorating.
* DrJerk: Medic.
* TheDragon:
** General Evil to Evil Ogel. While they are both very intelligent, Ogel was the mastermind while General Evil was the muscle.
** Loop to Cane, though this was only revealed posthumously.
** CoDragons: Stromling!Zachary and Ahua, who were answering to .
* DragonRider: Formerly Raptor. Played with by Fullmetal, who rides the dragon-dinosaur hybrid Tex.
* DramaticGunCock: Ronald E. Army did one of these after .
* DramaticIrony:
** Wade was forced to perform a mercy kill on J.D. by giving him a morphine overdose. His Film/SavingPrivateRyan namesake was also involved in a very similar scene, except he was the one who was fatally wounded.
** A group of Dino Attack agents stationed in Antarctica, after expressing worry about the riots in the refugee facilities, heard the sound of thunder and thought nothing of it. The thunder was the result of Vladek trying to get the attention of the Antarctica refugees so Greybeard could end the riots.
** After , Frozeen, Greybeard, and Sam Race were listening to the comm chatter and heard someone say that . They incorrectly deduced that .
** In Scott's interview of Dr. Cyborg, Dr. Cyborg wanted Contest to know that he was alright. Readers would know that Contest .
* DramaticThunder: A Type 3 variant, foreshadowing the final battle.
* DramaticWind: After she killed Sir Robert Batrick, it was said that Willa the Witch's cape was billowing in the wind... except it was also mentioned that it was indoors and there was no wind, implying that the cape was billowing by AWizardDidIt magical means.
* DreamingOfThingsToCome: Oddly subverted with Andrew, who had dreams about being mutated and yet ultimately managed to overcome them. However, it is more or less played straight with Zachary.
** Actually played straight subtley, in regards to comments in his dreams about taking interest in small, oddly-colored horses...
* DressingAsTheEnemy: An infiltration squad, as well as Zachary, dressed up as XERRD scientists and guards while sneaking through the XERRD Fortress.
* DrillSergeantNasty: Ronald E. Army and Carl Lutsky.
* DrillTank: Ogel Drilling Vehicles and Thunder Drillers.
* TheDriver: Montoya. In the flashback it's implied he is the designated driver for the team (although the others seemed to be capable of driving when neccessary), as he is the one entrusted with driving a stolen Dact Corporation truck to the headquarters of Mindstorms, Inc. (and later making it look like a nasty roadside accident), and later goes on to become the getaway driver during the less than successful heist.
* DroppedABridgeOnHim:
** Aster Oid and Aravis.
** Literally done with Libo, and subsequently Lampshaded by Shadow.
** in the Dino 2012 teaser.
* DrowningMySorrows:
** Athena Fabello after the death of Isacc Fabello.
** Grisbarba L. Pirata after the violent break-up with "Bad Luck" Beatrice.
* DrunkenMaster: Greybeard and Demoman.
* TheDrunkenSailor: Given the nature of where they're from, the various pirates on the team are all known to enjoy drinking bottles of rum.
* DualBoss:
** Zach's fight against both Michelle Glados and Carolyne Provencal in the Maelstrom Temple.
** Dr. Rex and Cyrista's Bane could be seen as Dual Bosses of the final battle.
* DualWielding:
** Kareem Nazareno, Zelda Frodongan, and Blaire Darkling wield two katanas each.
** Se˝or Palomar wielded two pistols during the Maelstrom Temple battle.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Andrew "Pyro" Jackson felt this way during the final battle. After helping the Dino Attack Team retake LEGO Island and Gold City, he is rewarded by his teammates telling him to shut up and put some clothes on. Given that he was running around in his underwear and shouting loudly into the radio, while his daughter was posing as him so no one recognized him as agent Pyro, the lack of respect was justified, though.
* DumbMuscle: Heavy.
* DwindlingParty:
** Happened in two intersecting (but mostly unrelated) segments, both of the "hunted" variety- The Second Headquarters Squad being picked off one by one by [[spoiler:Ata]] until only were left, and also in the Trigger/Silencia flashback, where a seven man-team of criminals (eight-people depending on whether you include Silencia herself) are picked off one-by-one following Silencia's double-crossings until only two remained. The latter arguably continued into the present day, too,
** On a related note, Atton Rand does somewhat regret not using this with his "Stromling paranoia" sub-plot with the crew of Outpost 4, with the already paranoid cast getting picked off one by one trying to figure out who's a Stromling.
* DyingAlone: As punishment for all that he had done, Rex's intended fate for Dr. Rex was to rob him of the dignity of dying with others around him.
* DyingMomentOfAwesome: With his dying breaths, A surefire awesome way for to go.
** DefiantToTheEnd: last words were a big "ZNAP YOU!" to SNKBoss Dr. Rex.
** HeroicSacrifice:
*** Tracer, who allowed his entire Creative Spark to be used as Maelstrom antidote after having been fatally shot by Zelda Frodongan.
