Better known as [[Franchise/StarWars Luke Skywalker]], SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker or [[VideoGame/WingCommander Christopher Blair]], '''Mark Hamill''' (September 25, 1951-) was considered one of the best young talents in the 1970s. Though praised for a strong performance as Luke Skywalker in the ''Star Wars'' trilogy, he could never match the success of his most famous role. Despite being {{typecast|ing}}, he was frequently in demand and performed in several lesser known films before turning more to theater ([[DoingItForTheArt not just to pay the bills, but because he preferred it]]), eventually getting juicy lead roles in big plays on Broadway like ''{{Theatre/Amadeus}}'' and ''Film/TheElephantMan''.

More recently, he's built on some early experience to become one of the most acclaimed voice actors in the industry. He's often found playing dynamic, outright ''evil'' villains (ironic, considering his previous typecasting as a hero), most notably SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker as stated earlier - many consider his performance to be the definitive interpretation of the character. [[MeanCharacterNiceActor He's a nice guy in real life, despite the typecasting]].

He was unfortunately injured in a car accident before the release of ''Star Wars'', requiring reconstructive facial surgery. Many believe it's [[RealLifeWritesThePlot why]] his character is all banged up early in the sequel.

----
!!As for his filmography:
* Luke Skywalker in the original ''Franchise/StarWars'' trilogy (''Film/ANewHope'', ''Film/TheEmpireStrikesBack'', ''Film/ReturnOfTheJedi'').
** ''Film/TheStarWarsHolidaySpecial'' is the only ''Franchise/StarWarsExpandedUniverse'' work he has reprised the role in fully, though he did voice Luke in a TV-commercial for the novel ''[[NewJediOrder Vector Prime]]''.
** He also voiced Luke in a ''WesternAnimation/RobotChicken'' sketch.
** And in the first two [[Radio/StarWarsRadioDramas Star Wars radio adaptations]].
** Literature/DarthBane in ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars''.
* Private Griff, an expert marksman with an aversion to killing, in ''TheBigRedOne''. Made three years after the first ''A New Hope'' in an effort to avoid typecasting.
* SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker in ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries''. There's a reason he's called M'''ark Ham'''ill.

** And doing likewise for ''VideoGame/DCUniverseOnline'' and ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamCity''.
** Hamill however desires to move on from the character, and has been saying for some time that he no longer wishes to voice act for the Joker for fear of overstaying his welcome on the character. ''VideoGame/BatmanArkhamCity'' was seemingly his last role as the character (unless an animated version of ''ComicBook/TheKillingJoke'' is made).

He also did a "secret" guest role in the same episode as the DrillSergeantNasty Leavelle who teachers Homer how to become a bodyguard.

* Also had a cameo on ''SaturdayNightLive'', as a genuine Mark Hamill --''NOT'' a Bruce Boxleitner-- for sale on QVC. He's eventually bought by Creator/HarrisonFord, who claims he had to put his last Mark Hamill to sleep for actually being a Bruce Boxleitner.
