The Saturday Video Entertainment System (SVES) was a block of action animation (both Anime and Western) on Creator/CartoonNetwork similar to [[Creator/{{Toonami}} another block currently airing at the time]]. The block aired on Saturday nights from March 2003 to April 2004. It featured bumpers reminiscent of older arcade games with a [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Samus Aran]]-like character named Celeste in a space fighter craft.

!!The Saturday Video Entertainment System provides examples of specific tropes:

* SamusIsAGirl: At the end of the block, Celeste would take off her helmet, revealing it to be a female character.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Acted pretty much the same as Creator/{{Toonami}} (and even DID air many of its same shows), except airing on a Saturday, and shared many of the same staff. One notable difference is unlike Toonami, which edited many show's intros out at the time, this block kept them.