*** Mur allowed himself to be killed by the Dino Attack Team so Cranky could finally be defeated.
*** sacrificed his life so that his Creative Spark could empower the Imagination orb and defeat .
*** sacrificed himself to buy Rex and others enough time to escape SNKBoss Dr. Rex.
*** Libo performed one to save General, Shock, and Sam Throramebi.
*** each performed one to hold off SNKBoss Dr. Rex from reaching the headquarters.
*** sacrificed himself to let his team use his Creative Spark to power the Einstein Device.
*** HeroicSuicide: Rev Raptor, to avoid turning out like his father.
*** YouShallNotPass: Libo, who destroyed the Stone Tower Bridge (while still standing on it) to prevent the Mutant Dinos from following his friends.
* DyingDeclarationOfLove: gave one to in his final moments.

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** It can seem strange reading Atton Rand's early posts, which at best were a rough summary of what was happening, full of contrived coincidences and artistic license in medicine (with his characters repeatedly suffering absurd injuries and recovering quickly) along with his three characters- Zenna, Axle, and Elizabeth- compared to his numerous [=NPCs=] now. Also his depiction in the LEGOIsland arc of a very clear cut "Demonization realists are evil" ideology is noticeably different from his more recent posts, which are more morally gray and tend to be somewhat grounded in reality whenever possible.
** Hoo boy. Just read some of [=PeabodySam=]'s early posts and try not to get weirded out. Most notably, the whole plot twist about a Mutant T-Rex being disguised as a Minifig. No wonder he later retconned so much of it.
*** Also, it's amusing to mention that, compared to how much DarkerAndEdgier the RPG currently is, many of [=PeabodySam=]'s early posts were very... childish. For example, the harshest insult that Fogel could come up with for Amanda Claw is "Mrs. Dumb-Mouth".Although, given that "dumb" has multiple meanings, this could have potentially been a somewhat-clever insult... if that was how [=PeabodySam=] originally intended it.
** Heck, just read the early Dino Attack RPG in general. Minifigs turning into Toa? A villain from Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog? Rahaga in Exo-Force Mechs? EarlyInstallmentWeirdness indeed.
** Not exempt from some of the later posts. Andrew's "dark conciousness", anybody?
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Just about every characters went through the death of loved ones, injuries, loss, hopelessness, and more before finally defeating and ending the Dino Attack war.
* EarthIsABattlefield: Mutant Dinos have destroyed most of the world with the exception of Antarctica, and even then an invasion was attempted, although some of the damage has been repaired recently.
** Noteworthy though is that battles are rarely shown to take place in any locations outside those exclusive to LEGO Canon. One wonders of the untold adventures of Dino Attack fighting in Tokyo, New York, London, Belgium, Billund...
* EarthShatteringKaboom: The ending of December 21, 2010.
* EinsteinHair: Frank Einstein, but what did you expect?
* ElegantWeaponForAMoreCivilizedAge: Solomon views katanas this way but will not hesitate to use a gun when necessary.
* EldritchAbomination: The Maelstrom as some have interpreted in the RPG has swung in this direction a few times, particularly with Atton Rand's posts.
* EldritchLocation:
** The Torn World.
** The Maelstrom Temple, to a degree.
* ElectricTorture: The torture of Little Bot in Villains Headquarters.
* EliteMooks: Minifig/Mutant Lizard Hybrids.
* EmperorScientist: Dr. Rex, Dr. Inferno, and (to an extent) Zed Provhezor.
* EmphasizeEverything: Blaire Darkling intentionally speaks like this, often emphasizing random words with little relevence.
* EmptyEyes: Most Mutant Dinos and Quasifigus Hybrids have blank white eyes.
* EndingMemorialService:
** One of the last events to take place on Adventurers' island was the memorial for .
** And then at the end of the RPG, funerals were held for
*** Additionally, Frozeen and Shannon were making plans for Roger's memorial services.
* EnemyMine:
** Evil Ogel, Lord Vladek, Lord Sinister, and the Brickster allied with the Dino Attack Team to ensure the defeat of XERRD.
** A slightly less intense version occurred after the mutant dinos had overrun the team's camp on Adventurers' Island. A group made up of three men who fled into the jungle turned out to be Rotor (who at the time had gained a significant amount of distrust after court-martialling and trying to execute an agent), George (the man who Rotor had tried to have executed), and Commander Johnson (the man sent to apprehend Rotor for his attempt to execute George), and they now had to work together after getting lost. Of course the tension was lowered once they were joined by Lance and Cabin.
** Clint Wayne and Angel Eyes were old rivals in Gold City before teaming up in the Dino Attack.
* EnforcedMethodActing: In-universe example. Trigger initially did not tell Carrie that the gun he had pressed to her head was loaded with blanks because he wanted a genuine reaction. Later he relented and just asked Carrie to play along.
* TheEngineer: Engineer.
