William [=McChord=] Hurt (March 20, 1950 – March 13, 2022) was an American actor.

He made his film debut in 1980. In 1986, he won the Best Actor UsefulNotes/AcademyAward for his role as Luis Molina in ''Literature/KissOfTheSpiderWoman''. He earned additional nominations for his work in ''Film/ChildrenOfALesserGod'', ''Film/BroadcastNews'', and ''Film/AHistoryOfViolence''.

He passed away of prostate cancer in 2022, just one week shy of turning 72.
