Shiny Entertainment was a {{Video Game|s}} company founded by Northern Irish video game developer David Perry, formerly of Virgin Interactive (who made [[VideoGame/AladdinVirginGames the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Aladdin game]]), in 1993. Headquartered at Laguna Beach, California, their most well-known game is ''VideoGame/EarthwormJim''. They were first purchased by Creator/InterplayEntertainment, then, in 2002, they were bought by Infogrames (later renamed Creator/{{Atari}} after Infogrames acquired the Atari brand), and they and they continued until 2007, when they were bought by Foundation 9 and merged with a company called The Collective to form Creator/DoubleHelixGames. Later, in 2014, Double Helix Games was bought by Creator/{{Amazon}} and integrated into Amazon Game Studios.

!!Shiny Entertainment and their works provide examples of:
* BreakthroughHit: ''VideoGame/EarthwormJim''.
* CreatorKiller: ''VideoGame/EnterTheMatrix'' was the start of their fall from grace. ''Film/TheGoldenCompass'' game was their last game before being merged with The Collective after being poorly received.
* DropTheCow: Started with ''VideoGame/EarthwormJim''. As a ShoutOut, there would be cows dropped in some parts of ''VideoGame/{{MDK}}'' and ''VideoGame/{{Sacrifice}}''.
* ExcusePlot: Some of their older games, including ''VideoGame/EarthwormJim'', ''VideoGame/{{MDK}}'', and ''VideoGame/{{Wild 9}}''.
* LicensedGame: Their later titles.
* RecycledSoundtrack: Minor example, but ''R/C Stunt Copter'' uses the ending music from ''Earthworm Jim'' as its main menu theme.