* EnsembleCast: The Dino Attack RPG has no single main protagonist.
** RotatingProtagonist: Every post in Dino Attack RPG shifts the perspective to another character, especially since players are not allowed to post twice in a row due to Website/BZPower forum rules.
*** It can even happen in just one post. Many players in the RPG have a number of NPC's besides their main character, and a single post will often shift between the perspectives of different characters. For instance, Atton Rand's post frequently switched between the point of view of Rotor, Pierce, Cabin, Kate, and occasionally Clint Wayne.
* EnsignNewbie: Carl Lutsky.
* EurekaMoment: When Frozeen said that he was shocked by the news of Ogel's (apparent) demise, Rex realized that electricity was key to defeating Dr. Rex.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: Averted with Oswald Fabello, who absolutely hates his mother for what she did to him and his siblings.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes:
** Although he has not shown true affection towards Kate, Wallace Bishop went out of his way to ensure that Dr. Strangebrick did not harm her. [[spoiler:Of course, given what we later learn about "Wallace Bishop", this trope isn't actually played as straight as it first seemed.]]
** Dr. Strangebrick was very close to his daughter Jenny, seeing as he personally tutored her in the ways of science and had a close friendship with her as his lab assistant.
** Though Oswald is extremely conflicted, half of him wanted to save his sister from being killed by Mutant Dinos by having her join XERRD.
** Despite all that he went through, Dr. Rex still had BigBrotherInstinct towards Katerina Schattenberg, even up until the final battle. [[spoiler:However, between Katerina renouncing him and Baron Typhonus goading him, the absolute obliteration of his Big Brother Instinct is what absolutely left Dr. Rex past the point of redemption.]]
* EverybodyIsSingle: For the most part, everyone was single upon joining the Dino Attack Team. Subverted with Helm, who has a wife and son; Spy, who had a wife and multiple children; and Wright and Shiller, who were dating prior to the Dino Attack. Also Sarah Bishop and Elizabeth Winsor had been in relationships prior.
* EveryoneIsRelated: Katerina Schattenberg is the aunt of Cane and the biological sister of Dr. Rex, who switched bodies with Rex, who is the brother of Chompy, who is the offspring of the alpha female T-Rex and was adopted by Frozeen, who was created by the Brickster and is the adopted son of Dr. Zachary Abody, who used to work with Dr. Rex and General, who is Evil Ogel's brother... Oy vey.
* EveryoneIsASuspect: They did say that anyone could be TheMole, and it's notable to say that Specs and Amanda Claw were both top suspects for a time.
* EveryoneWentToSchoolTogether: Dr. Rex, Zachary Abody, and General; Dr. Cyborg, Catless, Charon, and Crystal; Frozeen and Gromtin; and Hotwire and Shiller.
* EverythingSoundsMenacingInGerman: Probably the reason why Medic and Zed Provhezor have stereotypical East European Funetik Aksents, why one unnamed XERRD scientist only speaks German, and why the surnames Schattenberg and Dunkelheit are German-based.
* EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs: The very premise of the RPG.
* EverythingsBetterWithMonkeys: Kiddy and the army of Stromling Monkeys.
* EverythingsBetterWithSamurai: Quasifigus lacertilia and Pterisa wear samurai armor, while Solomon Koplowitz is actually a samurai.
* EverythingsDeaderWithZombies: Stromlings.
* EverythingsSatiatingWithSandwiches: Heavy really likes sandwiches.
* EverythingsSquishierWithCephalopods: Mutant Vinscale Octomus and Octosaurs.
* EvilCanNotComprehendGood: While Dust was not evil, he could not understand the selflessness exhibited by the rest of the team.
* EvilCounterpart:
** Rex and Dr. Rex.
** Before the villain alliance, Frozeen and General Evil.
* EvilCripple: Zed Provhezor.
* EvilEvolves: An InformedAbility of Mutant Lizards is their ability to adapt, making it difficult to defeat Mutant Lizards with the same battle strategy twice. Additionally, various breeds of Mutant Dinosaurs adapted to the cold arctic climate of Antarctica.
* EvilGenius: Of all the XERRD scientists, Zed Provhezor probably best fits this trope.
* EvilIsHammy: Stromling!Zach. Even called out by Andrew.
* EvilIsNotAToy:
** Go ahead, Dr. Rex. Just inject yourself with trace amounts of a dark and malicious force known to destroy the universe. It's most certainly not going to come back to bite you...
** Subverted at the last minute by Andrew abruptly having second thoughts on being able to use the Maelstrom for his own purposes.
* EvilKnockoff: [=ShadowTech=]'s vehicles are the same as Dino Attack's, only painted black.
* EvilLaugh: Stromling!Zach, Evil Ogel, and all seem to enjoy this to some extent.
* EvilMakesYouUgly: IWasQuiteALooker General used to look handsome. Then he became General Evil and got his skin burned off...
