Shinji Mikami (born August 11, 1965) is one of the oldest and most well known video game producers, perhaps best known for the creation of ''Franchise/ResidentEvil''. He also made ''VideoGame/GodHand'', and helped create Creator/CloverStudio with the help of Creator/HidekiKamiya (of ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry'', ''VideoGame/ViewtifulJoe'', ''VideoGame/{{Okami}}'' and ''VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}'' fame) and Atsushi Inaba (who helped out on a bunch of other works, and helped out with ''VideoGame/MadWorld''), now known as Creator/PlatinumGames. Originally a Creator/{{Capcom}} member (one of the oldest, actually), he then went to Creator/{{Sega}} with the rest of his fellow Clover members at Platinum Games. He completed ''VideoGame/{{Vanquish}}'' and worked with Creator/Suda51 and Music/AkiraYamaoka on a comedy-horror game titled ''VideoGame/ShadowsOfTheDamned''.

In 2010 he founded [[http://tangogameworks.com/ Tango Gameworks]], a subsidiary of Zenimax Media (the same parent company as Creator/IdSoftware and Creator/{{Bethesda}}) along with longtime Creator/Suda51 collaborator Music/MasafumiTakada. He would eventually depart the company in 2023.

In 2015, he voiced Takahashi from ''VideoGame/Fallout4''.

!!His works frequently contain examples of the following:
* CreatorBacklash:
** He loathes being called the father of ''Franchise/ResidentEvil'', a title he feels more accurately belongs to Tokuro Fujiwara, the [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil1 first game]]'s producer.
** While he has an overall positive opinion of his ''Aladdin'' game, he admitted years later that he thought [[VideoGame/AladdinVirginGames the Virgin Games version]] was a superior game to his own in every way, outside of the soundtrack.
* DisownedAdaptation: He quit Capcom after they ported ''VideoGame/ResidentEvil4'' for the [=PS2=] without his permission, wanting it to be a Platform/NintendoGameCube exclusive.[[note]](Don't let the fact that a "Shinji Mikami" is credited as a designer on ''VideoGame/ResidentEvilRevelations2'' fool you; it's just someone with the same name)[[/note]]
* SelfDeprecation[=/=]BlackComedy: If [[http://tangogameworks.com/others/comic/001 these comics]] were written by him
* ZombieApocalypse: To the point where his company's comics and artwork frequently portray the staff members as zombies