* EvilOldFolks: Dr. Rex, who is eighty years old despite his looks. General Evil and presumably Evil Ogel also count, at least before the villains' alliance.
* EvilPoacher: Scratch, Rudo Villano, and Mr. Cunningham.
* EvilRedhead:
** Carolyne Provencal and Paulie Gonepus.
** Inverted with Stromling Zach. Although redhaired as a minifig (and his minifig disguise), his hair is purple as a Stromling.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Lord Sam Sinister, Evil Ogel, and .
* EvilVersusEvil:
** The Villains versus XERRD.
** XERRD versus the Maelstrom.
** [=ShadowTech=] versus the Maelstrom.
** EvilVersusOblivion: Pretty much the justification for the above cases of EvilVersusEvil. For example, Ogel wishes to rule the world, while [[spoiler:Baron Typhonus seeks to destroy it through XERRD]], prompting Ogel to ally with Dino Attack Team to help defeat the Maelstrom.
* TheEvilsOfFreeWill: Evil Ogel and General Evil's primary justification for being evil.
* ExploringTheEvilLair:
** Kate, Dust, and Zachary all made efforts to explore the XERRD fortress on their own (although the former had no real choice in the matter). Kate and Zachary were captured and Dust was discovered snooping around by Minerva.
** On two separate occasions in two separate XERRD establishments, Rex and Amanda Claw were part of groups that Explored the Evil Lair.
* Expy:
** General Evil is, more or less, a fused Expy of General Grievous and Hopper.
** A mad, brilliant inventor in control of an airship, an army of robots, and a water monster powered by seven emeralds who later betrays him? Well, when you put it like that, Kotua certainly seems like an Expy of Dr. Eggman.
** In a time when Amanda Claw's personality was still severely underdeveloped, she nearly became an Expy of Dino Attack RPGs only female primary character at the time, Dromus. How so? Her weapon of choice, a chain whip, was blatantly stolen from Dromus. However, especially following the revelation of her backstory, Amanda's DivergentCharacterEvolution led to her dropping the chain whip and picking up the knife, helping to distance her from Dromus as well as most other characters.
** Although Greybeard is not really based upon any particular character, he does act as an Expy of Captain Hector Barbossa in certain scenes, especially during Rex and Amanda's WartimeWedding.
** [=PeabodySam=]'s characterization of Specs is essentially an Expy of Colonel Philip Broyles.
** Toa Antrakha did this twice to his characters who were turned into villains. While enslaved by Dr. Inferno, Spino was an Expy of Duskmon from Anime/DigimonFrontier. As Enox Phorm, Raptor became an Expy of the titular creatures from Franchise/Alien.
** Much of Atton Rand's cast that does not consist of Captain Ersatzes often consists of Expy Expies of movie characters, though many of them manage to break off enough from their inspirations to become seperate individuals. Frank Bowman is loosely inspired by Dave Bowman. Cam O'Cozy started as an Expy of Major "King" Kong from the movie Dr. Strangelove, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb and ended as an Expy of Ash from Film/Alien, while Dr. Strangebrick is an Expy of the titular character of Dr. Strangelove. Barry Jackson and Giovanni Wade were loosely inspired by characters in Film/SavingPrivateRyan. The staff of Outpost 4 drew inspiration from characters in Film/TheThing1982. Rotor drew inspiration from Lt. Colonel Kilgore from Film/ApocalypseNow, and Lance also drew inspiration from the same movie (his last name was changed to Williams, rather than Johnson as in the film, to seperate him from the movie), Pierce is an expy of the main character from Series/Mash. Cabin's appearance drew some inspiration from Michelle Rodriguez in Film/Avatar, and Trigger was a loose expy of James Woods' performance in Film/JohnCarpentersVampires.
*** Firecracker is an interesting case. While he was based on a character from the obscure spaghetti Western Film/DuckYouSucker, his depiction isn't so much based on the actual movie's depiction of him as a guilt-ridden ex-terrorist as it is the humorous depictions of him in Atton Rand's Downfall Parodies, where he is shown to be a trigger-happy maniac who loves seeing things explode and has made it his life's ambition to blow up Hitler for reasons unknown.
*** Stromling!Palmer is basically an Expy of Stromling!Zach and Stromling!Ahua, created to fill the gap by the former's HeelFaceTurn and the latter's death.
** Silencia Venomosa and Bricassius are Expy Expies of O-Ren Ishii and the crime boss who killed her parents from Film/KillBill.
** As a friendly raptor partner who follows Demoman around, See the "prototype" Mutant Raptor was developed into an Expy of Rappy from the Rappy "n" Demo series.
* ExtyYearsFromNow: Dust is born in 1977, he kills his dad in 1987, he gets a job at the museum in 1997, and he is fired on new years eve of 2007.
* EyeBeams: Mutant T-Rexes have laser vision.
* EyeScream:
** Greybeard lost all vision in his right eye due to a Mutant Raptor attack. Holly Vinyaya's own right eye was clawed at by an acid-dipped Mutant Raptor claw.
** The Maelstrom entered General's G.E. Body through the eyeholes in his helmet, invoking this trope.

* FaceDeathWithDignity:
** Word Of God says that this is how Roger Remous died at the hooks of Fssinister, which has considerably helped Amanda Claw accept his death.
** willingly and eagerly performed a HeroicSacrifice to buy Rex and others enough time to escape.
** 's death might be one of the most dignified deaths in the entire RPG.
* FaceHeelTurn:
** Oswald Fabello and Raptor did this when they joined XERRD.
** Kotua and Zachary each preformed FaceHeelTurns against their will.
* FaceYourFears:
* TheFaceless:
** Spy always wears a mask in public, even getting married to Mrs. Rutherford.
** Specs too, including (for the reader, anyways) when he is actually unmasked!
* FacelessGoons: When Quasifigus Hybrids wear their helmets.
* FailedASpotCheck:
** French Fries was briefly seen casually talking to Zenna in the Dino Attack Headquarters... apparently completely oblivious to the fact that members of both the idealist and realist sides of the team are inside trying to kill each other, and for that matter the entire conflict that he unintentionally caused.
** When Firecracker tried to pull that TakingYouWithMe stunt, he failed to notice that only a small fraction of the Mutant Dino army was actually inside the building at that point.
* FailureHero: Just look at Rex in the events following Dr. Rex's apparent defeat.
* FailureKnight: Libo bears several qualities of a FailureKnight. Due to hubris, his entire organization was decimated by Ogel's forces, forcing Libo to advocate for a replacement organization (Alpha Team). As Little Bot, he worked from behind-the-scenes in Ogel's bases to ensure that Alpha Team would succeed where his own organization had failed.
* FairPlayWhodunnit: XERRD's mole, while not too obvious, can be figured out by paying attention to minor details and allowing oneself to distrust anyone. In fact, it was such Fair Play that [=PeabodySam=] had to go out of his way to put less emphasis on the real mole and instead focus on Red Herrings.
* FallenHero: Kotua, Spino, Raptor, Zachary Virchaus, and Oswald Fabello, to name a few examples.
* FalseGunshot: This happened at least once while the mutant dinos were invading the Dino Attack Camp on Adventurers' Island. Of course it probably felt like this for everyone in the camp when Rotor suddenly arrived with a T-1 Typhoon and began gunning the dinos from above.
* FamousLastWords: Considering all the deaths in Dino Attack RPG, this is not going to be a complete list, but here's a few examples:
-->: You've... grown up... Uncle Wallace would have been... so... proud."
-->: "Hey, Dr. Rex! I've got a message for you! ZNAP YOU!"
-->: "Mom...? Dad...? Alfred...? Roger...? Is... is that really you...? I have... I have waited... so long... to see you... again..."
-->: "Goodbye."
-->: "Your father... would be proud..."
* FanDisservice: Andrew Jackson, who is dirty, sweaty, pale, and unshaven to begin with, was apparently running through the battlefield in his underwear. BrainBleach now, please.
* FantasticRacism:
** The extremists of the idealist-realist bordered on this trope, attacking anyone with opposing views.
** Non-mutated dinosaurs always refer to Mutant Dinos as "abominations".
** Minifigs display Fantastic Racism towards Quasifigus Hybrids. Andrew helping Pterisa integrate into Minifig society are him trying to get people to avert this.
* FascinatingEyebrow: Many characters express confusion or amusement with the raise of an eyebrow.
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:Dr. Rex was unable to die due to Baron Typhonus's DivineIntervention. However, he was still on the brink of death and suffering terrible agony and pain from his wounds and the Maelstrom, compounded with the knowledge that he was the Darkitect's plaything all along.]] It's not hard to feel a little pity for him in this state.
* AFatherToHisMen: With some exceptions, many of the elite agents are like this.
* FauxAffablyEvil:
** Carolyne Provencal can be downright terrifying... when she's acting sweet and polite.
** While not evil, per se, Amanda Claw was able to infuriate Trigger by smiling sweetly at him.
** carried a kind demeanor when speaking. Until you infuriated him...
* FauxShadow: There was a lot of build-up with Andrew's dreams and dark consciousness that seemed to foreshadow a FaceHeelTurn, or at the very least a mutation. What happened in the end? Andrew got over it. This was mainly the unintentional result of Andrewnuva199 changing his plans for Andrew. Ironically, another Dino Attack agent from LEGO Island, Zachary, ended up fulfilling the FaceHeelTurn role.
* TheFellowshipHasEnded: After the FinalBattle, with the dissolving of Dino Attack Team. Most noticeable in Greybeard's goodbyes to Sam Race and Frozeen, and the goodbyes between Zachary, Minerva, Holly, and Zelda.
* FictionalCountry: LEGOLAND and Barron.
* FinalBattle: Dino Attack Team fought one against Dr. Rex and his Mutant Dino forces in LEGO City.
* FinalBoss: Dr. Rex.
* FinalSolution:
** An extremely rare example in that it's actually somewhat justified. The whole point of the Dino Attack Team was to eliminate the threat of mutant dinosaurs, namely by destroying them.
** A much more brutal case occurred with Duke and Cam O'Cozy, whose plan seemed to involve complete genocide against everyone in the team with the slightest idealistic views. It turned out that the latter's target was actually the entire Dino Attack team, and he simply taken advantage of an already intense rivalry between two sides by manipulating the more aggressive one into violence, hoping that a significant number of both would die in the resulting civil war. Of course the whole thing was planned by Dr. Rex, who in addition to programming Cam O'Cozy used the Maelstrom to corrupt Digger's mind.
* FireBreathingDiner: Never eat super-spicy-tongue-melting-jail-cell-door-opening-hot pizza unless you're Aravis, Helmie, or from LEGO Island.
* FireBreathingWeapon: The weapon of choice of Pyromaniac Pyro, A.J. Orange, Sarah Bishop, and post-HeroicBSOD Rex.
* FireForgedFriends:
** While most of the Dino Attack Team is a BandOfBrothers, there are others who would be classified as FireForgedFriends, such as Greybeard and Frozeen, since they would likely have never gotten along if it were not for the Dino Attack.
** The entire Second Headquarters Squad appears to get along very well with each other, but Soldier and Demoman notably began friends AWizardDidIt after they worked together to defend a small castle from an angry wizard's dragon.
** Hotwire and Kat, though admittedly they did have some sort of platonic chemistry from the moment they met.
** There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and saving someone's life on mutliple occations like Andrew has for Zach is one of them.
* TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest: After Amanda, Rex's first love, was thought to be killed by Fogel, Rex was left so distraught by the experience that he rebuffed the affections of another... only to later realize that the one he was rebuffing was actually a very-alive Amanda!
* FiveBadBand:
** Using prominent characters involved in XERRD
*** The Big Bad: Dr. Rex

* Flanderization:
** A minor note on Heavy's profile on the wiki stated that he opened a sandwich shop after being discharged from the army. He also got into a food debate with other Dino Attack agents and argued that sandwiches were the best food. Apparently, Atton Rand took these two minor notes about sandwiches and blew them completely out of proportion, to the point where sandwiches overshadowed everything else about Heavy when he appeared in Atton Rand's posts.
** Happens to minor extents for characters certain players aren't quite familiar with. One post between Digger and Solomon Flanderizes Digger's status and agendas with the rest of the team based on somewhat outdated information, protraying him as feeling mistrusted by the other Founding Members and wanting to collaborate with Solomon in secret to more effectively cure Mutant Dinos and not have to kill them all to ensure victory.
** When Kotua appeared in the Maelstrom Temple, he was a mere amalgamation of his negative qualities, with most emphasis put on his violently realist outlook, his obsession with making Rex suffer, and his association with Perfect Chaos. However, this is a deliberate and justified example, since [[spoiler:this was not the real Kotua, but rather a Stromling disguised as Kotua by the Darkitect's illusions. Most likely, the Darkitect looked into Rex's mind and only picked out the traits of Kotua that would work best in forcing Rex to Face His Fears.]] Later, when thinking more rationally, Rex was able to recall some of Kotua's other qualities, including the positive ones, besides the ones that were depicted in the Flanderization.
* FlippingTheTable: After hearing his sister's name from his interrogator, Oswald Fabello flew into a rage and flipped over a table trying to reach the interrogator, Zach.
* TheFlorenceNightingaleEffect: Pierce apparently got close to a young Sarah Bishop while taking care of her injuries following an accident. Interestingly, they later rekindled their old romance when they met again, but their places switched, with Sarah now taking care of Pierce's injuries. It's also heavily implied that the former case is how Kate was born.
* FluffyTamer: Rex.
* Foil:
** Rotor, the aggressive commander who tries to think realistically and practically, putting his own personal morals aside and embracing the dark side of the war makes him the perfect foil for Zenna, the kind and compassionate idealist who thinks things through and puts her friends above all else. It's interesting to even note the two different fates of the characters, Zenna ended up paralyzed in one arm and with every bone in her body broken, while Rotor's so far made through most of the war without a scratch.
** Lance. the good-natured but trigger-happy rookie is a foil to Kate, the inexperienced rookie who has trouble adjusting to her surroundings.
** When they work together, the cranky, pessimistic, and down-to-earth Greybeard is often a Foil to the idealistic and romantic Rex.
** Zach and Andrew are both upbeat LEGO Island citizens who find themselves entangled with the Maelstrom on Adventurers Island. Whereas Andrew sees potential in it to further certain transformative desires of his, only for him to rethink his agenda and deny it and move on, Zach is relatively disregardive of it until he is infected by it and made a Stromling. Indeed, when the two come to blows, they become aware of traits of this trope lingering between them of how one of them rejected the Maelstrom and the other embraced it. It also became part of why Andrew chose to help Minerva fight to save Zach.
** When Atton Rand started planning his new primary character, he intentionally tried to make the exact opposite of Zenna. She is a woman, the new character's a man. Zenna was a kind and compassionate idealist, the new guy is a cold, selfish realist. Zenna actually cared for the good of her planet and the cause of the team, he doesn't give a znap and is only in it for the money. The result was the character of Trigger, whom he found a lot more enjoyable.
*** Interestingly, in the flashback, Montoya arguably serves as a foil to Trigger/Schiess. Whereas Schiess is professional and practical, Montoya is probably the most moral of the group. While Schiess is simply in it for the money Montoya is actually trying to provide for his girlfriend who he seems to genuinely love and is only involved with crime due to financial problems. For that matter, Montoya was the first person out of the lot who objected when Scorsese refused to pay a waitress's tip. Also Montoya was probably the one person who did the least illegal things out of them all, given that he's simply the driver.
*** Montgonel was partially intended as a foil for Pharisee. Where Pharisee is very "preachy" acting as though he has divine rights to justice, Montgonel is more calm and professional, preferring to follow protocol. Montgonel also thinks more in shades of grey, unlike Pharisee's perceptions of black and white morality. Finally, where Pharisee judges based soley on the crime itself, Montgonel looks more into the details, i.e. motives, background, ect. so while he probably would have nothing against capturing an agent like say... Snake, who was an unrepenetent criminal already charged with bank robbery who had attempted to desert, he would be a bit more lenient toward Montoya, a family man who attempted to kill the woman responsible for killing five of his partners.
*** An unintentional example, as the two were created by entirely different people, comes from looking at the two semi-religious characters of Shaw and Pharisee. Shaw is a good person and capable doctor, but she is left shy and somewhat insecure in her beliefs, simply finding comfort in her faith. Meanwhile, Pharisee uses his faith to give his life meaning, believing that the world is black and white, and it is his divine right to impart justice on others.
* FollowTheLeader: Dino Attack RPG itself is an example, following the footsteps of Alpha Team: Mission Deep Freeze RPG. Rather interestingly, most later LEGO [=RPGs=] ended up following Dino Attack RPGs example. This makes Dino Attack RPG a follower that eventually became a leader.
* ForDoomTheBellTolls:
** Played with. While no actual bells are tolling, the sound of thunder before the final battle sounded suspiciously like church bells ringing, according to the prose.
** Anyone Can Die, the soundtrack for a scene that takes place in the final battle, makes appropriate use of the Clock Tower bell from Videogame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask.
* Foreshadowing:
** Dust's nightmare way back at Outpost 108.
** There were a few hints towards being the ReverseMole. [[spoiler:Frank Einstein's biography revealed that he was personally sent by Albert Overbuild and Vanda Darkflame to spy on XERRD, while Wallace Bishop's relationship to Kate Bishop made him seem like prime HeelFaceTurn material, not to mention that Dino Attack's Reverse Mole delivered messages in a bishop.]]
** Greybeard's RousingSpeech in Antarctica was intended as a "preview" of Greybeard's speech before the final battle.
** Andrew mentioning that he felt, in spite of being about to face Stromling!Zach in a duel, that all would be well by Christmas when they would partcipate in an island-wide celebration. Cue Andrewnuva199's final posts nearly two years later...
** were both heavily foreshadowed in Greybeard's flashback/dream sequence.
** As Rex was mourning Amanda's death in the Maelstrom Temple, Stranger's Mutant Lizard arrived to protect him from Kotua. Although this was written by the seat of [=PeabodySam=]'s pants, it served as perfect foreshadowing towards the scene in which Rex was
** Bluetooth and Vinyana mention various reports of an alien fleet heading towards Earth that's ignoring attempts at contact by anyone, and the idea that they should try and prepare a defense team in case of hostilities. Unlike most other examples, this is refering to events past the end of the RPG, namely the story of the Alien Conquest theme that occurs in 2011, a year after Dino Attack.
* Forgiveness:
** Greybeard finally forgave Beatrice just before he died in December 21, 2010.
** Minerva Fabello finally forgave her mother, Athena, after she [[spoiler:was fatally wounded by Oswald.]]
* ForegoneConclusion:
** As of November 2005, Dino Attack RPG had a ForegoneConclusion in that Dino Attack Team had to win the war.
** Trigger himself outright stated that Silencia killed five of his six partners at Mindstorms, Inc. Given that we actually see Trigger trying to call Montoya, it becomes clear that it doesn't end well for Orange, Scorsese, Verbal, Keaton, or Deniro.
*** Due to Silencia Venomosa's threat to Michelle Glados, it's obvious that the flashback won't end well for UŠrlig Sindstorme or Edward Korrupte either.
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: When he tried to appeal to Lord Sinister,
* FourIsDeath: that guy from that show likes to use the number four and Lutsky drew the four of clubs in Dust's card trick. Imaginary Dust explained that the four of clubs is one of the most ominous cards becuse it is sometimes called "the devil's bedstead".
* FourLinesAllWaiting: Every player writes from a different character's perspective, resulting in various interconnected plot threads.
** The Adventurers' Island campaign alone was made up of at least 30 different stories. Aside from the actual mission at hand, there was Zach's corruption, Kate's efforts to fit in with the rest of the team, her gradual relationship with Pierce, Rex's quest to form an alliance with the dinosaurs, Rotor's relationship with the rest of the team, and Minerva's efforts to save Zach.
** Similarily, the previous story arc had not one, not two, but three different plots going on. Much focus was on the LEGOIsland mission, but it wasn't long before we were jumping back and forth between the agents in the Torn World, the mission in Antarctica, the refugee riots, Zenna's exposure of the Antarctica mission and ensuing chaos, an entire civil war going on as the result of a genocidal maniac wanting to murder anyone with the slightest idealistic beliefs, the comic relief provided by Enter and Return, Zenna's working relationship with Pierce in the hospital, and Hotwire and B gallivanting off to find Kat after Cane returned and captured her.
** Some of Atton Rand's more recent posts have played this in a more straight forward fashion, shifting between the actual mission though occasionally switching between different individuals involved, Pierce's arrival in Antarctica and his meeting with Sarah Bishop, and the humorous shenanigans of Clint Wayne, Angel Eyes, and the Second Headquarters Squad.
* FreudianExcuse:
** Dust never knew his mother and his father was an alcoholic and abusive.
** Similarly, Michelle Glados's mother died in childbirth, her father was often drunk and abusive, and she grew up without any friends.
** Dr. Rex was separated from his sister at a very early age, scarring the young boy for life.
* FrickinLaserBeams: Mutant T-Rexes have laser vision.
* FriendOrFoe:
** Lutsky's infiltration squad unwittingly massacred a group of Dino Attack Agents disguised as XERRD personnel.
** Sometime afterword, a half-asleep Lance was keeping watch with a machine gun on hand, and panicked when he saw two "Stromlings", and opened fire. Turned out he was actually shooting at Kate and Clint Wayne.
** Poor Clark, shot through the head because Palmer tricked his teammates into thinking he was a Stromling.
* FriendlessBackground:
** Kate seems to have experienced this during her childhood.
** Michelle Glados literally had no friends, which ultimately led to her becoming a bitter loner.
** Before joining Alpha Team, Frozeen had very few friends.
** Dust never did nor has any desire to have friends. Likely becuse of the emotional barrers he has placed around himslef
* FriendlyEnemy: This was roughly the relationship between Angel Eyes and Clint Wayne before the war- the two roughest, toughest gunslingers in town, and the only ones stand a chance against each other- and part of why they're able to work together when they're both assigned to Gold City.
* FriendlySniper: Barry Jackson A.K.A. Shotgun. He's quite a likeable guy... just don't give him any reason to target you.
* FriendlyTarget: Keith Empson.
* FromBadToWorse: The events following in a nutshell.
* FromNobodyToNightmare:
** Dr. Ronald Alexander was just an ordinary scientist who grew up in the Great Depression. He would one day become Dr. Rex, the monstrous and maddened Mutant T-Rex who leads the Maelstrom's forces in the apocalypse itself.
** Amanda Remous was only a young and innocent girl when her parents were murdered. She would later become one of the most infamous assassins in LEGOLAND.
** Zachary Virchaus was just an average LEGOIsland civilian. When he was corrupted into a Stromling, he became one of the most dangerous (and hammiest) generals serving the Maelstrom.
* FunWithAcronyms:
** D.I.N.O.Dino Invasion Neutralization Organization Attack
** S.T.A.R.E.Shadow Technology Agency Reference Engine
** X.E.R.R.D.Xenon Elite Researchers Regarding Destruction. During the Dino Attack, Destruction was changed to Dinosaurs but the acronym remained the same.
* FunetikAksent: Spy, Heavy, Medic, and Zed Provhezor have varying levels of a stereotypical East European Funetik Aksent. Spy's accent pronounces "th" as "z", Heavy's accent pronounces "w" as "v", Medic's accent combines Spy and Heavy's accents and pronounces "s" as "z" and "f" as "v", and Zed Provhezor's accent is Medic's accent plus replacing "c" with "k". Additionally, Heavy drops his articles, while Medic and Provhezor use a few German words such as "und" and "ja". The sentence "Yes, I was at the car dealership the other day and purchased a Volkswagen, but then I crashed it and it caught on fire" would be pronounced the following ways:
